New thread..... let's get going!!

Sorry to hear all your news Josie hope you got through today ok and you never know what will happen. Someone has to make up the statistics of the ones who it worked for so there is every chance that you are that statistic! The friend I was meeting for lunch today (the one I was convinced would tell me she was pg and she isn't, she's decided to wait a bit longer before trying for no. 2) told me today one of her closest friends tried 8 years, had blockages, cysts, low egg reserves and years of drugs to stimulate this that or the other but always resisted full blown IVF then finally gave in, went for it and got pregnant naturally a few months later while waiting on the IVF list. It does all feel a little unbelievable but I for one need to hang on to that little glimmer of hope xx

cave what a pain not ovulating this month. Suppose the only approach if you can't get any regularity is to do it every other day if you can?

CEDR you have my sympathy, some people just seem to be able to make knobby comments with such ease :) I recommend you poke said colleague in the eye and promise you will do the same every time she asks how it's going!

I don't really do NY resolutions Beeble but if I do they've definitely usually worn off by this point in the year!

Hello nongoddess lovely to see you here :) Best of luck to you!

No news here. Getting quietly nervous about Friday more and more. Still feeling the need to hybernate. Spoke to mum last night, I reckon we might be able to move in about 7 weeks! Very excited Grin

So..... who's going to be watching OBEM at 9 tonight?!

Hi all! A real newbie here, just wanted to say hello, been following the thread for a while but plucking up courage to join in. I'm 34 and TTC since coming off Implanon in August, not long I know. Keep trying not to get my hopes up after first excited months (yes, JosieS, that smug feeling of 1st month is just about wearing off now!) and this thread has been really helpful reminding me that it can take a while....Loved reading yr postings, thanks all, and best of luck xxx

JosieSmith1 · 01/02/2012 16:53

I agree with your grrr CEDR She doesn't sound like the sort of person you can reason with either i.e. you can't say to her 'look, this is really difficult but it's worse when you ask me how it's going every week'. There's someone here like that too. She told me this morning that being given a 10-15% chance of our only IVF cycle working was good news Shock I almost kicked her head in. I don't really feel like being cheery and happy about having to have IVF and the little chance it has of being successful. I wanted to find out I was pg by accident after a few months of trying and be extraordinarily happy. Instead I have had 2 years of misery and depression and it's set to get worse Sad

CEDR · 01/02/2012 15:58

Hi all! Welcome newbies and apols for radio silence.... not been much to say!

Been quite frustrated with a colleague who is the only person I've told about ttc- she had two miscarriages in the last 12 months (and has one child). I only told her about it all because she was probing and she's impossible to lie to . And now once a week it's "how's things going?". Grrr. I don't know if I'm even going to ovulate for another 6 months plus (due to coming off the depo inj for anyone that doesn't know!)! So I don't know how things are going let along being able (or wanting to) tell anyone else! She's also being v judgemental about a friend of both of ours who recently had a baby who was unable to breastfeed. She tried really hard but it just wasn't working, and she's devastated about it... so doesn't need people being judgemental about it. Grrr. Just a general Grrrrrrrr really.

CaveMum · 01/02/2012 15:09

Bugger: Day 21 blood tests say no ovulation. Got to go back again next week for another test. The Clomid made me ov on Day 17 in the first cycle and Day 14 on the second. I'm now on Day 24 of my third cycle and no sign of ov to be seen! How am I supposed to figure out the best time for dtd if I'm all over the place like this??

JosieSmith1 · 01/02/2012 08:29

Hi Beeble no resolutions for us, was gonna go along the lines of something vaguely healthy but don't really see the point. DH needs to lose some weight, I'll help him with that by eating a bit better. I've thought about adoption, it's an option if all else fails. It's not how I pictured the rest of my life. DH isn't too keen but I think if the IVF fails he'll start to come round. We'd rather have adopted children than no children at all. I've got to sit at work all day today and pretend everything is ok when really I'm just one 'are you ok' away from breaking down. Let's see how long I can last...

Beeblebear · 01/02/2012 03:03

Welcome newbies. Nice to have a little more aCtion in here now!

Josie, fingers crossed you get something good out of your appointment. Any thoughts on adoption?

Sorry about af too rasp! 11 days and counting until my dreaded af arrjval.

So my new years resolution this year is to eat fruit and/or vegetables with every meal. Any ny resolutions for you ?

