Glad to hear all is well Stogan - men can be so insensitive! Sometimes everything is about them! Have a relaxing weekend and take it easy:)

I had my Intralipids today which was fine. Taking my 40mg pred now so lets just wait and see! Digi - I'm not going to take any more HPTs as I got a really strong positive and don't want to become obsessed - what will be will be I guess.

Duggs - all the best with your busy week and 2 nice eggs:) I did feel bloated this month around ovulation so it could be that. Pred obviously doesn't help but as you have only taken one I doubt you would be too swollen just yet?

Kittens - I so sorry to hear about your mum. I'm really glad you can go and be with her. Such a hard time for you.

I wanted to ask - i'm planning on having a scan on 28th Dec (at Harley st not with Mr S as he is away) around 6 weeks or a few days after before I go to Italy. Have you seen heartbeats around this time before? I'd prefer to wait a few more days to 7 weeks but not possible.Hopefully the scan won't stress me out more if its too early for a heartbeat. I may need to find somewhere to go in Milan for a scan.

Havingkittens · 16/12/2011 16:33

I meant reading, not ready.

Havingkittens · 16/12/2011 16:32

stogan, so pleased all is well. Your DH needs a kick in the shins!

digi in the last couple of days things have gone downhill. Mum is very weak and can't do much for herself, needs lifting in and out of bed etc, struggling with breathing. I wanted to go earlier as I was terrified I'd get there too late but there were worries about how I would get to them from the airport as they are in the middle of nowhere and most of their friends have headed back to the UK for Christmas so not many lift options. My auntie decided this morning she needed to go over to provide practical help, spend some time with her sister and support me so it was also a perfect opportunity for us to fly out together. We managed to get 2 of the last 3 seats left. Bit of a terrible situation all round as she went to the nursing home and it's under new management and looks really bleak and miserable so doesn't want to leave my granny there. Also my granny had an enourmous emotional meltdown and is completely overwhelmed with everything so leaving her alone is going to be really hard. Trying to work out what to do now. What a mess!

duggs pred has that effect on me and ovulation doesn't, but ready digi's post it sounds like it really could be either. Sounds like some insurance SWI is called for.

digitalgirl · 16/12/2011 15:20

stogan glad all is well with baby. Sorry dh was being a twat.

duggs that's exactly what ovulation feels like for me! I'd go for it one more time. Xmas Wink

duggs1976 · 16/12/2011 14:51

Love your post slogan! glad you're ok!
Sorry to talk about ME again but feel like I'm throwing a lot at this month ttc and will feel really down if one of those 2 decent size eggs doesn't fertilise! So today is day for swi. Have done so with extra intent. Woke extra early 5.30am so ha time to lay with legs on air. First pred of cycle today now sat feeling bloated like a balloon. Is this pred or ovulation sign? Sorry for sounding 13 yrs old again - but I never really know when I ovulate but I know I must be because of injection timing. Does it feel like a bloated constipated feeling around womb?
kittens pm'ed u so no need for post to you.

Hope others are ok. sue how are you?

Arianrhod · 16/12/2011 14:36

Great to hear everything's ok stogan and you know ... men are just men, sometimes! I sometimes wonder whether they're on the same planet as us ... DP is wonderful, but even he has his insensitive moments! You didn't need that, with the worry and no doubt pain you were in. Virtual hugs, and you go enjoy yourself this afternoon, have lots of fun (but careful fun!) Xmas Grin

Stogan · 16/12/2011 14:33

Afternoon ladies well I'm home even tho they wanted me to stay in for a while, DH insensitively asking MW if she could hurry up with my anti d as he had meetings you know... PRICK !!!

Baby is ok anyway its just I have a few small aches still but guess that's just me and baba is fine so thats the main thing.

I'm just so upset with DH I mean I'm lying there in a hospital bed and he just keeps saying "I've got a meeting at 1pm, have they any idea how busy I am" for gods sake they were rushed off their feet and I got the last bed !!!

Maybe my hormones but he really doesn't seem to give too much of a shit about me at the moment even after the scare this morning, am very angry and upset !!Sad

Anyway it's my works meal at 3pm so stuff it I'm going to have fun even if it means me lying comfortably in the pub !!

Sorry for the selfish rant, how is everyone else? Please be careful in the snow and ice ladies xxxSmile

digitalgirl · 16/12/2011 14:11

oh kittens - have you had news to bring your flight forward or is the change of plans because your aunt wants to join you? Thinking of you, so so tough.

stogan you poor thing, what a fright. As others have said baby is tucked up safe and sound - it's you that will be bruised and battered. Hope you get seen soon.

coley get those intralipids down you! Hope dd is feeling better today after the table incident yesterday. What a day it turned out to be! Have you done a cb digi to see how far along you might be?

free lol thanks! Feel like a ttc expert yet not sure how much I remember from the early days with ds...
Am I right in thinking you're now the most pregnant you've ever been?

pq hilarious tips - no tights indeed, it's bloody freezing out there! Does the same go for jeggings?

ari exciting that you're on the same treatment as free now. So good that we're all here to pool our knowledge.

cheerful I'm with you on the not putting too much stock in actual numbers on the nkc tests. It's merely a diagnosis that enables our doctors to justify the pred/intralipids treatment. And it's the treatment that works.

euro, lol at the ketchup story.

stogan, sorry to hear you've had a fall. Like others have said, there's plenty of protection in there to keep the little one safe but I can understand your worry. Take it easy for a few days if you can.

