whimsicalname · 16/11/2011 10:06

blimey you lot have been busy.

We've got builders in too. I had to take a day off work to see them, but will cunningly nip out in an hour to the hairdressers.

Got to go and make them coffee now. They're posh builders so expect the good stuff!

PopcornMouse · 16/11/2011 09:52

And I am sssssssoooooo cold

PopcornMouse · 16/11/2011 09:52

lmao! :o Blush

Still loooooads of CM Hmm not sure what that's about, unless my body's just been ramping up production for the past 10 days while it waits for me to get the feck on with things and ovulate? Can't say I'm over the moon about the prospect of what will be a 36 day cycle Hmm but on the bright side, at least I won't be expecting AF on Christmas day :o

beangrower · 16/11/2011 09:33

Oh dear Pop - hope you get through the day and survive. Great about temp being back on track and 1lb lighter too. I've got a really good feeling for you this month! And what about CM? Update please.

Yes - I think it is good news re SA. Will be tough on him as he's quite a retiring sort of corduroy-wearing man, IYKWIM. I will do my best to help in all aspects. Grin Blush

Sparkly medal - ratsmacking in the face of a yawner.

Better get on. Am off for the needles soon.

PopcornMouse · 16/11/2011 09:26

That's great news bean ! Men can be really hard work, but at least you know if you do all the legwork he'll at least get it done - and it'll put both your minds at rest :)

PopcornMouse · 16/11/2011 09:20

Mooooorning :o

Sweetie I dont have an iPhone, but I do use FertilityFriend on the internet on my phone - it's just www.fertilityfriend.com/m/ I think

Horrible day at chateau Popcorn today, tis not only a deadline day at work (thus I shall still be tinkering away at 10pm no doubt :( ) but we also have a builder in. Lovely.

Temps raised nice and high though I'm no longer sure if that means anything at all Hmm But rats were smacked in the popcorn household as soon as I finished work yesterday just incase DH felt sleepy at 8pm again! and I have also lost 1lb this week :o

beangrower · 16/11/2011 08:32

Morning all

Sweetie Shock your DH may be a long time catching up on Google! Gosh our guys really don't know the half of what we're going through.

Hi Scream - very exciting news. Congratulations - only 5 weeks to wait for confirmation..! Hmm

Small victory here in Bean Towers this am (thought felt more like neurotic bullying at the time). DP has agreed to go for SA. Brookers, you will commend my logic: I argued a) it's bound to be fine and when we get the perfect results back I will never be able to nag about booze ever again (he wanted that in writing, surprise, surprise) and b) why pay for my tests privately if we haven't crossed S issues off the list first, seeing as he really should be able to convince GP that it's his right to have the test for free. Of course he tried to resist and send me for expensive tests first. I reminded him that not long ago he had asked "What can I do to help?"

Now just the minor obstacle of registering him at the surgery first Hmm and then will book him in, and then will take SA in for him... so loads of hard work for me pushing him up the SA hill.

Any more news from you guys?

musicalmrs · 16/11/2011 07:53

Munkii, so sorry to hear your news :( I hope everyone is taking really good care of you, and that you're taking it easy.

Sorry to hear about AF far, but at the same time, what perfect timing for India :) When do you go?

Stasi, congratulations on being a Mrs, and well done for rat smacking on your wedding night! I seem to remember that we DTD that night, despite getting to the hotel at a ridiculous time, but I also remember being completely shattered!

Also wondering where Maybe is?!

Sorry, have only had a few mins to catch up with the last few pages (have been away for a few days) so sorry for anything vitally important I've missed. Got in at about 12.30am last night (this morning!) and now a full day's work ahead.. zzzzz.

SweetieDoesIt · 16/11/2011 07:46

Thanks bean I also had only had TCM and moxy until yesterday. Will see how I get on. I have said I will continue until early Dec and then may be take a break over Christmas. can not really afford with everything else going on in December

What lovely news Scream I am not sure we have 'met' but i am still loving the scan news.

DH told me last night that he doesn't believe me that we can only get preggers 1 week out of the month didn't like to break it to him it is really only 36 hours "how do any babies get made?" - EXACTLY!!!! I have told him to Google it.

BeedleTheBard · 16/11/2011 05:30

Wow you lot are very clever with the knitting and sewing. I made some curtains for our lounge (loads not just a pair, we have lots of windows) last year, unfortunatly they are still waiting for me to hem them Blush.

