Starting up part 2 of this thread since the old one closed at 1000 posts!

iggi lots of luck for today, hope it's nothing - I know it doesn't help but I know lots of women have spotting and/or bleeding in pregnancy and it still goes ok. Definitely call the EPU, get scanned - it's worth it, honestly, at least you will know one way or another. Virtual hugs coming your way.

free I also started AF properly this morning, so looks like we may be both importuning a friendly witch for a good fertility spell on Hallowe'en? I know exactly what you mean about the scary stuff ... a small part of me was actually sort of relieved when I didn't get a BFP purely because it means I don't have to go through the whole worrying about miscarrying all over again. Bizarre, but there it is.

free it depends on what you really want from an early scan. I think you're pretty much on all the drugs that Mr S can throw at anyone. I'm not sure what he could add to that if a bean was slow-growing. If it's important for you to track the progress of this pg in the early weeks, perhaps to identify at what stage things seem to go wrong then take the 6+4 scan and book another at 8 weeks. If you just want to hold out for as long as possible because you know early scanning can't change the outcome then I suggest waiting till 8 weeks.

ari so sorry you're not feeling very confident. Is this your first pg on the treatment? If so then you will definitely feel different. The steroids really do mask the symptoms in some women. I had no nausea, boob heaviness didn't start till 6-7 weeks and no tiredness. I had a week at 5 weeks of feel light-headed, and when that left I felt completely normal. Put the pee sticks away as they are clearly not helping to reassure you. Wait for the hcg blood tests. It's shite that the results take ages, but when you get perfectly fine results there will be even more waiting after that. Free is right, you need to take this one day at a time. Now have some ((((((((((hugs))))))))))

snoopy could first crumbly batch of flapjacks make a nice granola?

comedy very pleased to hear of more good scan news! And how lovely that bean is measuring ahead. Mine was spot on for 13 and 15 week scan, but had gained 5 days for 17 week scan. And had been off the pred for a while by then.

We're back home now. Had a lovely relaxing time. Wish I could have been more active and gone for more bike rides but found that an afternoon rest made the world of difference with my spd, practically disappeared overnight.

We have the neighbours over for lunch tomorrow and am doing beef stew with dumplings followed by trifle (fat emoticon). Sunday - hoping dh will sort out the un-wallpapered patch in ds's room that has needing painting since he was about 6 months. I may start sorting out some of the kitchen cupboards - have slowly been trying to get a little more organised with our storage if we're to make room for nappies, bottles, muslins, steriliser, breastpump...Still hoping to get a front porch built before March so coats, shoes and buggy can be stored there rather than in living room (no hall in this house).

duggs1976 · 18/11/2011 18:47

have to confess.. I could be typing whilst "under the influence". Had today off too.. had a new cooker delivered and some friends for lunch. One with 3 kids under 5 (makes me want to bow down and kiss the ground when she leaves as I HAVE NO IDEA HOW SHE DOES IT.. and the one who has 2 weeks to go. Remember I mentioned her a few weeks back. ANYWAY, since they left about 4pm I have had a few wines whilst making the marinade for my stifado (hhaa) for tomorrow nights birthday MURDER MYSTERY. Based in Casablanca in 1942. Can't wait. Will tell you all how it goes next week.

We don't know each other in RL... and am sure we are all quite different etc. blaa.. but what we've been/going through creates a bond that is pretty unexplainable. The T'INTERNET is to thank for the this.

Ari.. nothing any of us mortals can say or do will make you feel any better.. but you have us with you. Not much of a consolation, but you won't have to go through anything alone anymore. Here's hoping for ALL OF US on here you won't have to. x

Free.. you inspire me.

Kittens too.. v strong.
All of you to be honest, so many ridiclious internet posts on the web and this thread has actually made my life different these past few weeks since I discovered it.

Must log off as is only 6.45pm so a bit embarassing to be a bit pissed so early.. DH on his way home, hoping for some food, but instead I've opened another bottle of wine and some pretzels. How proud he will be.

lots of love ladies.. we should pat ourselves on the back. STRONG WOMEN.. all of us.
x

SHOUTING AT YOU ARI! A big transatlantic shout. You hang onto your appointment and please, lets just all try to take every day as it comes.

