Morning all?well, I had a delightful 10 hours sleep last night as I was dropping off by 8:45pm and thought it must be time for bed Blush have just taken my normal folic acid this morning so will see if that helps, though am sure the extra sleep has helped as well TBH as do feel a bit better. Managed two slices of toast and marmite as well for breakfast which is good progress!

baby I went to the docs the day after I got my bfp this time as I had a stinking cold and wanted to double check what I could take etc. When I had the MMC they said that I should be able to get an early scan at 8 weeks. I was expecting to have to push for it but the doc said he would put it on the notes, and it?s now booked for next Thursday when I?ll be 8+2 so am v pleased. My best friend was saying that where she lives if you have an early scan you then have to wait all the way to 20 weeks for the next one Shock so really hoping that isn?t the case here as I might go loopy having to wait that long (though think we?d just pay and get a private one if we did!!). baby I would go and see your docs and get things moving, push for an early scan as much as possible. If all else fails the private ones are about £75-£100, I know cash is tight with all the house stuff but it might be worth it to give you both some comfort.

pebs great news about getting back to TTC before Christmas Smile really hope your cycle sorts itself out quickly!

poppy funny how something that should be good for us seems to cause a number of us real issues ? silly Pregnacare!! Hope all those pills start to kick into action soon!

summer well done for not testing, I do think it?s wise to wait, especially after what happened in August, it?s not risking worth putting yourself through that again!! Be Smile to get a bfp and have to deal with MIL and BFF though!! Glad DS is better and I?m sure he?ll be fine after your little ?discussion? this morning!!

IQ fantastic progress with your work situation ? well done for putting your foot down!! So sweet of your DH too?bet he?s missing you (both Grin ) loads!!

manda hope scan all good today!

missg have you a scan today as well? Hope all well if you have!

Still no news from marathon ?hellooooo?.are you ok???

Poppyjen · 12/10/2011 09:55

Summer definitely and categorically not a bad mother! Grin The very fact that you are worried about that tells you that you are not!

Hi all no news from me, CD6 and temp back down to pre-O level so we'll see over the next couple of weeks whether the constant supplement-popping has any effect!

Summerbird73 · 12/10/2011 09:32

oooops i meant to say a big HI to farfallarocks i recognised your name too and think it was from earlier on in the thread. so sorry it happened to you again

IQ your DH must be so Sad not to be with you, my DH was always a bit sad that he didnt come to my MW appointments with DS as it was in his work time as he wanted to hear the heartbeat. Anyway, when i had my 20 week scan i asked the MW if she could do a heartbeat check just so DH could hear it - she gladly obliged and he was almost in tears!! And yes you will panic with every single little ailment your LO gets! It does get easier as you get more and more advice from medical professionals etc

Had a manic morning, DS was clingy and weepy and wouldnt let me do my hair or make up for work, i managed it (just) but i look a fright - and i have just had my hair cut and need to 'work with it' for a few days Hmm I am sorry to say that DS and i had a mini falling out this morning, i told him to 'shut up and let mummy get ready' Blush am i a bad mother??! Neighbours are probably calling Child Line as we speak...

Popped on earlier to post an update but it closed on me and didn't post so have returned for round two this evening!!

Thanks everyone for your work based advice....a couple of updates from here:

  • work has been much better as I have just put my foot down and said I will be doing reduced hours, I won't be able to take on any further tasks until I catch up and have outlined the things that I simply can't do. I've now left it to them to sort out and WILL NOT be worrying myself about any of it....Grin!!!
  • I think I felt biscuit move today for the first time....a bit Confused because I'm not really sure whether it was too high to be the baby but I will keep you all posted.
  • heard from DH today to say that he'd received my e-mail with the clip of biscuits heartbeat and it nearly made him cry......he said that the baby was making him emotional and he couldn't wait to be home with both of us for cuddles and kisses.....I won't lie a I did fill up quite a bit reading that!!

