Hello - after a while of TTC with nothing but a chemical pregnancy I have purchased myself a shiny new CBFM in the hope it will make things a bit less stressful. I was an advocate of just having SWI everyother day but in reality that it quite a lot for me and DH and the poor thing works very long hours so not always possible.

I'm starting this thread for anyone else who's started TTC using the CBFM in the hope we can give eachother a little support etc.....

I'm on day 5 today so think i have to start POAS tomorrow......

Anyone out there who wants to join the journey?!!

Thanks choc that's helpful.

Chocchip88 · 27/11/2011 11:54

JN018 I think in your position I would wait to see the doctor. If you're not ovulating then the CBFM isn't going to help you until you are, 15th Dec isn't too far away (although I know every day seems to drag when you're TTC).

atomant you use either 10 or 20 sticks each cycle. On the first cycle you start using them on day 6 so I suppose if you have had your 2 peaks and high day within the first 10 days then you would just use the 10, if not it will keep asking until you use all 29. The CBFM then starts to 'learn' your cycle so I think will then just ask for the sticks around the time you had highs/peaks last time so hopefully you'd only use 10 sticks a cycle. Does that make sense?!

JNO18 · 27/11/2011 09:59

I'm mulling over it too. I've got a docs appt on 15th Dec because I'm not sure I'm ovulating. I've been using some cheapie sticks so that might be the trouble but my cm doesn't seem to be changing anymore either. Is it worth me investing in a CBFM? Or should I just wait to see the docs? Part of me just wants to feel like I'm actively doing something and have a bit of control over the process. Any thoughts? x

Atomant · 27/11/2011 09:13

Not quite joining yet, just mulling over whether to buy one or not (it's in my basket on amazon & I'm about to hit purchase!) Been TTC %232 for 6 months & I feel it's time to try & take a bit more control of things. Can I ask without derailing your thread, how often do you buy the sticks?
TIA

Chocchip88 · 27/11/2011 07:34

Hi All!
loulou I got my first high on day 9 but didn't get a peak until day 18. Some people have highs the whole cycle, no peaks, some straight from low to peak. There doesn't seem to be much pattern.

louloubellamozzarella · 26/11/2011 23:00

Hello egg! Nice to see another June-July-August-2012 flier in here :) You can start the monitor on day 1-5 (or is it up to 6?) of your cycle - doesn't have to be the first AF day but you need to set up what number day it is so that the clever thing knows to ask you to POAOS on day 6.

I'm on CD 11 currently, still getting low readings. As a quick straw poll, when did/do you ladies normally get a high/ovulation reading? I know cycles differ a lot - just interested in seeing how much ov varies really :)

JNO18 · 26/11/2011 22:47

Can I join the party ladies? AF has just arrived. This was our 7th month ttc%231. So if I buy a CBFM now will I not be able to use it until my next cycle? What happens if you don't start charting with it on day 1?

HettyTurner · 26/11/2011 21:29

I can now add in when AF is due, yay!

HettyTurner · 26/11/2011 21:26

Still no AF for me and BFN (even though I know I completely missed ov - I'm actually mental). So I'm taking progesterone tablets so I can start clomid next cycle and then (fingers and toes crossed) I'll ov and get a peak and we won't miss it and I'll have a fab new year's pressies.

I quite fancy a September baby Grin

eggandtoastedsoldiers · 26/11/2011 19:10

Can I join in? I was reading online that you start the first day of your af so will begin next month with the cbfm. No luck after trying for a year, hope this helps

Chocchip88 · 26/11/2011 18:44

Welcome zara! I think unless there are issues with a low sperm count then doing it as often as possible is the way forward! Enjoy!

Zara1984 · 26/11/2011 18:09

Hello again everyone! So excited - got my CBFM in the post last week from Amazon AND DH and I have decided to move up TTC#1 to next month! AF is due on the 9th so my bonkometer is not getting a trial run - it's going to have t hit the ground running and help get me updiffed!

Question - are you meant to have sex every day (or even 2x a day, morning and evening!) you get high/peak? Or does that wear out the sperm supply???

Chocchip88 · 26/11/2011 08:52

pupcake I'm sorry, it's so frustrating.

letting BFN is big fat negative and BFP is big fat positive ie positive or negative pregnancy test.

pupcake that makes sense with ovulation.

Now have 2ww stretching out in front of me. Must keep busy!

lettingitallgonow · 26/11/2011 08:38

What dies bfp and bfn stand for??

lettingitallgonow · 26/11/2011 08:26

Could you jump from 1 bar yesterday to the full 3 bar, start getting jiggy, the following day?

iloveberries · 25/11/2011 21:36

oh pupcake that is shit.

gutted for you :(

CD5 here - no news.

just keeping my place with you lovely ladies

pupcake · 25/11/2011 19:31

OH, and I tested yesterday and today, and BFN.

pupcake · 25/11/2011 19:31

letting that sounds exactly right - glad it is working properly now!

secret too much!!

chocchip how has all the "bonking" been going?? Grin To answer your question, I know FF says most women ovulate on the 2nd peak day, but some women also ovulate on the day they see their first peak. This makes sense because a peak reading is determined by the CBFM detecting the LH surge, and surging LH might be detected on it's way up, midway through, or on it's way down. So, if you start to surge in the afternoon on CD 14 for example (and therefore the CBFM didn't have an opportunity to pick it up that morning) and your CBFM picks it up the following morning on CD 15, you might O on CD 15 (your first peak) rather than CD 16 (second peak). Does that make sense? That's why it's also good to cross correlate with CM and temperature.

So thank you all very much for all your good luck wishes, but I think I'm out this cycle. Boo. My temps are still up (strange), but I started spotting yesterday at 11 DPO, and am spotting more today. I am just waiting for red flow to start before I officially call it CD 1 today. Onto the next month!

lettingitallgonow · 25/11/2011 14:03

Yay it asked me to test this morning :)

And yet another stupid questions ;) once it's read the stick does your machine turn it's self off (it was after about 5 minutes)? Once I took the stick out and turned it back on again it didn't ask me to do a stick again so it must have read it and it was telling me I was 'low'

Is this right?

iloveberries · 25/11/2011 08:11

Good luck chocchip x

Chocchip88 · 24/11/2011 17:37

Ok thanks. So tonight, tomorrow and Sat? Good grief I better get a BFP this month!

iloveberries · 24/11/2011 15:46

it means you're about to - i think between 24 - 36 hours so i would dtd on both your peaks and the day after (if you and DH can manage!!)

best of british ;)

OP posts:
Chocchip88 · 24/11/2011 12:33

That explains it letting, hopefully it will ask you soon and hopefully your cycle fits in with the other woman's!
Bonkometer will be obeyed tonight! Does the peak mean I am ovulating today or that I'm about to ovulate?

lettingitallgonow · 24/11/2011 11:44

Oh crappy sticks!!! I bought the 'bonkometer' (ace name btw) second hand and haven't re-booted it. Just switched it on and pressed the 'm' button when AF arrived :S (the batteries were out so presumed it would be ok)

I now find out I have to 'hard reboot' it by pressing and holding the 'm' button until it completely resests.. It now looks like it thinks i'm the 'other woman' (giggle) and hasn't asked me to test on day 6..

I'm off to buy some ovulation sticks in the meantime, but I'll keep looking and test when it asks me to test.. Bloody flipping modern technology - looks like the 'bonking' is the easy part :D
