Here we go yet again...

OP posts:
PopcornMouse · 02/11/2011 14:42

Ooo totally, far, I wonder if crossing your legs prior to ov time would have him begging at your feet?

PopcornMouse · 02/11/2011 14:42

far yes, you only know once you have ov'd, but I think (so far) I'm a pretty regular CD18, so all it does is confirm I have ov'd and then fuel my neuroticism for the remainder of the cycle :o

Ooo holiday sex, nom nom :D

farfallarocks · 02/11/2011 14:41

Thanks biscuits I do think the subtle seduction is more of a plan.

I think I might have to just drop it for now though and let him come to me IFSWIM!!

Yes, holiday should fall on critical dates, I am pinning my hopes on that!!!!

farfallarocks · 02/11/2011 14:38

popcorn I like the CBFM because I get the warning (NOT THAT IT MEANS ANYTHING IF DH REFUSES TO DO ME!)

I don't temp though as my understanding in that it does not tell you when you are about to OV but just that you have, is that right?

Once you have made the investment the sticks are cheaper than the smiley face ones (only if you buy them on amazon thoguh!!)

Biscuitsandtea · 02/11/2011 14:37

Ah I see (note to self - don't judge everyone by my own lame now non-existant sex life!)

Did you say you're on hols for the next crucial time? That should be good?

Hmm, thinking of ways....

What time does your DH get home? I know others have said that they've tried doing their SWI when DH gets home rather than at bedtime (i know my DH is terrible by bedtime and normally fast asleep on the couch)?

farfallarocks · 02/11/2011 14:36

I think it would add to the pressure sadly. He is defintiely of the 'lets just see what happens' view and I am not and I fine myself beginning to panic about it all.

I don't want TTC to put too much pressure on our marriage but got its tough, I feel eaten up by anger at him today, good job I am out tonight so I have a chance to calm down!

I think I need to talk to him about it when we are not in the heat of the moment so to speak! Thank you for the squishy hugs :)

PopcornMouse · 02/11/2011 14:35

far do you reckon CBFM are worth the cost over a thermometer and opks?

PopcornMouse · 02/11/2011 14:33

far it's clearly really stressing you out - understandably so - I'm really sorry :(

Is there any scope for DH arranging a few days off work for next month's shagathon if it's midweek? Or would that add to the pressure for him, do you think? You could make time to do fun stuff, too, of course (not that SWI isn't fun) - go out for the day or something?

farfallarocks · 02/11/2011 14:33

Ah biscuits that is not the problem sadly as we do have sex in the 2ww and its great. The problem is only at the weekends, we never have sex in the week, or lat least very rarely unless I tell him its fertile time.
He seems unable to man up and the more I pressurise him I imagine the worse it will be but at this rate I won;t conceive until 2015!!

BeedleTheBard · 02/11/2011 14:32

bean I forgot to say Happy Birthday Wine Thanks

Biscuitsandtea · 02/11/2011 14:30

Aww Farfalla :( you poor thing :(

I do really feel for you - we had the same thing often often often with DH too tired from working long hours etc but it being the time I needed him to man up and take one for the team.

Maybe you could spend some time in your 2ww having SFF to rekindle things. That would perhaps take the pressure off both of you? I know that IO never wanted to bother after ov as i'd had enough by then Blush but we had been ttc a LONG time, so maybe a few 'look, I'm not even ov'ing and I still fancy you rotten DH' bonks would be good?

PopcornMouse · 02/11/2011 14:29

:o @ bean, beedle & ninja

Totally not sharing (surely that would cause something of a reverse ironic bfp and I'd find myself barren for life?? :o ) but said list ranges from the mundane to the howwouldyouspellthat? :o

DH is going to be a tough cookie if-and-when it comes to discussing baby names. He thrives on run-of-the-mill, whereas I find the thought of picking something that a dozen other classmates will be named teethclenchingly awful (but that's likely because my name is oh-so common and at my one particular job I was the third popcorn in a company of 12).

farfallarocks · 02/11/2011 14:29

Oh for those that are interested, the CBFM detects the rise in oestrogen which in turns triggers the LH which then triggers ovulation. So you get a smiley face on teh sticks when LH is detected. The 'highs' on your CBFM detect rising oestrogen so I normally get between 1 and 5 days warning and it ties in with the EWCM normally as well!

Biscuitsandtea · 02/11/2011 14:26

In fact, I reckon DH comes up with more suggestions for it than I do! This is probably because I'm not an ideas person so, left to me, DS probably wouldn't have a name yet and he's 3!

farfallarocks · 02/11/2011 14:26

Morning all, very interesting about what your acupuncture lady said bean has made me rethink my attitude. P.S. I love prosecco it is my favourite drink!!

popcorn and imps I share your pain and so glad that your DH has turned a corner imps great tactics. Sadly last night went badly, thought I had managed to keep it cool and then he rejected my advances. I was just so cross and resentful about it. He says he is knackered during the week and just not up for it and hates the pressure of it all. I tried to be sympathetic and we dropped it but I am afraid I have woken up feeling so resentful and cross about it all. I barely looked at him this morning I just want him to man up a bit. He keeps sending me emails and I am ignoring him. Mature I know.

