free You only need to take them to prevent the pred giving you bloating/heartburn etc. Not for any other reason as far as I'm aware.

freelancegirl · 24/11/2011 23:09

Kittens LMAO at your lodger nicking the bike off a hoodie mugger! Grin that's hilarious! But, yes, still very shocking for the poor thing. Wonder what the hoodie will be telling his mates. It is indeed the shock and feeling of violation that is upsetting.

Also finding it mildly amusing that you are nicking meds off your granny. But good that you have a back-up plan in place. The illness might quacktastically be the NK cell killer you need :) It's still a big pain you couldn't go see your mum when you wanted to though.

On my own at Nan's again and getting a bit Dr Google obsessed without anyone like DH or other people to exert some parental controls. Still getting mild cramps occasionally. All very weird.

Oh, I forgot to mention I haven't been taking the Omeprazole. I just didn't fancy taking something else and my stomach is actually ok this time. I am now paranoid that I have done something wrong. Is anyone else not taking these unless they need it?

OP posts:
Havingkittens · 24/11/2011 22:45

Thanks everyone for all your get well wishes.

free I suspect my illness is brought on by the steroids suppressing my immune system as I so rarely get ill and have only just started taking them again. I don't know whether the illness will suppress them further or not. I can't begin to imagine! Not sure when I will plan my trip yet. My mum has told me to make sure I feel well first and then plan it. I reckon I will probably go on Monday but we'll have to see.

Annoyingly I waited until about 7pm and didn't hear from my GP so left my mobile in my room and went next door to my granny's (who lives in the granny annex) and had a missed call at 7.30 from him! Typical. He left a message but assumed I was calling to chase up my referral to the fertility clinic, which he did last Thursday so that's one good thing. But he didn't get the message about the prescription and I mightn't be able to get hold of him in time. BUT I have a back up plan now. I have a prescription for the 25mg for 4 months worth and I have acquired 2.5mg preds from my granny's unused "weaning off" stash so if needs be I can take one and a half of the 25mg and a 2.5mg to make 40mg. Phew!

Digi sorry to read of your experience. I think it's the feeling of being violated that leaves you shocked. Someone tried to grab my phone off me on the tube once as they were getting off. They didn't even get it and I still cried. Did I mention about my lodger a few weeks ago? I can't remember. Anyway she came home saying some hoodie on a bicycle grabbed her phone off her. Unfortunately he managed to get away with it but before he did so she wrestled him to the ground and stole his bike Grin. Once the adrenalin had worn off she cried too.

coconut sorry you're full of cold too. That's also pretty miserable. Keep cosy.

freelancegirl · 24/11/2011 21:03

Cold coconut! Another one who is ill. Good news Grin IYKWIM

I logged on to see what the news was Ari. Been wondering about you all day ? I?m so pleased for you. Of course you won?t be able to relax completely (who of us can?) but I really hope you?re able to breathe a small sigh of relief. Don?t apologise for being pessimistic. We all understand how hard these things are.

Digi ? I realised that I forgot to say great news about your scan too. What happened today was horrible though. Those kinds of things are always really unsettling aren?t they.

Get well soon Kittens.

Full of cold today. Dp out tonight and I?m enjoying having the place to myself now ds is asleep. Just off to watch the second half of The Killing.

Hope everyone else is OK!

freelancegirl · 24/11/2011 20:49

Been lurking from the hospital all day and shocked to hear of Digi's pick pocketing situation! How awful. I think it's the shock with that sort of thing isn't it. Kind of like falling over. Although some nasty little oik has bestowed it on you. I remember I had my phone stolen by two street children in a cafe in Victoria Station once and although I was completely unharmed I cried afterwards from the shock. Glad you were able to get it out your system to the work friends after. Loving the crime flighting uncle battery!

Ari that is great about the HCG levels! I know you will still mental about things as we all do but please do stop POAS now. No good can come of it! I've only done one and it was really, really faint but am going to wait until the scan. I did thing about getting a follow up HCG but I don't think I can be bothered to put myself through it now.

Your Christmas last year sounds awful Ari. I know it sounds terrible but along the same theme of wanting to know as soon as possible, am also thinking I am going to lose it it would be good to get it out of the way before Christmas so at least we can drown our sorrows! Pessimism, realism...? I just don't know. On a post-mc thread I still chat with friends on three of us got a BFP in the same day and then others followed and I was the only one that had a second mc (although there was later one chemical). I can't help but thinking that might be a pattern repeated. I know we are probably all going over the same thoughts though.

