New thread..... let's get going!!

Hi all, I've also been absent for some time due to various unexpected circumstances which had me travelling back to my home country (Argentina) for two weeks due to a family emergency (my aunt was in intensive care and we thought she wasn't going to make it so I decided to go to be with her and help my mum out as my auntie is on her own and has no other close family apart from the two of us). She is a bit better now and at home but her prognosis is serious so we'll just have to wait and see.

I'd had my second IUI a few days before I left so I had to take the test on my own, thousands of miles away from home....to my absolute shock, I got a BFP! I couldn't believe it (still can't) and couldn't tell a soul so I spoke and wrote to DH as much as I could. I had my 6-week scan this morning and everything looks fine so far but I am not allowing myself to get carried away as I know it's early days...it's so hard though! We've told no one yet but I thought I should share it with you ladies as you've been a great support.

Josie: I really hope it works for you. I also thought my chances were slim due to the statistics about IUI and all that but it did work so I wish you all the best and will keep everything crossed for you.

Evil: I hope your results come back ok and it's nothing to be concerned about. As the other wise ladies have said, Google can be the enemy but it is almost impossible to resist the urge, isn't it?

Pickle: Good luck. It is so hard to tell if symptoms are pregnancy-related, period-related or simply psychological sometimes...it's enough to drive anyone potty. I've also got a funny cycle and never ever know when anything is supposed to happen. It sucks...sending you good thoughts.

Thank you for your support and I will be popping in to see how you're all getting on.

Best wishes to all Thanks

Hi all, Sorry Ive been a bit absent have been moving house, all been a bit hectic, but has been quite nice distracting myself from the ttc obsession I seem to have found myself with.

I'm trying to not get my hopes up, but ive been feeling quite nauseous, my breasts have been quite sore and I'm knackered. Its 16 days since my last small bleed (periods have been irregular), could I be showing signs of pregnancy this early? If I'm not pregnant then I'm really worried! I took a pregnancy test yesterday, which was negative, but I'm thinking I tested too early. Although because I don't know how long my cycle is I don't know when to test again! help!

Hope everyones ok! x

Sending lots of sticky thoughts for Fred and Ginger Grin

Nothing to report here, I'm CD15 and I've had no sign of ovulation. All my OPK's have been negative so I've told DH there is no point in him coming home for the next day or two (he works 200 miles away so lives away during the week). Hopefully I'll ov over Easter as DH will be home from Thursday until next Wednesday.

JosieSmith1 · 03/04/2012 13:57

Grin Grin MrsMellow I'm loving the laid back approach. Unfortunately FiL is in pretty deep water, we're not sure what he's going to be charged with but it could be really bad. I don't mean this to sound awful, but it'll be a good distraction

mrsmellow · 03/04/2012 13:21

Evil I agree with the others, I'm sure they are cautionary blood tests (rule out rather than rule in). Still crap having to wait for results - do call, and even if they won't give you the interpretation of them, get the numbers.

Josie hoping Fred and Ginger are getting very comfortable. So crap for your FIL months down the line, hope it is nothing serious.

My hangover was epic- am in the "I'm not drinking for April mode" which I expect to last until at least the weekend Wink
I keep having flashbacks of embarrassing things I said - DH says they're not so bad and I was just very entertaining, but I did tell one very good friend who has a wee baby that condoms weren't a good source of contraception as they take away spontaneity... needless to say she laughed and laughed at the idea of spontaneity when you have a small baby....what would I know Shock

I felt so bad about drinking tequila, I dug out some multi-vitamins ( I don't take them regularly as they make me slightly nauseated Envy ) As if that will undo any harm of hard liquor Hmm

New leaf as of, ermm, now! Grin

JosieSmith1 · 03/04/2012 10:37

Prickly I?m now on daily pessaries (oh the glamour Grin) but no injections, thank god, I honestly don?t think I could have done many more, my stomach looks like a dot to dot! I hope the marks go away though, I don?t want to look like I?ve got a rash!

Evil when will you get the results? I agree with others, google is bad, and if they were really worried they wouldn?t have sent a letter. I hope everything is ok though.

MrsMellow I am currently Grin at your hangover, sorry Grin

Cave have fun Wink

Not a lot going on here, I keep asking ?Fred and Ginger? what they?re up to, but they won?t tell me Grin I?m praying for them though. I worked out implantation won?t be until sometime between Thu and Mon so I?ve still got a while to wait, although I?m going mad already! I?m acting pg though, it?s quite comforting, even if it?s only temporary. FiL is being charged at the police station on Friday though, for an accident he had in December while driving (not his fault might I add) so that?s definitely a distraction, worrying times! I?m trying not to stress too much though, it?s bad for Fred and Ginger Grin

PricklyPickle · 02/04/2012 21:50

Evil did they give you any indication of how long you're going to have to wait?

Remember the internet always gives you worst case scenario. I know at least 5 people who have been called in to have blood tests from things found in scans and smears, all of them have been just fine.

Listen to Raspberry, she's obviously a wise woman.

raspberrytipple · 02/04/2012 21:41

evil did you have dodgy results on a CA125 test? Thats the marker for ovarian cancer (one of them) and I had exactly the as you and panicked. It is also an indicator of cysts, fibroids and endo too so try not to worry to much. If nothing else the results come back quite quickly, ring and ask to speak to the doctor, that's what I did as I was so panicky about it but it looks to be fine x

Never fear, I'm not self-diagnosing, but I do like to know what my blood is being tested for. Clearly there's reason to check, anyway, which is rather disturbing - I'd much rather there was nothing to raise a concern at all, however small said concern may be.

