Ahh, brownie, that's amazing Smile.

free, Louise told me NLC was closed until 3 Jan. I can't remember what day they close. I didn't write it down as it didn't affect any of my tests. I thought she said 20th or 22nd (can't quite remember). Maybe that's for new patients, I don't know. Perhaps the have a small clinic running scans for those who are pregnant as it would be a bit of a nightmare if you couldn't get in for scans when you need them.

Louise also said it may be ok for me to have my scans at St Helier but said something to the effect of that mantra that I've come to know so well...."first catch your rabbit!".

OK, hysteria over! I've spoken to NLC and there is a day that overlaps both cycle options - ie. if I have a 24 or 28 day cycle which is the day they re-open. If it turns out to be D11 then Mr S has said I must take precautions and not TTC that month, but that's fine a I can then have a month off pred and it's better than waiting 'til feb/march for all my results. Phew! If I'm lucky, my period will come later and I can carry on as normal. If I'm even luckier I will get a BPF and save myself a lot of money!

Arianrhod · 13/12/2011 11:58

Brilliant news from you too brownie ... you guys so give the rest of us hope!

BrownieGecko · 13/12/2011 11:55

That is fantastic Free I burst into tears on train when I read your post. I know there is a way to go but that is great and a strong ickle heartbeat too! X

Good luck Cheerful thinking of you and wil lurk for update.

We had our 15wk scan this morning and although I had persuaded myself all was wrong, it was amazing. We absolutely never thought this possible a year ago, but now we have hope. This treatment is the dogs doofers is all I can say. Am in London for rest of day as have appointment with St Mary's at 17:30. Finally going to start telling family and friends now.

Am on iPhone so will post properly this evening. Waves to everyone, you gus have been our rock so thank you!! X

freelancegirl · 13/12/2011 11:43

Kittens, what a nightmare! Is there anywhere else you can see him? Christmas really means sod all to me this year so its surprise to remember things will be closing and people will be going away. What dates are the clinic closed incidentally?

I've just booked a scan for 9am on fri 23rd December at nlc. Another very long ten days of mentalling, knicker scrutinising, symptom / non symptom alert.

Looks like am outta here in a bit, drip running down. Will lurk for news from other scan-ees.

free fantastic news 8 weeks wow so excited for you!

good luck cheerful today will look out for news,.x

Yes comedy hope all is well with you, let us know how you got on x

kittens can it get any more stressful?? nightmare, your Mum sounds like she's in the best place though. Can't believe the situation your in... Can you not get the scan anywhere else, sorry I don't know what it is. Or does Dr S have to do it?

buster when I mentioned Intralipids and Healthcare at Home he said they don't use them any more as they had problems with them?? Which is a shame as it's much more convenient and that would have to go to Epsom.

Arianrhod · 13/12/2011 11:33

kittens I understood Mr S to work out of the Epsom and St Helier NHS hospitals as well, could you not ask Louise if it's possible to have your scan at one of those considering what you're having to juggle right now? Just a thought ..

eurochick · 13/12/2011 11:24

I'm another needles lady. I've been going since April/May time. It has definitely improved my cycles.

Havingkittens · 13/12/2011 11:23

free you crazy woman! They told you the heart rate was very good at the scan didn't they? Surely their word is the final word over all of us Dr Google addicts?

Bloody hell, I've just spoken to Louise and found out when my 'window' is to have my HyFoSy scan. This is all a bloody nightmare! The first window is whilst NLC are closed for Christmas. The second window is when I planned my next trip to France. If I were to have all the tests done when they need to be done I wouldn't have time to go to France at all which is not an option so it's looking like by the time I can get all the tests done it will be Feb/March before I even get back to Mr S, when I will be on the last month of Pred before I have to take a break again. Aaaaargh!

ChoccyPud · 13/12/2011 11:15

Yay free!!! Delighted.

More later got a pile of work to do :(

Arianrhod · 13/12/2011 11:00

Right, finally out of the garage and back at a computer! I pffted at the garage, their conclusion inevitably meant £££ for them, so I told them to forget it. Saving all my pennies for next pregnancy treatment (see the subtle positivity there?). Hoping to follow in free's footsteps and actually get somewhere with the next pregnancy.

cheerful huge positive vibes for your scan this afternoon, hope everything goes wonderfully and you end up intralipided as well today. Not that I would wish a drip into their arm on anyone, but you know what I mean! Let us know how you get on, when you can?

iggi and choccy ... how are you both doing today?

buster interesting you are also on acupuncture? I wonder how many of us on the thread are, now? Me, for one, but who else?

freelancegirl · 13/12/2011 10:52

I am sure I have looked up heart rates among my many dr google sessions and yes was pleased it was a good rate. Any knowledge, thoughts, research, experience, totally unfounded opinions all welcome though. I need as much PMA as possible!

Forgot to officially welcome euro to the natural killer fold! The diagnosis is great as you now have a reason and a potential cure. If you and PQ fancy a south east London coffee do shout! We can fill you in on all we know

Great news free! 7.6 is def fine. Don't forget, in reality the baby grows from ovulation not from LMP (obviously!)

Didn't comedy have a scan yesterday? I've looked back and can't see a post from her. I hope all's well.

