TTC/ pregnancy on Prednisolone or similar part 2

Arianrhod · 18/10/2011 09:55

Starting up part 2 of this thread since the old one closed at 1000 posts!

iggi lots of luck for today, hope it's nothing - I know it doesn't help but I know lots of women have spotting and/or bleeding in pregnancy and it still goes ok. Definitely call the EPU, get scanned - it's worth it, honestly, at least you will know one way or another. Virtual hugs coming your way.

free I also started AF properly this morning, so looks like we may be both importuning a friendly witch for a good fertility spell on Hallowe'en? I know exactly what you mean about the scary stuff ... a small part of me was actually sort of relieved when I didn't get a BFP purely because it means I don't have to go through the whole worrying about miscarrying all over again. Bizarre, but there it is.

free you'll be tucked up in bed right now- or dancing the light fandango as you are in LA, but I've had a trawl through the babycentre forum on nk cells. There was a post about 10 oct from a lady who just had her 7th mc, but 2nd on dr s plan. She asked him about it and he said - (her quote) " most women carry their first pg to term, a few carry their 2nd and no one has had 3 on the plan so far." now you've just said about the poor bc lady so perhaps is the first? Is to b e expected as volumes of us grow I suppose but it sounds like it is still very unusual. Hope that makes sense and you nay already know this as think you go on BC anyway. Interesting - of course perhaps some ladies dont continue after 2 on plan but difficult to measure. Positive thinking. Hope everyone else ok - anymore test results in ? X

duggs1976 · 14/11/2011 06:42

Grin..no seriously, it would be interesting to know what dr s suggests next for her. Is she seeing him only or also st m? I can take a look myself, it is unusual isn't it?

freelancegirl · 13/11/2011 20:57

LOL! It is all worth going through if only to envisage what chart action you might have lined up next for us Grin

duggs1976 · 13/11/2011 20:40

Hey free I guess unless someone finds a 100% "cure" - which isn't going to happen as that would be a bit like finding a way to stop us all dying, then some people will keep miscarrying until they decide to accept they've tried all they can. Like it has always been and always will be. Life and death. It doesn't -by any stretch - mean this is you or me or anyone specific. We just don't know. I know you have higher nk levels but the 8 pg ladies half of them have v high cells too, so we can't let you get spooked by this poor lady. Dr s said 85% success. If it was 100% the world would be a different place. Big hugs across the ocean to you. You've got us in cocoon world so it makes us stronger so we have more stamina ..we are a long way off giving up Grin a long, long way - you've got to see far more of my charts yet honey xWink

freelancegirl · 13/11/2011 20:19

Oh dear, just read on BC that one of the pregnant ladies there has had her third mc on the treatment. How awful. I also can't help but think that's going to be me. FFS, such a flippin terrible ride.

duggs1976 · 13/11/2011 19:16

I guess that makes sense free . . . With you 3 is it also fair to say you were pretty quick in your cycle attempts and you may have been too quick so that not enough time had passed to build up the treatment? Hope u all ok ladies. I'm having a superovulation attempt this month on letrozole. Will keep u updated on it. Yes ladies been moody, psychopath recently . . ESP coming off pred! X

freelancegirl · 13/11/2011 18:34

Greetings from LA!

Cheerful if you get any luck with how much intralipids you need to have please let me know. I feel I might actually be on for a BFN at the moment (got another one this morning, my 14th day on Pred will be Weds so will stop after then) but the clinic haven't got back to any of my emails!! Really annoying as I asked them for a prescription for intralipids last Sunday again in the week.

Sorry not to catch up properly. Busy getting ready and venturing out to see what the day has to offer. Good luck with scans everyone, so exciting to see that it is going well and everyone is progressing, despite the mentalling and tiredness?

Great chart Duggs. Have added my details. I was thinking - stats wise - if there are 20 of us and three of us have had mcs on the first round of treatment, isn't that 85% more or less...? Interesting as that is also the first time success rate of the clinic and here it is actually in action. Someone mentioned on BC that most people who fail in the first attempt go on to be successful on the second. So hopefully that is us.

