Another thread for those who are waiting to try for a baby. It doesn't matter how long or short the wait; why you are waiting; or how many DC you have. All are welcome.

Old thread here.

My CBFM turned up yesterday..... I sooooooo wanna start using it!!! Smile Going to my new GP for a pre-conception checkup tomorrow - so it's a week of fun! Good distraction from the face work is being a complete PITA at the moment....

Fertility Friend tells me that my most fertile days next month are 27 Dec onwards..... Errrrrrr wondering if DH would be convinced by the argument that it is pretty much the same as starting TTC in January...??? Grin stupid cycle! I don't want to have to wait until the second half of January!!!!

CEDR · 23/11/2011 10:51

nenehoo- snap!

I've got a lot of different groups of friends- from the main group we will be the first couple ttc (afaik), but we do have friends on the periphery who have recently sprogged.

So we've decided not to tell anyone. All my friends know I love kids, and that my husband (sorry, can't quite bring myself to call him DH!) being a few years older than me would like kids sooner than I might if I were with someone my own age!

It's so hard not to tell anyone anything- and waiting to ttc is really hard. I've had superb phantom period pains since coming off the depo last week.... and I can't even tell anyone that as if they know I'm expecting a period at some point, they'll probably know I'm off the depo! Argh!

Working at home today with a warm cat to sit on my lap!

redrhumba · 23/11/2011 06:46

moggle congratulations on the job. i know your not sure it's in what you want but it is another step closer

redrhumba · 23/11/2011 06:43

Morning all
i have really worked hard to keep it all in lately because i know it's doing dh's head in. on the flip side tho he's the one that keeps bringing it up and i know he is so undecided about having another so i'm letting him come to his own decision. he knows my feelings and i think now if we decided not to have anymore children I'll be fine but i'm secretly hoping!

nenehooo · 22/11/2011 19:30

Yay lots of exciting news on here!!! I'm not telling ANYONE and itis absolute hell, hence my addiction to MN!!! X

moggle · 22/11/2011 14:49

Bloody hell Zara that's impressive!!! Well done! DH paid his last instalment last month. Daren't look at mine, after 3 yrs of paying it and 3 yrs of not I'm almost back where I started, I suspect!!

Zara1984 · 22/11/2011 12:20

Wow Moggle such restraint! I am the naughty one everytime we DTD suggesting to not use the condoms!! DH finds this hilarious now and half-expects to catch me with his bedside drawer with a large pin... And of course a big hearty congratulations on the job!! Given I have a totally unsecure job I am looking to being a SAHM... or part-time phd (this idea has popped up in my brain again) or part-time something else.

peggy CEDR and moggle - arrrgh keeping it in is the worst part. A close friend (her DH is close friend of my DH) who lives up the road whose DC#1 is due in January is pretty much the only person that fully knows aside from DH. In fact we're working on a cunning shared childcare plan, so she's VERY keen for me to pop in October or so because it's when she'd be going back to work part-time! Others have inklings that we'll be starting soon (but it has been couched by us in vague 1-3 years terms). The only other person I had to tell was a former colleague who wanted me to apply for a job that was advertised at my old work - one of the main reasons I didn't apply is because I want to be pg/DC#1 born by this time next year, and we don't want our child/ren to go into full-time nursery care at young age. So I had to tell her I was actively TTC to shut the questions down (did you apply?? when's the interview??). She is very sensitive and has said she's not going to ask questions in case it doesn't happen straight away (very nice of her!!).

The big celebration for us that will kick of TTC is when I have FINALLY PAID OF MY STUDENT LOAN at the end of December (according to my calculations!). I'm so excited and I just want to get rid of it! That is the equivalent of around £30k (NZ$65k) of debt paid off since MAY. Since graduating in 2007 I had only paid off £5k of the total balance so this was a big effort. I am damn proud of myself - all motivated by getting my DCs sooner rather than later (and the nasty 7% interest rate... thanks NZ government)! So you can also guess I have some strong views on introducing tertiary fees and larger student loans in the UK and elsewhere....

moggle · 22/11/2011 11:20

CEDR and everyone- it is so hard not having anyone except DH to talk to about it. I have spoken to mum a bit but you know what grandparents are like, it'd be their 1st so dont want to get them too excited!
I got the job I went for, yay, really not that excited about it as I'm not really sure if it's what I want to be doing long term, but it means a safe secure job with maternity leave so that's what I'm focused on right now...
DH surprised me at the weekend by suggesting we start TTC after my current period... Ie right now!! I was sooo tempted... But really need to not miss this family holiday, I know it's unlikely but if we did get lucky this cycle that would place due date smack bang in the middle of the holiday. As it only comes around once every 5 or 6 years I think I can wait one month to start!

