TTC after miscarriage - A New Start to a New Year x x x

we get the milk deliviered. we have to have milk bags, milk bottles, syringes and the giving sets (hook the bags of milk up to the peg and put them through the machine). we get the delievery every four weeks so we have to store loads of equipment. it's handy that they delivier but it's a pain storing it.

Ahh I'm glad to hear that she is doing well . I'm sure as she gets older and bigger she willbe able to come off the PEG feeds. I really hope it gets better.

Hello again, kk with the peg feeding do they supply you with all the food substitute (drs i mean) or do you make things up and syringe it through tube? Hope you dont mind me asking, just never seen it used in a home environment.

hopefully, but we can't really say yes until it happens. i do hope so. she's now allowed to have liquids orally but she doesn't like drinking. she will only take a few sips of water and that's it. we tried her off the peg feeds for a day but she took so little that we couldn't not top her up through the peg. she now has 600ml of milk and 100ml of water through the peg. before she had the peg put in she would only take about 100ml - 200ml of liquids a day (even that was a struggle to do) and her nappies were barely noticable as being wet. speech therapist thought it might be going down the wrong way again (into her lungs) so they recommended the ng tube but as it became more perminent than last time she had an ng tube it was suggested she had a peg put in. at first she was still being really sick (she has severe gastic reflux) but they put her domperidone medicine up (antisickness medicine which makes her digest things quicker). she's now up to the 2nd centile for her weight and has loads of wet nappies.

Will she ever come off PEG feeding?

she's 20 months. i agree with you if it was one of my niece's or nephew's and i hadn't experienced peg feeding i'd want to learn it just incase their mum was ever ill. i find it really hard when i'm ill i have to just get on with things so i'm hoping i have an easy pg. mind you, i never mind any of my niece's or nephew's these days if their mum's ill as i can't risk dd getting ill, she always takes badly to illnesses and it's another trip back to hospital. so best if we avoid all ill people!

Perhaps they just feel that if anything went wrong they couldn't deal with it. I know I would find it hard (although the difference is, I would give it a go!) Its kind of fear of the unknown isn't it. Until they have done it once they will always be afraid of doing it. Vicious circle really.

How old is DD?

it ain't hard to do peg feeding but my family don't want anything to do with it. maybe it's their way of getting out of babysitting, yet i always babysit for them. oh well, no big lose really i'd still worry with leaving her after everything she's been through.

KK - I am so sorry but I am so naive and don't really know what peg feeding is. Sorry, I am a little thick

i agree with you, i didn't finish my childcare course to become a nursery nurse because i got pg, which gave me loads more childcare experience than any course does about it. because dd has a cardiac condition, is peg fed and has learning problems i want to look after her myself until she can go into a special needs school. this is why i'd like to have another child whilst i'm at home. once dd is in school the other child should be at a nice age for nursery and then i can get back to doing something outside the house. sometimes i find it hard, i'd like to do part time work just to give me a break from the house and so that dd isn't as clingy as what she is but we don't have anything around here for her and my family don't ever look after her because of the peg. we also want her to have a brother or sister close in age. once we looked at the good and bad points we found the good points outweighed the bad points and also we both just feel the time is right for another.

Well, this Access course runs til Xmas this year. I won't be able to complete it if I am PG. I would be due before it finishes. But I could do it another time - or the college may find a way of me doing it. I'll cross that bridge if I need to. If I could complete it, the certificate I get holds for 2 years so I could defer my entry to Uni for a couple of years so not all is lost. Anyway, I would rather be pG!

how long does your course take? could you fit it around having a baby?

Thanks KK! I hope it will happen! If it is going to it will be this month - the month I start my course! That would be just typical! Ah well, what will be, will be!

well i've got my fingers crossed for you, i'm really hoping you get your positive.

KK - I know what you mean about getting a strong result nice and early. I knew from the word go that something was a miss with my last PG because even after a week after AF was due, I was still getting a weak result. This time though I know 100% I have OVed late in the month and therefore won't get a BFP til much later

that's what happened whe i had my mc, it showed up a week later and was still very faint. that's why i was so keen on getting a result early or on the day as i thought it might show that i've got a good pg this time (fingers crossed). with dd the test was very faint as i went the loo, then went the chemist to buy the test and then squeezed a wee out as i couldn't wait four hours i knew i was pg and she wasn't planned. it was very very faint but it was a positive. i'm so glad we had her though, a very happy accident! this time it feels strange planning it but i'm made up dd will have a brother or sister close in age.

Sorry forgot to add, I had the same feeling about the test I did yesterday as I didnthat BFN I had with last PG. I just knew!

KK, at "dipping". I used First Response last time I had a BFP (unfortunately the PG I MCed ) There was a bit of a story behind my last BFP though. I missed my AF on the SUnday, but thought nothing of it, just waited for her to arrive late. By the following Friday I was testing. I used a cheap Superdrugs own brand. I got a BFN but couldn't help think it was wrong. I asked my friend if she still had a few hospital tests at home (a friend of hers is a family planning nurse and she always hsa some freebies in stock!!) so she gave me one and there was the faintest line, I was the only one able to see it. I showed another friend and she couldn't make it out, but I just knew! I got some First Response tests and by the following Sunday (a week after AF was due) I had a good BFP on one of those. As I said though unfortunately I MCed .

i used first response this time and it worked for me, i got bfp on fri and af should have been here today. i collected my sample first then dipped the stick into it, lovely!

KK - pmsl! I'm never away from MN!! hehe!! I'd be hard pushed not to come back and tell you al the outcome!! Planning on doing a test on Tuesday, as I don't have one here, and I want to give it til at least 10dpo. But I promise as soon as I know a result, I will tell you all, good or bad.

BTW, what is the most sensitive test on the high street? Is it First Response?

hello everone. ch have you got another test? if so i'd do one tomorrow morning. i didn't drink much the night before i did my test so my pee was extra strong! anyways, i'd deffo test again as i could only see my pregnancy test with dd as being a positive when put next to the window! i really hope it is a positive, please get back on mn as soon as you have done the next test to let us all know.

Mygirl - I dreamt a week or so ago I got a BFP! Weird!! Anyway, not getting hopes up too high, coz they only get dashed, and I have a lot to think about at the moment so don't want emotions getting in the way! But we will get a better picture on Tuesday.

UCAS application form all complete, paid for and sent this morning! So hopefully will get a date in the spring for an interview at the uni! oo-er! nerve wracking!!