JosieSmith1 · 31/01/2012 21:30

Glad your HSG went well Evil Did you get your results?

Welcome Picklestar I remember sitting at work my first month smugly thinking ?I?m probably pregnant now? Grin How naive I was back then

Sorry for arrival of AF Rasp but hope your appt goes well

Fingers crossed CaveMum

Hi Cazbg, feel free to chat to us anytime Smile

Sorry AF arrived Pinkflipflop

I had a bad appt at the clinic today. We?re starting ivf in the next couple of weeks, getting my meds a week tomorrow, but she said not to get our hopes up as she doesn?t think I?ll respond to the meds and if there?s only 2 or 3 follies after stimulation, which she suspects, they?ll not go any further, and basically that?s the end of the road for us. I?m absolutely gutted Sad

raspberrytipple · 31/01/2012 20:46

Welcome Cazbg, hope the Gyne appointment gives you some answers, this is a great place to come and off load!

Hello all , I'm having a crappy week so far. AF has pretty much gone but I have felt completely and utterly exhausted the last few days, it seemed much heavier than normal. I could literally have fallen asleep at my desk today. Team that with feeling just plain miserable about my inability to make a baby and all in all I feel just plain shit. :( I really shouldn't I know that but I can't snap out of it. I've got plenty to look forward to this year but I just am not feeling it at the moment. Someone please kipper me! failing that pass me the Wine and Biscuit

OP posts:
Pinkflipflop · 31/01/2012 19:23

Haven't posted much since joining you all but slightly disappointed as got period today. We had only been very casually trying but was still hopeful.

Have totally irregular cycles, 44, 45, 43, 54, 86, 43, 41 days being the most recent set of statistics. Lots of friends having babies and I'm 32 so starting to feel I'm getting on a little now - sorry to sound negative Sad

CaveMum · 31/01/2012 17:44

Hi Cazbg. I was in a similar situation - came off Pill, had one period and then nothing. After 6 months I was referred for a scan which showed Polycystic Ovaries. I had an HSG (where dye is injected into your womb) to check for blockages and then a Laporoscopy under general anaesthetic to have a good look round.

Upshot is I'm now on my third cycle of Clomid to get me ovulating. The first 2 cycles worked and I'm now waiting on blood test results for the current one.

Feel free to ask as many questions as you like!

Picklestar · 31/01/2012 16:34

Hi Cazbg welcome, its nice to have somewhere to discuss things with people who are going through similar things.

Sounds very frustrating, but keep going :), we'll all support you :)xxx

Cazbg · 31/01/2012 14:08

Hi,

I have just come across this post and thought it would be good to talk to people who are going through the same thing as me (especially as all my friends seem to be falling pregenant first try!).

I am 29 and been trying for about 6 mths. I have Polycystic ovaries and havent had a period since coming off the pill : (. Had tests with the doctor which show I am not ovulating at the moment... had a scan...now waiting for a gynie appointment. Doctor has told me putting on some weight might help and doing a bit less excercise...all of which I am doing and still nothing!

Just really frustrating!

I would like to just be able to talk with you all on here : )

Ratata · 29/01/2012 21:53

Hellllloooo again all.

Thanks for the advice re: urine pains. I have a urine test each time I go to doc since this is a recurring thing and it's normally normal even when I have proper cystitis (with the burning etc but not usually blood in sample weirdly enough). I had antibiotics in my medication box so started myself on them now. Symptoms have subsided a bit but still got the feeling of pressure down there and random pains. Doc tomorrow!

littlemisslemon my periods always take about 6 weeks to return after coming off pill, I was on Cilest. Pain when they take ages x

Glad the HSG went ok evilgiraffe

Welcome picklestar I too was disappointed when not pregnant in first month, but after reading up on things here I am now prepared for it to take a year or more. I have started using ovulation sticks, got a pack on Amazon for a few pounds for 30. I think we have done it on the right days so fingers crossed this month but not expecting anything :)

Sorry about AF raspberry at least you will still have your appointment to go to, and hopefully start getting some answers to put your mind at rest.

Fingers crossed for you cave

Well I think we have done it on the correct days, had a line on ov sticks for 3 days, slightly fainter than control but now gone so I assume I ovulated around 26th. Been feeling twingy feelings in my lower abdomen but assuming that's to do with the problems I've been having lately.

