scooterchaser · 25/11/2011 16:10

Hi, just home from the scan. Saw a heartbeat and although it's a little bit small for dates, it has grown since the 6 week scan. As good as I could have hoped so really relieved.

I can't believe I am being actively encouraged to book in for a 12 week scan now and it may be before Christmas if I'm lucky. Still got the 10 week and a consultation with Mr S before then though.

I'll just update with my next scan date.
Thanks so much for all the well wishes and support today x

Arianrhod · 25/11/2011 16:01

scooter any news for us yet??

ChoccyPud · 25/11/2011 13:38

Ok something new for me to worry about.. I'd always read that hair dye/ highlights are ok when you're pg and the chemicals don't affect anything. Now you've made me think again. I'm having a semi permanent plus highlights tmrw so kinda need to know! Dr Google here I come...

Arianrhod · 25/11/2011 13:21

oh, and my OV was delayed this cycle from day 14 to day 17, which is unlike me, so again I'm suspecting the pred I took the previous cycle. Again, may not relate to you at all, but just in case ...

Arianrhod · 25/11/2011 13:20

sue quick question - are you checking for OV with an OPK as well? I found this cycle my CBFM didn't give me a peak, yet I did get my smilie face on my CB OPK. Reading around it looks like the pred can mess with the hormones that the CBFM picks up. That might not be your case, but just wondered if you're double-checking, as the CBFM might miss your OV?

suemays · 25/11/2011 13:13

I am now on day 14 and still no ovulation, only 5 lots of high on my CBFM. Fed up with waiting and think I will be out this month seeing as DH goes away on Monday. This happened 2 months ago so I feel like giving up TTC as he is always away at the right time! So frustrating as I wish my egg would bloody hatch!!!
I have a really heavy cold so wondering if that has delayed my OV.

Comedy and Duggs I have sent you messages saying that I can't make tomorrow at the pub due to feeling like shite! Hopefully we can re-arrange again soon?

iggi999 · 25/11/2011 12:54

Good luck for today Scooter.
I have just found a whole new way to freak myself out - amazon have just delivered a doppler to me. Can't use it till I get ds to his football class in about half an hour..

Arianrhod · 25/11/2011 12:30

cheerful why not use an organic hair colour - they're safe for use while pregnant? ok means you might have to change your colour all over, rather than highlights, but it would solve the problem of the roots for a while! I used henna when I was pg with DD, mixed with saffron so I got more of a gold colour rather than very red, and it worked well. But loads of salons have organic colours, you just have to ask (not sure about where you are, but worth asking?). Just a thought!

Cheerfulcharlie · 25/11/2011 12:19

kittens - I love the bike story! I also have a stash of pred which I bought and then decided not to use, if anyone needs it I'm happy to post but as I'm overseas give me plenty of notice. I presume it would get through customs ok?

Also top tip- if anyone is coming to the Middle East on holiday, you can walk into any Chemist and buy almost any medication without a prescription. It's totally legal.

I have also dreamt of our cocoon house! I also almost every night dream of bleeding but not yet dreamed about having a baby.

coconut I also despise Foxtons with a passion. They are bulkshitters, however i would sell through them, they do tend to be able to get a good rice sometimes (probably because they're bullshitting the purchasers). I also got a 0% deal with them when they first moved to my area a few years ago, which was great, however the market was good then. I personally would take the 0% thing as long as you can opt out before the 2.5% kicks in. That is such ahigh rate. If they haven't sold it in a couple of months it would be good to get a fresh agent anyway.

I had to cancel my highlights this weekend as I'm to scared to have them done in the 1st trimester. I had to book for the end of Jan- god knows what I will look like by then. DH suggested squeezing a lemon on my roots, I laughed but then thought, hmmmm.... Is that a bad idea?? ( is it???)

free choccy ari - no still not getting many symptoms either other than boobs are getting sorer and I am bloated. Of course that could just be the cyclogest. My acupuncturist said I had a very pregnant pulse the other day, so I was comforted by that. The days are just dragging and dragging though, like you guys I am ticking off each day impatiently.

scooter your scan is in an hour! Good luck girl!

hopeful glad you have a diagnosis. I have to admit I am jealous of your break over Xmas. I hope you take advantage and have plenty of mulled wine and champagne.

Re the hematoma- I don't really know why I think I have one this time. I think because I had one before and have it in my head I'm at risk of them. It only became apparent last time about 8 weeks so I have a few more weeks before I can worry about that.

