Hi all!
Gosh there is so much to catch up on from the past few days. Our internet has been playing up so I've only just managed to get back online!

Just a quick one to say I'm coming along tonight and aim to be there around 5.30, unless the lure of the shops on Oxford Street proves too much for me and I take a detour along the way!! Grin I'll be looking out for those furry coats and can't wait to meet you all later!

cherrycheeks · 06/12/2011 13:22

iggi great news on the scan.

Looking forward to seeing everyone later. I'll have to make notes on the way as I have a rubbish memory for names!

I should be there about 7pm.. Just off to dig out a furry coat :)

snoopygirl · 06/12/2011 13:12

Hi duggs

sue's post from yesterday;- "Duggs, Snoopy, Comedy and myself are meeting at 2.30pm at The Royal Oak pub in Farnham Common (Beaconsfield Road, Farnham Common, Slough, Berkshire, SL2 3HS Tel: 01753 257 473). Message me if you can come as I will mail you my mobile number".

duggs1976 · 06/12/2011 11:54

snoopy and sue yes am meeting up in pub on sat! What time?

Also battery I hear u on not getting pg, although it took me 6 attempts my first few pregnancies so maybe just me and shite eggs!!

batteryhen · 06/12/2011 11:10

Thanks all for your words, I haven't actually tested yet - but it's the lack of symptoms that make me feel it's a no. But I did have a temp crash on 8DPO which has worked its way back up again now - so only time wiil tell I suppose.

I am very jealous of the meet up today :(

But am with free on the rabbit - I am a meat eater but somehow tucking into thumper just doesn't do it for me :)

Arianrhod · 06/12/2011 10:44

Oh rats, must finish posts before I actually post the message. I meant to say, a big WOOHOO! digi for the kicking, that's a splendid, wonderful thing to feel! :)

Sorry if I've missed anything/anyone out, brain is fried today .. apart from the pred-sleep issue, DP has developed a racking cough and when he coughs, the whole house shakes. He was coughing all last night and all the night before, so I am running on about 2 hours sleep (snoring sounds coming from my desk) ...

Arianrhod · 06/12/2011 10:42

And ahem ... Free, you ARE pregnant. Don't know if you saw it, but saw a great acronym on one of the babycentre boards the other day ... PUPO, Pregnant Until Proven Otherwise. Grin Seriously, I do understand the qualms, and I'm keeping everything crossed for you this week especially, I know you feel this is a dodgy point for you, but I'm praying this little bean is a fighter and you'll sail on past towards the heady ship that is week 8. And I'm not surprised your body is feeling run down, with all that steroidal activity going on in your system as well as early pregnancy ... are you sleeping properly? (doubting this) That will bugger up your body good and proper, as you know. Pregnancy nausea and tiredness, all good signs!

scooterchaser · 06/12/2011 10:41

Morning all.

iggy hoooray! Good news :)
lemon gave me a cold shiver to think how self-absorbed of your IL's. That's so hard to take, especially when they seem completely unaware of how insensitive they're being. Makes you want to scream and slap people sometimes doesn't it!
battery hang in there. I also had BFNs til 14dpon on pred.
digi cartwheels for the kicking, that's lovely to hear. On the subject of testing, I haven't had an ERPC and we absolutely couldn't face the 'capturing' thing this time because it was so horrendous getting someone to take it off our hands the last time. Had to wait in EPU with my tub for four hours. I slightly regret that now because I will never know whether it was ok, but in the moment we couldn't put ourselves through that again.

Hi to blue welcome and sorry to hear your story. Glad you have decided to try and rule out the NK cells. It does make you feel better to know you investigated every possibility.

Out for the first time for me last night. Went to see Gary Barlow at the Royal Albert Hall (a charity thing DH's work had tickets for). He had Jason Donovan guesting and I did a big sing to 'Too many broken hearts in the world' on behalf of all of us. Getting through 'Patience' is a task and a half for the recent miscarried but I managed most of the evening without crying, hooray progress!!

See you all later, I look so rough this morning I am going to have to start all attempts to beautify right now!!

Arianrhod · 06/12/2011 10:38

Mmm I thought that too free, but as my DP pointed out, that ingredient list shows Vitamin D3 way, way down the list - almost the last thing listed. It has some D3, but not much. I went and checked out calcium carbonate - that isn't vitamin D3, vit D3 is colecalciferol, whereas calcium carbonate is a calcium salt. We've been duped :(

snoopygirl · 06/12/2011 10:21

Free thought the bunny might get a reaction!! It's lovely...you never know what with funny preg symtoms you might fancy a bit of meat! ...now your probably heaving, sorry about that Smile

freelancegirl · 06/12/2011 10:12

Boots ARE vitamin D3, it says it on the ingredients list:

Calcium Carbonate, Cellulose, Maltodextrin, Acacia, Sucrose, Maize Starch, Magnesium Stearate, Silicon Dioxide, Triglycerides, Vitamin D3, Antioxidant (Tocopherol).

