Maccy I would test again with my last 2 pg it took 3 weeks for a positive result to show up so you never know.

cherrypiew3 · 05/12/2011 21:29

Evening Ladies,

Congratulations to the BFPSmile

Spellcheck sorry to hear about what you have been through.

Well had a lovely weekend away with DH and got in lots of SWI shame I think it was just a little bit to late AF is due on Friday.
We are moving house in the new year and if AF shows up we are really thinking about stopping ttc for the moment. I really don't want to but wonder if it would be best for now what do you Ladies think I am really struggling with this decision at the moment carry on or wait.

MaccyH · 05/12/2011 21:28

Hi all, I'd like to join you all, seems friendly & cosy on the Polar Express but really not sure of any of my dates after a no show from AF over a week ago!

We have been TTC #1 for 4 months & for the 1st time, AF was late in Nov. Tested a couple of days later but got BFN. Now over a week late and still no sign of AF.

Has anyone else experienced this & is it worth testing again or am I just getting my hopes up unnecessarily? Is a week between tests long enough to leave it?

Trying not to keep thinking about it & whether test could be wrong but cycle has always been pretty regular up till now so very puzzled as to where AF is!

piggyboo · 05/12/2011 21:19

SWI= sex with intent :)

No tree here either, is on my to do list for tomorrow x

Elizadoesdolittle · 05/12/2011 20:23

Hi ladies, and welcome newbies.

Spellcheck, so sorry to read your story. Here's hoping this is a very lucky bus for you.

It's not looking good for me this month. DH put his back out at the weekend playing rugby so no SWI'ing for us this weekend. (someone please enlighten me as to what this stands for. I know what it is but not actually what the letters stand for if you know what I mean). I'm no good at acronyms! Plus he's away pretty much all of next week which I think will be when I'm most fertile so looks like I could be off the bus before I've got more than a foot on it!

But that aside I'm just trying to remain positive and enjoy the christmas festivites. I haven't even got my tree up yet so must get on the case this week. No snow here. I do love snow too Xmas Smile

OptiMumPrime · 05/12/2011 19:47

Ooh, snow, I am envious. Not a peep of snow here. I love snow!

Am in my prime week for TTCing this week, so fingers and toes (but not legs! Xmas Wink) crossed!

jencd · 05/12/2011 18:09

Haha! No hard feelings... hope this time my ticket lasts to the next stop! :)

dameflamingo · 05/12/2011 16:53

jencd I have an awful feeling that it was I who threw (goingtobe) momma from the train a few updates ago. It really wasn't purposeful if it was me!

penguinpenguin · 05/12/2011 16:34

It's snowing here, it's so christmassy and lovely :) Lots of fairylights out!

Dear Spellcheck... I really understand what you are going through, I found out I'd had a MMC at 22 weeks a couple of years ago. Right now the pain must be unbearable for you. You have to feel it and don't try to quickly fix it. It's a long term, heartbreaking time in your life and all of your questions are completely normal. I went to counselling about 6 months after I lost my little boy (Noah) and it took me a good year to finally be able to cope with the loss.

Now, two years on me and my DH are TTC and every month that goes by that we don't I think it must be something to do with the reason why Noah died, even though the doctors all assure me everything is normal.

Which brings me to another point... who pushed me off the train?

Whee I'll add myself to the list too! AF arrived today - and I'm excited because this means I'm now officially in my first cycle of TTC! Just did a cringeworthy little dance in the loo at work when I discovered she had arrived! This past cycle was second off the pill so pleased it's gotten a bit shorter too - from 35 days down to 31. Errr guess that means next AF is due 5 Jan?

Hi everyone, can i join you?
I stopped taking the pill about 2 months ago, but havent been actively trying, just kind of seeing what happens! I don't want it to take over my life!

AF came yesterday, the 4th, my cycle seems to be 32 days, so am due on again on 4th Jan.

I am 32 and already have 2 dc's aged 11 and 7, I had a MC about 4 yrs ago, and it was awful, so put us off trying again, but we now feel there is room another little one in our lives! Am I mad?!!

Chuckaluck · 04/12/2011 20:04

Wow dameflamingo, that sounds great! Was only thinking about black forest gateau today! When not hoping for BFP am thinking about food!

dameflamingo · 04/12/2011 17:27

Polar expressers...Chrimbo top tip for y'all - alcohol free, contains chocolate so aphrodisiac and guaranteed to warm up after a nice long healthy walk.

