shiny pcos causes high levels of LH which is the hormone that preceed ovulation and what ov prediction kits pick up, so you can get false readings of ovulation surges. However, HCG which is the hormone that pregnancy tests pick up is ONLY ever produced in pregnancy I believe so its very very rare to get a false positive unless there is some fault with the test (clear blue non digital for example have some dye leak issue apparently)

Ooh, snakes! I used to have a bit of snakeskin I was given as a reward for holdling a small massive snake at a 'meet the scary bastards' event at a zoo when I was about 10. At least, I think it was called that. I held a tarantula too. It was furry but cold Confused.

Envy of everyone with pets. DH is scared of animals and I'm not allowed Sad. Although DD loves dogs and he can't refuse her anything, so I reckon when she's old enough I'll prime her to emotionally blackmail him!

Still no AF. Re-tested temp and has gone up to 37.12 (is that reliable?). Feel a tiny bit AF-y at times, but I don't know if it's real or psychosomatic. Anyway, I've decided I'm pg. If I believe it , it will be true

stasi what snake do you have? we have a childrens python. He's very good natured. He may need to be rehomed soon though as he's not getting quite enough attention.
popcorn I would love to have chickens too although our garden is not big enough and there are masses of foxes round here too. If I had room I'd have ducks too.

generic glad to hear your LP is longer, that has to be a thing to celebrate.

I think I just hate FR as got the BFN from them. Booooo!

Will only be breaking them out again if AF not turned up on Monday am. Will be keeping to the internet cheapies til then. God knows why though - I know the answer!

As far as I am aware, PCOS sufferers can hight levels of LH, which can confuse OPK but not pregnancy tests, which only measure HCG, so shouldn't cause false positives in that sense.

I always think the pink dye ones are better, less confusion Grin

Morning All

Well, I had 4 cocktails last night and am paying for it today! Can I join the queue of the walking wounded please? However, all of my sickness is my fault though!

Not much other news to report her. Feel a bit AF-ish so think it might start on Saturday/Sunday. That's fine as think I ov-ed on the Sat night.

Will start temping and Persona (keen new girl emoticon!) on CD1.

Far - that is very interesting re the First Response. That is veeeeeerrryyy sensitive. That must cause problems with people with PCOS as I understand that they have higher than usual levels of hormone the tests are testing for and it can be around 5miu. No wonder there are so many false positive - that seems cruel that FR don't have to make that clear in the leaflet in the box can you tell who has been poring over that !

Imps - I'm snurking away at your posts re the redundancy (in a sympathetic way, of course!). I'm sure you're going to enquire as to whether a review getting rid of any deadweight partners has been undertaken/considered?!

They used to, when they were young ladies - 1 each a day in summer, slightly less in Winter. Now they're sort of in their retirement though, so we only get 1 a day (between 4 hens). There's only me and DH though so it's still plenty.

When one died a few years ago, DH got a handmade condolances card from all the kids at his workplace! It was rather sweet :O)

I want chickens, I think they're awesome, and love the idea of 'home grown' fresh eggs. We've got a small garden though, and OH won't let me have any more pets until we move house. That's not currently being planned for, so it'll be a while! I'd also like a puppy, guinea pigs, tortoise, rats..

I do have tropical fish, 2 cats and a snake, so I'm doing ok on the pet front really.

Ah, Chickens! Amazing. Do they lay you lots of eggs?

My cat stayed with my mum and dad when I moved out years ago, but at the moment we have 2 rabbits, and are picking up our puppy on Saturday, so it's going to be interesting. Our rabbits aren'e exactly the friendliest....

Hee hee hee! One of ours runs upstairs and hides under the bed when the phone goes! I luff cats :O)

We also have chickens, and when I'm in the kitchen and sneeze I hear a panicked "bok bok bok!" from the garden ;)

There is no way this cat will handle an inhaler. We call him our "special needs" cat, as he's not very intelligent (has actually jumped at his own shadow) and also very, very nervous. If you so much as sneeze he bounces off the walls trying to get away. Then a minute later comes back and miaows to ask to get back on the nice warm lap.

We turned down the inhaler (knowing there's no way he'd submit to having it), and will just watch him to see if he looks like he needs any medication. They also offered us loads of x-rays and invasive tests, but the poor thing has been through enough. He's had many operations and hates vets, though he's sweet, and just looks very depressed and withdrawn as soon as you get him in the vets office.

We've just got to hoover more often, open the windows to let fresh air in, and watch and see try and see what sets him off. I think it's because we turned the central heating on recently. Just like having a child with asthma really.

Why is today going so slowly? Probably because I don't really have anything to do, and I am regretting not staying in my nice warm bed!

Omg I didn't know cats could get asthma! I think I'd get ripped to shreds if I tried to get mine to puff on an inhaler..... you are a braaaave woman....!

Muller congratulations! You should feel very lucky it happened so quickly for you. Hope everything goes well, and you have a nice, healthy and problem free pg.

Generic so sorry about AF getting you, but grats on the longer LP. Mine seems to be between 9 and 13 days.. I thought it was meant to be the same each month though? Last few cycles have been 9, 12, 12, 11, (not known), 13, 11.

Popcorn, Maybe, Imps (and any other ill people) get well soon!

Ninja I had a day like that on Monday, just as I was leaving the house for my doc appt the front door refused to lock! Luckily OH was still home so I made him late for work while waiting for me, and I had to phone in and beg a day working from home so we could get the door fixed and the house secure. £200, and close enough to the wedding and all associated costs that we felt that more than normal. Then the cat was ill and we had to take him to the vet that evening - another £60. Apparently he's asthmatic, the vet offered us a cat inhaler (I didn't even know they existed).

I took a day off of wedding planning last night and went out to see friends, but today I am tired, headache-y, and sneezing. Hope it's just a bad day, and not a cold. I've prescribed myself lots of (caffeine free) tea, and maybe a chocolate bar with lunch.

Popcorn you still feeling rough too? My cold won't actually come out, it is just sitting on my head and nose and chest. On the plus side, by temperature is giving me the rosiest cheeks, who needs blusher? I also felt v sick this morning. Clearly morning sickness and not Imps' bug.

How are you Far? Am I slightly weird in that I don't like my porridge cooked? Just the oats with the cold milk/yoghurt?
