Here we go yet again...

I agree with generic about lying Internet cheapies!

Hope you're feeling better this afternoon maybe? I feel rough

possiblemaybebaby · 26/10/2011 14:48

I can also recommend the Asda own tests too, v cheap, and a clear cut yes or no!

Go Scrambled Grin I love a good argument!

ScrambledSmegs · 26/10/2011 14:45

Thanks all. I don't have a superdrug nearby, sadly. I'll see what offers they have on pee sticks in the supermarket on Friday. Either that or I'll go to the pound shop and buy theirs!

Just got involved on an AIBU thread. My phone doesn't hide that topic. Just can't stop myself when people start cyclist-bashing with incorrect information. It's like a compulsion Blush.

possiblemaybebaby · 26/10/2011 14:31

Scrambled the one thing against the CB digis is that they aren't as sensitive. So you would be better off waiting a few more days maybe to let the HCG build up in your system forst. Also, I have had rubbish experiences with the +/- CB ones, bad false positives.

I always hear good things about superdrug ones, though I have never used them myself

shinyblackgrape · 26/10/2011 13:17

I think I wuv you Littlefriend - thank you

I am now starting to feel a little bit AFish now but we shall wait and see. No PMT so that is good though - at least for DH grin

Imps - I forgot to say earlier that I am loving your masterful plan re the redundancy. Just for extra giggles, can you not dispute the pooling too and don't forget the scoring either......

GenericDietCola · 26/10/2011 13:15

Scrambled just don't get the Amazon cheapies - they're crap and they lie to you when you're clearly pregnant!

I wouldn't get a CBD as they're so expensive and the adverts with the smug woman really annoy me. I've used the Superdrug and Boots own ones before and found them easy to use. The Superdrug ones in particular get good reviews as they have pink dye (less chance of an evap line I think) and are sensitive.

TheLittleFriend · 26/10/2011 13:10

Scrambled I agree that cb digitals are good as you don't have to decide whether you can see a line or not, but they are expensive. First response are also good, because it seems very obvious if there is no second line. (I know that is not what we want, but there is nothing worse than getting your hopes up over an evaporation line)

Shiny please don't think you are out of the running yet. There are so many stories on the conception forum of women who had a bfn at this point, but went on to get a bfp later.

musicalmrs · 26/10/2011 12:13

I found CB digital very reassuring Scrambled. I never truly trust my judgement with lines! I've also heard that they're pretty accurate...

Hope you feel better soon Cake. I think it's very important to follow Dr Smegs' prescriptions.

ScrambledSmegs · 26/10/2011 12:08

shiny obviously too early!

AF is due today for me, but I've been maxxing out the B vits and that could be why I'm late. Just for fun, what test should I get? I used CB digital in the past as you don't get the whole 'is it a line' drama with it. Help me, pee-stick gurus, please!

ScrambledSmegs · 26/10/2011 12:02

Ooh maybe that's what my temps did too! Interesting...

Hope you feel better soon, Cake. Dr Smegs prescribes chocolate, snuggling on the sofa in pj's and watching rubbish tv Grin.

at Scarlett. 15 weeks? Shock.

CakePigeon · 26/10/2011 11:20

shiny don't be too sad it is very early still. I know the pale space next to the control line can be pretty soul-sapping though!

I know maybe I'm at work too Sad hope you feel better soon! Shame we are quite far from the weekend

possiblemaybebaby · 26/10/2011 11:10

Oh, and Scarlet 15 weeks already!! Where has that gone? Hope you are very well x

possiblemaybebaby · 26/10/2011 11:10

Thanks for the advice Stasi Cake and Solars. Positive OPK was last Tuesday. Grin ar proceeding with caution Stasi I know exactly what you mean. That's why I thought I would ask you sage ladies instead [gein]

It's obviously just too early Shiny you will get that BFP before long

Oh Cake illness sucks doesn't it. I would so muh rather be at home right not with hot chocolate, but am stuck at work instead Sad

Stasi · 26/10/2011 10:59

Maybe the only thing I've learned for sure about temping is that it's low pre-ov, high after, then drops when AF starts.