Picklestar · 29/01/2012 18:22

Will do Beeble bit worried we'll forget after shagging purposely without! Feeling a bit sad about having to use protection, will have to count down the days till I don't again! I'm on steroids, Dr says I shouldn't conceive whilst on them, then wait a week till they're out of my system! :(

Beeblebear · 29/01/2012 18:11

Just remember to use protection while on those antibiotics!

Picklestar · 29/01/2012 17:39

HA HA! Thanx all, will tell DH that he told me a pack of lies and we should recommence the shagging at once! :)!

Rasp that does all sound very dramatic!

Beeblebear · 29/01/2012 17:01

Pickle. If you will be ttc following the two weeks, your dh shouldn't really " save up " for those two weeks or his little swimmers will be tired and old. I have been reading that 3 days is the max time to "save" as after that sperm motility drops dramatically.

Cave no wonder u have been quiet! Me too lots of swi over here. Cd 6, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16.

Rasp, sorry the b. Arrived!

raspberrytipple · 29/01/2012 16:54

No white jeans nearly but I did have to change the bed sheets and clean a bit of carpet along the trail I took to the loo. Very unusual for me, I'm more of a spotter for a few hrs of day 1 but hey ho, they are getting more painful and erractic so I don't really know what to expect at the moment.

Hope the job's going well then fairy - sounds busy at least if it's keeping you away from us lol. How rude :)

cave I am impressed on the swi effort!!! Very impressed indeed! We are going to keep to every other day then every day from day 14 to 20 this month although I've been keeping a note in my diary of when I think I ov and although we are not having loads of sex, we do seem to be swi around the right time. All very confusing!

pickle that sounds intriguing about the tablets! Hope you are ok. Don't forget to make sure DH empties the sperms out first and grows a new batch when you are ready to take up the swi baton again, don't want to start of with sleepy old sperms trying to fight their way up there, you need young verile and full of energy ones!!

OP posts:
Picklestar · 29/01/2012 16:09

7 times in 9 days, very impressed CaveMum! fingers crossed you've ovulated!:)

Ive been told by the Dr because of medication Ive just gone on I'm not allowed to try to conceive for the next 2 weeks! DH said he doesn't want to waste the little swimmers so no shagging for 2 weeks :O, we'll see how long it lasts!

CaveMum · 29/01/2012 12:08

Morning all, sorry to here of your inconvenient arrival raspberry.

Things are pretty quiet for me, really not sure what is going on! Cycle 1 of Clomid I ov'd on Day 17, Cycle 2 on Day 14 and now I'm in Cycle 3 I'm in Day 21 and not convinced ice ovulated at all!! I may have had a temp rise this morning, but won't be able to tell if it's ov related for a few days. I have my blood tests to confirm ov tomorrow and an appointment with a GP on Tuesday to get my next batch of Clomid.

We've been very good about dtd this last week, DH has been home all week (usually works away) and we've managed it 7 times in 9 days - not bad going! I'll be very disappointed if it turns out I've not ov'd at all this cycle.

Fairygodmother1 · 29/01/2012 11:33

Hi ya, sorry went AWOL - new job took over my life!!!

Sorry to hear about AF rasp, white jeans used to work for me as a teenager lol.

NearlyDunne · 29/01/2012 10:45

Welcome picklester
It has been very quiet hasn't it. maybe everyone has taken a new year break and will be back this week :)
rasp the dramatic entrance didn't have anything to do with whit jeans or running through a white house in the nip Grin

raspberrytipple · 29/01/2012 10:26

well, the bitch arrived somewhat dramatically this morning :( At least now it's out of the way for my appointment on Friday. Really hope that it doesn't get cancelled or moved further away again, I think I would have to ring the hospital and cry! Fingers crossed that doesn't happen though. Last lot of blood results are back on Tuesday too.

Hi Picklestar and welcome. Don't feel bad that you were shocked about the negative. I was devastated the first few months that I didn't get a BFP (big fat positive) but I've got used to you now. Hopefully you wont have to and you'll be up the duff before you know it.

Hi Cave You've been quiet lately? Everything ok? xx

Fingers crossed AF arrives soon littlemiss it's so frustrating not being able to get on with the job when you don't know what's going on.

to everyone else. Been a bit quieter in here of late. All busy shagging away are we Grin