A busy week again for scans and appointments. Best of luck to cheerful today and coconut for tomorrow. And to those with appointments (so sorry, now I've got 3 pages past that bit and can't remember who they were!).

buster, just reading back your post about Mr S refusing to let you have scans locally - funny as when I saw him on NHS he said I could have mine locally as long as the information was passed on. Annoyingly, as I am now seeing him privately for fertility investigations I suspect he will also say the same to me which effectively means I will have wasted the best part of this year just to save a few hundred pounds for the early appointments as it will end up costing me the same for scans etc. as if I'd been seeing him privately all along. I'm hoping that as I am 'in the system' for his NHS treatment he will still let me have my scans locally. Like you, they know me pretty well at my local hospital. I get scanned in the FMU rather than EPU due to my history of chromosomaly abnormal pregnancies so they are slightly more sensitive there than in the EPU.

PQ yes, that's where the infection is, in the portacath. It's the second one she's had in there. They tried to treat the last one with antibiotics but after a 10 day course they ended up having to remove it and put a new one in the other side. Mind you, that infection took a while to pinpoint so, like you say, finding it so quickly might be her saving grace. Her being in France is a double edged sword. It's really hard on me not being able to just pop in and see her regularly but the hospital that she is in has one of the best oncology departments in the country and France is known for having very good cancer care so they are pretty efficient.

So, I've updated the list, moving myself to 'waiting to test'. I think holding off testing will be easier for me this month. Partly because I am feeling despondent and not really expecting a BPF and partly because my step dad has ordered me a seafood platter for Christmas day (apparently that's standard fare in France for Christmas - especially as I don't eat meat) so I don't want to get a BFP and not be able to eat my lunch. Under any other circumstances I would've suggested getting a back up option but they are under enough stress at the moment, it's hard enough trying to get a present wish list out of my step dad at the moment. My AF is due any time between 23-27 Dec depending on whether my cycle decides it wants to be 25 days or 28.

Buster in terms of Harley St or Epsom for intralipids am pretty sure it's just Epsom, where I report live from as we speak. It is an arse for me to get to from south east London, let alone the north east. But yes, when you need it do combine it with a meet up! I know Iggi has actually been coming down from Scotland.

Ari, sorry about the car, last thing you need!

Am sitting here eyeing bubbles in my tube with trepidation. Hope they gp before they reach my arm...

That's really good news, Free

freelancegirl · 13/12/2011 10:17

Thanks everyone. I dont feel particularly excited or happy yet, I guess as I am still aware it could all go wrong still. Part of me now feels that next one is bound to go wrong. It just seems that having a baby is something that happens to other people! I keep having to tell myself that people have babies all the time - why not me?

Cheerful I can fully relate to what you're going through right now! I have everything crossed that the scan goes well later. It's all so terrifying isn't it!! I know what you mean about symptoms too, I woke up this morning feeling distinctly unpregnant. I guess even though we are pregnant we can't be expected to have symptoms every single minute of the day can we? I just don't know.

Lurking too for news of battery who I think is at St mary's this morning?

digitalgirl · 13/12/2011 10:15

free yay yay yay!!!!!

Good luck cheerful am rooting for you too.

Buster76 · 13/12/2011 10:04

When I asked Mr.S about having lipids at home, someone I know had then at home (she saw Mr G on Harley St), he pretty much point blankly said no. I asked him about having scans at my local hospital too - they know me quite well now!
He said no to that too, saying it was him who was prescribing so his registration on the line if anything were to go wrong. Can see his point, going to be a nightmare travelling though, hey ho!!
Good Luck with the scan cheerful.
xx

cherrycheeks · 13/12/2011 09:56

Good luck with scan today cheerful sending lots of positive thoughts your way Xx

Really must try and actually get on a train now.

Hooray! Fantastic news! Been lurking at the train station waiting for your post - keep bumping into grumpy commuters as glued to my phone! Xx

Cheerfulcharlie · 13/12/2011 09:43

OMG Free brilliant news! Don't be daft - of course it's alright that it's just ONE day different from 8! It's not that accurate but also remember you have been scanned very early in the morning so fetus hasn't even had his full day of growing yet - give it a chance! Have an intralipidtastic morning!

Cheerfulcharlie · 13/12/2011 09:39

Hi Ladies

Free thinking of you and your scan this morning. Hope it's all gone well and you are sitting there with that drip in your arm right now.

I have a scan this afternoon, depending on the results I will then go for intralipids straight after. I am so nervous, the build up to these scans is just so stressful and I hardly slept last night again. Everything was fine until Sunday when I have noticed a definite marked decrease in all my symptoms. I even have loads of energy. Can't even blame the pred for messing with my symptoms, because I don;t take it. Anyway, I'll report back later.

iggi how are you getting on?

Ari - i feel your pain with the car. My car is also in the garage racking up a huge bill in the garage and DH's just needed all tyre replacing. There goes the TV we were going to treat ourselves to for Christmas.

I am really jealous of this meet up. I used to live in Waterloo and would love to go round there for lunch !

Very reassuring to hear we have some nurses in the house!

Buster - welcome! I'm not sure about this but I thought you could get intralipids done at home through a scheme called somethign like NHS at Home or something like that? I have read about it on these sorts of forums but don't know the details. Might save a long and expensive trip to London? Maybe one of the others knows more about it.

Arianrhod · 13/12/2011 09:33

Woohoo!!!! Excellently fabulous news free, that's so good to hear! Yes it's absolutely fine that it's 1 day "out" .. babies develop at different rates at different times throughout your pregnancy, one day is nothing.

So so very pleased, lots and lots of positive thoughts heading your way!!!