eve the 16 weeks definitely feel like they've flown by but I think when your actually go through them it feels like all you do is think about symptoms, check your knickers and waver between feeling happy for a BFP and scared about how its all going to go.

shimmery dressmaking.....god I miss that - I used to have my machine out every weekend now its just upstairs gathering dust. I'm hoping that getting my bedding and curtains made will give me the kick I need to get back into it. What kind of thing did you make? Also symptoms??...I'm hoping so!!!

poppy totally understand what you mean about work moving to the back burner. Now things have become a bit better at work I feel less emotional and will be trying to keep my options open and see how it all goes. Hoping that all your pills are preparing a nice 'bed' for future beans!!

blue, manda, missg sorry your feeling so grim at the moment - it will get better I promise and knowing that the little bean is getting comfy should help you along the way!!

missg and manda sending you lots of positive and beany thoughts for tomorrow scans - I shall be holding your hand in spirit!!

summer glad your ds is feeling much better....I think once this little one arrives I will be a bag of nerves everytime they are unwell!!

pie glad the consultant was at sympathetic and was willing to look at your case properly. Eating well, taking supplements and SWI....sounds like a great way forward....hope this all brings you good news!!

farfall welcome back to the mosh pit - so sorry you have to be here. These are the best ladies you could ever want - they will be with you through POAS, hold your hand through scary early scans, encourage you when your feeling low, keep you going when your ready to give up on TTC and pass round the 'virtual' wine and chocolate to get you through the dreaded AF.

baby I was sent for an early scan because of not having an AF before my BFP. Once that happened I went in for my booking appointment - I think that was around the 10 week mark. They don't offer early scans around here other than my reason or if you have pain or bleeding. I know where my SIL is they have a walk in service between 8am and 9am but not many places offer that. The most important thing I think is that you actually have the midwife 'booking' appointment before 14 weeks!!

pebs sounding promising with DH wanting to start SWI before xmas!! Also good you have your folic acid covered and hoping your acupuncture starts to kick in for you soon.

Love to all!!! Xxx

Summerbird73 · 11/10/2011 20:48

Sorry i have been rubbish these last couple of weeks, i am lurking though honestly, and catching up with all the moshers/vomiters/metallers!

pie DS is much better thanks, he slept all day yesterday, then had a little bit of 'beekabix' (weetabix) for his tea, so we sent him to nursery today, apparently the lunch was curry and rice Hmm but he wolfed it down and asked for more! Confused Your fertility appointment sounds really promising, mahoosive fingers crossed Smile

baby i had intermittent symptoms with DS too, i actually found that eating made me feel better when i was feeling sick. and i sooo wanted to rearrange the due dates on the list too Wink i too am intrigued as to whether i have read your articles.......

loving mandas conversation with her DH Grin

well i am metalling, i am 9DPO (yes i know you would all have tested by now!) but i am leaving it until Wednesday next week as that is CD28, god knows what i will do if it is a BFP as we are at the MIL's and then onto my best friends house in London - both the MIL and BFF are wino's and will immediately guess if i turn down a glass of red - they know me too well!

but of course that is the big 'if' - must not metal

I might give them a call then and see what the situation is here. I strongly suspect you have to be referred though, but guess it's worth a try! When I had a tiny bit of spotting when I was pg I was told, by the EPU, to go to my GP who 'would refer if neccessary' which doesn't bode well for me just walking in.

I am not on Pregnacare, but am instead taking Tesco Vits for pregnancy (left over from last time.) What's the difference between Pregnacare and, er, cheaper one's...? I'd normally not be as careful but my diet has not been as good as normal due to the lack of kitchen situation so am taking extra vits all the time.

Poppyjen · 11/10/2011 19:54

baby when I was pregnant with DS I was able to go to a walk-in scan clinic at our then local EPU (Queen Elizabeth in Woolwich) - you just had to turn up and wait your turn (which could have been hours if they were busy). It might be worth giving your local hospital a call to see what the protocol is. In our new area I very much doubt that this is the case given I had to wait 2 days for a scan appointment after my MC.