Scooter good luck for the scan tomorrow. Just scrolling back through the list and thinking you might be around 8-9 weeks? Does that mean another intralipids for you potentially too?

Interesting about the haematomas Cheerful. Will def keep an eye on that. What makes you think you might have one this time around too?

Kittens - my gosh what a nightmare! You must have been really ill. Has part of you (this is the way my mind is working at the moment) thought I wonder if being ill will actually be a good thing as it might have suppressed some NKC...? Didn't someone say they on here (or maybe BC) that they thought a successful pregnancy might have been because they were ill...? But that is a real pain for you not being able to go to france and see your mum as planned. Remember if you're ever desperate for meds we can probably all muster some up here to send, so don't worry about that.

Nan not doing too badly at all considering. Fingers crossed she might come home tomorrow.

scooterchaser · 24/11/2011 19:53

Digi how awful for you, sending a hot, sweet (possibly even fully caffeinated tea) for shock. Glad they have got the CCTV and can round them up and sort them out, it's just so brazen isn't it, unbelievable. Relieved to hear you are ok and it's in the hands of the police now.

My scan is at 1.15pm tomorrow. Slightly anxious about my decision to go alone but think I am more likely to hold it together whatever the outcome that way. Stupid of me? Probably!

ari brilliant news on the HCG, as everyone says it won't stop the rollercoaster but at least for now, today you have a little bit of relief and a positive sign, so grab it with both hands. Really pleased for you.

kittens poor you, what rubbish timing! Are you starting to feel on the mend now? Hope you can get your trip rebooked without too much hassle and that blasted wayward prescription turns up for you!

Echo everyones feelings about actual babies in our lives. It has occurred to me that I pin my happiness on it a little too completely. But at least it won't be limbo, and that's all I feel at the minute til a pregnancy works out. I am fairly confident that I'll just be SO unbelievably grateful if it happens I will be ready to roll with all the new challenges, but also think I'm such early weeks I just don't dare to be daunted by that prospect yet.

Obviously the sorting/decluttering season as I have just spent the morning doing the family filing! At the other end of the 'interesting life' spectrum, DH woke up this morning to see hippos and giraffes. Wishing I could transport myself out there just for a day, little mini safari and a break from all the appointments seems so appealing!

Arianrhod · 24/11/2011 19:40

Thanks ladies, all of you, for your good wishes and support, it really means a lot I'm sorry I've sounded so pessimistic but things really didn't look good there for a while. I appreciate it's a very long way to go but I promise to stop panicking now, until the scan anyway :)

kittens so sorry to hear you've been ill and you're having problems with your prescription too. Never fear you're being a nuisance with ringing them - they're supposed to be there to help, remember, that's their sole reason for existence! Well, job-wise anyway.

cheerful how would you know if you have a haematoma, do you get spotting or something? Has anyone suggested what caused your last one?

choccy how are you doing now?

free how is your Nan? Is the clot breaking down, do they know? I don't know how you track these things.

Cheerfulcharlie · 24/11/2011 18:55

Ari - brilliant news. I have been having my fingers crossed all day

Choccy - glad to hear it's easing off.

Perhaps we can chill out until the mentalling starts for the first scan!

Duggs - apart from a spell of going almost a year without AF aboiut 3 years ago I have always got AF too and seemed to ovulate but my cycles were too long - about 46 days. As soon as I went on the meformin they went down to 39 days, which was still too long to be healthy apparently. Then with acupuncture they have now for the last few months have got down to around 32 days. Are your cycles long at the mo? I bet after a couple of months on the metforminn as long as you try and eat only low GI foods (this bit is very important), you will be pleased with some weight loss without trying too hard.

I am interested in how many of you mention you've had hematomas in previous pregnancies. Dr Beer reckons this is related to NK cells. I had one in my first pregnancy too. I am slightly suspicious I have one this time too.

duggs1976 · 24/11/2011 18:18

ari amazing news ! Exactly what you were hoping for and 21 other sighs of relief. . Because we care and because we want positive stories !!

Thank you for all your info on metformin! I must have a mild version as always get AF .. BMI crept up to 27 /28 and fed of of struggling with it. Dr S has doubled my letrozole.