DH works in the very sensitive areas of counselling and also disability (both, but separately) and it is often difficult for him to change appointments. But he might be able to do so on the Thursday and I really think I need to get him to do that. I know he doesn't want to let people and he does realise this is very important and I need to tell him that week 7 really is the ideal time to get this sorted out. If something is not seen at week 7, in my experience so far (ie crazy doctor googling after last time) there really is little chance it is going to go well.

Of course there is always the chance that the non-growth of my last mc was 'just one of those things' and unrelated to nkc but I have my doubts.

Arianrhod · 18/11/2011 18:19

free Is there any one day in that 7 week week that your DH could cancel people with minimal disruption? You may well see something that reassures you at 6.4, I know people do, but if you don't then you'll wish you'd booked that 7 week one I think? If it's a matter of Mr S being full (don't shout at me) I can hang on to my appt on 7th Dec even if it turns out I end up not needing it and you can then take it?

Whatever you decide to do I think your peace of mind is paramount, personally.

Hi free If i get a positive I will be 6 weeks the day we go on Dec 15th, so would have to be scanned 5+6 which seems hit and miss and could be a nightmare not knowing before going on hols. But I have seen a heartbeat on the cusp of 6 weeks, feb this yr.(the first hb I ever got). If I was you I would go at 6+4 like you say in case they can adjust any drugs. I would also have to have DH with me and put my foot down for him to get off work but that's easy 4 me to say as I know he can if he really needs to.
I don't know what your OH's job is like for that so difficult to say. It's not the sort of thing you really want a relative or friend to come, you want your other half there really don't you..

freelancegirl · 18/11/2011 17:34

Rather Envy at your domestic skills Snoopy, even though your flapjacks are crumbly. I have been known to have to give DH a call at work if I need to switch the oven on!

Having a bit of a giggle at your 'what has made your face swell' comments from the children Comedy. Oh dear! Don't worry it is all temporary :) My moonface went down completely by 5 weeks post 40mg Pred. Of course I wasn't still pregnant at that point but the Pred bloat is definitely temporary.

I am having a bit of a scan dilemma that I am hoping you can all help me with.

The only date for a scan appointment that suits Mr S and DH at the moment is Saturday 3rd Dec. I am a bit reluctant to take this one though as it would only put me at 6.4 and I still worry that will be too early. Of course I worry that nothing will show at all like last time but 7 weeks should be better than 6.4 shouldn't it?

The trouble is DH is not free at all of week 7 so then it might be 8 weeks! The good thing about 8 weeks is that if there is something growing it will definitely be there, but one worry is what if they had been able to see something going wrong before that and potentially save it with drug adjustments or something. Mr S told me about times he has seen a slow heartbeat and adjusted things to try to address that, hence it is important to be scanned early. But I just don't want to be scanned too early. Of course I could always go along on my own but I am really not sure about that, for important appointments such as scans. Happy to do it for normal appointments, intralipids etc.

What does everyone think? Go at 6.4 and risk an inconclusive scan or wait until 8 weeks? Or just insist that DH cancels people and makes time at 7 weeks.

snoopygirl · 18/11/2011 17:18

We are finishing tiling our porch that we have just built, which is about third from last job to finish our house.....yee haa. Life and finances may actually start to resemble some sort of normality from Jan. Working every weekend for 2.5 yrs will seem like a distant memory....until i feel another project coming on!
Might try and squeeze a cycle ride in with DS & OH Sun morning, been stuffing my face stupid this week for some reason, so could do with working off some pounds.
Just made second lot of flapjacks..1st lot crumbled to pieces, second attempt is gonna break someones teeth and greaseproof paper completly stuck to it. Why am I so useless at baking Blush. (Slummy mummy must try harder and read recipe)!!

Comedyworks · 18/11/2011 17:18

Just caught up with thread - am really sorry ari for what you're going though - it s such a horrible feeling and it goes without saying that my fingers are tightly crossed for you and hopefully those hcg levels will show something positive.

