Woken up to the sad news that a close family friend died of cancer last night, he has been getting progressively worse over the last few weeks so it is not a surprise, probably a bit of a relief for the family as he was still just able to be at home and would've needed to go to a hospice v soon, but still so so sad not quite sure what to do with myself now as don't really feel like sleeping again but too tired to get up yet iyswim? DH out all day too so will just need to keep myself busy from when I do get up!

On a different note IQ so so glad all good with the scan and you're able to start 'getting to know' little mini feisty IQ who's hiding away in there!

In terms of rollcall I'm not even going to try right now as on my phone and it'll all go horribly wrong I'm sure!

Welcome to baubles so sorry to hear why your hear but agree with the other ladies that this place couldn't be more supportive to those TTC and those hanging onto their sanity by a thread (currently pregnant after MC)!!

I will catch up properly but feeling slightly off colour - I think I ate something which hasn't agreed with me but then again it could be start of my dreaded acid reflux - will catch up properly later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Well we had our 4D scan today and it was AMAZING, I still had the "is she ok feeling" whilst waiting for the probe to roll over but she looked fabulous. The Dr (who is just brilliant in my opinion) gave us a full anatomical check......it was much more thorough than the 20 week scan we'd had on the NHS. When I told DH that he was a bit but as I explained it seems that with maternity care you often get what you pay for. So anyway we got some amazing photographs of the little one and video clips, she kept putting her hands over her face but the Dr was very patient and made sure we had some lovely ones to take home with us. It was soooo good to be able to "meet" her and to be honest the best part was the Dr checking everything and saying that the placenta and cord was perfect and all producing the necessary to keep baby alive. Definitely the best £200 of DH's money that I have ever spent!!!!!

Welcome bauble, I'm sorry. I'd take the vitamins, yes.

Thanks Pie - I have had AF since my MC, we resumed TTC straight away after the MC and I got my first AF 29 days after the event. I'm now 30 days on from there...

Leedy I go with rivers of gore. Though I don't actually get those myself, I tend towards a trickle or a smear - when AF is undeniable I think, but I'm not a charter, really - just count days on my fingers a lot.

Sorry you're feeling off Blue. Aches are awful.

Ooh, shiny new thread. And sorry that you need to be here, bauble, but it's a good place to be if you need to be, if you know what I mean.

Quick charting question: haven't done this in ages, do you count the first day of spotting or the first day of actual RIVERS OF GORE as "day 1"?

bauble so sorry you need to come and join us but rest assured these ladies are truly fab and lots of venting of sadness and frustration is totally acceptable on here!!

poppy no H&S assessment at all yet...think I should chase that up! Pain in bump area got a lot worse earlier but think today it may be lovely trapped wind Haven't got a number for my MW as not got one assigned as such (one attached to my GP practice on mat leave so I have an assortment of whoever is available), rang GPs and they're shut for a deep clean this afternoon and were useless, said to ring hospital...rang antenatal unit who put me through to the triage MW who said she couldn't really help as she doesn't see anyone until they're at least 18w but that I should drink water and take paracetamol and go to A&E if not better in 3 hours wasn't v impressed TBH. Have come home so I can rest and put some more comfy clothes on and quietly surf the internet/use MN without being disturbed by work and rest and see what happens, it is a bit better but at least if it is wind then it can release at any time and as loudly as it wants now that I'm at home

Hi bauble am so sorry about what happened to you, I read the BESH thread and I know you had qutie a journey to get there which makes it even more heartbreaking. Don;t underestimate how hard this is and be gentle to yourself.
You are in the right place though this is an incredibly supportive thread.
Don;t be alarmed if you feel and think things you never thought possible before, I developed real rage about how easy everyone I know finds it to get and stay pregnant and I really strarted to dislike the person I was becoming. It is a completely normal reaction.

pie I can't believe you are 11 weeks already that is such fantastic news and I am keeping everything crossed for you. Have you carried on taking the B VITS?
Sadly I think MCs do mean that you have lost your innocence and I think you will be worried the whole way through but from what I have read the 12 and 20 week scans are when people start to relax a bit more. I don't think any of us will really relax until we have a baby in our arms though will we? And then we can start to panic about them!

blue I have no idea about that but can you call your midwife for some reassurance?

