Another thread for those who are waiting to try for a baby. It doesn't matter how long or short the wait; why you are waiting; or how many DC you have. All are welcome.

Old thread here.

Lol Awayinamangercooper

Anyone want to start a new thread for those about to go for broke??? I don't really know how...

Awayinamangercooper · 04/12/2011 17:14

Goodbye Alexiliza and good luck with TTC!

Blimey I feel like it's the end of the year at Mallory Towers and we're waving goodbye to the Upper Sixth!

howiwonder · 04/12/2011 17:07

Xmas Smile ah now ive worked out how to do the festive smile!!

howiwonder · 04/12/2011 17:05

Feels like I am joining this thread just as everyones leaving!! Good luck everyone who is off to start TTC for real - so exciting!

I'm really looking forward to getting started after xmas, have had quite a broody weekend - lots of MNing which has made me so much worse! We have just moved to a new city so Ive had lots of fun googling all the maternity services/hospitals here - seems quite different from when I had my DS in London.

Hope everyone had nice weekends - getting pretty Christmassy now isnt it?! :)

alexeliza · 04/12/2011 15:20

Hi Everyone,
I've not been around much as I've been caught up with work. I did want to stop in today though, to say good bye and wish everyone well, especially over the festive season.
DH and I have been talking this weekend and have decided to start ttc now. We had originally ear marked to try from 27 December (we're away on holiday then) but it turns out we're both impatient and couldn't think of any reason now not to start. So we are.
Very excited, but there's a part of me that's a little scared and over-awed at the prospect, but not that it's going to put me off.
I hope everything goes well for all the rest of you and will keep an eye out on the other threads for how you're all doing. Thanks so much for letting me join your lovely group and for keeping me company!! best wishes xx

difficulttimes · 04/12/2011 09:04

Argh its so frustrating isnt it you just wanna start . NAO!

MrsTwinks · 03/12/2011 23:05

difficulttimes luckily the nurse tells me now one "cycle" if I need jab otherwise I might commit murder as i likely won't get it if I need it before January and was planning ttc late feb/early march, and I first asked for one end of October Angry

nenehooo · 03/12/2011 22:58

Well AwayinamangerCooper this is the thing... I've been really good and taken my temp at the same time every day - even waking up naturally at 6am at the weekends?! I'm hoping the temp dips were when I'd woken up a few hours before my alarm went off, as that can affect your temp.
Our date to start TTC is January too I'm afraid - but I don't want to leave! At least you've got an amazing holiday AND TTC to look forward to! Xmas Wink

difficulttimes · 03/12/2011 22:13

Argh rubella test is a bloody nuisance!!!!

but neccessary I know, I've been held up for 3 months becasue of the injection :(

MrsTwinks · 03/12/2011 22:06

Its really a bit exciting now, getting so broody and thinking eeeeek next crimbo I'll (fingers crossed) have a LO or a HUGE bump! Xmas Grin SIL had her youngest (and last she says) in July so she has loads of stuff. She is only person we've told about TTC as I need someone to talk to about it all etc as I know we will have to keep stum until after my brother gets married in May or else take his spotlight IYWIM. But SIL is very excited for us too, apparently shes already plotting all the things to buy us lol!

Its really nice to have the place done. Its a HA place, so alot of it was little things that we never got arround to like rehanging a door, new cooker, things to make it easier with LO. But we've had ALOT of things go wrong like plumbing this year so it feels extra nice to think all nice and lovely, as we will be here for a good while yet.

It is a blood test to check rubella immunity, but its been a nightmare. A month trying to get it sorted and counting Angry

difficulttimes · 03/12/2011 21:39

Hope it goes well 12bec

I'm waiting (waves) and agonisng really I have to wait till the 16th , been waiting since sep, arrgh i'm going to explode.
I get so jealous of hearing pregnancy news argh I hate it.

fingers crossed for all of you.

Awayinamangercooper · 03/12/2011 21:39

I'm sorry to hear your relationship broke down Bec but well done for making a decisive decision, which must have been hard. Recently on this thread a lot of people have been waiting short term for various reasons but there's a group of us who are stuck here simply because our partners don't want to TTC.

It will certainly liven up the wait if you update us regularly on the Prowl!

12bec345 · 03/12/2011 21:08

I have a 5 yr old and split with her Dad after many disagreements. One being that I desperately wanted another child and he would do everything to avoid having sex to ensure that didn't happen. Now I'm single I've given myself 3 years to come up with a baby plan... I will have another in 3 yrs time!!! However I do find I'm now on the prowl for a fertile man to prepare for the future!! Although if I don't find another Dad, i will be going down the sperm donor route as I don't want DD to be an only child. And I want to be pregnant and have a baby again. Xmas Smile

Awayinamangercooper · 03/12/2011 20:57

It sounds like you are feeling a lot more positive about the whole thing, MrsTwinks. What do you mean about your SIL and what you want her to keep? Do you mean baby things to pass on to you?

Wow it must be lovley to have the house all finished. DH and I are thinking of getting a place in the Spring, but to start off with no doubt it will be a mess.

How do you get your rubella checked? Is it a blood test?