Happy belated birthday Duggs!

Thank you all for the scan comments. I do feel like it's going to work now - I hope this feeling lasts longer than the usual 24 hrs post scan!
It's quite strange that this little one has grown 2 weeks five days in two weeks I'm wondering if ne pred leads to larger babies?

The drugs are certainly leading to a larger mother - Iggi I know your dates are similar to mine - how big are you if it's not too rude a question?! Someone recently thought I mystery be twenty weeks plus and a child at school asked me what had made my face swell - got to love working with children!!

Arianrhod · 18/11/2011 16:18

Hey free .. great to hear you're having fun, is the weather good over there too? Wonder what sushi's called if it's cooked?! :)

Mmm yes, I hear what you're saying, but you know when you get that feeling that something isn't right? The very fact that my hCG should be doubling at a rate of knots, but the test lines are getting no stronger at all, just tells me without any shadow of a doubt that things ain't what they should be. If I'd just got the one faint stick, on 11dpo, then ok that doesn't mean very much at all. But 3 days later and the line is exactly as faint - well, that means quite a bit for me. I know some ladies don't get strong lines on pregnancy tests at all, but I usually do. I know you're right, I should wait and see, but I'm resigned to the worst. I'm already planning my next OV, believe it or not, bought some more OV sticks and all! Not sure if that means I am a complete mental case, probably does :)

It is a complete head-f*ck, you're not wrong there!

Hope everyone's got a fun weekend planned ... I have a feeling I'm either going to be painting the dining room walls (it's actually for me, I have bookcases waiting to go up but DP won't have it until the walls are painted) or else tearing apart the previous owner's carefully crafted vegetable plot. I feel a wee bit bad about it - although, in line with the rubbish domesticity, I am no gardener! - but DD's Christmas trampoline is going there, so it has to be done. Not my idea of fun, but the end results are worth it. Hmm ... much like this treatment lark, methinks! So what are you all up to??

OP posts:
freelancegirl · 18/11/2011 15:49

Loving the idea of the wood burners! So cosy for winter.

Comedy that is amazing news about the scan! Such a milestone.

Puree it is so good to hear that you had cramps etc with successful pregnancy. Any other folk with tales of cramps and weird feelings do keep them coming, so us first timers have something positive to compare to!

Cheerful, yes the vitamin list seems spot on. I added Selenium this time. Not sure why really, just thought I would give it a go. Good you have your scan dated sorted. Maybe we should start putting our scan dates into the list?

Choccy and others, I am with you about not feeling pregnant. I have some mild cramping this morning. And then when I do feel something I of course start mentalling. I have a mild bit of nausea later in the daytime at the moment.

I am trying to sort out a scan by email now. I know he likes to see us first at week 6/7 but I really can't face that whole round of inconclusive scans again. I think I would rather wait until week 7 and if I don't see anything then I will assume it is all definitely going wrong again. That's if it doesn't obviously go wrong before that! Week 6 is w/c28th and week 7 is w/c 5th Dec. It doesn't feel like much fun being Pregnant Me at the moment. Real Life Me however is having a lot of fun, so I guess I can't complain. Actually went out last night with my brother and his girlfriend to a really swish Sushi place in Hollywood. All cooked of course for me. Then we went to the Sky Bar at the Mondrian. All very lovely and was pleased to stay up until midnight (jetlag finally going).

Ari - Battery and the others are right. You have no reason to think this pregnancy is going wrong yet and see how many other people have got faint lines and gone on to have babies! I would probably be with you actually, if I had had another stick to pee on, but being here in the states I haven?t had any more and just used that one faint one too. But we are pregnant! Whether we will stay that way or not is another thing of course.

Snoopy yes it can be madness going over all the 2ww symptoms can?t it!! I think I can definitely tell now, when I am getting pregnant, but always tell myself I am imagining things. But there are certain things you just can?t imagine ? feelings and movements you just don?t get when you are not being impregnated. I too think we get used to the Pred. And 40mg never seems to make it particularly worse. On that subject, I hope you get your info Kittens about what the treatment change might be, but the others are right the 40mg only kicks in at a BFP so you will be ok for a couple of weeks.