Scream congrats on your little girl (equal congratulations if she turns out to be a boy :) )

Munkii hope that DH is taking care of you and hope to see you back here whenever you feel ready - or even just to say hello if you don't feel up to trying again for a while ((hugs))

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 15/11/2011 23:38

Just popping in to say how sorry I am to hear Munkii's news. I hope you have lots of support in RL, and obviously we'll all be here No Brooking for you.

Also sorry that evil AF caught up with Far. I'm v jealous of the hol tho, sounds like a perfectly timed BFP coming up this month!

Welcome back to Stasi and congrats! My DH and i did actually manage to DTD on our wedding night, but I think that's mainly because I made him abstain for a week or so in advance so that we'd both be gagging for it properly enthusiastic on the day Wink

I had a private 16 week scan at the weekend and they think it's a girl, so there's lots of excitement in our house at the mo! Trying to wait for a 2nd confirmation of the gender at the 21 week scan before getting too carried away, but sadly restraint is not my strong point!

Who's next to test? Sounds like there are are lots of people in the 2ww so I'm expecting lots of newbies over on the antenatal thread v soon!

beangrower · 15/11/2011 20:58

Hi Sweetie sounds v exciting and bound to work. I only have TCM acu with moxy and cupping. Tomorrow will be #7 session. I will keep up for 3 months min while SH takes herbs.

N'night all. Lots of TTC beauty sleep.

Solars · 15/11/2011 20:07

Oh Little glad to hear you are feeling better, yes where is Maybe? I hope she is ok.

Sweetie not a football widow but regularly a cricket widow!

I have a HTC but don't use any fertility apps sorry Raspberry

SweetieDoesIt · 15/11/2011 19:52

You are all a very crafty bunch, I am very jealous as I would love to be able to make things. Like raspberry my nana tried to teach me but I am left handed so I struggled to pick it up I am totally uncoordinated and have a very short attention span

Just back from this weeks acupuncture, calling bean, you have acupuncture too I believe - Have you had a current through one of the needles to give things a boost? Hmm was a tad shocked but the British reserve stopped me saying anything

Anyone else a football widow tonight?

TheLittleFriend · 15/11/2011 19:24

Hi all

I'm feeling a teeny tiny bit better this evening, thankfully.

So very sorry to hear your news Munkii. Take care of yourself, we'll look forward to having you back soon.

Can I just say, WHERE'S MAYBE??? I hope Otis hasn't eaten her laptop.

raspberrytipple · 15/11/2011 18:59

Thanks solars I've settled right in now :)

Hugs munki we've not spoken yet but my thoughts are with you, it's so horrible. take care of yourself though xx

Get you girls all sewing and knitting. I used to knit with my nan but I used to knit anything that didn't require a pattern or anything more than basically a square and even then nan usually had to frequently sorted out my dropped stitches :)

Just wanted to ask - what, if any fertility apps do you girls use on the iphone? I'm going to get one to try and keep a track of things. I'm guessing if I get a referral to a specialist he will want to know what we've been monitoring etc before I go in. Also, I've been thinking about temping seeing as I've given up drinking (didn't ever see the point before as booze apparently raises your temp quite a bit so throws out the results and I was having a few drinks a week). Any suggestions on thermometers and the best way to use them Grin

Solars · 15/11/2011 18:52

Hello everyone !

RL is becoming incredibly busy these days so not a lot of time to post let alone read what's been going on with you all - you girls are so chatty!

Hope all of you not feeling well get better soon x

Farfalla so sorry about nasty AF turning up but I think this is now your month what with the relaxing holiday in India coming up Envy

Imps hope all your work issues are resolved soon would love to be a fly on the wall when you tell them where to stick they're job if you have to resign!

Statsi welcome back Mrs! Well done on you for wedding night SWI, we were so knackered on the night but managed it the next day!

Very Envy of all of those who can knit, crochet etc

Cupcakes hope you are SWI tonight after your +ve opk - good luck!

Popcorn I have read somewhere google that your LH can continue surging until the egg is released and that it is possible to ovulate twice. the only time I have had quite a lot of watery CM is the month I stopped talking the pill. Sorry not much help really.

I know there's lots of you I've not mentioned but hope you're all doing ok, oh yes welcome Raspberry

Also sending lots of {{{hugs}}} to both Munkii & Bartlett

My only news is that i'm trying not to obsess too much this month with ttc, I think I was getting quite mental last month with being on clomid and everything Confused I'm on CD5 and going to be taking my last clomid pill tomorrow with SWI to follow...

