The old thread seems to have run out of room... I'm hoping this works as a continuation...

Hi All, I'm back at home after a very long morning in the hospital. In for 8am but not in the surgery until 12.20. Very thirsty!
They only got 8 eggs so I'm feeling a little disappointed. They're talking ICSI which in my view isn't great, but I don't know all that much about it. Everything is crossed now that a good number fertilise tomorrow....
blacktreacle have you called your nurses? You may just be having a reaction to the drugs, but it's worth checking to find out.
I'm off to bond with the sofa & an episode of Glee before DH returns with DS.

Deep breath

Hello (waves)

Marking my place as we're about to start IVF in an attempt for DC2. Already got one lovely DS (17 months), and desperate for another. He was conceived via IVF so it gives me hope that it can work again. Just never spent this amount of money on what is essentially a gamble before (gulp).

Currently on CD2 so expecting to start downregging on the 26th. Already feeling nervous. I seem to have blanked the majority of our attempt to conceive DS1 from my memory.

May I ask which clinics you're going to? We're at Bourn Hall in Colchester (formerly ISIS).

Off to read all your posts with a Brew x

blacktreaclecat · 06/11/2011 21:45

Congratulations cloclo!
I'm told not to worry about spotting/ discharge unless it is bright red. I'm also panicking about constant light brown pessary gunk.

Cloclo15 · 06/11/2011 20:23

Hi all, I am sitting here absolutely terrified. After more pinky brown spotting today (a bit more than yesterday but less than a 50p piece) I was convinced it hadn't worked so decided to poas (first response) about an hour ago. My OTD is Wednesday morning which would be 16 days after EC. The result was a clear pink line, not quite as dark as the other one but nearly. In total shock but now very worried about what this spotting is and whether it means I am going to start AF. DH says the spotting is old because of it's colour but I'm not sure. It is very watery and there isn't much of it. I feel so on edge. Is this normal? It has been happening for 4 days, since 5dp5dt :/

FatimaLovesBread · 06/11/2011 17:48

Just wanted to check in and say hi.
We've got our NHS appointment tomorrow so we should find out how long a wait we've got. I'm also waiting to hear from our private clinic. Hopefully we should find out if they've found a recipient for my egg share this week

Pinkforboys · 06/11/2011 11:33

Thanks for all your nice msgs. I'm adamantly staying away from POAS #2 til Tuesday morning when I was supposed to test, but feeling very miserable in the meantime. I've gone from such certainty of a BFP to the opposite. I'm feeling classic pre-mens twisting of my innards. And the other 'symptoms' have just about disappeared.
This will be the most disappointing and expensive period I've ever had!

I'm sorry pink I hope it was just too early. I would try with FMU and a first response either tomorrow or Monday.
Mrsmiggins sorry about the cyst.

MrsMigginslovespies · 05/11/2011 20:36

Nope, not PCOS, just giant gross cysts that pop up and cause all sorts of problems. It's ultimately due to a cyst that exploded that's got me to IVF now.

Try again Pink and take care of yourself.

Watching Mad Men, have a good night all and enjoy the fireworks where you are.

bugsylugs · 05/11/2011 19:37

Pink definately could be cos too late in the day. tests should be done with first wee in am here is keeping fingers crossed. Try to be kind to yourself .

MrsMiggins good news re surgeons comments, sorry about the scan. Hope for better news next week

Cloclo15 · 05/11/2011 18:53

Sorry to hear your news Pink, please try to take care of yourself. Maybe worth another test in the morning?

MrsMiggins, sorry to hear about your scan, do you have PCOS? Fingers crossed it'll all be ok next week.

MrsMigginslovespies · 05/11/2011 17:29

Afternoon all. Hope everyone isn't too down and sad. Pink, sorry sorry to hear your news, but it's maybe too early? Really hope you're ok...

Self indulgent scan news: everything looked great until they moved across to look at the other ovary and found a lovely big cyst almost the same size as the ovary itself. Same old, same old... so I can't start stimming until at least next week now when they hope that it may have grimly drained itself of all the blood and we can try again. Sigh. Not sure what's going to happen if it's still there, however, but will make that cheery decision next week. On the plus side, the delay now means I can better recover from the root canal that I'm having done at great expense on Monday now, so every cloud! The other good bit of news I came away with was when I asked my surgeon about my AMH level that the nurse beforehand had been a bit despondant about, he was in fact very positive about it and said that his mother would have had that result too at my ancient age of 34 and that he in theory could get me preggers (iyswim!) with that level. So that was good!

Do hope everyone can stay positive over the next few days and manages to look after themselves.

Hugs to all, x

Pinkforboys · 05/11/2011 16:38

I foolishly POAS and got a N. Trying to convince myself that it was because i did it midday, not first thing, and HCG levels too diluted. Not supposed to do it til Tuesday, but I've did it on this day last time and it was positive.
Sad

Blacktreacle, I don't think for us IVF/ICSI ladies that pregnancy will ever be anything except stressful, even when you do get a BFP. I'm sure it's totally normal when you have gone through so much to get there.

