Waiting to try to conceive

Another thread for those who are waiting to try for a baby. It doesn't matter how long or short the wait; why you are waiting; or how many DC you have. All are welcome.

Old thread here.

Am 33 now but I'd like more than 2 in our brood so want to hurry up and get started for the 2nd so that then we can have another!

WannabeEarthMomma - you've got loads of time, don't worry. Get youself on an even keel with everything and you'll be up the duff before you know it!

I found out I was pregnant with DS 1 a day after I'd been told I might be up for redundancy - not great but hey ho. Luckily wasn't selected but it did put a bit of a dampener on the news. DH was very supportive though which really helped lots and so I wasn't too worried about the money situation as he sorted it all out.

Good luck

WannabeEarthMomma · 07/06/2012 21:21

Really want to get on with it now, I'm 30 but OH is 46, so I feel like we are going to have a last-minute rush to have a family. I always wanted to have kids spaced out a bit more than the average (i.e. 4 or 5 years between), but I don't think that's going to happen now. I think if all goes well with #1 I will be trying for a small gap to avoid struggling to conceive #2. It's a scary thought - I think a small gap can work for some people but I'm sure I would struggle!

I'm starting to get paranoid that we might not even have a #1 if we don't get our act together! At the moment we are just working out how to pay the council tax arrears and boring stuff like that :(

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 07/06/2012 21:09

How old are you crispy if you don't mind my asking?
All the best!

crispyjojo · 07/06/2012 20:20

Am going down now until we can start TTC. It's finally coming round - although very slowly. Have got another 6 weeks until we can start trying. Conceived with DS within 2 months of stopping my mini pill so DH now believes that we're super fertile and won't let me stop taking the mini pill until the exact time that we start TTC. Am just nervous that we're both older now and that it'll take much longer.
Am super broody. Lots of my friends are either pregnant or have just had their babies and I so want it to be our turn. Also, really want to have only a 2 year age gap between DC.
Aaaargh, it's driving me nuts! Have been ready really to start TTC since the new year!
Good luck girlies!

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 06/06/2012 22:05

Congratulations discowomb !
Disco indeed Grin

Discowomb · 06/06/2012 20:24

Can I lighten the mood with some good news. We got there quickly and DC 2 is due in Feb. hope our luck rubs off when the rest of you start TTC. Smile

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 02/06/2012 20:27

Haven't been on this thread in a while (posted a couple of times, name changed since then).
Mostly because wasn't TTCing then, and not TTCing now!!
so nothing's changed.
Sad
Happy Jubilee weekend, all!

DulcetMoans · 30/05/2012 20:32

Lthewife - how annoying for you! Glad AF turned up to put your mind at rest at least. It's hard not to think the worst/best with these things though, don't feel stupid!!

We were waiting until July so getting prettying close but we are starting June now. I'm exciting but really scared now! Grin just another couple weeks to go.

LtheWife · 30/05/2012 11:02

Well AF turned up on Sunday evening but she only put in a token appearance. She hung around for around 48 hours, wasn't anywhere near as heavy or horrifically painful as usual and promptly disappeared again.

Waiting to TTC is frustrating enough without AF weirdness. I'm sure it's just a blip but it's bloody ridiculous the things that go through your mind. I keep on going from "It's just a blip", through "Maybe I am pregnant" to "Could it be the beginning of early menopause?" (I'm 30, all my female relatives had hysterectomies in their mid 30's for different reasons so no family history to predict when it might occur). I feel like an idiot for thinking half of these things, I'm normally so level headed and logical. Grrr

LtheWife · 26/05/2012 19:41

Hi ladies, hope you don't mind but I've come for a bit of a whinge! I don't know what the hell is going on with my cycle at the moment and it's doing my head in. We're still waiting to TTC, but 8 months ago I started tracking my cycle and did a few months of OPK's so that I had a rough idea for when we do start.

Firstly, my regular as clockwork 27 day cycle started getting shorter and shorter. Last month it was only 21 days, but the average over the last 8 months has been 24 days. A bit odd and I'd planned to book an appointment with my GP but hadn't got round to it yet.

This month however I'm currently up to day 30. I don't think I've ever had a 30 day cycle in my life. No signs of AF arriving at all, no pmt, no spots, no spotting, no sore boobs, not a thing. I did have what I thought was a cold for a few days from day 25 though and have been stupidly tired.

Of course I started getting a little excited, we did the deed a few times around the time I'd normally ovulate (and DH has started using the withdrawal method recently), an accidental pregnancy would be wonderful IMO! When I ordered the cheapie OPK's they messed up and sent me pregnancy tests instead, so this morning I thought I'd better pee on one. Actually, I used three just to make sure. All BFN.

So where the hell has AF gone? Very confusing.

DulcetMoans · 20/05/2012 09:17

SurreyArmyWife - I am sure you're not the only one feeling like this. I imagine researching is how half the people on this thread got here. It's certainly how I got here!

pinkbuttons - I've got about 9 weeks before I can start trying offically so it is getting close (I just worked that out, it's not engraved in my mind or anything!) I agree with you though, this isn't torture, it's strangely helpful to read everyones stories and know you're not the only one.

Hopefully a few of us will bump into each other in the pregnancy board over the next few months!