Home made Black Forest Hot Chocolate

Green and Blacks hot chocolate made with milk ( ignore the diet here ladies full fat milk is best)
squirty cream
grated chocolate sprinkles
cherry syrup (you can buy from polish shop or world food aisle of tesco for £1)

make up hot choc squirt cream on top drizzle with cherry syrup and sprinkle liberally with grated choc.... yum yum yum.

Day 45 and still no AF or blue line but super laid back and looking forward to trying on cycle 9. Hope all is well.

Spellcheck · 04/12/2011 16:51

Thanks ladies for the kind welcomes! Nice to 'meet' you all! Xmas Smile

Yes, a hideous ordeal that I hope I never have to go through again, wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. And of course if I get pg again I will be frantically knicker-checking and obsessing throughout. Good luck to all of you with BFPs so far!

newmrsc Definitely thinking about counselling, thought I'd be fine because I'm normally fairly practical but this has turned me into a nutcase! It really helps to talk about it.

vino - great being able to dtd frequently, fancy DP like mad, but hope I can still manage to look alluring after five nights on the trot (taking no chances)!

VeniVidiVino · 04/12/2011 15:19

Congratulations gnomi this is shaping up to be a very lucky bus indeed!

spellcheck I am so sorry for your loss and wish you and lovely DP every possible bit of luck and as many DCs as you want - it is nobody else's business and not greedy to want a family with him at all.

On a personal note, AF finished yesterday and SWI began with gusto today, excellent stuff Xmas Wink

TheNewMrsC · 03/12/2011 20:14

Welcome all the newbies :)

spellcheck I'm am so very sorry for your ordeal I cannot begin to imagine how I would feel if I were in your shoes !!

I think you are overthinking things and tbh that is completely understandable considering all you have been through . Firstly I would like to say don't let anyone make you feel you are too old or being too greedy . It is your choice how many dcs you decide to have and tbh it's no one elses business . And long as you can love and support them then that is all that matter . Secondly , 38 is not old !! I have a few people in my family who have had dcs in their 40s and had happy healthy pgs and dcs !!! I think you just need to take a wee step back ad clear your head a bit by the looks of that post your head is buzzing with a million thoughts !!

Have you considered maybe going to a few counselling sessions ? It may do you some good to just have someone to talk to - sometimes strangers are the easiest to talk to ! Smile

OptiMumPrime · 03/12/2011 16:25

Spellcheck, a warm welcome to you. You can be on the bus with your OAP bus pass! Only joking - I'll be 38 in a few short months, and I definitely don't feel too old.
My deepest sympathies for the loss of your beautiful boy Beau. I don't know how you ever recover from something like that. (hugs)
Not being greedy either - I'd love to have four (or more!), have one so far, so triplets this time would be great! Anyway. Welcome aboard, and good luck.

Welcome AFox and penguinpenguin.

Spellcheck · 03/12/2011 10:18

Ladies, may I join you?

I'm an old timer (38) with 3 dc from previous marriage, currently deeply in love with fab DP of 3 years. Had mc at 9 weeks last December, and had hideous late mc on 25th Oct this year at nearly 19 weeks. Had pains for days, fobbed off by docs, one evening I stood up and out he came...alive...died in our arms. We called him Beau and buried him on Thursday. No explanation yet as to why it happened.

So we are trying again, had first AF since mc on 24th Nov, so dtd as often as possible this week, no hardship at the moment but hope it doesn't become another household chore in manner of hoovering or washing up.

I just want to ask...

Am I being greedy? I have 3 dc already, as pointed out succinctly by hospital doc. But DP doesn't, so fair enough to try for another, right? I wasn't sure at first though DP very keen, but since 1st mc and now mc 2 it's been a bit more of a pressing need for me too.

38 is pretty old (though I don't look it! Honest!) to be TTC and I feel a bit embarrassed about it in front of DP because he's a young whippersnapper by comparison (29). I want to be able to give him a child or two before it's too late - am I being naive? Am I just too old?

I have a pretty regular 28 day-ish cycle and fell reasonably quickly with all my pgs (2nd month every time) but worry that we might 'try too hard'. Heard this saying a lot over the years and never thought it might apply to me - ladies what are your thoughts on this? Is it just one of those things my older relatives said to my cousin to make her feel better after 10 years of trying?! She adopted in the end and fell pg straight away...

I sound like a bloody naive teenager I know but I can't help it..! I can hear this giant clock in my head 'tick-tock'-ing as the months go by and I get older and older and less likely to conceive. Baaaahhhh!!!!!!!!

Advice, hand holding etc gratefully received, and returned, as we embark on this precarious journey together. Good luck to all of you, may we all have bfp by January! Xmas Smile

Minshu · 03/12/2011 00:12