PopcornMouse · 15/11/2011 16:51

smegs there's a book out calledGet the most from your sewing machine or I'd recommend the Sewing Bible? There is also a for making envelope cushion covers, but I confess I've not watched it through...

beangrower · 15/11/2011 16:47

Thanks Stasi - I think my regular cd12 smiley is enough to go on. Ov must happen on cd13 I think with AF arriving cd27 mostly. Just gotta pop a decent egg and try to keep DP away from the booze.

Youtube is great. I recommend Erika Knight for crochet patterns but also she gives easy instructions with pictures.

ScrambledSmegs · 15/11/2011 16:43

Stasi that's precisely it. I think my surge probably lasts around 18 hours or so, but it starts in the evening so morning testing only ever gives me one smiley face.

Popcorn I learnt to knit from 'Stitch & Bitch' Blush Never managed it before that, despite my grandmother and mother trying to teach me for years. I'm currently trying to learn how to use my sewing machine properly (want to make cushion covers) but can't seem to get the hang of it. Any tips for good sites to use for advice?

Stasi · 15/11/2011 16:31

Popcorn understood, no worries :)

I ended up teaching myself quite a lot of knitting through youtube. The problem is the conflicting styles and methods, I generally just find the one I actually understand best, and go with that. I'm knitting a nice easy jumper for DH just now, not sure what the pattern is called, it looks like a waffle almost with rows of K, P, K1P1, P1K1, K, P, P1K1, K1P1 and repeat. Hoping to have it finished before next Christmas.

PopcornMouse · 15/11/2011 16:23

I can't really say, stasi, it would out me majorly and the last thing I want is my boss googling the mag and finding this thread! Especially because I'm about to say......

If you're just learning, don't bother buying "how to" books. Instead, find yourself a reasonably easy pattern (like a blanket if it's crochet) and then search each stitch on YouTube. It's an excellent way to learn, and waaaay easier than snapshots in a book.

:o

Stasi · 15/11/2011 16:18

Munkii so sorry to hear your news, look after yourself.

Bean I think the idea behind testing twice a day is that sometimes you can miss the surge all together. If you never get any positive results, then test twice a day and you may get a positive - implying your surge doesn't last 24 hours, but only say 12 or 18 which you can miss with testing once a day.

Popcorn what magazine, if you don't mind me asking? Or if you have any books etc to recommend. I've really got into knitting recently, but would love to learn some crochet as well. There are so many books out there on knitting and crochet now, I just don't know how to choose!

Generic fingers crossed for you this month, and also good luck with the self control. I always tell myself not to test till I'm properly late, but never manage it. AF either turns up when expected, or I test the day before. Unfortunately all aspects of my cycle are variable, so even knowing my ov date my lp varies by 2-3 days. The plan is to always wait for 18 dpo, but I never expect to get that far, and something about doing a test makes it possible for a bfp... like buying a lottery ticket.

I read somewhere that the best time to get pg is with sex at 6am. Not sure if there was any science backing it up, or where I (and DH) read it. We are never, ever up at 6am though, so that doesn't happen in our house. DH does prefer morning SWI to night time though, however I like to lay down for a while afterwards (so the swimmers have gravity on their side) and morning is a bad time for that, unless it's the weekend.

beangrower · 15/11/2011 16:09

Popcorn - that's cool, you're a crafty mouse. Always appreciate an intro' to a really good crochet mag. I use books and re-taught myself crochet after DS was born as I am more home-bound than I used to be. Have made toys and clothes and am quite smug about managing it by just reading books (my Gran taught me the basics when I was 17 and I hadn't done it since). Nothing like being an artful bodger... the world is run by confidence tricks along.

beangrower · 15/11/2011 16:06

Please explain short surge times my lovelies? I have tried testing on the evening of cd11, negative. Always get a smiley face in the morning of cd12 (apart from one freak cycle when it was cd15 and AF was suitably late). Have tried but not had a smiley face on the morning of cd13. Should I be testing on the eve of cd12 to check length of surge? Or should I carry on assuming that I am oving on cd13 as AF usually arrives on the evening of cd27, tho' last month morning of cd28 (which felt like a good thing for some reason)? Sorry for the neurotic query...