MrsPeggyPatch · 22/11/2011 09:04

Nenehoo -very exciting!

CEDR - Its so hard to keep it in. Especially when I'm sure people are starting to guess I'm gearing up for it - losing weight/learning to drive etc! (When I told a friend at work howI was learning to drive, and I was saying it was an important life skill I didn't have, her reply was yes,and it will be useful if you have babies...!)

DH and I just spent the weekend with my God-daughter who is just over a year. Was a bit different from what we had planned as my friend (god-daughters mum) had the winter vomiting virus so we were on babysitting duties! DH was so cute with her, made me super broody- especially when she came for sleepy hugs with me! Though it was super tiring!

Downside being that I then caught the blooking virus, spent all yesterday throwing up (and the rest) and couldn't even keep water down. Now on my second day off work, no longer throwing up but as I've only had half a glass of water and a ginger biscuit in the last 36 hours I think I best stay in bed!

Quite scared now about ttc - we start the 2nd week of december with the 2ww finishing on Christmas eve (not brilliant timing- will be at in-laws so not sure how I'll be re the inevitable disappointment!). More scared now about being pregnant- the last 24hrs made me think lots about morning sickness! ARGH! Something I'm not looking forward to!

nenehooo · 21/11/2011 21:15

I just bought a thermometer!!! Smile

Evilwater · 21/11/2011 21:14

Hello everyone, Espally new peeps!
Just a quick post, thier has been 5 people at work that are pregnant. One of the girls at work said ohhhhh..... Your next. Of course I just shrugged it off, but my heart wanted to leap and say you really think so. :)

Yes I know I'm crazy, but still my DH is against kids, something to do with the world being screwed. Oh well back to the grind stone.

Lw

CEDR · 20/11/2011 20:50

MrsPeggyPatch- hello! Sounds like you and me are in a similar situation ('cept the weight- but well done on that!!) It is SUPER hard to keep it a secret when you want to talk to people and tell them everything, but it will be worth it as and when you can. Also got lots of pregnant colleagues and a few friends (no close ones, but friends).... and it's hard to keep it in! Gluk!

VeniVidiVino · 20/11/2011 16:50

Hello again, I've been off this thread for a while trying to avoid obsessing about babies too much but last night DH and I had a good chat about how we were feeling re starting TTC in two short weeks and it got me all over excited again. So glad to have MN for feedback and support!

Weesooty glad you were ok at cousin's baby shower, I have to avoid making broody comments around DH's newphews as they are sooo cute and I could totally give myself away there. It is frustrating when others seem to drift along with no plan and everythings works out whereas others put so much time, effort and consideration into these things Envy

CEDR · 20/11/2011 16:42

Hm,
Nurse asked me if I'd had my second lot of MMR jabs as they're not in my records. I had to ask my mum (without telling her why I want to know), and she's sure I did have both lots (and I believe her as she's good at that kind of thing). Made me a bit worried though. Nurse said if I haven't had both lots, then I'd have to have the booster and stay on depo/ some form of contraception for 3 months before ttc. This is of course fine, but I don't know what to do! Should I have the MMR anyway? Would somewhat put off our plans, but we also don't know how long it will take for fertitility to return after 18 months on the depo...... :-S

WeeSooty · 20/11/2011 11:41

Thank you so much everyone for your kind words about my feelings towards my cousin. It is good to know I?m not the only one who can feel this way.

Redstrawberry thank you for the link to that thread I?m so glad its sfae to get my highlights done! I don?t think I could cope with nine months of roots showing through!!! Lol

Peggypatch that?s good your smear went ok, it?s a horrible experience but a necessary one! I recently got fitted for a diaphragm, in an attempt to loose the condoms, and honestly the amount of nurses and doctors poking about up there I got over my embarrassment!

Well it was my cousins baby shower yesterday. It was alright, I had to put on a slight brave face but I guess I am slightly happier for her? Or at least I?m trying to curb my insane jealousy and be happy for her?. Envy

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Buddhagirl · 20/11/2011 00:28

Hey everyone, loving the round strain advice! Even though its gross ;)

Things are moving on slightly in my world. We have decided on a name! I let dh pick , Tobias, Toby for short. He also said he can't wait to have kids tonight! Family and friends all seem to be pregnant or have small children so maybe thats contributing to it. Anyway I'm happy :D we are doing really well saving for a deposit on a house and his parents are willing to help out, plus ice got a new job with a big pay rise, so when we have moved in there will be no more excuses!