I still feel a bit nauseous and with a few strange twinges going on down there but from the constant BFNs I am pretty sure that must be the meds and now the jet lag.

Comedyworks · 13/11/2011 17:36

Sorry can't help cheerful but what about emailing - I always find I get a pretty quick response.

18 weeks - fantastic Digi! Thanks for mentioning ds - not a great day today being pregnant helping in some ways but not in others.

Iggi I have got my 12 week on Thursday and feeling same as you - both in terms of tiredness and worriedness. Did a couple of hours of ironing this morning and felt like I'd run a marathon. funny twinges which I keep telling myself are normal but still worry me. Hoping to be able to tell parents etc at school after 12 week scan if all ok although I imagine most people have guessed as stomach is huge. Can't let myself believe that this won't work now but also can't believe it could - roll on being 38 weeks!!

Cheerfulcharlie · 13/11/2011 15:58

sue definitely test, as digi says, you might need to up your pred! I have also had bleeding/ spotting on and off since what I thought was implantation about a week ago.

Duggs - fabulous chart, I have added my info.

I am in a bit of a tiz today, trying to sort out my intralipids overseas. I had the details from Dr S as 20% intralipids over 2 hours but I need to know how many millilitres it is, I didn't think to ask this as I presumed they came in standard packs, but apparently not. Does anyone have a clue? I have looked at all the bumpf Dr S gave me and can't see the quantity mentioned anywhere. I really really want to have these intralipids asap as I am not doing the pred so really relying on the intralipids to do their stuff on my v high levels. I have been doing research and see it's the earlier the better.

I will try ringing NLC tomorrow but they are a few hours behind which will mean I will have to probably wait til Tues to have them at the earliest and did I read in one of the earlier posts that Louise is away? Anyone know who i can contact at the clinic who will be able to help to let me know the quantity of intralipids???

ChoccyPud · 13/11/2011 14:01

Sue definitely test it could be breakthrough bleeding.

suemays · 13/11/2011 13:52

Coley I felt the same as you after coming off 25mg pred - really moody and tired so I think it's normal.

I have just eaten a load of brie so I hope in a way I am not pregnant. I have convinced myself I am not but will do a test tomorrow - thanks ladies for the advice! My temp has gone back up a bit but not loads.

Iggi I am sure everything will be OK at your scan tomorrow. I remember being absolutely knackered just before my 12 week scan so its a good sign as its a healthy pregnancy.

Digi 18 weeks has flown by - so exciting for you!!!

Duggs great chart - have added my bits to it too.

ColeyOz · 13/11/2011 13:38

Congratulations cheerful - I'm so glad we have a bfp!

Sue - I would definitely test! How is your temp? Has it gone up?

I tested negative today at 14dpo so have stopped the pred this morning. Feeling slightly weird today not taking the pred - slightly moody and low in energy. Anyone else had this after stopping the 25mg for 2 weeks?

Just waiting for AF to arrive now and focussing on next cycle. Bit disappointing:(

iggi999 · 13/11/2011 13:11

Hello, nothing to complain about if all is still well inside, but have been completely floored for the last few days - today I am still in bed at 1pm and feel incapable of getting up (only possible due to dh being at home of course). This can't be normal can it?!

Dreading my 12 week scan on Wed now, there is still so much to go wrong.
Good news on the bfp Cheerful, and yay for 18 weeks coming up Digi!

digitalgirl · 13/11/2011 12:51

sue test. If it's positive you'll need to up your pred dose.

duggs beautiful chart, will try and update my details later.

comedy thinking of you and your ds this weekend Thanks

Gotta dash, family heading over for Sunday lunch and haven't had a shower yet. Beef is in the oven and all veg is prepped - so have been busy this morning. 18 weeks tomorrow!

suemays · 13/11/2011 12:02

Morning all!
Comedy - I will prob be drinking soda and lime too so we can be last of the big drinkers!