What is everyone up to this weekend? We are off to a wedding and its one of the last I think as most our friends have tied the knot now!

Sorry about AF, martha. You can join me in the next cycle too. I found a good reason for not being pregnant last night...yes, finally! Wine! We held the pta xmas disco last night and the build up and the event was very busy after our old chair stropped out so the leftover wine at the end of the night went out an absolute treat, I can tell you!! That and the mountain of sickly sweet carrot cake. I was in heaven!

A little question for peeps if I may...now 15+3 but my (mini)bump seems to ache a lot most of the time...is this normal?? I did have bad back ache last weekend and on an off during the week, but think that may have been constipation related though things do seem to be 'moving' down there again so don't think it's that. Just metalling that something is worng as not felt any movement yet either...

manda sorry about the cough...probably worth seeing docs today as a pre-emptive strike today...otherwise it will typically get worse over the weekend.

We've had no power (elec/heating/hot water) since 8pm last night which meant by this morning the house was baltic (god knows how DS didn't wake up through the storm/tiles/freezing temperature in his room) and it was um interesting getting us all ready by torchlight this morning! Had to decamp all of our frozen foods to my parents as well hope it's back on my tonight! A trampoline in the village has also caused destruction by smashing a car, broke somebody's upstairs window and when a couple of the blokes went out to try and dismantle it before it could cause any more chaos it hit one of them on the head and he had to go to hospital!

Hope your cough gets better soon manda, not good right before a weekend especially when it seems there is nothing pregnant ladies can take for it! I know that hand, foot and mouth is doing the rounds at the nurseries here. Three of DS's friends have it so i'm really hoping he's next (thankfully NHS site say it's rare for adults to catch it so hopefully not dangerous for pregnancies!)

misseltoe is there anybody you can call to chase up the results? It took me nearly 8weeks to get AF back and my loss was at 7 weeks. I think it can vary quite wildly, have you spoken to your GP about it?

I'm now coming up for 11w and constantly analysing every twinge and back pain thinking it might be a miscarriage on its way. Will this fear ever go away?!

IQ enjoy the 4D scan today! We had one with DS and it was lovely. We were in there for ages and got lovely pics and a DVD to take away :)

Oh no Manda. It's like a snot fountain in this house too. DD is always bringing little bugs back from school, thankfully we're all pretty fit and healthy and as yet they've not been enough to do anything other then be annoying drains of energy we could do without. This most current one seems to come with a nasty cough - she's been coughing all night which means noone gets much kip at all and I get unreasonably angry with her for failing to control her cough (What I mean is she's only five and tries to 'cough it out' - coughing and coughing in the hope that'll get rid and refuses to take a warm drink or a linctus or even just sit up/change position/try to stifle it - she just goes on and on and on till she gets distressed and starts wailing that she can't get the cough out). I had to wake her up for school this morning, that's never happened before.

I hope your cough feels better soon or you get a docs appt. I have just talked far too much about coughing, sorry.

Aha! Carrot cake! Well, I was thinking of leaving y'all behind, but if there's carrot cake, I suppose I shall stay after all

Nice new thread, poppy thanks! I think it was a good move include those of us who have already conceived again and stay around to give advice to those still trying... uh, not because we are too scared to move anywhere else. Oh no.

Cold symptoms easing off for me... to be relaced by a hacking cough which is finally producing something after a day and a half. Naturally, it would be a friday, wouldn't it? When I have to make the decision of trying to get an 'emergency' last minute appointment with the Dr in case it gets worse over the weekend or leaving it in the hope it doesn't get worse... in which case it obviously will.

Grrr.

My DH has always been pretty detached from babies in utero, I think because we lost our very first one. He began to be excited about this most recent one, but didn't cry at any of our scan pics - did when we found out he had died, but not when he was born. Still no word on post mortem results, nine weeks later - they said up to twelve weeks, doesn't that make it Christmas

I am still metalling this cycle in the continued absence of AF. Not that that means much of course, I know my cycles aren't exactly guaranteed to be regular after a loss. And technically she could have been due as early as the 7th or as late as today........
