Waiting to try to conceive

Another thread for those who are waiting to try for a baby. It doesn't matter how long or short the wait; why you are waiting; or how many DC you have. All are welcome.

Old thread here.

Kalidasa welcome to the waiting madness thread! Nerves about making massive life changing decisions are normal, particularly if you can't just take the plunge and have done with it. Waiting's horrible.

Awayinamangercooper · 05/11/2011 08:48

Ittybitty oh I thought you were named after the cloth nappies!

Ittybittysmum · 05/11/2011 05:13

Awayinamangercooper Sadly, no DC. I just typed whatever came to mind when I was registering. Everything I wanted was all ready taken so in the end I just keymashed Blush. One day, however, there will be a real Itty Bitty!

Maketea That's fantastic! Congratulations!

Kalidasa welcome! I just turned 31 myself! And I know what you mean about the waffling, I'm that way too. Sometimes I want a baby like crazy, and some days I think I'm crazy to want a baby.

kalidasa · 04/11/2011 20:56

Very tentatively joining this thread . . . I'm 31 and my partner and I have just started talking more seriously about trying for a baby. We're renting at the moment but we've just bought a flat - should be moving in January, probably, and we've agreed to think about it properly once things have settled down after the move. Really torn between hoping for a pre-emptive accident right now and feeling awfully daunted by the whole thing . . .

MakeTeaNotWar · 04/11/2011 19:48

Evening ladies....My last pill was 2 days ago so I guess we are officially TTC now eek! Very excited. DD is 14 months so I hope it doesn't take too long, nice age gap.

MrsTwinks · 04/11/2011 19:19

na, thats not my lion is his usual reading material. He's actually reading the Expectant Dad's survival guide Shock & he is getting a bit excited about the countdown himself. I think the fear of it being an ectopic pregnancy when I had appendicitis has made him realise how much he wants a LO iykwim.

Haven't caught him sniffing the niece yet... but I'm sure its just a matter of time!!

Awayinamangercooper · 04/11/2011 18:30

LW I have longed for an accident. I seem not to be accident prone!

Awayinamangercooper · 04/11/2011 18:28

MrsTwinks when you said your DH was reading baby books I had visions of him reading "that's not my lion" or "where's Spot?" or similar!

Ittybittysmum if you don't have any DC yet, can I ask why the name ittybitty? Or do you have DC? I don't think I'll be off a year, I think I'll be climbing the walls after a few weeks at home. But we'll see!

Ittybittysmum · 04/11/2011 14:44

Thanks everyone!

MrsTwinks Your DH is reading baby books? I call that an excellent sign!

LittleWater Oh yes, there's always the possibility of an accident! In fact, I know three of them Grin

Awayinamangercooper (I love your festive name!) I know what you mean about wondering when it's reasonable to "say thanks for the job, now I'm going away for a year".
Two years is a long time. I hope you get to ttc soon!

Awayinamangercooper · 04/11/2011 11:06

Ittybitty that is good news! I've got a new job too which has brought me just that little bit closer to starting ttc. The difficulty is in working out what's a respectable time to be in post before getting updiffed!

Anyway, it's the beginning of November and its time for me to invite you all to join me in a drink to celebrate the end of my second year on the waiting thread. It simply must be my turn soon!

nenehooo · 03/11/2011 21:09

YAAAAY Ittybitty Wine

Evilwater · 03/11/2011 21:02

It's wonderful to see everyone geared up to getting ready for ttc.

At the moment I'm doing a nvq 2 in healthcare. It's for 6 Months so me trying to convince DH is taking a back seat. However if I have an accident Grin

Amontercooper- where AF went she only knows.

Lw

MrsTwinks · 03/11/2011 19:43

Ittybittysmum thats wonderful about the job, one step closer now!

I have my appointment to get my rubella immunity checked next week and I'm charting in advance. DH has even started reading baby books Shock

Ittybittysmum · 03/11/2011 19:06

Just found out that another friend is expecting! So wonderful and exciting and so very jealous making (but of course my pregnancy and labour will be a dawdle and my pfb will never cry, so I'm not really jealous at all because my pfb will be totally worth waiting forGrin)

In great news, I was offered the job last night and details to come today. DH and I even talked baby over toast and tea this morning! We have agreed on a threshold for wage and length of contract we want before we try. This is starting to feel thrillingly close to date-setting!