I am a bit confused today as my period seems to have stopped. It started late on Fri night with a bit of spotting and was not at all heavy yesterday (sorry if TMI). Normally its heavy by the 2nd day but its nearly stopped. If I was not temping I would be wondering if it was implantation bleeding as that can happen at 12DPO but my temp has dropped to baseline. Any thoughts as I doubt I can be preggers if my temp has dropped???
I might do a FR test tomorrow but dont want to waste them! I had what I thought was a period with my daughter at around my Af was due and so didn't realise I was pregnant until 8 weeks!

ChoccyPud · 13/11/2011 11:41

Duggs - more great work with the doc, you're a star. I've added my details too, so far as I can be sure - most of my mcs were very early.

As AF hasn't arrived yet and as it's only 12dpo today, I'm leaving ov as 1 Nov rather than guessing the next date...dh has been doing good work this morning on my optimism levels despite another bfn!

Havingkittens · 13/11/2011 11:27

Well done duggs . I've entered my info but wasn't sure exactly how my cycle attempts are counted. It's my 9th cycle since starting the Pred but had a 2 month gap so would that count as cycle 9 or 7?

Congratulations cheerful!

duggs1976 · 13/11/2011 11:11

Hey ladies,

At last..I've discovered google documents so can link to this spreadsheet...it isn't finished but you can all access it so if you can ..do go in and update your own info..

Comedyworks · 13/11/2011 10:25

Thank you coconut

batteryhen · 12/11/2011 20:41

cheerful - Hooray! At last one BFP! Fingers crossed it just gets stronger xx

duggs Your 12 week scan story is dreadful. My 3rd MMC was at 12 weeks. We had had scans at 6,8,10 weeks all with good hb, then at 12 weeks - no hb and the baby measured 12 weeks. The sonographer started to cry when she told me the baby had died in the last 24 hours. Tests showed it was a little girl, with no abnormalaties. I have to say I do not look forward to scans at all. There is no pleasure in them.

As for me - 2 bits of news. AF arrived today - full on which is good as I haven't had a 'proper' period since the erpc in June and I was worried someting was wrong. But today I have had my first normal period in months.
Secondly, my appointment for Prof Regan arrived today too - and it is next month which I am pleased about, so not long to wait.

I hope everyone is ok, enjoy the states free. Have a good weekend everyone else xx

Coconutfeet · 12/11/2011 18:31

Yeah! Tentative congratulations cheerful. Let's hope that line gets darker for you.

Very jealous of your upgrade and trip to LA free. Dp and I have spent the day decorating, which I bloody hate. Still done now, and well worth the effort.

Comedy - you've been in my thoughts a lot today as I wielded my brush. I think you said it would have been your ds's birthday this weekend. Must be a very poignant time for you.

Hope everyone else is ok.

Comedyworks · 12/11/2011 17:43

sue may and Duggs - I'm not far from there so will meet up for a lime juice (the only drink I can stomach at the moment - not sure how good three litres of lime cordial in a week is doing!) if that's ok?

Enjoy the flight free and travel safely.

suemays · 12/11/2011 16:57

Cheerful - fantastic news for you, fingers crossed the line will get darker!

Not sure if anyone else is interested but Duggs and I are meeting up on Sat 25th Nov for a coffee/drink/vodka at the Royal Oak in Farnham Common Beaconsfield Road, Farnham Common, Slough, Berkshire, SL2 3HS, Tel: 01753 257 473. We are meeting at 2.30pm so let us know if you want to catch up too. Would be nice if some of the out of townies can make it as I know not all of us can make the central London one. Obviously if any of the London based ladies want to come you are more than welcome.

duggs1976 · 12/11/2011 13:55

Oh good ..some good news! It feels like we are in a little life raft on choppy seas and there is a lovely yacht near by that each of us has to get into ..one by one so yes another one onto the yacht is good ..it is possible to get there. The yacht is still on the same choppy sea but you can only get where we're going in the yacht! Hilarious cherry when you said moustache threaded. . I was plucking this morning and lost interest so narrowed my eyes and moved to dimmer lighting. As long as u stay in poorly lit environments I'll be doing ok. Safe trip free enjoy LA. X

snoopygirl · 12/11/2011 12:47
