Hey guys!! Have taken the big step of coming of the Pill to TTC another DC. This will be DC number 2 - already have DS who is 15 months old and a DSD who is 7 years. We have spoken about another baby for a while now but it has now become more of a reality now that we have decided to stop using any contraception!! I am so so excited but know all too well about this horrible waiting game of patience which seems to get worse even after a BFP as then it's the painful wait for a 12 week scan!! (although this time I may pay for a private scan) I have had a MC before DS was born so am also aware of not getting to ahead of myself...but I'm so excited nonetheless!! I bought my friend a little present for her brand new (with tags on) baby girl and was so so broody. Cant wait for my turn now!!

Sorry for the long warbling post. This is such a hard time, the pre TTC, the waiting for BFP or BFN etc etc...I am the most impatient person in the world as it is...and to not to be able to tell anyone in RL makes it even harder!!

Hope there will be some ladies in the same boat as me!! Look forward to meeting u and sharing journeys!!

Lots of love, Pip xx

Oh and BTW - I will try adding you both to FB - but can I please ask that you not mention the TTC whatsoever yet as don't want to invite lots of comments [hgrin]

Fishpants · 26/10/2011 20:18

Vino Bahahahahaha @ the thought of being stopped on the way home. [hgrin]

CauldronOfBrownJoy · 26/10/2011 20:17

yeah but there's lots of people with your name on fb!

wannabemum24 · 26/10/2011 20:16

I think I pm'd fish and cauldron...did it work?

wannabemum24 · 26/10/2011 20:14

Thanks Kirrin It's so nice to be able to ask and talk about stuff like this :)

CauldronOfBrownJoy · 26/10/2011 20:13

ok I'm pm'ing everyone now with my fb details. I'm easy to find...

Vinolover · 26/10/2011 20:08

Me too :) Although, Im slightly more addicted to this than fb now!

fish that really does sound romantic! Imagine getting stopped and searched on your way home Shock.

Your dog sounds gorgeous wannabe. I have 2 shih tzu's and I absolutely adore them!

kirrinIsland · 26/10/2011 20:05

Gosh, I've missed a lot - my Internet went down yesterday, i didn't know what to do with myself.

cauldron I have 3 cocker spaniels - I love them :)
I've never heard of a jakawawa but it sounds very cute!

fish I've been doing a couple of opks a day at the moment [slightly obsessed]. I have heard (via the Internet, so it must be true) that the window for opks is quite narrow, it is quite possible for you to ovulate but for the test to miss it. Some people say they never got a positive, even in the cycle they got pregnant and so must have ovulated. Last time I used a clear blue digital monitor thing which was fab, but I've lent it to a friend who's been trying for ages so I can't ask for it back. They come up a lot on eBay though. They are better because they keep a track of your cycle for you, and because they detect LH and something else (I forget what) and so are more accurate - it'll tell you the best 3 days of your cycle to try.

wannabe day 14 for ovulation is for a 28 day cycle. I think, and I may be wrong (I often am but don't tell anyone), that you should count 14 days back from the last day of your cycle. There is something called the luteal phase, which apparently averages 14 days regardless of the length of your cycle. If you use the ov prediction thing on here it takes that into account and assumes 14 days unless you tell it otherwise - quite how you are supposed to know how long your luteal phase is I have no idea. I tend to just add a few extra days onto the beginning and end of the dates the predictor says.

Blimey, I've written an essay - sorry Blush

Fishpants · 26/10/2011 20:02

Are we making Facebook friends? Giz' a PM [hgrin]

Fishpants · 26/10/2011 20:01

Yay we have names!!

I hadn't actually thought of the connotations of my choice of username in the UK - as pants here in the US are trousers there...hm...a namechange due already??

CauldronOfBrownJoy · 26/10/2011 19:48

do you want to facebook wannabe? If so pm me and I'll send you my details Smile

wannabemum24 · 26/10/2011 19:36

Oh fish, I can't think of anything more romantic!!! Lol! Saying that, my DH just said "let's have sex tonight, I want to make a point I doing it more"! Love him!

DH is off to Barcelona tomorrow! It's an incentive that he won through work. He hates his job but these incentives help.

Cauldron I have a Jackawawa!! She is meant to be half jack russell and half chiwawa, but she looks and act just like a jack Russell. She is called Tilly and is 2. We love her!! She is the result of me being broody 2 years ago!