Everything else is just a maybe symptom, like sore boobs, the dip could have been an implantation dip (and fingers crossed it is!), but it might also just have been colder last night (for example). Fertility Friend has charts that you can view of other people I think, so you can look at the charts of people the month they got pg and compare them to yours. I think that way may lie madness though, so proceed with caution.

Shiny I've beat myself into submission as far as most of your points go. Though I do still like to look at baby clothes and prams and fantasise about actually having a reason to buy them. You know, I already own loads of baby clothes, a rocking chair, car seat and I think 3 pushchairs... my sister saved them all for me when she had my nephew (now nearly 3 years old). Back in those days I was still trying to convince the OH having babies young was a good idea.

Scarlet welcome back, and glad you found us! Ideally there would have been a post on the last thread directing people here, but I think we filled it up too quick and just didn't notice!

OP posts:
shinyblackgrape · 26/10/2011 10:58

Solars - I was

However, I just couldn't wait. I had done some internet cheapies which were negative but I thought if I did the First Response today that would be better than continuing to get really excited til Friday.

Period is due either Sat or Sunday. Have a fairly regular cycle but it was pushed out a bit by the wedding. Last two AF should have started on the Saturday but started on the Monday and (very late) on the Sunday night so counting Monday as the first day. I had a positive OPK on both the Friday and the Saturday and think I ov'ed on the Saturday night so expecting AF basically between the Saturday and Monday.

I don't think that is too early-ish for the First Response (?) so am working on basis that BFP is correct. I have had nothing on the internet cheapies wither and they are meant to be 10miu too so even more sensitive that First Response

CakePigeon · 26/10/2011 10:51

maybe one word - triphastc!!!

Also thank you for hot chocolate its just what I need feeling weepy!

My temp is over 99 today but I think it's because I'm poorly!

Solars · 26/10/2011 10:40

Shiny you're still quite early aren't you? weren't you meant to be testing on friday?

Solars · 26/10/2011 10:38

hey Generic hope you're ok x

Oh yes & Scrambled looking forward to your confirmation at the end of the week.

Maybe I don't temp so hope someone can give you some advice but could it be an implantation dip???? when did you get your positive opk?

shinyblackgrape · 26/10/2011 10:38
GenericDietCola · 26/10/2011 10:33

Ooh Solars ta for cookies - yum.

Solars · 26/10/2011 10:31

Oh no Cake & Generic so sorry to hear about bfn but just to echo what someone else has said if af still hasn't arrived then you're still both in with a chance

haha Stasi & Beedle I've obviously still not learned from my first cycle Blush

scarletfingernail · 26/10/2011 10:29

Only just found you. I thought you'd all been a bit quiet and I've only just seen that the previous thread was full...

Not had time to read but will go back and catch up later.

Just wanted to say to Farfalla I also have a tilted uterus. As has my mum and my nan. It hasn't caused any fertility problems for any of us, I think it's very common so no need to worry about that.

Hello to all newcomers (will catch up with names when I read through later)

Boo to AF Cake, and Generic I still have my fingers crossed for you. It ain't over yet.

All good with me, will be 15 weeks on Friday Smile

GenericDietCola · 26/10/2011 10:23

Oh crikey Beedle I'm terrible for doing that! If I'd been pregnant this time, I might have had my scan just before Christmas but I certainly did not have any fantasies about announcing it to the family over Christmas lunch, oh no.

possiblemaybebaby · 26/10/2011 10:21

Oh Shiny sorry about the BFN. It isn't over yet, but your list of things you have learn't made me Grin We have all been there and done that (of course, now we are all so wise, we would never consider doing any of those things now Wink )

Cake sorry about the BFN. Chocolate is definitely the way forward

Can I ask you wise ladies a temping question? In an ideal world, what exactly is your temp meant to do? Grin Since my positive OPK, it has gone up every day, then dipped yesterdayand is now going up again

BeedleTheBard · 26/10/2011 10:12

shiny here's some more things not to do:

  1. Work out when you'll be having your 12 week scan
  2. work out how pregnant you'll be at Xmas
  3. Work out when you'll be able to start maternity leave

obviously I've never done any of these