CD32 for me today, or technically 4.3 based on a CD29 BFP. Aggh! Such a head f*ck this whole thing.

Arianrhod · 18/11/2011 15:45

battery My DP was vaguely offended that I got to light the fire after the chimney sweep had been yesterday while he wasn't in the house. DD asked him this morning if he knew how to light the fire, he had to say he didn't as he's never done it before, to which she cutely said "Oh I know how you do it" and proceeded to explain to him exactly how it's done (we'd talked about it yesterday). So cute, coming from a 4-year-old girl to a 49-year-old bloke! Grin

OP posts:
batteryhen · 18/11/2011 15:40

cocnut it's ok - I got it wrong too :) it was brownie - I have my Friday brain on.

snoopy I know - DP can not wait to light the thing....all week I have heard ' I can't wait to light the fire' over and over and over .....:)

snoopygirl · 18/11/2011 15:00

log burners are brilliant! we put one i when we did the house last yr and they chuck out so much heat, OH and i sit there with ruddy faces most nights sweating! And it def brings out their caveman instincts of needing to light fires...he just can't stop fiddling or poking it!

Coconutfeet · 18/11/2011 14:53

Oh, Sorry Battery. And sorry it was to whoever asked!!

Log burner sounds great. We've just got a normal open fire. I'd definitely think about getting a burner installed in our next place if we've got the space.

ChoccyPud · 18/11/2011 14:36

Wtf??? Fecking iPhone.

Ahem

Meant to say "blah blah blah... Luckily for me. "

Co ordination is shite today- is that another symptom I should be happy about??!

TFIF!

ChoccyPud · 18/11/2011 14:34

Not me with the clexane don't (want to) know about injections luckily f

batteryhen · 18/11/2011 14:28

ari I will if I can peel the cat away from in front of it! She seems to have clicked on what its for and has taken up residence in front of it with a look that says 'move me if you dare' Grin

Arianrhod · 18/11/2011 14:21

battery we just had our chimney/flue swept yesterday and used the log burner for the first time, it was absolutely fabulous. I love a real fire anyway, and the amount of heat this thing kicked out was unbelievable. Enjoy your new-found warmth! :)

OP posts:
batteryhen · 18/11/2011 14:19

Afternoon everyone :)

coconut - It wasn't me asking - it was choccy I think. I do inject though (when pg) and agree with you - I go for anywhere that is not bruised, some days that means injecting on the same side a couple of days in a row. Don't inject on the belt line though - and don't rub it after! Or you will bruise like hell!
kittens I found the forum a bit annoying really. All the questions we asked - she just replied 'I cover that in my 12 week programme'...... It was me asking about the lining but she didn't answer. I also asked her about stress following your question to prompt her into answering you. The way forward?....eat sprouts apparantly!
ari That is annoying for you. But today you are pregnant until someone says otherwise. I do get annoyed when practices say they won't get the results for a few days - at my practice they can get them back the same day or the day after if they ring for them. I realise not every practice is the same though.
snoopy I hate being in the middle of the 2ww - it drives me mad!
charlie I was asking about womb lining - I have heard that about viagra but I don't think I can persuade my gp to prescribe viagra!!

Hope everyone else is ok - and gearing up for the weekend :)

We have had a log burner fitted and we are having its first lighting tonight :)

Coconutfeet · 18/11/2011 13:40

Oh Ari, I'm so sorry to hear that things are no clearer for you today. How frustrating that you have to wait so long for the results. Have you got anything distracting planned for the weekend to help it pass any quicker? The limbo state is just painful isn't it. My fingers are tightly crossed for you that the outcome is a good one.

Battery You asked about the clexane injections. I try to alternate sides but do still find that one side is less painful than the other one for some reason. I had some horrible bruising at the beginning and I think I may have been injecting a bit too high up. Since I've been doing it lower down (level with belly button or slightly below) it seems better. Although it could just be that my technique has improved slightly.