Coconutfeet · 25/11/2011 12:03

I second Ari about feeling pregnant and it still not working out. I had hideous morning sickness with my last pregnancy before this one and it turned out to be an empty sac. In fact I may have felt marginally better this time around and it certainly didn't kick in for me properly until after 6 weeks, so don't underestimate the effect of the drugs, ladies.

snoopygirl · 25/11/2011 11:57

Tell me about the waiting..aarggghh. Still no sodding line this morning 13dpo today.
Keeping in mind though that a few of you said got faint one at 14dpo.
But....I am having to eat to not feel sick....so does the pred make you feel that sick??

Welcome hopeful sorry if I have said that already, going gaga here and lost the ability to string two words together. Hope you find this thread a comfort/help. x

DS had a playdate yes afternoon, the boy is toughnut and very confident. DS and him were wrestling on carpet and DS knocked the other boys first tooth out!! He just happened to catch him in the mouth by mistake, how embarrassing. Thank god the tooth was slightly wobbly anyway. Then he kept saying my DS punched him in the mouth!! Thank god his mum was ok in playground this morning. Wonder if we'll see him again!

Hope all the rest of you are ok -lovely sunny day here today. x

Arianrhod · 25/11/2011 11:56

Well I was wondering about that too free (Mr S wanting to see us at 10 weeks, I mean) but working on what Louise has said, he's seeing me at 7 weeks and hopefully then 9 weeks, so I think either I'm out of sync with the 'norm' or ... well, I dunno, maybe I'm just out. Presumably as you're seeing him at 6+4 you'll be seeing him again at 8+something, and so need to see him at 10+something too. Louise did say if Mr S couldn't do a scan for me then she certainly could, so maybe that's an option - see Louise on the 27th (if possible)? Might be worth texting her and asking if the 27th can be an option, then you could go ahead and book your well-deserved break away - gives you something else other than pregnancy stuff to look forward to! I'm still trying to figure out what to do for my DP's 50th birthday at the start of Feb, I'd like to book us a week away somewhere warm and sunny but a little voice whispers in my ear saying if this pregnancy works out then I'm going to need the money I'd spend on that holiday for maternity leave. But the other, more sensible voice says, don't be daft, the chances of this working out are very slim indeed, and you need a break! :)

Problem with the feeling pregnant thing is you can feel very pregnant indeed and it all go wrong still. I'm choosing to believe the pred is masking most of it, I'm not feeling anything like I did with the last three pregnancies, and I'm just ignoring it all, for now. I've fretted enough already over this particular pregnancy, I'm going to choose to think it's the pred doing its stuff, and wait ...

coconut I used to work in an estate agents, many many years ago (first job) and trust me, they are just all like that. I think it's inbred.

scooterchaser · 25/11/2011 11:44

Hi free yes my scan is today at 1.15pm. Also you asked about intralipids, I did have my second batch this wednesday at home, I was 8+3.

Agree this time drags so unbelievably, it's just having to take one day at a time, cross it off and not allowing ourselves to look into the future. I know that dreaming of baby days is the thing that gets most people through early pregnancy, just feel so sad that we have to protect ourselves from those thoughts. Really hate having to keep so neutral about it all.

freelancegirl · 25/11/2011 11:35

It is a really good idea Hopeful. I really enjoyed my break between this one and the last one. Mr S told me to wait two months to give my body a break from the high dose Pred after the ERPC. I was half hoping the SWI wouldn?t work the first month too, to give me another break, but I realise you?ve gotta be in it to win it as it were! But a break over Christmas will be fab- eat, drink and be merry. Pretty sure you are our youngest member too! I have added you to the list. We need to add Seeker's details too.

I?ve updated the list and just moved everyone forward a day so I hope that?s ok. Is Brownie now 12 weeks? Scooter is your scan today?

Choccy glad you seem to have stopped spotting. I am with you on the feeling distinctly unpregnant. I really feel that this is going the same way as the last one now. It just feels inevitable. Sigh. Am trying to be positive but it would be nice to have the occasionally feeling that I am pregnant.

Hey Duggs ? vivid dreams at the start of the 2ww might be a sign!

Thanks for the dates re the clinic Ari. Yes presuming I have a successful scan on the 3rd at 6.4 then I would need an 8 week scan and (presuming that was successful) intralipids again on the 14th, 15th or 16th as well. He also wants to see us at 10 weeks doesn?t he? That would put me at the 27th. Wonder if he is opening that week at all. I intend to go away on the 28th. I bet he won?t open that week and will insist I don?t go away. DH is desperate for a holiday and would be sooooo upset as that is the only time he can go (has to take uni holidays).

Foxtons were a bit like that with us Coconut. I guess all estate agents are. Not much fun. I?ve been dealing with them for a year now on our flat!

