New thread..... let's get going!!

OP posts:
Fairygodmother1 · 18/02/2012 08:59

Are you on Metformin too? I used both. Metformin helped clear up the cysts. I was on clomid on it's own a few years ago & although I ovulated, it just didn't work on it's own!

CaveMum · 18/02/2012 08:13

My ovulation has been all over the place. My PCOS meant I only had 4 periods in the space of 18 months! I had hoped that the Clomid would get me more regular, and I thought it had done until this cycle!

So far I've been:

Cycle 1 - ov'd on Day 16
Cycle 2 - ov'd on Day 14
Cycle 3 - ov'd on Day 26

Not much sign of a pattern there!

Fairygodmother1 · 18/02/2012 08:04

I also found out that I was ovulating later than I thought - day 18 for me & we DTD untill after the OPK didn't detect any more. Mine were ebay cheapies!

CaveMum · 18/02/2012 07:18

Thanks Fairy. I borrowed a Clear Blue Fertility Monitor for this cycle, but it didn't pick up on my peak. I think the extra hormones caused by the Clomid confused it!
I might double up and get some cheap Internet OPKs to use as well this time!

Fairygodmother1 · 18/02/2012 07:13

Aww big hugs Cavemum
This was my 4th round & I honestly think my success was using OPKs! Thats the only thing we did differently & the last 4 1/2 years!

CaveMum · 18/02/2012 07:00

Morning all, a quick post from me to say I tested this morning and got a BFN Sad.

I'm not as upset as I thought I'd be, the last two cycles have ended up with me in tears, so this is progress I guess.

Once AF shows up, which, knowing Sod's Law will be later today, it'll be Round 4 of Clomid here I come.

Hope everyone has a good day Smile

Ladybythebeach · 17/02/2012 16:44

Josie, just scanned back to see what your injections are for....glad it wasn't as scary as you thought. Sure you'll get used to it soon. Fingers crossed for you.

JosieSmith1 · 17/02/2012 14:44

Congratulations Fairy!!

Welcome to our newbies [waves]

Appt went well, first time I've left the clinic not feeling depressed! We both had to practice injecting into a fake bit of stomach fat Hmm then DH had to inject salt water into me so I knew how it felt. I was so terrified! We must have looked ridiculous! I was holding my stomach in one hand, DHs hand in the other so he only had one hand to inject with, I had my eyes squeezed shut, was wiggling my toes and blowing out my breath (helps me stay calm) Grin. He said it was ok though and he can do it one handed until I'm brave enough not to need to hold his hand Grin. It stung like crazy at first but was nowhere near as bad as I was anticipating. The needle is long but really really fine. I'm not as worried about Sunday as I was, although I still think the first few will be scary until I get used to it. I've got a teeny red pin prick on my stomach, I'll look like I've got a funny rash at the end of the three weeks Grin

Hope you are all ok

Beeblebear · 17/02/2012 13:24

Hooray fairy! Congrats on your bfaintp(lol)

CEDR · 17/02/2012 11:42

Hurrah for these BFP. Some work stuff for my future has been slightly resolved this week, so I'm feeling more positive. Despite being ill and tired most the time (2012 is rubbish!) we really need to get on with some of that swi or whatever you lot call it. I hate being too tired to consider the thought of a good shag!

maamalady · 17/02/2012 09:52

Congratulations, Fairy!

No news from me - AF not here as yet, temperature this morning is a slight improvement on yesterday, but both days have been significantly lower than the whole of last week so an extra day's grace isn't exciting me.

Fairygodmother1 · 17/02/2012 09:18

I know - done 2 tests now - both faint but there. Keep looking at them. Really can't believe it!!!!

Going to get a digital one today!!!

Ladybythebeach · 17/02/2012 07:47

Not to confuse anyone - have had a slight name change! However, only just joined thread.

Congratulations Fairy - how exciting.

CaveMum · 17/02/2012 07:14

Wow Fairy, congratulations! As they say, a line is a line Grin

Fairygodmother1 · 17/02/2012 06:46

Hey Raspberry, Sorry been AWOL!

POAS today!

BFaintP!!!!! Grin

PearlyFish · 16/02/2012 22:54

Thanks cave I had a peep on there and they do look lovely.