Cloclo15 · 05/11/2011 16:09

Pink I've had some pinky brown spotting the last 3 days, ranging from a tiny spot to about the size of 50p worth. It could be so many things - I've read that as long as it isn't red you shouldn't worry, but that is easier said than done! How long before your OTD? DH won't let me POAS until a day before if that. I have a sinking feeling that AF will arrive before then, but I suppose at least it would be an answer either way. This whole process isn't a kind one is it?

blacktreaclecat · 05/11/2011 13:26

Hi I am ok very anxious though. I did another CBD this morning and got pregnant 2-3 whereas on Monday I got 1-2. So hcg has increased. No symptoms though. The constant brown does get me down but I think it must be from the pessaries irriating my cervix. I got to 13 weeks earlier in the year before we found the baby had t21 and was very poorly. I had brown discharge a lot then as well and a mc was not imminent.
I think being convinced it hasn't worked is normal whether it has worked or not.

Pinkforboys · 05/11/2011 11:21

My turn to be worried today. Having felt pretty confident that it had worked (sore boobs, disrupted nights, achey abdomen, feeling generally out of sorts...) I've had a bit of pink show today. I don't know if it's to do with all the Crinone- maybe causing some irritation, or if all my 'symptoms' are just from the Crinone and Oestrogen pills I'm on.
Meanwhile I'm feeling really edgy & shakey- like a kind of fear-driven adrenalin rush. I think I'm going to cave in and get a POAS. Though again, I don't know if the progesterone & oestrogen will affect the result. Anyone know??? Baah humbug.

Cloclo15 · 04/11/2011 18:05

I'm not sure - had a bit more pinky brown spotting this morning. I know spotting can be a sign of implantation but I would have thought 5/6 days post transfer would be a bit late for it?

However, I'm not feeling as down today. Being at work and teaching all day does wonders for my sanity. The kids make me forget all about it - it's the only time I do. I'm lucky I've been really enjoying my job this year.

Hope you are good blacktreacle?

blacktreaclecat · 04/11/2011 17:20

Hi I have brown discharge and have had it since 6dpt. I think it is implantation plus the pessaries irritate my cervical erosion.
My clinic said as long as it isn't red don't worry.
I think it could be a good sign

MrsMigginslovespies · 03/11/2011 20:53

Hugs from me too. You can get implantation bleeding at ironically the same time as a period (I understand), so it could be that too. Holding out hope and good vibes for you. There's always hope, so hang on to that thought!
On the subject of AF, mine is coming to a rapid end, so hope they'll be able still to see helpful stuff on my (not so yucky!) scan tomorrow. No idea what results to expect. Eek.

bugsylugs · 03/11/2011 19:43

Cloclo here's hoping for you and keeping fingers crossed and praying for a miracle. Hugs at this really stressful time

Cloclo15 · 03/11/2011 16:04

Thanks bugsy, more stresses today as I got a bit of very light brown/yellow watery discharge today. Usually get this a day or two before my AF so totally convinced it hasn't worked now. I am 5dp5dt today, and fully expecting AF to arrive tomorrow or Saturday. I normally have quite a short luteal phase so I think my own cycle might be breaking through.
The worst thing about this 2WW is I can't bear for my DH to be disappointed and feel like I do now. He is still holding out hope I think :/

bugsylugs · 03/11/2011 08:20

Cloclo I echo what Mrsmiggins says. it can be so hard to stay positive, but remember the thread chant it only takes one which is hopefully bedding down and keeping comfy. try not to analyse every symptom preg and AF can feel identical and everyone has diff symptoms I had none with DS. I know it must be devestating to have had such a large number of eggs and be left with no more but hopefully you will not need it right now.
vics good luck with you appointment today hope it brings some answers and positive news.
piglet welcome glad you can join us.

MrsMigginslovespies · 02/11/2011 22:01

Aww, Cloclo, so sorry to hear you've been so sad. Try to stay positive if you can and visualise happy things and happy places. Am not being a big hippy, but I do believe in the power of positive thinking. Cats always help! When I asked my surgeon how long the wait was in case my first go didn't work, he said wait one period, then try again. So not long, is my impression.

Welcome to Vics and Piglet. May this be a happy positive place for you both.; I've found it brilliant to both learn things and ask silly questions like I did before I started. Am sending Biscuit. Biscuit. I have my first scan on Friday after being on buserelin for 11 days, so hope I get the go-ahead to start my gonal f pen after that.

So, happy Thursdays all, may they be kind to you. x

Piglet28 · 02/11/2011 19:15

Hi can I join you?

We are on our 4th ICSI ( lucky no 2 gave us DS) so we are trying for a sibling. Just started the pill so everything seems a long way off!

Congrats on the BFP's, hugs to those with BFN's.

Cloclo - just to sat don't worry your embie is in the best place, when I got pg I only had a 3 day transfer, they were grade 2, 4 & 6 cell and none made it to blast or freezing! Fingers crossed for you.

Vics32 · 02/11/2011 17:18

Hi all... I have my first IVF consult tomorrow...am feeling pretty nervous.

DH and I have been trying for a baby for 4 years, we had an ectopic (my 2nd) and exploratory laparoscopy showed blocked tubes. I wanted to hook up with other ladies going through similar... I have no idea what to expect, so will try and take it each day at a time.

So nice to know we are not alone going through this. Hugs to all of you xxxxx

Cloclo15 · 02/11/2011 15:25

Hi MrsMiggins, I'm ok, went back to work today, only had two lessons so thought it would be good to break myself in gently before full day teaching tomorrow. Had another blood test this morning to check for OHSS - I surely must be out of the woods with this by now? I managed to get out of work an hour early so just cuddled up in bed with the cats at the minute.

I'm still gutted about all our embies, but at least have stopped crying about it now. I feel almost certain that this hasn't worked though, I don't know why. Already looking into when we could have another go. To ladies who have done this before, how long did you wait between gos?
