Hi all, just checking in with the most recent investigations! I had a pelvic ultrasound yesterday, the sonographer didn't seem concerned about anything, although I do have a haemorrhagic cyst on one ovary, so may well have to go for a rescan in a few weeks time. It was completely fine, no bother, but I wibbled like mad when I got home. I think because in my head ultrasound = pregnant, I was just hoping that she might find a baby in there, because obviously there's no other reason to be there... :( I guess it's nice to know that I actually have got ovaries, though, it does make you wonder when getting pregnant takes so long.

Josie, hope everything went well :)

Beeblebear · 09/02/2012 00:06

ratata - that show is torture!!!!

All i know is that when I go to L&D i'm bringing an ipod with earphones. I'm not gonna just sit there an listen to all that screaming!

Ratata · 08/02/2012 22:40

Also, just watched One Born Every Minute and soooooo broody.

Ratata · 08/02/2012 21:23

Big hugs raspberry sometimes things are total balls but sending you big cyber hugs (not in a dodgy way haha)

Ratata · 08/02/2012 21:21

raspberry I'm glad some action is being taken to fix things and it may feel scary but you are getting to the bottom of things I think with the lap and dye etc.

josie what you were saying about being selfish, I don't think it's selfishness at all, taking time for yourself is what you need and will help your mind. Everyone else can bugger off for a while :) do what you need to do. And I hope things went well.

Hello mrsmellow I've seen so many people on these boards getting pg quickly as well. I thought I would first month too but oh well :)

beeblebear I'm 27 :)

chocolatewindmill hugs, this TTC lark can get you down after a while. Try to stay positive x

Well I thought I had some kind of implantation bleed as I was on day 23 from finishing last period but turned out my period came early. I was very hopeful as I had lots of weird symptoms but nope, just the old hag! Ah well. Back to TTC in a few days.

On another note, one of my rats was on death's door the other day. Really thought we were going to lose him, young wee thing as well. And he's made a miraculous recovery. I think he may just have needed a very big poo..... Lols. They are my babies Grin til we get a human one!

My SIL is due in a few weeks. So excited!

raspberrytipple · 08/02/2012 18:39

Hope all went well today Josie

Not going to say anything else as still feeling like complete shit.

Hope the appt went well Josie! All fingers andntoes crossed for you.

Still running a fever from my flu so charting is pointless atm, hopefully I'll feel better by next week so we can safely TTC.

CaveMum · 08/02/2012 12:04

Checking in to see how things went for Josie.

Had my blood test back, I have ov'd now, but god knows why so late. Just have to wait out the tww and see.

mrsmellow · 08/02/2012 11:01

Hey Josie hope the appointment went well.
I guess I'll buy a thermometer today cave and see how that goes - I'll be sure to let you know Wink !

Picklestar · 08/02/2012 09:19

Good luck Josie!! Hope it goes really well :-)

CaveMum · 08/02/2012 06:58

Beeblebear · 08/02/2012 02:05

Good lugk josie! Remember to breathe!

PearlFisher · 07/02/2012 23:00

Good luck for tomorrow josie

Hi to chocolate and to everyone else :)

I've been properly menkulling today, lots of boob prodding and general procrastination. It's going to be a long week!

Night all

Nongoddess · 07/02/2012 22:56

All the very best Josie with the first appointment... And good luck raspberry!

Hello mrsmellow I too started ttc in August full of excitement. My manic laugh joins with yours. Really sorry to hear about the job Chocolate and here's to not getting disheartened and keeping going with the folic acid.

Just watching Jeremy trying to deal with the angry breast-implant women on Newsnight. Go for it, ladies!

JosieSmith1 · 07/02/2012 22:49

Hi, just a quick update - first appt with ivf nurse tomorrow, sg myself!

Raspberry sorry you're feeling down, feel free to pm me if you want a chat, I've been there so many times (hugs)

And welcome to our newbies (and not so newbies)

ChocolateWindmill · 07/02/2012 22:31

Hi ladies I've been TTC for 7 months now and feel ready for some moral support! It was all going quite positively until I lost my job and we've slowed down the TTC which is making me a little sad :(

BUT, I think it's time to get back on the horse, so to speak! I'm stocking up on Folic Acid, I'm actually going to start charting, taking temperatures and suchlike and really work on getting myself knocked up!

CaveMum · 07/02/2012 18:22

mrsmellow I don't think climate will affect basal body temp. The key point is that you are looking for an average taken over a whole cycle, not individual changes. Providing you take it on waking (you need to have been resting for at least 3 hours before taking it) you'll be fine.

I temp as a matter of course, but do remember that it can't tell you that you are about to ovulate, it can only tell you that you have. The temperature rise occurs after ovulation so by the time you notice (you need 3 days of an above average reading for it to be confirmed) it's too late to do anything about it.