Amonstercooper · 01/11/2011 10:22

LW my AF was once 15 days late and I had a 45 day cycle. I knew I had ovulated late because I was charting, and my luteal phase was exactly the same length as always, so while hopeful, I was pretty sure I wasn't pregnant. With me it was work stress.

OP posts:
Ittybittysmum · 01/11/2011 01:02

LittleWater I've heard stress can cause missed AF but never had it happen to me. That said, missing AF, especially if you've previously been regular, can sometimes signal trouble (can't speak to the effects of the pill as I can't take it!) If AF stays AWOL and there's no BFP it might not a bad idea to get a once-over from a gp to be sure there's nothing funny going on down there.

As for the lot of you Baby sniffing? Baby sniffing?! Oh my god you guys. I love this thread.

Evilwater · 31/10/2011 20:42

Weesooty- well I just didn't take the pills very strictly. It's nice to know that it's normal not to have a AF sometimes.

I'm going back to school tomorrow, well doing my nvq 2. I've placed all my bits of paper in a orderly folder. This will deffently be hard tomorrow as I will be using my brain.

WeeSooty · 31/10/2011 20:34

Evening all

Ittybitsymum I really do sympathise with you on the spreadsheet. One of my main worries is money, I just don?t know how we will do it! I?ve had a very good upbringing, just want to be able to do the same when we have children! Good luck with the job tho!!

Vivipru I am soo fed up of the ?when you having a baby? stuff. Or the ?ooh is that a wee tummy I see??? Angry No, I?m just eating too much chocolate! Why do people feel the need to comment?!?! Its really rude!

MrsTwinks I think we?ll be trying to conceive at the same time! I?m taking the conception vitamins just now and working at being all healthy! Aww at your romantic husband! We?re also having a good holiday in January, start the trying in style! [hwink]

LW sorry for being a bit confused, are you off contraception just now? If so maybe your body is just settling? Since coming off the pill my periods have been all over the place!

Nothing new for me really, occasionally I?m broody mostly I?m just scared![hblush]

MrsTwinks · 31/10/2011 16:58

oh yes... I also go visit my 4 month old niece just to sniff her. Blush

Evilwater · 31/10/2011 16:50

Well still no AF, I did another pg test and it a bfn. [hsad]
Mentioned it to DP and well he thought it was strange and nothing more on the matter. [hconfused] I'm hoping some wonderful kids will answer the door tonight. As I have seen a mummie on a bike and scream mask.

I have no idea why AF did not turn up, but all tests a a bfn.
I'm going on the pill for a little while as a baby in winter would crush us financialy.

Vivi - my sister loves to wind me up about having children. [hangry] she loves to blert it out to anyone that can hear. So I just ignore her.

Lw
P.s
Does anyone walk threw the baby isle to get that smell.

ViviPru · 31/10/2011 11:32

Thanks, ladies, good to know I'm not the only one. I know people don't mean to be rude, but I'm often astounded by peoples tactlessness. The couple in question are waiting to TTC DC2, but I don't probe them about this as I wouldn't want to hit a nerve. I'd only discuss it with them if they made it obvious they were comfortable talking about it.

Just grumpy this week - sorry :(

MrsTwinks · 31/10/2011 10:25

Vivipru I have the same from my mum and IL's! We've taken to getting really pissed off at this point. After asking was i pregnant when DH called to tell MIL I was in A&E with appendicitis shes shut up asking about my uterus every five seconds, and I think me refusing to see her for 3 days got arround and they all stopped asking thank god!!

Getting all excited now, as 3 cycles away from when we are going to start so all the stuff like vitamins and charting to have an idea and stuff. Also planning our last solo (very boozy at this rate) christmas and holiday. We were saving ALL this years holiday to go to my brothers wedding, but now thats not happening abroad DH has decided we should have a big romantic hoilday when we start TTC. Soppy thing at times he is [hblush]

Buddhagirl · 31/10/2011 09:46

LW, hows it going? What do you think DP is going to say?

Evilwater · 31/10/2011 05:50

Still no AF and that makes 7 days of no show.
Going to buy another test just in case, it would be fantasic if it was a bfp.

Lw

Ittybittysmum · 31/10/2011 03:05

Aw, ViviPru, visits like that are the worst. It's pretty much impossible to know how to respond some times!