Re the Omeprazole, looks like we have all been a bit slack with it? I took one last night before bed for the first time this time as I had started to feel a bit tense in the stomach. Might have to start taking it I guess.

Oh, why don?t I feel pregnant?! Why is time dragging?! And why is this all such a hard slog when people are popping out babies all the bloody time?!

scooterchaser · 25/11/2011 11:16

hopeful glad there's been an answer for you, having the treatment is reassuring and the statistics are in our favour, so you have more reason to feel 'hopeful' than ever :)

choccy glad to hear the spotting has eased, that's a great sign. Try not to focus too much on pregnancy symptoms. I was relatively symptom free even before a good 6wk scan, pred really can hide them. Getting a bit more nauseous these days but nothing to write home about still.

duggs also had some dreams about cocoon house, it's funny how you have sorted us into rooms even in your sleep, you are amazing, if there were medals for organising you would be unrivalled gold!

Having small panic about the omeprazole. I haven't taken ANY during this 6 weeks on pred so am I going to be in trouble with Mr S when I see him
in December? I just have never felt the need for it because I only get a tiny bit of heartburn about once a week. Aah don't want to do myself any lasting damage!! choccy what did Louise say exactly and coconut seem to remember you weren't taking it, did you talk to Mr S about it?

Coconutfeet · 25/11/2011 10:46

Kittens ? Have you got enough pred now? I?ve got some left over that I can send to you ASAP if you need any. Just pm me your address details if you do.

Hopeful ? It?s good that you?ve got a diagnosis and a plan now, even though it?s horrible to think there?s something wrong with you. When I was shopping around for the Clexane that I was prescribed (It?s around £5 a pop and you need to take it every day!) I found Tescos pharmacy to be cheaper than anyone else near here. I only compared about 5 or 6 places as I was in a rush to get hold of it so there could be cheaper options.

Free ? Oh dear I?ve just read what Choccy said about the omeprazole. I didn?t take it at all as the pred didn?t give me any problems on that front. Like Ari, I?ve never had heartburn and very rarely get stomach problems so I didn?t bother. I only got prescribed it at a later date and just forgot. So I was going to say don?t bother but maybe you should.

Scooter ? Good luck today!

Ari ? It feels so strange thinking ahead to all these scan dates when you?re not feeling so confident doesn?t it. I was convinced this pregnancy was onto a loser as I hadn?t even seen Mr S until I was 6 weeks pregnant so was really resistant to planning ahead. Fingers tightly crossed that all of you earlies do get to that stage.

Got two estate agents coming today to give us valuations. Foxtons have just arrived in our area and are doing a 0% deal for people who sell within a given time frame (which then goes up to 2.5% eek!). Trouble is I really didn't like the guy I spoke to on the phone - he seemed like such a bullshitter. Maybe I just have to accept that's the reality of dealing with estate agents. Sigh.

Arianrhod · 25/11/2011 10:18

hopeful that is a very good idea indeed. Give your body a rest, relax and enjoy the festivities knowing you have a plan, and use the time to get your body all vitamined-up. Definitely sounds like a great plan! And you're a mere spring chicken too :)

hopefulfor2nd · 25/11/2011 10:11

Sounds like everything is looking good for everybody today then! Lovely! Fab way to start the weekend.
I'm holding off ttc until new year. We had already decided to have Nov/dec off to settle my body down after 5 m/c in 10 months, Mr S agreed that was a good idea and that also gives me the recommended 8 weeks of vitamins. I'm actually enjoying the break in a way, I know my body needs it. Complete revelation to get my period this week, and to just deal with it knowing thats all it is.
I'm not rushing it as if I have another m/c I'd blame myself for not giving the 8 weeks of vits. Hubby is more then happy with that as well. As soon as NY hits I'll be back at it, SWI!!!
Have a great weekend all,
xxxxx
P.s Thanks for the tips on pharmacys
p.p.s FYI I'm 29! Saw everyone swapped ages previously!

Arianrhod · 25/11/2011 09:42

Morning ladies, hope everyone's doing great this morning!

hopeful good news that at least something has been found, and you can now feel that you can do something positive. I think that was the relief for me, that there is definitely something wrong (or several somethings), which can be hopefully addressed. Welcome to the Pred club! My GP couldn't help me with the prescription unfortunately, so after some shopping around I found Lloyds online much the cheapest (cheaper than my local Lloyds chemist) with a next-day turnaround.

free What choccy said ... we did indeed get the lecture from Louise. However, I confess, I'm still not taking it - I know, I know, I hear what Louise was saying and no doubt she's absolutely right, I have no reason to doubt her logic. But for me it's one medication too far, until and unless I need it. I've never had indigestion/heartburn in my life (until the first month of the pred) and while I obviously don't want my stomach lining messed around with, I'll hold off taking the omeprazole as long as I can, I think, and see what happens. iggi was it you who said you didn't ever take the omeprazole, or am I misremembering?