Change of plans for me. Going down to see family tomorrow and help get my poor granny prepared to go and stay in a nursing home for a few days whilst my auntie and I fly out to France on Sunday. I've managed to bring my flight forward by 4 days and although circumstances are pretty rough I'm glad at least that I am going earlier. I was pretty petrified of getting there too late if I'm honest. I've never had to think about packing a potential funeral dress in my Christmas luggage before. Oh fuck.....

PQ77 · 16/12/2011 11:07

I know they are pretty hilarious - I average about three hours sleep, get woken up, have to slay imaginary monsters and reorganise toys then get about another two hours..

eurochick · 16/12/2011 11:05

Thanks for sharing, PQ.

I'm pretty good at most of that, although I do exercise, have a fair amount of stress and eat a little chocolate most days. And in this weather i am definitely wearing tights. That's interesting about not having alcohol in the blood around the time of conception. I have moderated my drinking an awful lot but haven't cut it out completely around ov. I might give it a go next month as ov this month is likely to fall around Xmas Day! So many of my friends seem to have got pregnant when hammered though, I am not sure I set that much store by it!

Arianrhod · 16/12/2011 11:00

"8 hours sleep for two nights in a row" Well that's me out then, I can't remember the last time I had that much sleep two nights in a row :(

Interesting tips there PQ ... I knew about the cough medicine one (most often mentioned is Robitussin) although I've never tried it. Avoiding stress ... hmm ... nah, think that one's not likely for me either. OH will not take extra vitamins, so that's out too. Hmm Wonder how we've managed to get pregnant so far then! Grin

PQ77 · 16/12/2011 10:48

how horrible stogan - hope you get seen soon. Great news you're nauseous Coley!

free and euro - mw led unit at lewisham is apparently amazing but ordinary unit pretty standard London hospital fare. I am not eligible for mw led units cos of complications last time so I think i kind of mentally blocked that out!

For whoever it was asking for conception tips:

I have my American how to make a baby book ("Getting Pregnant: What you need to know right now") that I picked up at waterstones a few years ago and have never seen since! but it has some tips which have worked for us 7 times first pop - but then that is more likely down to my ridiculously unfussy uterus.

  • take a cough medicine with guafenesin in it 1/2 teaspoons a day from 4 days prior to ovulation (stop at ovulation). This makes the cm more inviting! Boots chesty cough has this in it.

For the 48 hrs before the big event (when you start SWI):

You should aim to avoid (I have missed out the obvious ones like recreational drugs etc): wearing tights, artifical sweetners, excessive sugar, coca cola (esp diet coke), coffee, tea, chocolate, very hot showers, baths, saunas, electric blankets, exercise and stress (!)

  • OH should avoid tight underwear, ejaculation, hot baths etc, heavy physical activity
  • BOTH of you should : avoid stress (like that one), increase vit C to 500mg 2x day (that's one fizzy redoxen split in two), vit b complex 50 mg 3x day, b6 100mg x day, 8 hours sleep for two nights in a row, avoid any alcohol or cigarettes. NB the extra vitamins are just for two days.

The Dr in this book is really anti having alcohol in your bloodstream (and your partner's) when conception occurs, particularly for women with recurrent mc. BUT I know that's obviously not a problem for lots and lots of people so I really don't want want to ruin everyone's fun, just repeating what's in the book (and this is just one Dr's opinion. Mr S is not concerned until +ve pregnancy test - I asked him last time).

eurochick · 16/12/2011 10:36

Scooter I love your monikers - the Pred Police, Womb Square. I'm not a teacher, I'm a [whispers] lawyer. I do have to explain a lot of techinical legal concepts to lay people though and analogies are often helpful for that, which might be why my brain works that way!

Coley that is great news!

free i think it is a wise choice to stay in wearing comfy clothes - it is vile out there at the moment!

kittens once early on when we were ttc and it was still a laugh, Mr euro grabbed my raised legs hoiked them up in the air and whacked the bottom of my feet! When I asked him what the hell he was up to, he said it worked for ketchup....

stogan I hope all goes well. My mum fell down a flight of concrete stairs when she was 8 months pg with me and I turned out just fine, so try not to worry.

Arianrhod · 16/12/2011 10:03

Aarrghh stogan you poor thing, I hope you're ok! As coley says, there's lots of cushioning in there for little one, but not so much for you!! Hope they see you soon, the worry is the last thing you need!

ColeyOz · 16/12/2011 10:00

Oh Stogan- I'm so sorry to hear you fell. Your little one is very secure in there with lots of fluid so they should be ok. Please let us know how you go- fingers crossed for you.