Gennz · 20/05/2012 05:07

Hello, I'm still loitering here ... we have booked a week in NY for mid September (the last hurrah!) and I think we'll get cracking on TTC after that. So that gives us only 3 -4 months to go ... scary. We're also planning quite major house renovations for late this year or early next which could be interesting - I really do not want to be heavily pregnant living in a bombsite house or (worse) with my MIL!!

Localgirlinthephotograph · 19/05/2012 22:10

Jumping in to join the thread if that's OK. I have a 3 yo DS and we had always said we wanted a decent gap if we were going to have another. It would be handy if DS was at school too so only one set of nursery fees, which is quite likely now unless I was to conceive very quickly. I'm 38 so not got ages (have read the stuff about 38 being the age where your fertility really drops). I do have a medical history which means I have to plan very carefully to ttc as it requires changing some of my medications, and I wouldn't want to do that for longer than absolutely necessary. So in my head I'm imagining we would spend 1 year trying and then review the situation if not successful so I can manage the risks.

However, bit of a spanner in the works now. Had just started taking all the vitamins etc in the pre-trying period but now looks as though DH will be made redundant at the end of June. So it is sensible to put ttc on hold, but a bit sad since it will be for an indefinite period.

Anyway, hello all. Hoping people get to the ttc stage as soon as they want.

pinkbuttons · 19/05/2012 21:25

hi everyone and welcome.
Ive noticed its been quite quiet recently between people heading of to start TTC and I know I myself have been absent in a while to try and control the overwhelming broodiness with still 3-4 months to go before we can start TTC.
My DH thinks I come on to torture myself but its lovely having people to talk to that understand how Im feeling and dont think Im insane (as DH most definitely does)

How is everyone getting on? Anyone getting near?

Im another one trying to lose weight before starting to TTC, but AF is here and I just want cake!

xTonixxx · 19/05/2012 13:48

Didn't realise this kind of thread existed. So happy to have found it!

Have been with my Other half for 3 years and he keeps telling me I need to be ready for children within the next 2 years because he wants kids before he's 30... but I've become all broody now! Unfortunately not really in the position to TTC what with me being made redundant and stupidly returned to education...

So may I join your thread?

SurreyArmyWife · 18/05/2012 22:01

Hi everyone, I'm new to MN. My DH is away with the Army and I've been thinking about starting a family more than ever. We've been together 12 years (married for 7) but with so much time on my hands I feel like getting pregnant is taking over my thoughts. DH is away for another 3 months, then I hope we'll be ready to start trying. In the mean time I've been 'researching', when I read this thread it made me feel less guilty about being on the MN, website!
I'm normally super organised, so it makes sense that I've already looked into; maternity pay, nurseries, primary schools, options to work part time, epidurals........
Hope I'm not the only one feeling like this!

DulcetMoans · 18/05/2012 21:08

Oh, I am so happy to find this thread! I have been loitering around the conception thread but not really felt I can get involved because we aren't quite trying yet.

No children but been with DP for nearly 10 years. Planning to start trying from July for several reasons, primarly work related; ensures maternity pay and the time I would take off for maternity would best suit my industry but it also marks our 10 year anniversary so why not?! :o

I have been losing weight in preparation and researching, hence ending up on MN! I am quite clueless as to what I am doing but I figure that's normal. We plan to start the lazy way and take it from there.

mrsbugsywugsy · 18/05/2012 17:38

Just thought I would pop in and say goodbye as we are now officially TTC Smile

Good luck to you all

KEW79 · 13/05/2012 17:11

Can I join you? WTTC#3... first with DP. I am ridiculously broody but dp wants to wait. We're just about to move to a new house that =is just about standing= needs work. My career is going amazingly well at the mo. So he is right, but still... I want a baby!

Came off BCP in Dec, as getting headaches/migraines, so using the tried and tested withdrawal method... personally hoping for a happy accident :)

HermioneE · 07/05/2012 19:08

waves well DH and I are officially now TTC.. albeit the lazy way Wink so I say goodbye and good luck to all of you waiting! My waiting period went quicker than expected, hope yours does too Smile

leguminous · 07/05/2012 02:39

Can I join in? D has just turned 2 - I always said that 2 years was the minimum before I'd start TTC a second baby, and now I'm dithering and going oh, maybe when she's 3... I am broody as fook, we were in children's A&E with her last week and I kept ogling other people's newborns. But I'm also aware of how much more freedom I have now that she's off the breast and sleeping through most nights. I want to wear my lovely clothes and go out and eat rare steak and not be shattered all the time. And I had horrid SPD towards the end of my last pregnancy, which is v likely to come back worse the second time round, so I'm scared for my mobility.

I'm half wanting to enjoy a bit more freedom before I go back on the hormonal rollercoaster of pregnancy, and half tempted every single time I climb into bed to turn to H and go "Oh fuck it, let's just start trying". I think the sensible thing to do is wait. But I miss my bump!

knowotumean · 05/05/2012 22:14

OMG I've just for the first time ever realised I AM BROODY!!
I wanna baby!!

gotta get a job though and gotta get a turkey baster (sp?)cos my DH has delayed ejaculation. at least I have myself an action plan :-)
god I hope I'm on the right thread....never ventured from AIBU/relationships!!

DichotoMous · 05/05/2012 20:56

Leftwingharpie congratulations, I bet you are so excited but noooooooooo you can't leave, you're the founder of the thread!

You must promise to only venture as far as the door of our waiting room and keep popping your head in every so often to see how we're getting on.

Enjoy your trip, and good luck with the house hunting :o

HermioneE · 29/04/2012 20:26