Arianrhod · 18/11/2011 12:45

Thanks for asking choccy ... I'm not smiling at all, truth be told my heart is breaking, yet again. But I'm trying to put a smile on my face, don't want to pull everyone else around me down. I'm rather used to the false front by now, as I'm sure everyone here relates to.

choccy I have to say, you might have felt awful but it's a very good sign. Yay for feeling cr@ppy :)

snoopy Mr S told me that your body does get used to the pred, maybe you've adjusted well already? That finger-tapping stage, it's almost as bad as waiting for actual OV, if you ask me! And if you find a way to unscrew your head, please please tell me, I definitely need some way to turn my mind off!!

OP posts:
snoopygirl · 18/11/2011 12:38

Hello everyone,

Hope you are well ..just on the test kits ari that is a good price and on the point just ordered myself some more pregnacare with omega 3 and boots are 14.99 and a few places a couple of pounds cheaper but I have mine coming from Amazon today for £6.13 with free p+p! I know the high st has overheads to pay but that mark up is a joke. Moan over.

I have the cheap One step sticks -they are great for obsessive testing and one cb digi preg test left so will try not to waste that one by testing too early.

My pred experience so far is not too bad. Sunday when I took first one was weird, heart racing and shortness of breath and 3 hrs sleep but body seems to have got over shock and sleep since then not too bad if I take the tab before 8am. In fact sleep is quite deep actually apart from waking up at 5.30ish most days then dosing off again. DS didn't help by waking at 5.30 as well and playing with the alarm on repeat!

ari i feel for you having to wait till next week try to keep yourself busy sweetie.x
comedy I bet you are feeling good after your scan, well done.
kittens glad your feeling easier for now, you don't need that stress on top of everything else.

I am 7dpo today and don't know what to do with myself iykwim. It's that finger tapping stage. You just can't help with the symptom spotting, it's impossible when you been prgegnant that many times. You are tuned into everything. Sometimes I wish I could unscrew my head and put it somewhere else!!

ChoccyPud · 18/11/2011 12:34

Yay Comedy fab news! :)

Hello everyone else! Ari how you doing? Keep smiling :)

Someone asked about scan dates - My first scan's booked for 3 Dec assuming all still looks well at that point (yes slap me now!). That would will be 6+2, poss not enough to see anything? Didn't see more than a sac at dead on 6wks before.

Felt awful last night. Out for work and had a couple of diet cokes and some chips and thought I was gonna throw up by the time I got home. V dizzy and nauseous. Not had that before was horrible! Maybe my stomach was too empty and with nothing to do it thought its have some fun? Forced down some cereal with the vits and aspirin and felt better. Got indigestion cramps this morning which is also fun. Odd bit of achy back too but I get that at times anyway.

I don't feel pg as such but keep telling myself I shouldn't expect to with the Pred - but can at least say I'm officially late now as af was due yesterday. Little steps...

Arianrhod · 18/11/2011 11:51

Btw TTC chaps, if anyone's interested a double pack of First Response tests is only £6.60 on Amazon at the moment, bargain!

OP posts:
Arianrhod · 18/11/2011 10:20

Morning ladies ... well, line still just as faint this morning, this is 14dpo/AF due day. So I asked the nurse for an hCG test as well as the thyroid tests when I was in the surgery this morning; they agreed to do it, but said the results won't be in until at least Monday afternoon, possibly Tuesday afternoon :( I have to go in again Monday morning for the second hCG test but of course the result for that won't be in until at least Tuesday afternoon, possibly Wednesday afternoon. By which time of course it could all have sorted itself out. I wish the NHS would do these things quicker!

cheerful those supplements look right to me, and I'm still doing acupuncture - my acupuncturist said I should come in weekly too, until at least 12 weeks. I had a session the same day as the intralipids (arm is still hurting from that :( ) and every single needle felt like someone was putting an electric shock through me! The acupuncturist said my body would have gone into mild shock from the intralipids, because it hurt so much and for so long, so my body was sort-of on "pain alert". Nice :)

/waves to everyone, hope you're all doing great this morning?