MrsTwinks · 03/12/2011 18:06

I'll keep you company for another month at least Smile I can't afford an autumn baby (already 5 in immediate family!!) so we are aiming for advent lol!

Still a total nightmare trying to get my rubella checked but more determined as we have an outbreak locally at the moment, and "spotty" kids coughing on me at work Angry but the last of the house improvements are done, sil and me are going through what I want her to keep, just the waiting now arghhhh

Awayinamangercooper · 03/12/2011 17:54

Or just join the September bus!

Awayinamangercooper · 03/12/2011 17:52

Angelico it's partly because a lot of people are trying for a September or later baby to avoid being the youngest in the school year, and a lot of people start trying around Christmas cause it's a family time of year that makes us all broody!

With so many people leaving this thread at the same time, it would probably make sense for one of you to start a "moving on" thread in conception and link to it from here, so that you can move on as a team.

I shall be sticking around keeping the old home fires burning, this is now my third year of waiting.

Angelico · 03/12/2011 17:21

Hello all! Bit disturbed that people are leaving the board! Where do you go to when you actually start TTC? AF due in a few days and then after that - bam! We'll be starting! Do you go to some other thread then?

Bye bye and good luck to the board leavers - maybe see you on wherever else we go after here?!

Awayinamangercooper · 03/12/2011 17:18

nenehoo I never stopped waking early when I was temping, that's why I stopped in the end. I could never decide whether to temp too early or go back to sleep but then temp after too short a time sleeping. My chart was erratic and I got fed up and overtired!

Awayinamangercooper · 03/12/2011 17:17

Oh my goodness, everyone's leaving to do the January TTC thing!!! Is anyone sticking around to keep me company? Someone needs to feed the gruffalo and keep Jake and George in a job!

Seriously, good luck to everyone setting off on the TTC journey! Hope you all get your BFPs really quickly, and have lovely LOs come the Autumn.

MissPentChristmasBudget and HowIwonder welcome to the thread! The time will fly by. I can't believe it's nearly Christmas after it was only just summer. No doubt spring will creep up on us just as fast.

Peggypatch you shouldn't have to do it from memory, the most certain sign is the wetness and EWCM. Your next cycle might be completely different from the last ones you've had. Good luck!

Zara nice work with the student loan. Mine will soon be paid off (well my professional loan anyway, the student loan can wait!) Thanks for waiting with us, and all the best for TTC!

LydiaWickham (I still love your nname!) oh if only I could train DH to say "whatever you want darling"! Good luck with TTC #2!

nenehoo when is your date for hopefully starting TTC?

News from me is that the new job seems to be going well, and everyone is lovely so far. I qualify for enhanced maternity pay from mid April, and my pay should go up a bit in May. DH and I are hoping to start house hunting around April/May time, as we've almost got the deposit saved up and as we're about to start ttc (sort of sometime maybe) it would be nice to have a bit more securtity and not have to worry that our landlord might decide to turf us out with a month's notice.

Our big trip to the USA is booked for 5 May, so five months from now we could be TTC in Vegas!

nenehooo · 03/12/2011 09:02

Bye bye Zara good luck, good luck, we all wish you good luuuuuuuuuuuck!!!
Anyone else charting and driving themselves slightly crazy with it?! FF is now saying I've ov'd again on day 16, but I have very short cycles so AF due around the 9th, meaning a luteal phase of 9 days. I thought I ov'd around day 11, but then had a temp dip so computer said no. I don't know what to think.
On the plus side, temping is helping to wake me up in the morning (bit too excited to do it - sure the novelty will wear off!) and it's all helping me to not get too absorbed in Nativity hell work. Thinking about making a child of your own to look after sure does put teaching other peoples' into perspective, much as I love them Xmas Grin

LydiaWickham · 02/12/2011 19:59

Bye Zara!

Am on the count down, AF due next week, once that's out of the way, we're TTC. We were giving DS his bath tonight and DH said "this time next month we'll be trying for another one, odd." I told him it was happening sooner than that. He looked a little surprised, but just shrugged and said "whenever you want darling" so that's that sorted...

howiwonder · 02/12/2011 19:47

Hi All

after a bit of lurking, I thought it was about time to say hello. I'm planning on making a start TTC after xmas, already have a 21 month old DS.
have been waiting to get settled in a new job - and make sure I've worked there long enough to get the full maternity pay package (still not 100% sure on that one - kind of tricky to find out without telling everyone my plans!).

Anyway, have cracked open the folic acid and have started thinking about cutting down on alcohol... :)

exciting times!!

Zara1984 · 02/12/2011 11:14

Going to wave bye-bye to everyone here too ! Next week I will have paid off my student loan (the biggest impediment to our TTC), and as we're so close to last pre-TTC AF we decided to ditch the condoms anyway. So we're officially TTC now although really unlikely anything would happen in this last week before AF - no point any wishful thinking on my part!

Have jumped on a late Aug/early Sept train now... hopefully it's a lucky one!

This is such a great thread! So supportive :)

redstrawberry · 01/12/2011 21:18

oooo peggypatch excited for you ....hopefully see you on a bus soon :)
