pie your TSH levels look excellent at 1.83
My consultant said you ideally need to be below 2.5 to conceive

All results back on 3rd November (!) Had the last blood test today and now waiting for dildocam in 2 weeks.

The consultant said likely plan of action if the tests confirm his thoughts is to start Thyroxine for my thyroid (my levels are 3.9) and supplement with progesterone from 2/3 days post ovulation. Will keep you posted!

I have also started on the B100, have not started AC as am nervous about it but worth a shot I suppose.

PieMistress · 13/10/2011 13:32

Hi! Hope everybody is well! :)

I was 'fortunate' enough in that there is a separate EPU where I live so didn't have to mix with any pregnant ladies. I do think that is utterly awful having to have a m/c scan at the same place as pregnancy scans.

I'm a bit [hconfused] now that I think back to my appt at the clinic on Monday. I got a +opk on Friday night and again on Saturday morning. We SWI on Fri and Saturday (and earlier on the in the week). When she scanned me on Monday afternoon she could see a full (rather than collapsed) follicle which indicated that I hadn't yet ovulated? So we SWI again on Monday night (but I was a bit Hmm because of all the vaseline that was on the dildo cam would stop the swimmers getting to where they need to be!). Anyway, does anybody know if, after ovulation the follicle collapses immediately or would you still be able to see it? She wasn't able to clarify if i'd ovulated or not and only said 'keep having sex just in case'. I'm probably reading too much into it I know! If I hadn't yet ovulated though then FF is out by a couple of days with my ov date.

They gave me my notes whilst I was waiting for the scan so I had a flick through and saw the referral from my GP who wrote that I was an 'anxious 38 year old' Shock but I guess she is right! Although i'm now 39

farfallarocks · 13/10/2011 12:35

summer no its St Mary's in Paddington, London. I actually liked the baby wall because it is a specialist centre for rec mc so all the babies there have been born after treatment, it gives me hope!

I can't believe you are scanned in the same place, so insensitive!
I was 'lucky' enough to go to the EPU at St Thomas' in London and its all totally separate from the normal antenatal screening bit. I have filled out the MC campaign bit and I must say I think St T's does seem to follow 'best practise', they were amazingly sensitive and kind. I can;t begin to imagine how awful it must be to be in that seituaion and have insenstivity to deal with to boot :(

Summerbird73 · 13/10/2011 12:30

farfallarocks would that be the one on Oxford Road? You mentioned earlier that it was Sad that i get nada support. Well i am South Mcr (Wythenshawe), they have just merged with Trafford Gen so they are bursting at the seams. I had to have my MC scan with all the lovely pregnant ladies wafting their scan pics about - along with all the happy baby pictures on the walls too Sad

FWIW - did you all partake in the MN Campaign (better miscarriage care) i filled in the form and made the points above.

Lots of wonderful scan news, that is fantastic :)

I have had final blood test at St Mary's this morning. Must admit I had a bit of a weep at their baby wall (wall full of photos) on the way out, sniff.

Summerbird73 · 13/10/2011 12:05

Oooo yes i was wishing for sickness when PG with DS, ho ho ho when it came it felt like the worst hangover ever!!! Lemon and Ginger tea seems to do the trick though.

missg well done on your essential maintenance. My mums friend would be proud (honestly she is in her 50s and is the most glamourous woman i know Smile )

just a quickie today - although i will have a liddle bit of eves birthday cake - Happy Birthday! more Thanks from me! V busy at work but will try and catch up later.

and lovely loveliness to missgs bouncing bean! loving the li'l one having a stretch - we all love a good stretch to get us going!

babysaurus · 13/10/2011 11:05

MissG your post, re the scan rather than the puking, brought a tear to my eye! It must be such a huge relief to see that everything is bunny hopping around just as it should. I second Blue about telling the other boss, having to run out and puke at an essential time would not be good!

Eve happy birthday from me too x

Blue it is very weird this wishing nausea on ourselves isn't it? Anyone who had never miscarried would think we were completely nuts!

I still have no major symptoms as such, although I did feel a bit weird and had to go to lay down for a bit. Does anyone else feel a bit sick if they have too much tea? I do, and felt like that yesterday despite only having had two, well spaced out, cups all day. However, that seemed to pass relatively quickly and I am now back to semi normal - I say semi as I am not sure how much of it is in my head.

According to my last AF I am 5 weeks tomorrow and the waiting seems utterly ENDLESS!

BlueCrane · 13/10/2011 09:16

missg Grin at your scan news and bouncing bunny hopping baby giraffe!!! Really hope you work out a plan for today re. your talk...I think telling the big boss has got to be the answer as you really don't want to have to run to the loo in the middle of the talk...or indeed be late having had to stop sooo many times on the way as you'll just feel so grim!!