Anyway - looking forward to seeing a couple on sat and do pm me if u haven't already about 6 dec will send venue out next week when spoken to free (hopefully free and all be ok ) Grin

ColeyOz · 24/11/2011 17:42

Congratulations Ari! Such great news- now just try and stay positive for the next scan. Fingers crossed for you.:)

Havingkittens · 24/11/2011 16:49

Hello there. I've also been MIA and unable to catch up on all posts for a few days. Great to hear your levels are going up at a more promising rate ari, what a stressful few days you've had!

Contrary to my plans, I am not in France. I am laid up at my auntie's with a bug which crept up on me during the early hours of the morning I was due to fly. I got as far as the off site car park at Gatwick, ran into the loo to throw up, drove back to my auntie's and went to bed. Stopping en route to throw up out of my car window on the hard shoulder Sad. So, just trying to feel better to re-book my trip which annoyingly means loosing all the money for the original trip and probably canceling some work. On top of that, I have just called my GP surgery to ask if my prescription is ready in case I need the 40mg pre whilst I'm away as the delayed trip will mean I have to test whilst away, and no, it isn't.... despite all my phone calls and visits last week. Sigh.... Now waiting for a call from my GP. For all I know I won't need them for months yet but trying to make sure I have them in time for "just in case" makes me feel like a right bloody high maintenance patient and all these calls I have to make makes me feel like a nuisance.

Sorry to flake out on the rest of the personals. I've been feeling so ill and spaced out I've not had the mental capacity to take in all that's been going on. And boy, have you lot been active over the past few days!

Free I really do hope all is well with your nan and you get her home and comfortable soon.

ChoccyPud · 24/11/2011 16:32

Yay Ari that's wonderful news! Grin Grin Grin

Will you rest a bit easier now?! Do try at least, all the worrying clearly isn't stopping things happening as your numbers show, but now you know you can calm down a bit.

I'm delighted for you x

batteryhen · 24/11/2011 16:12

Hello! Sorry I have been MIA - Internet has been off since monday - nightmare.

Firstly hooray for ari - doubling numers are very god - so you can breathe out now!
digi hooray for a good scan, and boo to thieving little bastards. My Uncle caught someone (a girl) with her hand in his jacket in cafe in London. He chased her down the street - he was 70 at the time. The police said he should have tackled her down and held her down till they arrived!

I won't post masses as I have to read all through the posts as I have missed so much. Ov weekend coming up for me so time to get the sexy undies out :)

snoopygirl · 24/11/2011 16:03

brilliant news ari. Phew.... breathe........

Arianrhod · 24/11/2011 15:55

And thanks euro, you're absolutely right!!

Arianrhod · 24/11/2011 15:55

Thanks digi ... I actually feel like I haven't breathed since getting the first lot of results on Monday. I can actually breathe again now!!! Still in shock.

eurochick · 24/11/2011 15:54

:) Ari, that's good news. I bet you have been holding your breath waiting for that. Take a big deep inhale now!

Digi, that's awful. I hope the CCTV footage is useful.

digitalgirl · 24/11/2011 15:54

ari that's fantastic news!!! Please allow yourself to breath a sigh of relief and be happy for now. You can carry on mentalling tomorrow!

Arianrhod · 24/11/2011 15:47

OMG I just got the call back, and my level at yest morning was 252. That's just a little more than doubled since Monday's level of 112. I'm in shock, I felt sure it wouldn't have risen enough. I know it's no guarantees of anything, I know it's still very early days, and I know the level is still quite low, but it did at least double and it's way, way better news than I was expecting! I know I could get shot down in flames come the scan on the 7th, but at least for now something has given my hCG a bit of a kick up the backside.

I'm in shock, and very afraid to hope ...

Stogan · 24/11/2011 15:24

Digi that's awful, long as ur ok tho that's the main thing x

Everything crossed for you Ari xxx

ChoccyPud · 24/11/2011 15:06

Whatever the news you're sure to feel better just for knowing... As you say, at least you will know a bit better where you are. Keep us posted. Hugs

Arianrhod · 24/11/2011 15:02

No - waiting for the call back from the surgery. I did at least get a really sympathetic receptionist this time, so I do at least feel confident she is actually trying to get me my result this time! Biting my nails like you wouldn't believe here .. expecting the worst, but still terrified :(

ChoccyPud · 24/11/2011 15:01

Ari any news yet??

ChoccyPud · 24/11/2011 15:00

That's really shitty digi glad you're feeling ok though and good to know they didn't nick anything. Worthless little buggers.
