so my appointment came through for the 22nd December. Mm. I don't have babies (hence the lap) and we are spending Xmas with my mum. Will it make Christmas miserable? I've searched for a few old threads but would be nice to hear from people who have had this done in terms of how long you feel crap for and if ill fancy my Christmas dinner!

I am almost phobically scared of hospitals but even more scared of finding out I have blocked tubes. I'm a great wife at the moment.

Hi, just thought I'd resurrect this thread seeing as I found out yesterday I'm having a lap&dye. The consultant wants to have a good look around and said they will try to fix anything they come across. I'm excited that this could sort us out properly but scared that it may also mean that they find something unfixable or more serious or completely blocked tubes which mean I'll never stand a chance of a natural pg.! Whereismywine how have you got on since yours?

FairyonthetreeG · 23/12/2011 20:58

I guess I should count myself really luck then! Best of luck for you & hope that the cons can get it all sorted really. I've hardly bled too but there woudn't have been much in there as I've just had AF!

Keep me posted how you're doing!

whereismywine · 23/12/2011 08:11

You could peek on our thread. They found a large fibroid occupying the majority of my womb. They seem pretty sure it would make implantation very difficult Sad bigger op mentioned but need to see consultant in Jan. I has bizarre dreams last night and did a lot of shouting apparently. My cut is the worst bit. Throbbing! But trapped gas has only been minimal really. LOADS of bleeding, quite a shocking amount but they said that was from poking the fibroid. Happy times!

Thats exactly how I am!!! I'm way past 10 months so wouldn't be on there Xmas Smile
Can move a lot more this morning but it's still my belly button that hurts the most! I'm sleeping lots - in bursts really! Not too gassy either.

whereismywine · 22/12/2011 19:38

Hey! I'm very sore and rather shook up. If you check the ttc 10 months thread I did an update. Think it's going to be a while before I get me a bun in the oven Sad bur glad you're ok. My belly button is sore and I look a out 4 months pregnant!

OP posts:
FairyonthetreeG · 22/12/2011 07:57

Good luck today WIMW
I'm ok, sore round the belly button & bloated. Everything clear but left tube has a slight kink in it - not impossible to get pg but slightly harder.

Now Santa needs to bring me a BFP!

FairyonthetreeG · 17/12/2011 10:01

Anyone updated on this yet??? Mine is on Wed!!!!! Xmas Shock

Fairygodmother1 · 18/11/2011 14:57

GK I've given me hope as been TTC 4 years now so I'm sure if it takes another year I know I'm not the only one in that boat! Sorry to hear no more. I have bad periods with pain but HYCOSY showed my tubes to be clear so if I do have endo, it's only in womb. I've also got a tilted womb so have been told that that can cause the pain too!

Totally agree WIMW I'd give anything for 1!!

whereismywine · 17/11/2011 21:18

Thanks for this gk sorry to hear your tubes got all bungled up but hurray for your little one. I always wanted at least two or three babies but now, I'd give anything for just one. I think? Or maybe it isn't really like that. I'm also resigned to this taking a long time. I'm scared to find out but I also just want to know what's going on. I will keep this thread bobbing along after the lap for an update.

where- I had bad pains when I was younger, but wasnt so bad later. I had lots of endo in my tubes apparently, and they can only get the bits at the womb end IYKWIM. So they were stiil in v bad shape after op- but DP had a good sperm count and it just shows- half a tube is enough to get you pregnant- make the most of those months afterwards!

After the op my periods were much better. But after I had DS, my tubes got completely blocked by the endo. So no more babies here Sad. But at least I got one, so I'm not complaining. Good luck to you. I waited 5 years for my son, hope you get lucky- report back eh? Grin

Fairygodmother1 · 15/11/2011 18:20

Thanks WIMW - yes In have fond memories of 12 months (like when you talk about being 18 or something when you've waited this long). 12 Months was when we had our first app with fertility cons & I found out I had PCOS. My HYCOSY said tubes were clear so if there is a problem then it's more to do with the lining now I suppose. Cons did say it's like having a spring clean! lol. Mum suffered from Endo - but she had us 3 fine & a hysto when I was 8 so she didn't have any more painful periods. Apparently she always suffered with it & told to have a baby to clear it. I was first & didn't solve it! Funnily enough I've also been told that my PCOS might right itself once I have one - well see, won't hold my breath!

I also get really bad periods but that has only happened since TTC. Wasn't due to coming off the pill as I had already stopped that 2 years before TTC & meeting DH. I stopped taking it as it was giving me major headaches, mood swings & my blood sugars were all over the place. Now know that it must have been when the PCOS kicked in! The pain can be awful, very clotty (sorry for TMI) & heavy for 2-3 days.

Thanks Glitter will do! Thanks for the advice

whereismywine · 15/11/2011 17:44

Thanks glitter kitty I do wonder if they'll find endo, I get bad pains and ibs...and spotting before my period. Did you have any inkling that you had it?

