Hey guys!! Have taken the big step of coming of the Pill to TTC another DC. This will be DC number 2 - already have DS who is 15 months old and a DSD who is 7 years. We have spoken about another baby for a while now but it has now become more of a reality now that we have decided to stop using any contraception!! I am so so excited but know all too well about this horrible waiting game of patience which seems to get worse even after a BFP as then it's the painful wait for a 12 week scan!! (although this time I may pay for a private scan) I have had a MC before DS was born so am also aware of not getting to ahead of myself...but I'm so excited nonetheless!! I bought my friend a little present for her brand new (with tags on) baby girl and was so so broody. Cant wait for my turn now!!

Sorry for the long warbling post. This is such a hard time, the pre TTC, the waiting for BFP or BFN etc etc...I am the most impatient person in the world as it is...and to not to be able to tell anyone in RL makes it even harder!!

Hope there will be some ladies in the same boat as me!! Look forward to meeting u and sharing journeys!!

Lots of love, Pip xx

Thanks for the lovely welcomes Smile, good luck to you all too.

The age gap will definitely have it's positives - free, live-in babysitter being the main one Grin

I'm currently on 2ww and have everything crossed!

CupOfBrownJoy · 17/10/2011 06:28

Morning everyone!

The bus is getting full now! Good luck to everyone Smile

Ok I have another thick question; I suffer from repeat uti's and after being advised by my doctor, I always have a quick shower after sex. Now, if I am rinsing away "down there", am I affecting my chances of conceiving? Probably being silly but I just wondered...

Als, does anyone else's DP own their own business? Mine started his just a couple of months ago and I'm beginning to wonder how he is going to make doctor's appointments etc as the business seems to need 24 hour a day care at the moment!

Have a good day ladies x

Feilefoo · 17/10/2011 02:56

I'd like to join too, if I may. trying for our first, we are pretty keen, we have had two misses, but we're going to try again. I have already determined that I need to stop the kaffe, a total bummer, but hey, it will be worth it.

BoscoWillHauntYourDreams · 17/10/2011 02:14

Can I hop on? First time on a bus! DS 5 already, started TTC on Tues so still very early days!

Goldenbrown1981 · 16/10/2011 22:57

hey tequilla

There's 9 year between me and my next brother, 13 between me and middle bro and 16 between me and biggest sis. It was awesome for me growing up as I had so many people spoiling looking after me. My and my big bro's were massively close growing up (sis is a different and long story but nothing to do with the gap!) and I got taken all over by them and their partners. I had plenty of people to talk to and felt so hugely loved my whole life, I hope it works out so well for you. i wouldn't change a thing

Sarah5656 · 16/10/2011 21:42

Yay new people! Grin

Hi Caffeinefiend- Good luck to you. One last baby, is this for a DS perhaps to make DP/DH not feel so left out!? Wink

Hi Moggle- good luck for next month, if you can wait that long! We were supposed to be waiting but got too excited ( in more way's then one Wink ) I get what you mean about your DH not being too interested in the whole period thing, Men just don't link the whole period to being able to conceive! Plus it means no sex for them for a week!

Hi KirrinIsland- Good luck to you too.
I have a 20 month age gap between my two and it's lovely. They are in adjacent school years and my DS looks after my DD who has just started reception, it's so sweet Smile but you need to have eyes in the back of your head, whilst you are busy feeding the baby or cleaning bottles or changing a nappy, little toddlers do have a tendency to get up to all sorts of mischief! Wink
But are also very helpful in their own little way!

Hi Goldenbrown1981- good luck to you also. Fingers crossed for you that this month is your month Smile

Hi Tequilamokinbat- good luck to you too. Hope to hear that this month is your month too, keeping my fingers crossed for you Smile
I think a 14 year age gap sounds lovely, although I haven't experienced that and do like the close age gap I have I could see how a big age gap would be great, you get to do the baby thing all over again, plus the added bonus of a live in babysitter Wink

Good luck to everyone over these next few weeks Grin

kirrinIsland · 16/10/2011 19:02

goldenbrown there's a part of me that would love twins too, but only a very small part :) I would have loved it first time round, but now I'm not so sure.
My mum definitely thought 2 babies were easier than a baby and toddler - at least while you're feeding one the other is where you left it - and not downstairs putting the kitten in the washing machine Grin

Welcome tequila - I'm sure it's quicker on the bus :)

Tequilamockinbat · 16/10/2011 15:52

Should probably add - been on the pill for 14 years since DD was born! Now TTC DC2, and yes I am mad for leaving such a huge gap!

Tequilamockinbat · 16/10/2011 15:51

Can I join the July bus please? I havent been on a bus before but stopped taking the pill in January, and still no BFP Sad

So, maybe if I jump on the bus, it'll speed things up Wink

Goldenbrown1981 · 16/10/2011 15:49

Oh, there's a part of me that would LOVE twins. I only want 2 (I think) and I kinda think (perhaps naively) that twins would be easier to handle than a toddler and a baby. But, as there are none in either of our families I guess it's unlikely.

kirrinIsland · 15/10/2011 21:39
CupOfBrownJoy · 15/10/2011 19:57

oh God my brothers are twins and my mum has said she wouldn't wish them on her worst enemy!!

I was also only 20 months when they were born (and a nightmare). My mum was under the GP I think for the first few months with the stress!

kirrinIsland · 15/10/2011 19:30

thanks cup - I've got all my old famous fives ready and waiting for DD - I'll be gutted a bit disappointed if she doesn't like them.
I can't decide if I am brave or stupid, but I have always wanted close age gaps so we're going for it. I'd love to have them in adjacent years at school - but it'd better happen quick for that to work out....