Oh and Pregnacare made me feel so rough in the early weeks with DS that I stopped taking it. One memorable occasion I took it before I ate anything(I know I shouldn't have), left for work and as soon as I got there I was in the loo throwing up. That was the only time I was actually sick (as opposed to nauseous) and I blame it all on the pregnacare! There must be alternatives out there that are slightly less aggressive on delicate tummies!

babysaurus · 11/10/2011 18:58

Pebs sorry if I'm being thick, but are you saying you self referred to the EPU?

pebspop · 11/10/2011 18:51

hey ladies

still reading but not got too much to say at the moment!

i am on cd18 and still not seen a temp rise yet to signal ov. i have been going to accupuncture so was hoping my cycle would be perfect - too much to expect i suppose.

i was speaking to dh at weekend and he was starting to think about ttc before xmas -woo hoo!! i started taking my high dose folic acid to get things started. the consultant said i should get a couple of months in before i ttc but i am sure one month will do the trick! i have been taking my normal folic acid since may 2010 anyway!

baby i got two early scans in my last pregnancy. i just rang epu and they sorted it out. i don't think that kind of service is available everywhere from what i see on these forums though - hope you can get one.

welcome farfalla we have met on the recurrent mc testing thread!

hope everyone is ok and those beans aren't making you too sick!

babysaurus · 11/10/2011 17:27

So glad to hear that symptoms come and go. Mine are doing that, and aren't terribly strong when they are here either. I know it's very early days etc but after what happened last time it is hard to switch off. I realise I will probably regret saying this, but I almost wish I did have hideous nausea etc as at least I'd feel something other than moderately (compared to normal) tired!

Last time I contacted the midwife at the GP's surgery almost the day after I found out as I wanted to be referred to the hospital on account of being a Type 1 diabetic (sorry to always drone on about the different types, they are hugely different though!) but this time I have not. On one hand I don't want to tempt fate by jumping the gun to soon, and on the other hand I also don't want to be subsequently harassed into seeing the consultant anyway and having lengthy appointments (ave 3 hours) to get 'advice' I don't need. The last time my sugar levels went up hugely and I had to up my insulin big time. The apt I had with the consultant though consisted of him telling me I didn't know what doses of insulin to inject normally and to go away and come back in a week with a list of what I ate when and what insulin I took. The REAL reason I had high sugar levels is because insulin is a hormone and the body can become resistant to it, hence I need to inject more and tweak doses as neccessary. The consultant eventually said this was the right thing to do but if I had listened to him in the first place instead of taking matters into my own hands I would have had two weeks of high sugar levels which would have been very bad indeed before I would have been 'told' to adjust doses. Hence, I am perfectly capable of altering things myself - and one size does not fit all anyway so things are very much triak and error. I am doing fine though, a perfect patient I might smugly say! Hence, to cut a long story short, the consultant doesn't listen and makes assumptions all the time and, basically, I know my own body far better than he does and can look after myself.

Sorry - bit dull I realise but it helps to get things off my chest if nothing else!

So, in short, when do you think I do need to go and book in with the midwife and get referred for a scan etc? I am also wondering how easy it is to get a scan at, say, 8 or 9 weeks, instead of waiting till week 12? Experiences and opinions would be good to hear, thanks!

farfallarocks · 11/10/2011 15:24

pie we have 'met' on several threads, I am so sorry to hear about FSH levels but looks like you are making progress!!!