OP posts:
GlitterKitty · 15/11/2011 17:34

I had this for fertility- had endo in my tubes (and everywhere really!) - they removed what they could during the op and said sorry... only half a tube working- I was Shock.

Consultant said I had about a 10% chance of getting pg naturally and put me on the IVF waiting list.

However... I was pg 6 weeks later Grin - the op increases your chances of getting pg for 3 or so months or so after it, and I got lucky! Have as much sex as you can afterwards is my advice! Grin

whereismywine · 15/11/2011 17:28

fairy sorry it's taking you so long, 12 months feels like ages so you must be feeling really frustrated. I hope the lap and dye does the trick for you. Who knew it would be so hard!! Let's keep each other posted x

4 years!!! Had 6 months of clomid 2 years ago & nothing happened although did ovulate. Told I'd be offered IVF - refused as too heavy. Put on metformin last year, lost weight (not loads but enough to keep cons happy so far). Went for cons app about 8 months ago to be told that I'd be given met & clomid together if wasn't pg by sept & sent for more scans to check my PCOS. Went back in Sept to see head cons who said that the mets had removed my cysts & that I had a follicle at the time big enough to suggest I was ovulating. So put on Clomid just to give ovaries a boost & Lap & dye to flush my system out! Have had HYCOSY in past. Blood tests this month have again said I'm ovulating but I'm still not PG!!! Just don't know what to do anymore. I'm someone who never gives up but I feel like I don't know what else to do. Been thinking about trying accupuncture again!!!

whereismywine · 15/11/2011 07:55

I also hate ops. Been ttc 12 months now - how about you?

OP posts:
Fairygodmother1 · 14/11/2011 20:03

LOL, we can share out experiences together. I'm so not good on GA or having drips in my arm/hand as i hate needles. Am dreading it!!!! But if I get PG from it I'll be sooo happy & it'll be worth it!

whereismywine · 14/11/2011 19:59

We can be lap and dye buddies! X

OP posts:
Fairygodmother1 · 14/11/2011 19:32

I did come on today!!! Found out I did ovulate but somehow missed it! Got the date of my lap & dye - 21st Dec so I'll be putting my feet up this xmas!

Fairygodmother1 · 13/11/2011 16:12

Thanks WIMW - will update tomorrow when I have more news. Looks like I've a 31/32 cycle this month. today is CD30 & I've just had some brownish discharge so think thats me out this month. Could mean next month is the one!!!

whereismywine · 13/11/2011 12:39

Also, seen as this thread is up and about today, did anyone have a lap and dye for fertility where endo was found? Did they remove it, or is it far more complicated than that?

OP posts:
whereismywine · 13/11/2011 12:38

Hi fairy how frustrating for you, hope it gets sorted soon. Oddly, I had my pre-op last week for an op late December. They did pregnancy test?? I'm praying to the pregnancy fairy that this cycle we manage it to avoid the whole gassy Xmas scenario!

OP posts:
Fairygodmother1 · 13/11/2011 09:29

Hi ya,

Well I've finally heard from my hospital 2 months after my initial visit saying they've been trying to contact me & can't leave a message on the only number they have for me & if I don't reply in 5 working days they'll remove me from the list. Know this to be lies. When I phoned back it too 3 hours to speak to someone to fing that the co-ordinator wasn't even working that day. When the person who answered the phone checked my details they have both my home & mobile number!!! Both of which have working answering machines. Anyway this lady has left the co-ordinator a message to call me back but why the co-ordinator is phoning me is to find out when the beginning of my cycle is...how long's a piece of string???? They need this information to determine when I'm ovuating...am I?

It makes you laugh at times doesn't it?

whereismywine · 27/10/2011 17:43

Hi everyone, thanks so very much for the advice. On phone so won't namedrop but will revisit later. I went for hycosy on 9th oct after initial visit in mid august. That failed because they couldn't get the catheter in through my cervix, lap suggested (I'm annoyed by this as I would like another go at hycosy at better point in my cycle not cd 20) and it came through a month later. I feel very pleased at how fast it's all been. Did look into private hycosy to avoid GA but it was £600!

Definitely get some peppermint tea or cordial in for after the op, the trapped gas can be really painful, especially in your shoulders.

I've had 4 laps and the recovery has been pretty much the same each time. It was painful for a good couple of days afterwards and a good week before I felt completely back to normal. The scars themselves weren't too sore, it was more what had gone on inside of me. I just felt very bruised inside.

However, on each lap they had been looking for endo so had had a good rummage about. Never had dye done so that may be less pulling around of your insides.

I would imagine that just before Christmas is fairly good timing. The GA should be out of your system by then, the gas should be gone and although you may still be feeling sore, at least you can put your feet up and be pampered :)

Good luck, hope it's good news for you.