Seems to be a few people trying for number 3 - that's my optimum number, but I think I may be out-voted by DP who only wants 2. But there are twins in my family so perhaps I'll get my way!?

moggle · 15/10/2011 18:56

cup yes was on the pill nonstop all that time with no breaks apart from the weeks off... I went on Dianette when I was 17 for acne, then Yasmin since 23 or so. DH not too happy with condoms but it won't be long now :)
Been visiting BIL & his fiancé who are expecting at Christmas, so excited to be an aunty and makes me even more broody! Would love to have cousins close together in age, aww.

CupOfBrownJoy · 15/10/2011 17:54

we're picking up steam now!

Good luck to everyone this coming week - according to Google (and who doesn't trust Google?) my optimum few days starts on Wednesday, so fingers crossed! [hsmile]

Caffeinefiend · 15/10/2011 16:38

Can I Join? Mirena coil has been binned...trying for baby number 3 :)
Already have DD aged 4 (in a week) and DD aged 2 (next month) and decided to have one last baby.

Good luck all X

CupOfBrownJoy · 15/10/2011 15:31

Hi Goldenbrown, pull up a sofa, by all means! [hgrin]

Welcome!

Goldenbrown1981 · 15/10/2011 11:32

Hi guys can I join in?

I'm in month 3 of trying for DC1. really thought I was upduffed last month but it turns out I'm not, but this month is gonna be it.
Like Cupofbrownjoy I don't really have a clue about cycles and stuff like that but I'm learning. I find it ironic that I have gone through years of being so careful, convinced that one slip with contraception would = baby, I've had a bit of a shock at how long it can take.

CupOfBrownJoy · 15/10/2011 11:06

OMG Kirrin you're brave!!! Love the name btw, I've been reading Famous 5 to the children in class, they love it as much as I used to Smile

I might think about getting a digital monitor thing around Christmas if nothing has happened, although I am heartened by the news that you were pg after the first month - I hope were are as lucky as that! I'm off to buy some zinc tablets today.

I'm also trying to persuade DP to give up smoking although with mixed results so far...

I'm beginning to realise how complicated ttc is...! And for all these years I thought all you had to do was have sex! Blush

Hi moggie, welcome! Did you run your pills together for 10 years? I've always hated my regular as clockwork heavy periods (tmi!) but now I'm thinking I might be glad of them... sending lots of good luck thoughts to you for next month...

moggle · 15/10/2011 10:42

hello! I don't really belong here as we are not TTC #1 until next month (avoiding a July or August baby due to various reasons)... BUT! I'm another who can't tell anyone in RL so had to share... I came off the pill about sept 10th, after being on it for more than 10 years (blimey), and spent most of the past month convinced that I'd be one of the people who takes months to get their period back, especially as I was pretty irregular before I started the pill... Although that was SO LONG AGO I can hardly remember!
Anyway I have been taking evening primrose oil and Agnus castus to try and balance things out, and this morning I was woken by glorious pain... my period's here! YAY!
I did tell DH but he is far more interested in the rugby! Anyway I reckon next cycle we will start trying. Eeep! Will be looking out for that September bus!!

kirrinIsland · 15/10/2011 10:28

Hi everyone, mind if I join you? We've just started TTC number 2. DD is 9 months and I just got my period back so it's all systems go :)
cup me and my DP are the same agaes as you and yours and we conceived pretty quick - first month of trying first time round (mc) and then after 3 months, so you never know.
I've been using the ovulation calculator on here so I know when to try hardest but I think every 2-3 days is the recommended way. I used the clear blue digital monitor thingy first time round, which was great, but a friend has it now and her need is greater...

Vinolover · 15/10/2011 06:13

Thank you Sarah. I think positive thinking all the way :)
My ds has just turned 10 and my dd is nearly 7 (they're in years 5 and 2) so the age gap is going to be quite large! Will be like having my first again but with a hell of a lot more knowledge! I didn't have a clue when he was born, bless him. I just hope that because I haven't had a successful pregnancy in so long it wont hinder my chances. I know im only 29 but it's a lot older than the 22 year old I was when I had my dd.
I had a lot of trouble with the first mirena I had and eventually the drs decided I needed to have a general to have it removed and replaced (xmas last year) and whilst they were there they performed a hysteroscopy on me which didn't show anything untoward. Lets hope this means everything is still in working order ;)
Cup, you ask as many questions as you like! TTC is a very complicated thing indeed.
Xx

CupOfBrownJoy · 14/10/2011 22:01

That's exactly what I'm doing Sarah! Grin I am a repeat uti sufferer but I'm gritting my teeth and enjoying as much swi as I can lay my hands on Grin

Thanks for the info too x

Sarah5656 · 14/10/2011 21:55

To be honest I still do not understand the ovulation side of things! Blush

I just typed in google ovulation calculator and typed in the first day of my last period (4th Oct). I know I have a period every 4 weeks so I have a 28 day cycle. Once you know how often you have a period you know what cycle you have, most women have a 28 day cycle but not everyone.
It then gives you the most fertile days (when the egg is released and able to be fertilised). For me it said Sat 15th to Thur 20th Oct. So extra 'trying' for these days Wink

Hope you manage to work it out, it's all very confusing, best bet is probably to try as much as possible! (my DH likes this idea! Wink)

CupOfBrownJoy · 14/10/2011 21:06

Thanks Sarah, I have so many completely thick questions! The sister in my gp's surgery once put the phone down on me because I knew so little about ovulation and cycles... But then, until you need to know you live in blissful ignorance!

My thick question for today is; I'm on the last day of my period today. Do I presume I will ovulate 14 days after the first day of my period? How do I know exactly? I'm keeping a record so I can work out how long my cycle is. I don't even know Blush

Hope you feel better soon - I'm under the weather with a cold, but being a primary teacher I get every bug going!! Smile