I do think it's funny that we call each other these names; Fish, Vino, Cauldron!!! I know people don't want to go too public in case family/friends work out who we are, but feel free to call me Emily Smile

Fishpants · 26/10/2011 19:00

Vino Yay you've validated my decision to go buy some more [hgrin]

He donates into the cup and then I have to leave it 15 minutes to liquefy, so he leaves after his biz is done and then I get myself into inseminating position

Although my dog has just had puppies and is positively god-awful right now so I'm going round to his place to collect tonight. The 15 minute liquefy period will be spent me driving back home, so I'll have to literally whip it into the syringe as soon as I get in the door Hmm

CauldronOfBrownJoy · 26/10/2011 18:39

sorry that was to wannabe!

CauldronOfBrownJoy · 26/10/2011 18:36

My DP doesn't go away with work, but we still live apart at the moment, so I only usually see him at weekends.

Its school holidays this week (I'm a teacher) so we have a whole blissful week together. We're waiting until I get pg to move in together, or the end of the school year, whichever is sooner...

Spend some quality time with the dog Smile. I have a cocker spaniel who keeps me company in the week. What do you have?

Vinolover · 26/10/2011 18:34

I would go and buy some more. I think you will just drive yourself crazy wondering what the results would have been. (I would anyway).

You must really have such a fantastic relationship with your friend! Does he do what he needs to and then you go strait in afterwards?

Fishpants · 26/10/2011 18:29

Vino & Cauldron on CD18, I'm on CD17!

I still am not sure if I've O'ed, so doing AI again tonight with donor. I'm really fighting an urge to go buy another box of ovulation sticks. I have 3 left, but I want to do them morning and afternoon for the next 2-3 days

What do you lot think?

wannabe If it took more than 3 months then I'd consider doing things the heathen way Grin but I really don't want to mess up our awesome friendship and I think that things would get really awkward that way. And yes I use a 10mL syringe that I got from the pharmacist and some sterile urine cups. Tis all very romantic, no? [hgrin]

wannabemum24 · 26/10/2011 18:05

Ah I see! A fertility surge eh?! Fingers crossed Grin So am I right that it is day 14 (for those who are regular off the pill) is when your body releases the egg?

My DH is going away tomorrow morning Sad Only for one night so I'm not dreading it, I just really like having him around. Gonna use the opportunity to spend some time with my parents (they only live 10 mins away) which will be nice. Other than that, chill out with the dog!

Do your DP's/DH's ever go away with work?

fish I am really sorry if this is too personal, but if it took a while to get pg via ai, would you consider just doing it with him or is that a total no no? Also, how does it work? Do you use a turkey baster type thing?!

CauldronOfBrownJoy · 26/10/2011 17:50

oh yes you might get the fabled "fertility surge"!!

CauldronOfBrownJoy · 26/10/2011 17:49

CD is cycle day. Count from the first day of AF.

I would have thought you'd get another light withdrawal bleed, just because I probably would. You can start counting your CD's from the first day of your withdrawal bleed I think.

I'm sure someone will be along to correct me if I'm wrong... Smile

Vinolover · 26/10/2011 17:48

I haven't been on the pill for absolutely ages so im not 100% sure about anymore bleeding you may have. You could possibly fall pregnant at any given time now but dating would be difficult. It's no biggy though, that's the beauty of scans :)

CD refers to cycle day.

wannabemum24 · 26/10/2011 17:45

Gosh! You lot know everything!! Awesome! Good news Cauldron :o

I have a question Blush I came off the pill on Sunday night and I had only been taking it for 8 days after my withdrawal bleed (been on the pill for about 3.5 years now). My question is this: I assume that I will have another withdrawal bleed soon, but after that am I likely to ovulate after it and if so when do I start counting to ovulation day?? Is it usually from day 1 of period (or in this case my withdrawal bleed) and day 14 would be the day I ovulate?

Also, what does CD refer to? Thanks!

Vinolover · 26/10/2011 17:38

Ooooh, thats the same as me :). No not silly at all!

CauldronOfBrownJoy · 26/10/2011 17:30

Ooh I'm CD 18 but I don't know yet exactly how long my cycle is.

I'm working on 28 days (is that daft?)

Vinolover · 26/10/2011 17:24

Cauldron I would say it would be way to early for them to tell :) The tests they use are more or less the same ones as the ones we get. You are certainly still in with a shot! What CD are you on?