I'm still worried I'm infertile, but much more chilled about it and ready to wait and see. Hopefully just enjoy swi!

redrhumba · 19/11/2011 08:38

Uhoh have i been away so long to miss all this.
Anyway hi to you all again, and hi to everyone I've not met before!
Things have settled down a little now and i haven't really been bringing up the whole ttc thing but dh has and i got the shock of my life last night when he told me not to carry on with my pill (i'm currently on my weeks break) but in the same conversation he changed his mind again. i'm happy about this cos i think its a step closer to him agreeing to a 2nd although i feel i'm on a rollercoaster at the mo!
Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Angelico · 18/11/2011 20:36

Thanks for the tip nenehooo. And consider me deeply jealous that you can still fit into clothes you bought when you were 15 Grin

nenehooo · 18/11/2011 19:01

Ooh and MrsTwinks Cycle countdown is good! OMG I WAS ABOUT TO WRITE 2 AND IT'S ACTUALLY 1. AAAAAAARRRRGH!!!!!!!
AND hubby has just said he'll buy me a new dress as we're going to see his family tomorrow and they never ever wear the same outfit twice and I still wear clothes I bought when I was 15. Blush
Have a good weekend all you lovely lovely people!!!

nenehooo · 18/11/2011 18:57

Hi LadyBourne! I got mine yesterday and couldn't put it down last night - even missed the beginning of I'm a Celeb to read to the end of the chapter... GEEK!
Am loving it, but so far I haven't really read anything that I haven't already seen on MN. Apart from the whole 'your Grandmother gave birth to you' thing... I was wowed by that last night - hubby already knew this and wasn't shocked. He also didn't balk at the fact that I'd bought a fertility book - RESULT!
Actually there was one piece of new info I picked up Angelico this is for you... if you find a round stain in your pants, this is GOOD as it means wet CM. Streaky stain is BAD as it means dry.
So there you go. Grin

LadyBourne · 17/11/2011 20:23

Good evening,
Goodness, haven't been on for a couple of days and feel like I've missed lots!

redstrawberry I have purchased both Pregnacare (for conception) and folic in my enthusiasm and now they're both sitting in my medicine box as I'm not sure when I'm meant to take them! I don't think there's any harm in taking them both, but I'm going to start on the Pregnacare in January and then go from there.

pinsent yes think that's what I'm going to do re the pill. This pack is my last one then going to start charting temp etc so I can get my head round cycles.

nenehooo I received my copy of TCOYF last week and it's certainly been a eye opener. Think I'll be referring to it a lot. Be interested to know what you think!

I now have date for surgery for endometriosis - 7th Dec. Ties in with end of pill packet so feel after then I can focus on ttc stuff. Keep having doubts about impact it's going to have on career as started in new job 10 weeks ago, but need to bear in mind it could well take ages to get pregnant. Oh what a dilemma!

I see there's lots of new ladies - hi to all.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

MrsTwinks · 17/11/2011 19:23

3 cycles to go!! glad we are waiting ATM as the cramps are horrendous after the appendectomy. Stomach definately needs longer than 4 weeks to heal, laproscope or not if you ask me.

Had my blood tests today, and then tea with SIL and DN and eeeeeeekkk told her we are planning starting TTC in Febuary. So very real now, and it very nice she is going to help me keep it from MIL and makes me feel a bit better about not having mum to help etc. The amount of baby crack books I currently have on loan from the library is reaching critical level thou

MrsPeggyPatch · 17/11/2011 15:03

Thanks all for the support!

Smear was absolutely fine- if you've not had one I'd encourage you to go, it's not so horrendous. For me it didn't hurt at all, even though the nurse had 3 goes at gettings swabs.

Nurse said results should be back in about 2 weeks so hopefully in time before 2nd week of December!

Now home and making minemeat and chutney...

Rikalaily · 17/11/2011 12:16

CEDR I'm hoping! I know it's not likely after everything I've read, it seems to be 12-18 months on average. I'm hoping that the fact I've only had 2 jabs helps, but I'm also very sensitive to hormones so that may not be in my favour. Fingers crossed though :)

My SIL got pregnant very quickly after the depo, her period had not returned at all so she didn't realise she was pregnant until nearly 20 weeks!