Beeblebear · 07/02/2012 18:19

Testing in 4 days if af doesn't show before then.

Just out of curiosity how old are all you first time frolickers?

I told my sil wnen we were visiting her over christmas that we were starting to ttc. Now I don't have to tell her over facebook or skype. Poor dh does not know I told her though so it's our little secret!

AmazeballsSuperFandango · 07/02/2012 15:30

She isn't skype friendly iv tried loads of times and it just doesn't work. i sent her a msg so when she replies i shall tell her. Didnt really want to tell family untill i was pg oh well has to be done. id hate her to find out from someone else

mrsmellow · 07/02/2012 14:51

Thanks PearlFisher I've got the FSH kit, but it arrived a bit late this cycle to use, I'm fully signed up for obsessive internet-ttc-ness Blush (although the home sperm kit is new to me, poor DH Wink )
I'm keen to do the basal body temp thing, but am in the southern hemisphere summer (which is very nice!), but does mean that the ambient temperature is anything from 17-28 degrees in our bedroom overnight, we use a fan and I'm just not sure how reliable the readings would be?!? Any ideas? Being overseas is also how I have the luxury of work paid health insurance and can go to gynae by making a phone call without having to go down the NHS referral system, I'm very lucky.
amazeballs can you do Skype? it keeps us sane and in touch with family and friends? But Facebook chat is also great if you can type at speed. Is it likely to be a big surprise for your sister?

AmazeballsSuperFandango · 07/02/2012 14:18

Hey all im not new here but was rumbled by RL and had to name change.... now have to tell sis im ttc as i know she is on here and if her friend guessed it was me she most probably has also.
Ill have to tell her over fb which is crap as i cant afford to ring her (different countries no landline)
how the flip do i open that convo???
Hi all newbies and oldie newbies i hope this thread does what it does for me and helps you and makes you smile :)

PearlFisher · 07/02/2012 13:13

Oh forgot to add - hope the gynae appt goes well and puts your mind at rest. I did one of those internet female fertility checks recently. It checks for raised FSH, and whilst this is only one of a myriad of things that could be wrong, it did cheer me up when it was negative (if had been +ve would have used it as a reason to demand early GP appt). Home sperm analysis kit is next on the agenda if this cycle is unsuccessful!!

PearlFisher · 07/02/2012 13:08

Hi and welcome MrsM :)
What you have described is exactly why I wanted to join this thread too. With regards to establishing that you have ovulated, I would recommend recording your basal body temp as well as OPKs. I've only started doing it this month (cycle 7), and already it has shown me that this month I ov'd about 3 days after getting a positive on my internet cheapy OPK - before I had assumed that it would be 1-2 days after. Am not regimentally timing sex or anything, but I'm hoping it will help now that I'm aware I'm ovulating around day 18 rather than day 14.

mrsmellow · 07/02/2012 11:19

Hello all,

I think I joined the thread briefly back in August when I stopped the pill (back when I believed I'd get pregnant in the first month, oh how we manically laugh now Grin ). But having joined a bus/shuttle or two and letting it all get me down slightly, (and getting slightly irritated irrationally at people trying to conceive number 3 and being successful first time?! Envy ) I think this seems like a better thread, so please can I come back!

I went on the pill in my late teens for painful periods and apart from a year break in 2005 had been on it for nearly 16yrs when I stopped at the start of August... and yet I still wonder why my ovaries are so confused Hmm !
I've had 4 long (40-45 day) cycles with very light AF in-between and really nothing useful in the way of EWCM or symptoms to make me think that anything is happening so have convinced myself they're anovulatory (something I'd never heard of in the days pre-mumsnet...oh those innocent ignorant days Smile )
So, to find out, I've booked a private gynae appointment for next week when I'll be mid-cycle (I'm dreaming of seeing black and white dots on a screen and someone telling me its an ovary with follicles... we all have different hopes and dreams Wink )
In the meantime, we're having alternate day sex just in case I'm a hypochondriac and am actually ovulating and I've got some OPK's off the internet which I guess I should start trying in the next few days..(I don't really understand the instructions Blush )
So after that ridiculously long introduction, that's my story, hello!

PearlFisher · 07/02/2012 08:49

Morning Frolickers!

Thanks for the welcome cave :) Hope your results confirm OV and that the nurses have some idea why it was so late.

Sorry to hear that things are so hard raspberry. Hope you get your lap & dye date soon x

I'm in those difficult days near the end of the tww. ERTD due this weekend, when I'm visiting friends with a young baby. Hope my temp gives me advance warning so I can get over feeling sorry for myself!

Have a good day everyone x