I'm feeling a little more PMA this morning as feel queasy again...and was awake from 5am so think sleep is a BIG factor for me in the levels of nausea! Still going to keep my place in the padded room for a while longer as the pre-booking appointment (didn't have one last time as it was supposed to be the afternoon after my scan) and more importantly pre-scan nerves and panic are starting to creep in

Missgiraffe1 · 13/10/2011 07:59

Morning!

Sorry, another quick one. Am soooooo sick this monring, and am supposed to be giving a talk at lunchtime. really don't know if I'll be able to do it Confused. My boss would be understanding and step in for me, but he's off sick. Am scared of telling the big boss I don't feel well enough to do it SadNeed to travel 45 minutes to get there, which doesn't sound that far away, but when you're constantly boaking and need to be near a toilet at all times, it is!

Anyway, scan went great. Baby giraffe measures 3.7cm which puts me at 10 + 3 days, which is bang on with my dates (just shows the early scans can be several days out). Teensy was bunny hopping about, and stretching his/her arms, it was amazing! And we heard the heartbeat, which was fab. So happy! (although, we were stuck in traffic for 40 minute and were 25 minutes late for appointment, the first place I had to head as the toilet to barf!
Manda glad to hear all went well for you too! The feeling when you see them on that scraeen active and alive and well is just so fabulous, isn't it?

Oh, and Summer, you know me well Grin! Of course, I did some essential maintenance before going, and put on some nice knickers just incase the dildocam was necessary. However, how an 8 month pg lady can reach to fasten stocking to belt, I'll never know! Shock I can barely do the back ones just now! (Mind you, my special outfits are likely to be gathering dust for a while now Smile)

Will be back later to catch up on everyone's news.

babysaurus · 12/10/2011 22:45

Blue I cannot offer any advice other than to say I can sympathise completely. And, hopefully, this time in six months we'll look back and laugh over our neurosis!
From what I can gather, and I have been googling it like mad (as I too am in the padded cell), symptoms do come and go with amazing regularity, and also the severity of symptoms.
And that's what I keep telling myself CONSTANTLY!
Now, pass me that strait jacket and put some Slayer on Wink xx

PieMistress · 12/10/2011 19:32

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I had just written a lovely long post and the laptop ate it!

Will back later when i'm not very vexed about it!

Love to all xxx

BlueCrane · 12/10/2011 18:24

Aarghhhh!!! Need to snuggle up in the padded area for a while as having a bit of a metalling moment few hours Now, I should be pleased that I seem to have the nausea at bay today due to more sleep last night and swapping my pregnacare for basic folic acid...but as much as I hated the nausea at least I felt pregnant and it helped me not to metal...now however, I feel quite well and coupled with a few minor stomach cramps which are probably perfectly normal for 7+1 I am in full metal mode again Confused why oh why do we do this to ourselves and go round in such silly metalling circles Hmm please someone give me a good slap or something...

eve34 · 12/10/2011 17:48

Just a quick one to share the Endless amount of birthday cake I have. As I feel far to sick to eat anything I thought I would share with you ladies as you would understand.

Really hope everyone is keeping ok. Will catch up soon :-)

babysaurus · 12/10/2011 15:15

Ladies, you're right. I realise this, and probably realised it before too, but I think the early appointments when its SO early are freaking me out a bit! They do have to monitor things more thoroughly as I am diabetic, and I do resent being lumped into the 'bad control' catergory until proven otherwise, but I do also realise why.

I think it's, like I said, freaking me out a bit having to see an obst (will leave it there, forgot how to spell) / consultant / midwife / and dietitian at the hospital at a mere 6ish weeks. Ideally I would like to wait and see how things go and wait till 8 weeks and it's then not so 'official.' AFter all, it's not like they could stop an early MC, and I am also sorting out my own medication so it's not like I need them to do that for me.
Oh well. Sighs...

Am also wondering if my hormones are a bit all over the place as capable of bursting into tears over bugger all today Blush

Manda delighted to hear your scan went well! Grin And thank you for your wise words (again!) x

MissG I hope yours goes well too. I can totally sympathise with you when you say this pg is all you can think about; me too! I keep wanting to 'window shop' and think about what I may be feeling like / doing in, say, four months time but then I stop myself and have a blind panic! The first twelve weeks are fricking awful aren't they? Even if you haven't previously MC'd. Before I got pg I obsessed with ov dates etc and now all I can think of is getting to 12 weeks. Shame I can't just chill out with a large glass of white wine....

So, Blue, it's the scan next Thursday is it? How exciting! I am two weeks behind you in dates so will hopefully not be too far behind re scans either. (The midwife did, I think, mention early scans but I think it's up to the obst (I may be wrong.)

