Hello - after a while of TTC with nothing but a chemical pregnancy I have purchased myself a shiny new CBFM in the hope it will make things a bit less stressful. I was an advocate of just having SWI everyother day but in reality that it quite a lot for me and DH and the poor thing works very long hours so not always possible.

I'm starting this thread for anyone else who's started TTC using the CBFM in the hope we can give eachother a little support etc.....

I'm on day 5 today so think i have to start POAS tomorrow......

Anyone out there who wants to join the journey?!!

Welcome Atomant - yes it's very exciting to get the shiny new CBFM!! It's my first cycle using it, day 3 POAS for me today .

I had the same question re Day 1 of cycle. As far as I can tell from searches on MN threads, and by reading the manual carefully:

  • if AF starts in the night/before your CBFM setting time (eg 8am), then that day is day 1.
  • if AF starts after your CBFM setting time, then TOMORROW MORNING you set as Day 1. This is what I did - my AF started at about morning tea time, and my CBFM setting time was going to be 8am. I therefore set the following day as Day 1 on the monitor.

I would probably count spotting as the start of flow, and start my time calculations from then, taking into account the above. The CBFM will ask for first stick on Day 6, and after that it's reading the hormones in your wee so you're fine!

Hope that helps... please correct me if I'm wrong, more experienced users!

Hi CBFM arrived this week. Here's my first idiot question (there will be many more!) it's a fundamental question : first day of cycle = first day of AF in full flow I.e not spotting is that correct?
You're starting to get an insight as to one of the reasons why we've not conceived yet Wink

HettyTurner · 11/12/2011 21:19

The peaks mean you will oulate 24-48hrs later, so you may not have ov'd until CD15 so it will be too soon for FF to show it (3 days of higher temps). If you want you can change the interpreatation method to monitor and it will recognise it as soon as you get peaks.

I'm not sure if I believe the peak I got today, CP isn't fertile and no fertile CM, and a neg opk this afternoon. It does say in the cloimid instructions not to test too soon as you can get a false positive and I'm wondering if that's what's happened.

If it detected the tail end of my peak this morning that would explain the negative OPK this afternoon, but surely I wouldn't have already ov'd to explain the other signs???

Hi

This is my first cycle using CBFM and my 2nd cycle charting. I have very erratic periods and not sure really what my body is doing Confused.

The monitor was 2nd hand but removed batteries and reset etc but now I am very confused. I had highs on CD11 & 12; Peaks on CD13 & 14; high on CD15 and back to lows, however my charting hasn't detected ovulation at all. There have been days when I haven't done temp in correct time slot (sometimes 1/2 hour out) but not sure whether that would impact on chart this much?

Your views appreciated!! :)

Secret doesn't look like it will happen this month then, but apparently quite common so as long as you're SWI throughout your highs hopefully you'll have covered the right time anyway. Think it will keep asking you to POAS until all 20 are used now, annoying!

JNO18 · 11/12/2011 11:09

I had my first peak this morning! On day 15 after only 2 days of peak on day 13 and 14. Exciting!

iloveberries · 11/12/2011 10:57

a BFP would be the most amazing christmas present ever!

I wish every 2ww was the run up to christmas - it's much easier to be happy!

I just got peak! How exciting!! And according to FF I'll be able to test boxing day, but I might have to do it on christmas morning...

MrsHerculePoirot · 10/12/2011 23:05

Oooh exciting! I had my first high today, day 9...

HettyTurner · 10/12/2011 16:02

on CD8 and got my first high this morning, seem a bit early but other symptoms are matching and I could ov as early as CD11 with the clomid so we're starting SWI EOD. I also bought some ov test sticks to test in the afternoons just to make sure the monitor doesn't miss it somehow, esp as not temping this month. I feel much more relaxed about it all at the moment.

FX to all 2wwers x x

Chocchip88 · 09/12/2011 21:29

Of course mrsherculepoirot I don't have the exact data to hand but I had highs from day 9 until I think day 18 then my peak, followed by the usual second peak and final high. We dtd every other day which included first peak and final high. That's it! No magic tricks just very very lucky!

MrsHerculePoirot · 09/12/2011 20:26

Congrats choc! You have made me feel positive again. I reset my monitor for this month as never got peak last month - I think due to out if date sticks from mix of two packets. If you don't mind me asking can you share when you DTD in relation to highs and peaks?

Chocchip88 · 09/12/2011 17:51

Just to let you know Clearblue Digital agreed with the Tesco cheapies! And perhaps more importantly they're currently reduced in Asda!

iloveberries · 09/12/2011 17:17

yep nearly that's what i'm doing.
i am fully expecting BFN though as been so stressed for months now that think that's what's stopping me :(

choc try not to worry all will be fine I'm sure.

secret and ilove I also have a big night out planned for 2 nights before AF due. So will pleased if I can drink, so either way it'll be good. I have cheapo sensitive tests from internet, am planning on poas on that day to see whether I can drink or not. does that sound ok?

iloveberries · 08/12/2011 20:06

choc - i am sure it will be fine...
it's not a false positive. I think what secret and i had are referred to as chemical pregnancies. So basically you are pregnant but you lose it very early. Don't worry about this happening to you though. Enjoy these early days before the morning sickness kicks in!!

secret - it's good we both have big nights planned on the AF due date! Makes it slightly bearable doesn't it!

loulou - big boobs definitely a symptom. eeeeekkkk!!! (no skimpy bridesmaid dress for you!) FX hun

I have had problems with the clear blue non digital ones, control line never comes up or there's just do much blue in the window I don't know what I'm looking at! The Tesco ones I used were pink, line was faint both times but def there.
Think AF would be due today or tomorrow so might invest in a digital. Do you think it would be better to test with the digital in the morning, or do you think it work now, am 13 or 14dpo.

I didn't think you could get a false positive? Worry worry worry

louloubellamozzarella · 08/12/2011 14:19

Maisie I think I remember reading that you're meant to use the sticks from only one pack for each cycle but I can't see why that would be - other than to line CB's pockets further! I need to look into getting some more sticks as I'll have used a full pack this month :( - forgot how expensive they are!

I'm in my 2ww now - well 1 and a bit ww as I'm due Tuesday.... only symptoms are big, sore boobs but trying not to think too much about things before AF arrives/I POAS. berries I feel your pain - I'm focusing on Christmas instead and getting a little obsessed with that!

Maisie55 · 08/12/2011 13:56

Hi all, been hiding for a while as AF got me on Sunday on CD26, was so gutted as normally have 38 day cycles so just didnt understand at all, also means I only had LP of 10 days if CBFM was right and I did ov on the peak day 16/17.

Anyway, I am back to positive thinking again and wondered if anyone knew whether its ok to use up old sticks if my new ones dont arrive in time or if that is bad?

oh secret i hate doing the early testing as the last time i did it i got 2 lines and then 4 days later only one line then AF :(

Actually I lie, i did early test last month as i was convinced i was PG.... obviously i wasn't though....

If I got my 1st peak on day 15 i guess i would ov on day 15 or 16 so should be able to get an accurate result on a test on day 30? do you think that sounds right? That takes me to Tues 20th dec but i have a big night out on the sat before so i may test then as if BFN i can drown my sorrows!!

what about you?