The one with the silver packet and red writing: HERE

Iggi great news on the scan! That's really wonderful. That dopplar is crap and isn't doing you any favours!

Battery and Snoopy I think the Pred/implantation thing is right, that it can help with it. I have had BFNs on 12DPO before and then left it until 14 to test and got a faint positive. That's what happened this time and ok it might not necessarily last but I am/was definitely pregnant!

Snoopy a little vomit emoticon at the thought of rabbit pie from a non-meat eater here. I am not usually a queasy person but I think I am definitely getting pregnancy nausea and tiredness this week. I guess it is good for me to actually have some symptoms. But rabbit? Eugggh!

I am not ill Digi but I think my body is finally starting to get quite a bit run down. I have huge dark circles under my eyes, never had those before and my face really does look like shit. I will trowel on the make-up later so you might not be able to tell me I really do look rough as anything. I was really looking forward to a facial here at the hotel I am at but they just rejected me at the spa as its their policy not to treat people before 12 weeks pregnant! Gutted. I think a bit of a face treatment is the least of this babies worries :) Am glad to hear that successful pregnancy symptoms are variable though.

Lemon, shocked too at your ILs! How unspeakably insensitive.

Really looking forward to later! I will be there at 6pm and hopefully we can get a nice table so we are rest our furry bums xx

Arianrhod · 06/12/2011 09:56

Morning ladies ... now trawling the net for next-day delivery on vit d3, since I literally cannot get time out this week to get to H&B. It was one of the shop assistants in Boots, sue - yes, I should have known better :( I did use this to point out to DP last night, now you know why I do so much of my own research into these things, you can't rely on anyone giving you the right information! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. And yes, of course I then wondered if my lack of D3 is what caused this MC, you're quite right ... and no, of course it didn't, I know that rationally.

battery until this pregnancy I've never, but never got a line on 10dpo - never got anything until 12dpo previously, and I know a lot of ladies don't even get one that early. In fact I didn't even bother testing on 10dpo this time, I waited until 11. Hang in there, you never know.

/waves to everyone, have a fab furry meet-up later!

snoopygirl · 06/12/2011 09:41

Morning,

battery, I can't swear to it but I'm sure someone wrote (maybe on BC board) that the pred can help to conceive but don't quote me on it. Sorry about lack of line so far but like everyone told me keep testing for a few days yet it's early and I think alot of girls on here got a line at 14dpo and not the day before so still time. fc for you.

Digi I did Old English Rabbit pie, delia recipe as I love rabbit. that was a big success although pud far too sweet! the only thing with rabbit is it's a lot of faffing about to try and get all bones out.

lemon Don't get me started on IL's!!! but seriously how can anyone be so heartless... can't believe that.

iggi Well done for your great scan!

sue Is duggs not meeting us in pub then?

Enjoy your mass fur frenzy tonight London ladies x

batteryhen · 06/12/2011 09:26

Hello all

iggi good news for the scan - I think you need to hide your doppler now though!

With the Vit D3 thing - I get mine from a health food shop as the boots ones aren't the right ones - the boots assistant told me that ....:)

Well 10 dpo here and I feel nothing. I am certain I am not pg, so I am down a bit. I have got pg so easily in the past. Does anyone think that the pred can actially inhibut implantation? :(

hopefulfor2nd · 06/12/2011 09:05

Im off to H and B to get specfic D3 ones. Hope the ones I've been taking have at least done some good - bloody Boots assistants!!

waves xxxx

lemonsherbet · 06/12/2011 00:16

vitabiotics (the same people that make pregacare) have vitamin d3 at 25ug. Those were the ones the pharmacist in Boots gave me. Hope this helps.

suemays · 05/12/2011 23:59

Ari did you ask the pharmacist or the shop assistant in Boots? I also went to an independent pharmacy and asked them the same question. They told me D3 was different as I think its made from animal protein and not synthetic like the other Vit D so it's stronger. I think it supports the baby and helps it grow so I don't think it will make any difference in causing a miscarriage. The steroids seem to be the thing that help prevent the miscarriage and the Omega3/Vit D3 tablets just support them so without the preds they would make no difference. Dont feel like its something you have done wrong as I know what is going through your mind. I would check with Dr S as I am just guessing that the Boots ones are different. He did specifically tell me to take 25ug though of D3. Hope that helps?

Digi lovely news that your DH felt the baby kick!