choccy fabulous that things seems to have settled down, and don't forget that the pred very often masks pregnancy symptoms.

kittens love the idea of you raiding your granny's stash of medication! Don't forget we can help you out if you need it too, albeit all my pred is in 5mg tablets due to them being cheaper than the 25mg ones so I'm taking 8 a day!

scooter lots of luck for today, let us know as soon as you know!!

duggs don't discount your extra-cooked follicle ... it might be a case of bigger is better/stronger/tougher, you never know! :) Loved the dream, isn't it amazing how our subconscious tries to sort everything out for us.

Well I spoke with Louise last night after my test results, and we were talking about dates for next lots of intralipids/scans etc (assuming we get past the 7 week scan on Wed 7th), not because I am in any way over optimistic about things going that far but because I was wondering how Christmas affects things. She said the New Life Clinic closes for Christmas on the 19th; IF I get a reasonable scan on the 7th, then I should book the 8 week intralipids for the following Wed/Thu/Fri 14th/15th/16th at NLC, then the following Wed, 21st, for next scan with Mr S but in Harley Street, obviously. That then hopefully takes me past Christmas. Obviously I am in NO way counting my chickens, I'll wait to see what happens on the 7th, but I'm relieved that I won't miss something I should have had due to the Christmas break. Presumably free, choccy and cheerful you'll have something similar - I am assuming with crossed fingers that we all get to that point!!!

duggs1976 · 25/11/2011 08:15

Good luck today scooter, welcome properly hopeful as u can see from here dr s treatment is working! cheerful no my cycles are generally 31 or 32 days sometimes I've had the odd 35 day usually after mc, but a few days in on this metformin i feel a bit better. Less cravings, more balanced am sure.

Had a dream we all met up and I arrived at a strange house and you were all in different rooms depending on where you were in your "journey". . but no one knew me when I introduced myself as duggs so I used my RL name and still blank faces!! Doest take Freud to work that one out, but I remember feeling panicked. A friend from RL appeared and she was chatting away to you all moving from room to room and I was wondering how she knew about you all! ( although I am not making it a secret that I've found a life saving group of amazingly strong and inspirational women on the same journey). I almost see the sigh of relief on RL friends and family's faces when I say as they have run out of consolation words and just scraping the barrel with their -you're doing so well gestures. I don't blame them, not sure I'd be any better if hadn't been going through this.

Anyway - the 2 WW starting for some of us again - hopefully some more of you can bugger off out of the liferaft into the yacht. And some from the yacht get to the cruise ship - homerun as time ticks by. Not holding out much hope from my overcooked, eagle sized follicle - but ok with that as not a wasted exercise this month due to discovery. Leaves some BFPs up for grabs ladies. Happy Friday Grin x

ChoccyPud · 25/11/2011 08:13

Re prescription costs, I haven't asked my GP but my local Lloyds chemist is very nice and gives discounts when the bill is over £50. Can't be arsed to go see the GP until I need to get into the nhs system.

Re Omeprazole you should take it - it's preventative but needs to build up I think. It prevents/reduces damage to your stomach caused by the Pred. Yes it's yet another drug but you don't want to end up with eg greater propensity to heartburn in the future due to Pred eroding your stomach lining or whatever it does. Ari and I got the lecture from Louise when we went for intralipids!

Update on me: pretty much almost clean on wiping this morning. Not quite stopped but lets hope. Bit of an achy lower back though. Feel distinctly un-pregnant which still definitely throws me even though I know I shouldn't worry about it - or at least that I shouldn't until someone tells me that the reason I don't feel pg is because I'm not pg, obv!

freelancegirl · 25/11/2011 00:06

Hey hopeful I think it is indeed good news that you have discovered a reason for the mcs! Now you know there is a path of treatment. I hope you feel somewhat comforted by that. My GP has been really good and converted all my prescriptions to NHS ones, hope yours is sympathetic too. Great news though! When did he say you can start ttc again....?

Bloody hell, just accidentally deleted all my post. ARGGGHHH!
MAin jist was, fab news for Ari. Good to hear Choccy that it seems to settled down.
HAd my follow up and i'm rating as high nk cells with 1.19. pescription for pred and cyclogest for when/if needed. Pleased in a weird way, I needed to hear a reason for all the m/c's.
Just wanted to ask where you lovely ladies would recommend getting the tablets? Anywhere cheaper than another? I'm thinking I'll try my luck with my GP.
All the best to all. Will write more at a more sensible hour!