CaveMum · 02/04/2012 19:18

Oh evil, please step away from the Google! No good can come of it!

[remembers self-diagnosing skin cancer on my face when it was just impetigo Blush ]

If there were serious concerns they wouldn't have sent a letter, they'd have called and asked you to come in straight away.

(((hugs)))

maamalady · 02/04/2012 15:10

Well done Josie :) I am keeping my fingers crossed hard for you!

I'm having an odd time of it at the moment - got home on Friday and found I had a letter from the hospital telling me they need to do a blood test for a few things after my last scan. Being the scientist that I am, I looked them all up, and they're all ovarian cancer markers. Despite the letter being quite firm that "there is no evidence yet to think there is anything wrong" I immediately burst into tears and have felt decidedly off-kilter all weekend.

I've just been to have the bloods done - and even though it's more convenient to do it while I'm at work (going to the GP to get it done would have involved way more time/effort/rigmarole), going into the maternity hospital is like going into a special kind of hell. Babies and pregnant women everywhere (one of whom was wearing "yummy mummy in training" t-shirt which made me a little bit) and a baffled look from the nurse when I handed her my non-usual form for bloods.

Now we wait. I'm not quite sure how to feel.

mrsmellow · 01/04/2012 16:55

josie that is great news about your follicles and IUI, fingers crossed for the next two weeks..
Have fun cave
I'm CD27...last cycle 35 days and the 4 before that 42-45 days ish, so still having SWI just in case....
Had a BIG night out last night (tequila is never a good thing Blush ) so hope not pregnant or will presumably spend the next 3 years worrying about the effects of it....
Very hungover... horrible, I'm really old enough to know better!

littlemisslemon · 01/04/2012 12:10

Have everything crossed for you josie and glad the appt went well. you'll have to think of lots of nice things to do over the next 2 weeks to help the time pass! :)

PricklyPickle · 01/04/2012 10:50

Try not to break him in doors Wink

CaveMum · 31/03/2012 20:30

CD12 here, been using OPKs for a few days now, cheapys and CBFM, and no sign of an LH surge yet. We'll get down to it this evening and every day from now till I ov - hopefully!

PricklyPickle · 31/03/2012 19:24

Are you spending all your time standing on your head Josie? Very happy it went well for you, is there anything else you need to or do now like injections or anything? Or are you literally just waiting for 2 weeks?

I'm not going to test again this month, there wasn't a hint of a BFP, I'm on CD5 now so if I was, then it would have shown up by now. I'm moving on with beer and pizza tonight. Woop woop.

How's life in the Cave?

CaveMum · 31/03/2012 16:28

Glad the procedure went well Josie. Lots of "swim, swim, swim" thoughts coming your way!

Pickle sorry to hear you got a BFN. It is very disheartening. If you still haven't had a proper period in a few days try again.

JosieSmith1 · 31/03/2012 13:02

Sorry to hear that Prickly I think we all started out the same though - PingOAS very often in the hope it would be a BFP so don't beat yourself up.

IUI went well yesterday. It was nice and quiet in the clinic as they don't usually do surgeries on friday afternoons so there was just us in. It didn't take very long, and wasn't too uncomfortable. I was a bit crampy afterwards but I was after my HSG aswell so I was expecting that. Not much feeling now, a bit sore on my left ovary but that's nothing. I'm just now feeling like I'm going slowly mad, wondering what's going on in there, and if they've been fertilised, and if they're going to implant (and when) etc etc. Oh well, only 2 weeks to go!

PricklyPickle · 31/03/2012 12:00

Morning ladies, well I've had an odd time. I had a 1 day long really light AF and felt crappy, bloated, tired and sniffley so I decided to POAS this morning. This was my first time.

I got a BFN and it turned out I just needed a really big poo

Next time I shall show more restraint.

Flickstar · 30/03/2012 08:41

GO josie! Fingers crossed for your Frolicker twinnies! Big waves to raspberry and cave xxxx

CaveMum · 30/03/2012 08:11

Good luck Josie, absolutely everything crossed for you!

JosieSmith1 · 30/03/2012 08:08

Thanks Smile Today is the day! I'm so scared that it won't work and I'll be heartbroken (I'm already attached to my eggs!) but for now I'm going to put that thought to the back of my mind and enjoy being excited for a change. I'm gonna make two babies!!!!! GrinGrin

mrsmellow · 29/03/2012 01:13

woo hoo fingers crossed!! good luck josie

JosieSmith1 · 28/03/2012 16:50

They certainly did Cave and I'm eternally grateful for them Smile

I sometimes think IUI isn't really that successful, but then I think, well if I'm not ovulating regularly naturally, with IUI I have 2 eggs being released, and the best quality, washed sperm being put in exactly the right position, so my chances must be better. And my chances are definitely better than getting pg naturally, so bring it on Grin

PricklyPickle · 28/03/2012 13:34

That's great news Grin Its amazing what a turn around you've had in just a few days. So potentially you'll get 2 eggs, which will double your chances. That's just amazing! So happy for you.

Don't apologise, we're all rooting for you.