Kittens good luck tomorrow

Lemon I cant believe how insenstive your ILs are - to plan a meal on the funeral is awful. They say you cant pick your family and yours prove that. I have heard that Killer cells can be responsible for later losses as they keep attacking the baby until it dies. Its an awful thought that all of us are unknowingly doing this and makes me feel angry at myself.

digitalgirl · 05/12/2011 23:11

Hope I got the list right. Was about 150 posts away.

iggi yay!!!!! Grin

iloveblue hello from threads past! Glad you've thought about doing the NKC test. My totally unscientific theory about your situation is that maybe your late loss triggered the increase in NK Cells. So perhaps they didn't necessarily cause the late loss, but they might have been the cause of the following mcs.
I hope you find a way to make it work for you.

ari sorry to hear bleeding's getting worse and confirming what you'd suspected all along. Sad But you sound amazingly pragmatic about it all now, even if you don't feel it inside. So shitty that this has to happen again.

scooter I don't know if this will help, but my last MC grew perfectly well until it stopped at 8+1. There was a chromosome problem. You'd think that with a chromosome problem it would be obvious from the start...but it measured well at the scans at 5 weeks and 7 weeks. So it's possible that there was a chromosome problem in your case. I had an ERPC specifically to test - but I'm guessing it happened naturally for you Sad.

choccy well done on the shopping. You totally totally deserve it. You don't have to feel sad all the time. I cried loads but in between I actually laughed and had moments of happiness. It was almost a relief not to be pg and be worrying.

free I forgot to put your next scan date in Blush. This is going to be a long week to get through for you...previous mc milestone weeks are particularly hard I think. But we're all here to keep up your PMA. My barely there symptoms disappeared quite often at your stage. I actually didn't mind not feeling pregnant as it was easier to forget to stress about it. It was the odd cramp and twinge that freaked me out more. There are still moments now when I forget I am pg. Usually morning when I'm least achey and running around trying to get out the house for pre-school run/work.

snoopy what did you do for your main course in the end?

kittens good luck seeing your friends tomorrow. Sometimes the idea of it is worse than actually going through with it.

Have any of the pregnant ladies NOT been ill? I've managed to avoid the flu that did the rounds in my department. I have a pregnant colleague two desks away from me who has been off every other week with some hideous cold. I've been fine (touch wood). I've been taking care not to catch anything - lots of hand washing and avoiding ill people as much as possible. But when pg with DS I had a cold in the 2ww, and I think a couple of colds during pregnancy.

Some happy news - DH felt the baby kick this morning!

Looking forward to seeing some of you tomorrow. I'll be there early and will probably bail early-ish too as I'll either need to eat or sleep.

eurochick · 05/12/2011 23:07

That's great news, iggy.

I have the D3 from Holland & Barrett too. I couldn't find it in Boots.

You got me wondering what it was for. A quick google brought up this:
autoimmunityresearch.org/transcripts/AR-Albert-VitD.pdf
which seems to suggest an autoimmune link from the headnote (which is all I have read so far). Interesting.

So is the London meeting still on for tomorrow? I'm not 100% sure I can make it but I am going to try. It would be lovely to meet some of my pred thread buddies. :)

lemonsherbet · 05/12/2011 22:54

Hi, sorry not caught up on the board. In terms of in laws knowing re my miscarriage yes they did. People who have not had a miscarriage have no idea what it is like. Had 30mins of how great their pregnancy was going how they had only just started and how great there life is. This is the same family that wanted me to go out for a celebratory meal (family occasion) the same day we had the funeral for my 20 week loss.

blue I think I know you from the 20 week loss board and the angel babies thread. In terms of what to do, I am quite similar in the fact had a 20 week loss where everything came back normal. I would still recommend having NK cells done. I would also recommend Mr Shehata. Have only seen him the one time. But he did listen and did make me feel like there is some hope. Something I have been lacking the past couple of days. I do think the NK cells typically cause first trimester loss but I think in case like ours you need to shift everything you can in your favour. I did not ask him if they do cause second trimester losses but knowing my history 8 week, 20 week and 6 week loss he did recommend testing for them.

Sorry did not get to read the rest of the board so hello everyone else

Arianrhod · 05/12/2011 22:40

Hmm That's odd sue since I also asked my Boots if they sold Vit D3 in 25mcg and they said yes - and have me the silver box I have. I specifically told them it had to be D3 .. now I'm wondering if I've been taking the wrong stuff :(. I'll get a different one .. does a lack of D3 cause MCs then? :(

ChoccyPud · 05/12/2011 22:37

Thanks digi sweet of you but it's ok. It is what it is. Nice work putting us into a whole new category - that's cool :)

Comedy missed your post saying you can make it for our out of town meet up this Saturday (10th) so ignore my one above!

If anyone else can make it, Duggs, Snoopy, Comedy and myself are meeting at 2.30pm at The Royal Oak pub in Farnham Common (Beaconsfield Road, Farnham Common, Slough, Berkshire, SL2 3HS Tel: 01753 257 473). Message me if you can come as I will mail you my mobile number. We should also try and arrange another one for us all to get to in the New Year as I would like to meet all the London based ladies too.

Free as you know I didnt even know I was pregnant with my DD until 8 weeks as no symptoms. As soon as I got to 9 weeks it was full on sickness and tiredness until around 14 weeks. In the 2nd trimester I kept forgetting I was pregnant as felt full of energy etc. I wasn't on any drugs then so the sickness wasn't masked. You would prob be feeling more pregnant without the preds so don't panic!!!

Havingkittens · 05/12/2011 22:14

Ari these are the ones I get from Holland & Barrett

www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product_detail.asp?pid=826&prodid=886&cid=163&sid=0

Gosh, I can't decide which of my furry coats to wear tomorrow!