Got my smiley face and peak on the CBFM this morning so timing would have perfect. We are out now tonight and Thurs so another month gone and it makes me want to scream at him which is NOT productive.
musical its good that you got there in the end!!

Anyway, I sound like a stuck record so I shut about it and just hope that next month is better as we will be on holiday.

Welcome back cupcake, good to see you, how was your fanjo cam?
My appointment is tomorrow, very curious to hear what the consultant says and lay a plan of action.

little I have found the smiley faces just as if not more accurate than the CBFM its just that the monitor gives you a few days warning that you are going to get the OPK!

beedle and have very exciting news from you both, keeping all crossed!!

Biscuitsandtea · 02/11/2011 14:26

We had a list prior to getting pg this time. Although a lot of it was left overs from the list for DS. But we had discussed what our favourite names were for quite a long time, and how our preferences have changed over the time ttc.

beangrower · 02/11/2011 14:24

Oh dear - yes the LIST is never off my mind, particularly at CD26 when I am utterly convinced that I am of course totally preg. And Beedle - you are so right, DP has no ideas that the list exists. With middle names included. Blush

Biscuitsandtea · 02/11/2011 14:24

Popcorn, Little - I thought the CBFM was more like fancy OPKs? Whereby it tells you which days to wee on a highly priced stick and then detects the LH and something else surge, giving you low, high or peak readings?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEAN xxxx

NinjaChipmunk · 02/11/2011 14:22

Happy Birthday bean! Sounds like a lovely lunch, I do like a good steak
popcorn I have a list on my phone which has been there aaaaages. Do share...

beangrower · 02/11/2011 14:21

Hey little - hello from a newbie. I would give those OPK smiley faces a chance. I started using them about 5/6 months ago and though obviously I'm not up the stick yet I did find it reassuring to have a better sense of how my cycle works. I'm lucky that I'm pretty regular at around 26/27 days and get a smiley face d11/12/13 accordingly but that's not that I'm trying to sound smug - just that I think it really helps to know as much as one can about what's going on downstairs (if at all possible). I guess on the tougher side it could be disappointing to not get a smiley face - or in my case to realise that it doesn't actually mean I can get pregnant straight away, but hey there's pros and cons to all aspects of this TTC biz. HTH xxx

BeedleTheBard · 02/11/2011 14:19

popcorn I wouldn't go as far as a list, but I did read a book last year (just a normal book not a baby names book!!) that made me think if I have a girl I want to call her xxx. I've also thought about which names work in both our languages.

I haven't shared any of these thoughts with DP Blush

PopcornMouse · 02/11/2011 14:12

Does anyone else here (barring the preggoes :o ) already have a shortlist of names? DH is not involved in said mental shortlist, I should say - he is a "one step at a time" kind of man :o

little I understand CBFM is very similar to a basal thermometer but with more bells and whistles. Have you thought of temping for a bit?

beangrower · 02/11/2011 14:11

Hello lovely brookers

Just wanted to say thanks for the warm welcome yesterday - you guys really cheered me up and I feel like we can all chat freely here about the agonies of our TTC world without feeling like a stuck record. If I sound a bit gushy it's cause I'm slightly sloshed on my 40th birthday glass of prosecco (with a sirloin and veggies on the side). I even stretched to a follow-up GnT. I think it is literally years since I drank at lunchtime. My 40s are beginning to look appealing. Of course, these days a drink is a rare treat given the self-imposed TTC rules.

I can report that the sirloin has given me the impression that I'm preggers so if you ever want to know/remember how it feels to be about 18 weeks just tuck into 200gr of your favourite bit of cow (sorry veggies/pescarians).

Also - v sweetly, DP came along to meet acupuncturist today and is willing to try some herbs. The things our fellas do... So feel very blessed. Acupuncturist - a very cool lady called Mrs Wang who treated me in first pg and the last few months - sends a message to us all (well, I believe you might want to hear it): don't put your man under too much pressure. I shall be putting his slippers in front of the proverbial fire every evening from now on. She also said that a roll in the hay once in the TTC window is plenty, though I'm afraid I'm not willing to go along with that one!

Will actually read all your posts now!

xxx

Biscuitsandtea · 02/11/2011 13:30

little my apologies, I'm sorry we must have been through this before. Am I right in thinking you said you didn't want to go down the medical tests route yet? I might well be confusing you with someone else, and if that's the case I'm sorry! What does your acupuncturist think of it all?

Thanks Cupcakes Smile. I don't think we will find out the sex. We had a surprise with DS, well 2 surprises really (1 that he was a boy and the other that we couldn't get him out!! Grin).

A lot of the stuff we bought first time round was neutral, in terms of bouncy chairs, bedding etc because we knew we wanted another, so we're fine on that front. We have some neutral newborn clothes and if it isn't a boy I'll just send DH out on an emergency sleepsuit shopping trip (while I jump for joy at a future including all that girly shopping Wink).

That's not to say I'd prefer a girl or a boy, I just like shopping. Either way, this baby will be 6 mths out from DS so there will still be some shopping opportunities Smile)

TheLittleFriend · 02/11/2011 13:20

Yes biscuits, but i've never seen a positive one

I would love to give the CBFM a try, but after reading up about it, I don't think it would be worth it yet, as it seems you need cycles between 21- 42 days.

I think I might give one of the "smiley face" opk's a go though, so at least I don't have to interpret the results.