Really really hope you will be graduating to that thread too, and good luck whatever you decide to do this weekend. Sometimes it's easier to wait and see, and sometimes it's easier to get on and POAS :)

CaveMum · 16/02/2012 22:23

Pearl, when you feel brave enough do go and say hi on the First Time Frolickers ante-natal thread. They're a lovely bunch and will be more than happy to offer advice.

Well, still no sign of AF. I'll test over the weekend if there is no sign in the next 24-48 hours. Part of me doesn't want to test as i know I'll be so disappointed if it is negative Sad

PearlFisher · 16/02/2012 22:18

Hey all, still lurking on this thread as I don't dare join an antenatal thread yet [silly]. Just wanted to say thanks everyone for the congratulations and to wave to the newbies :)

Mrsmellow sorry to hear about your scan results. Hope there is someone on here who can advise and fingers crossed for you getting a BFP while you are waiting.

Josie hope your appointment was ok today and good luck for Sunday!

Lots of luck to cave and evil and everyone else waiting to POAS, and Wine for everyone waiting for appointments or for the witch to depart!

Picklestar · 16/02/2012 14:00

Welcome MCT76 and Lady and good luck hope you fall preggers soon!

MCT76 sorry to hear about the AF arriving! will you do more IUI? x

Lady I'm also quite new to TTC in to my 2nd month now. Am trying ovulation sticks to find out when I'm ovulating. I'm definitely in the 'madly looking up baby products online' brigade! :o!

LadyBourne · 16/02/2012 10:39

Morning ladies,

Am so pleased to have found this thread.....

Started TTC this month and am keeping quiet about it so look forward to being able to share things on here.

Am completely new to even thinking about TTC (was told before Christmas that I have endometriosis, so that combined with turning 30 recently has prompted me to get on with it when I thought I still had a few years!) so am unfamiliar with all the acronyms and lingo - I'll try to get up to speed asap!

p.s. I am soooo pleased to hear that some of you are madly looking up baby products online, glad I'm not the only one. Grin

MCT76 · 16/02/2012 09:35

Hi everyone,

I hope it's ok to join you on this rocky road...I've been lurking for a while and reading about your stories and I have to say that I admire everyone's strength and willingness to support one another during some very tough times. It's nice to hear some positive outcomes to keep going and focusing on the final destination but as of today, I am throwing a small pity party for myself as I found out this morning that my first go at IUI has failed...I was due to take the pg test first thing but was woken up in the middle of the night by a particularly nasty visit from AF before schedule and with a lot of pain...joy!

We've been trying for 2 years and fought to be referred to the fertility clinic a year ago as soon as I turned 35...I'm 36 next week and really not looking forward to it this time as it is another stark reminder of how time is ticking by. I'm hoping that some well-earned Wine and a few more tears will help release some of the tension. I'm off to the hospital tomorrow to start the process all over again...

Good luck to all and I'll pop round later...

Nongoddess · 15/02/2012 20:28

Oh, and fingers totally crossed for you pippi sounds really hopeful Smile Drchrissy I'm envying your military style operation. Can't kick my coffee habit though I'm really trying hard...

Nongoddess · 15/02/2012 20:24

Josie it sounds so positive! Really good luck to you!

And lovely to know the happy news for beeble and Pearl. Looking forward to hearing more bfp news, alas not here, because just got AF... O dear. Now laying into Wine and comfort-reading Polly Williams, while supposed to be writing work project. Always next month!

Keep going with the sticks pickle sure there will be happy news for you soon.

Picklestar · 15/02/2012 19:27

Hi to all the newbies, good luck!

Josie your DH sounds really lovely and supportive, got everything crossed for you, hope it goes well! Twins would be lovely :).

Got my fingers crossed for you too pippi!

same drchrissy i thought I'd fall the first month. Ive gone a but OTT with it and done loads of reading and planning!

No news here just continuing to do ovulation sticks, really hoping they say I ovulate soon!

mrsmellow · 15/02/2012 15:05

Wow josie - very exciting times, I hope it all goes well. It is really quite an involved process, I had no idea, but I'm sure worth it. I read the NICE guidelines on fertility yesterday publications.nice.org.uk/fertility-cg11/guidance#initial-advice-to-people-concerned-about-delays-in-conception
I found this quite useful, just to know what what the recommendations are. DH and I have decided to 'try' for another cycle and a half (CD16 today) and then initiate investigations/clomid...

pippi Gosh, I really hope you get your BFP and it sticks, such a long time to be trying to have a baby, it really is your turn now!
And cave you too... lets have a weekend of bfp's for the thread..