BlueCrane · 11/10/2011 14:36

manda and farfalla thanks...think I'm going to stick to plain old folic acid for the rest of the week as I still have about 10 of those left in the bottle so will see whether that makes a difference. I must say that my beef hula hoops did make me feel a bit better earlier (I never normally eat crisps Blush ) and I've managed a whole jacket potato for lunch [proud face] and do feel quite a lot more human than I did yesterday. manda I do sympathise with the can't eat thing though and no wonder you felt awful yesterday after so little sleep...how much longer will DS2 be BFing for now? My DH is trying his best to comprehend how awful I feel when the sicky feeling is there but I think unless you have it/have had it then it's impossible to fully comprehend!

baby try not to stress about fluctuating symptoms, mine have been on and off for the last few weeks...apparently it's normal, though no surprise you're metalling about it, I have been too!! If you're really lucky Hmm you'll end up feeling as rough as manda and I have been!

Right...back to actually managing to do some work before the nausea kicks in again in about 45mins...seems to go like clockwork in 2 hour slots whenever bean decides my tummy is empty and wants more food Confused

farfallarocks · 11/10/2011 12:50

Well hopefully not for good (as in forever)

I hope you start to feel better soon!

blue pregnacare made me feel very quesy indeed, I switched to Zita West (quite spenny though!)

farfallarocks · 11/10/2011 12:49

Hello yes I think I did briefly pop my head in after the first one.
I am hear for good now!

MandaHugNKiss · 11/10/2011 12:46

Any chance you ladies are going to add yourselves to the bfp list?

blue I think I mentioned this the other day. That is, suspecting Pregnacare in my increased/decreased sickness depending on whether I'd taken it or not. Yesterday was a totally cruddy day (started badly, mind, with DS2 feeing every hour from 2am and we hadn't even gone to sleep until after midnight when we finished watching ER in bed and SW no I ) Sickness was apparent from waking and just gradually increased until I was a sobbing mess by bedtime.

Several conversations yesterday between DP and I like this:

Me: I'm hungry
DP: What do you want? I'll go and get you anything you want.
Me: Nothing! I can't imagine eating anything and I feel SIIIIIICK!
DP: Confused

Trying to explain it as the worst hangover (with no fun the night before) and no idea how long it will last (or, worse, realising you potentially have weeks and weeks left of it) still doesn't seem to sink in. In his head, if you're hungry, you eat! I know it should be that simple and it makes me feel pathetic (hence me crying at bedtime!).

So, I've digressed a little. What I meant to say was I made a conscious effort to NOT take my pregnacare+ before bed last night as usual and today I feel... ok. Not great, just a vague background queasy. But the sort I CAN eat with. And when I didn't take it for a couple of days at the weekend I ended up feeling positively normal so...? I think I'll lay off it for a few days. I'm not even gonna buy folic acid as the greatest importance of that is in the first few weeks (even before bfp) when the spine starts to form and fold/close. that stage is over, so I'm not too worried about missing a few days or even a couple of weeks tbh (especially as with DD and DS1 I was young and ignorant naive and didn't take a SINGLE supplement (plus, barely ate for the whole pregnancy with DD. So, yeah, not worrying.))

Fall welcome! I also recognise you - did you briefly join before? Or perhaps I've just seen you around, as it were. Either way, I hope you can gain the support we've all felt from the thread.

Who asked about my scan tomorrow? Well, by MY dates from charting, I'll be 8+4. By LMP - which, as of now, is THEIR dates - 9+4. I only really chased it after feeling SO WELL at the weekend (after a huge row with DP) as I paid for a private scan last week but... well, I should really be on their radar too. And, another dose of reassurance isn't going to hurt me any!

Hey, marathon!! You out there, woman? We miss you and would like an update please!

babysaurus · 11/10/2011 12:18

oops! this bloody screen jumps about so this is tricky! I meant to say welcome to Farfall - sorry you mc'd but hopefully it won't be long before you are on the BFP list! I constantly have the symptoms / no symptoms thing going round my head. More stories about mild symptoms, or ones that come anD go would be very welcome!
Am leaving this post now as its hard to see what I am typing so it may well be utter gibberish. Will keep reading though and post properly when on the laptop

babysaurus · 11/10/2011 12:13

Hello, I am typing on my phone so this will be brief. Welcome

BlueCrane · 11/10/2011 10:49

Welcome farfallarocks I think I recognise your name from somewhere before, so sorry to hear of your MC's but welcome to the mosh pit!!

shimmery loving the concept of you ditching the pointy shoes in favour of biker boots Grin I actually quite like pointy shoes but they're no good for my feet Blush and not really suitable for working in the Construction Industry as I do...the guys think they're hilarious!! Glad to hear the timing for next month is good if no joy this time around...but let's keep up the PMA until evil Af appears!!