I'm just on the train to Epsom for my first intralipids. It's all happened so quickly. The only reason I took a pregnancy test yesterday was because I wanted to know what was happening with my cycle and got a positive opk. Coincidently I started feeling nausea last night and today so obviously lots of Hcg kicking around (hopefully!). Just the waiting game now and I'm going to Italy over new years when I will need my first scan around 7 weeks so thinking may book one over there in Milan!

How is everyone else today?

Stogan · 16/12/2011 09:48

Sat here In maternity at local hospital. Fell on ice this morning and really hurt my left side and now I've got like little stitches all over my tummy. rang MW and she said come to hospital just to be checked over and been sat here for an hour ! Absolutely kaking my pants and the mat ward is full so no one can see me. I can't take this, sick with worry x

freelancegirl · 16/12/2011 08:52

Just reading back Digi's advice to me about booking appointments and also to Coley about why her AF might have been late. You really know your stuff don't you. You do know what if (WHEN!) I have a baby I will be phoning you up every 5 minutes asking you what I need to do next :) You are so right about the scan dates. If I get that far I will follow your advice.

Kittens hope you have a nice time with your grannie and auntie. Staying wit family might be just what you need. I am heading to a work related lunch in Chatham first and then to Brighton.

OP posts:
Havingkittens · 16/12/2011 08:37

Brilliant news coley. I did have my suspicions. It was you who was wondering about pred making your AF late wasn't it? Congratulations!

digi you make a good point about the mooncup theory. It's something that had crossed my mind before actually but I wasn't sure if the 20 minute window of legs in the air was enough. I may lay off the mooncup for a bit again and see what transpires.

ari thanks for your lovely comments. I guess seeing the funny side of things works as a distraction for me. I am very sad and anxious these days but I'm trying to not let myself get too bogged down. I think there will be time for that to come.

Whilst I'm at it with the funny TTC observations. We have a kind of amusing routine whereby when we have finished the SWI, OH grabs me by the ankles and lifts my bum off the bed whilst I grab as many pillows as I can lay my hands on and stuff them under my bum before he lets go. It's quite hilarious.

free, I am driving to Hove this morning too, to see my granny and auntie.

battery how are you getting on? Are you having another blood test today?

freelancegirl · 15/12/2011 22:37

Fab news for Coley! It's that first crucial step! Don't worry too much about the break in Pred, it will still be in your system and you can get right on the case with the intralipids. The left side niggling is probably the corpeus luteum. I had quite a lot of that at first too.

Hurrah! Another BFP. And so the mentalling begins for you too. We are here for hand holding.

Stogan so glad you are feeling so positive, if emotional, about things. May we all follow in your footsteps!

Scooter a holiday is exactly what you need. Go soak up some sun and rest your no doubt weary bones. Take lots of books (assuming people with kids still get the time!) and switch off for a lovely break. Gosh I can almost feel the sun on my face just thinking about it.

Battery glad your levels are going in the right direction. Still very stressful for you I realise.

I think those are some wise words from Cheerful about trying not to get too hung up on NK cells counts and numbers. Especially about the medical world not necessarily being able to explain exactly why certain treatments work. In my more optimistic moments I feel the same. It was something that did bother me, being that my count was so high. But we have to have a little faith sometimes I guess. Not always easy though. Especially when I have had the odd mild cramp this evening! Keep waiting for it to turn into something hideous but so far it has just gone away. I haven't been to the loo now since Monday's issues so I guess that is becoming a problem again Hmm

DH has gone to that dinner tonight (the one I was umming and ahing about a few weeks ago) and I have stayed in, happily in comfy clothes and getting some work done. I am quite happy not to be out in the cold and dark at the moment and having to put a fake face on things. Brighton for the weekend tomorrow but it will be calm with daytime activities not evening ones! Still mentalling that things are going wrong, but there's nothing to be done except clock-watch, knicker-watch and get on with things.

OP posts:
batteryhen · 15/12/2011 21:03

coley - was meant to be a :) !

batteryhen · 15/12/2011 21:03

coley that is fab news :
duggs I did email Louise too - she said they have risen so not too bad, do another on saturday and let her know. She said that in some early pregnancies they only rise by 20%.
digi Yes I am going to the epau on saturday to have them done. I may bring my scan forward to next week - I am worried about ectopic so will have to keep my wits about me xx

Sorry not to name check, am fairly exhausted, but I am reading all your posts too xx

digitalgirl · 15/12/2011 20:33

coley congratulations! It was door number 2 afterall! Grin

battery sorry you're still in limbo chook. Are you having another test on Saturday?

Arianrhod · 15/12/2011 20:18

scooter well done you for getting through today. Roll on that Carribbean holiday, it will be fabulous!!

Truthfully I'm not entirely sure as to the exact reason Mr S is putting me on the hydroxy although Louise did say maybe because of the very high level of cells (and the fact they're so much higher than they were previously). He did mention when I saw him for my scan taking the 'throw everything we can at it' approach which I'm all in favour of. Perhaps it's a combination of the two. Will be asking more when I see him on the 4th but right now I'm happy to try it.