I clearly spoke too early about feeling a bit better as feeling rough again from 10am onwards... but now wondering whether my pregnacare might be the culprit as I seem to feel particularly nauseous about an hour - hour and a half after I've taken it so may try good old plain folic acid tomorrow and see whether that helps!

farfallarocks · 11/10/2011 10:38

shimmery I can totally relate to the relief of realising OV falls over a weekend. DH has quite a stressful job with early starts and can be a bit of a battle struggle to get in the SWI on a Monday for example!

ShimmeryPixie · 11/10/2011 10:33

Just to add to the metalling - I am also knackered.

ShimmeryPixie · 11/10/2011 10:32

Hi Farfalla welcome to the mosh pit. Good to see the strategic planning - I obsess do that myself!

Pie I am indeed in the 2WW. I am not hugely hopefuly (had a very emotional quite depressed day yesterday) but I have already worked out the timing for next month and it will be over a WEEKEND and marks the start of a week off for me. DH is on notice for Friday through Monday inclusive. This is very exciting, given that otherwise we have to wake up at 5am to DTD - we leave the house at 6:30 of a morning and my getting home at a reaonable hour is extremely unreliable.

I do have sore boobs though.

Poppy "It is wonderful not to have to wear tights and smart pointy shoes" - that must be where I am going wrong then...Grin I'm currently sporting a pair of biker boots and my roommate usuall wears what I call pirate boots! I never did get the hang of dressing for the office.

farfallarocks · 11/10/2011 10:09

Hello all can I join you (waves shyly)
I am 31, DH is 32. TTC #1 since March. Have had 2 mcs at 5 weeks, one in June and one in September.

I suspect low progesterone is the issue for me as my tests came back lowish at 20. FSH and LH normal and in proportion (6.4 and 5.9)
I have decided to have some tests privately and get the ball rolling and now awaiting results and also a scan. Consultant thinks my thyroid might be the problem so let's see.

I have been lurking for a while and very encouraged to see so many BFPs.
Am hoping we get our results back soon as we have been advised not to TTC until we get those back and we a strategically planned holiday in November that I would like to get SWI for!

Very interested to see all the focus on B vits and lengthening of luteal phases I might try that approach.

Has anyone tried natural progesterone cream?

BlueCrane · 11/10/2011 09:47

Sorry poppy for the confusion, you're right...it was pie oops... But I hope you get your referral quickly!

I seem to have come up with a bit of an anti-nausea strategy...biscuits at 5am and then again when getting up at 7am seem to have really helped and I even managed two bits of toast and marmite this morning too Smile now trying to enjoy my lemon and ginger tea though am not 100% sure I like it Hmm dare I try a ginger biscuit as well or am I going to end up gingered out so to speak?!?! Confused I do have mouthwash with me today though just in case of a re-run of yesterday's appointment with the toilet Blush

shimmery and summer how's the 2ww metalling going? Hope the mosh pit is keeping you suitably entertained

Poppyjen · 10/10/2011 22:07

ooh, typo - "perspective" obviously...

Poppyjen · 10/10/2011 22:06

Blue I think it was Pie with the appointment - I am off to GP this week hopefully to push for my referral...

What a lovely story about your friends - it puts everything into perspspective doesn't it. I get down sometimes looking at people with baby and toddler in tow but then I have to think I don't have a clue what it has taken to get them there!