Summer I am amazed to hear about your mums friend with her stockings etc! Personally, I wear quite a lot of smock / tunic style dresses anyway so I can't see me needing to alter my personal style too much. (I have never owned a suit, I am proud to say, coming from a notoriously scruffy profession does have some advantages!)

farfallarocks · 12/10/2011 14:37

Thank you for all the welcomes!

manda what fantastic news, 2 cm!!

baby I know what you mean, its much harder to bury your head in the sand if you have to start wit the medical appointents that bit earlier. But at least you will be getting the gold standard of care (hopefully)

pebs great news about the one to one midwife, I have read that can make a huge amount of difference to birth outcomes.

summer I am so suprised there is no special treatment for you!

giraffe FX for your scan!
I am waiting for all the test results now, won;t know the result of some until 3rd November and not trying before then which is frustrating!!

BlueCrane · 12/10/2011 14:16

Yeah to 2cm of bouncyness manda Grin I can't quite believe that I could see something like that next Thursday Shock eeek, not sure I can even begin to comprehend it TBH...I'll be 8+2 then.

Think I'm definitely going to save my pregnacare for post first trimester/sickyness and stick to good old folic acid...feel so so much better today. Sorry to make you Envy re. my sleep last night girls...I'm going to enjoy it whilst I can though because as soon as little bean pops out then the option of 10 hours sleep in one night will be gone for a loooong time I'm sure!!

missg thinking of you this afternoon!!

summer LOL at your Mum's friend who managed to stay that dolled up all the way through...think it's more likely that i'll be like you in my comfy pants!!

baby think the others have given excellent advice...hang in there and make the most of the extra care you can get...it may work to your advantage for early scans etc Wink

PieMistress · 12/10/2011 13:46

manda FANTASTIC! Here's to 2cm of teeny bouncing loveliness! Grin
x

Poppyjen · 12/10/2011 13:23

Manda congratulations that is fantastic news - I got all emotional when I read about your teeny tiny baby wriggling around in there Grin reminds me of the moment I saw DS at 12 week scan he was wriggling like a tiny caterpillar and I just couldn't believe it!

MissG thinking about you too - hope all is well Smile

baby as Manda says, try to think of it as more TLC for you and your little one, it may be irritating but at least you know you're getting lots of attention which will be good in the long run! You'll just have to be firm and clear when you tell them you know what you're doing, and explain what happened last time. Manda is right, so many people don't look after themselves or their unborn babies I guess the mw just need to make sure they adopt a belt and braces approach. I hope that you feel more positive about it soon Smile

Summerbird73 · 12/10/2011 13:19

baby i couldnt have put it better than manda has. i work in medical regulation (not midwives but not far off) and i can confirm that they would be in serious trouble if they are not acting quick regarding your condition. just let them go with it. it is good that you are being monitored more closely. Where i live i have no chance in hell of getting an early scan or monitoring. Our EPU is so busy as they merged with another maternity unit last year, i was told i would still have a scan at 14 weeks and if i want an earlier one i have to have a private scan and my booking in appt at 9 weeks is the same as everyone elses. Regardless of the MC Sad

manda yayyyy to 2cm of bouncing loveliness!!

good luck missg hope you have done your hair and remembered your lippie - you are Mad Men/Desperate Housewives still you know my mums friend used to go to her ante natal MW appointments in stockings and suspenders even at 8month pg! Shock the MW apparantly said she was sooo proud of her for still wanting to be sexy Hmm me on the other hand wore my H&M maternity knickers and tights Blush and looked like my nanna!!

OP posts:
MandaHugNKiss · 12/10/2011 13:11

baby I know you know from experience last time that you don't actually need to see the consultant right now, or his/her advice wrt to your dosing, but to a degree you need to let go. The midwives are only interested in doing what they HAVE to do to give you (as far as they are concerned) the best care you deserve and because, y'know, their jobs are on the line if they don't do it properly! They're right, they're not experts when it comes to diabetes... but the good news is, given you've lived with it so long, is that you are! SO! Stop your moping woman! You have a condition that makes things a bit more awkward for you... but you will be taking good care of yourself so whilst you know it's not an issue as such for you just accept that in the medical community it is considered an issue (probably because many other diabetics aren't quite as diligent about their condition - I know one, who, well I can't understand how he's still alive!) and let them fuss.

Now I've told you off, have a Grin

pebs Good that DH is on board and you're now taking your high dose folic acid. Remember a late O, whilst frustrating to wait for, isn't a bad thing. I have high hopes for you getting a bfp quickly and taking your baby home!

MissG Thanks - rightbackatcha! Hoping to see good news update from you asap!

IQ Good news on the work front.

blue Envy at your ten hours sleep. Man, that sounds like heaven! I felt a bit ropey this morning but nowhere near the 'crying cos I feel so shite' levels it was so I'm blaming pregnacare too! I do know that they agree with me fine once the first tri is over - I've been taking it virtually non stop since june 2009 when I conceived DS2

Onto my good news update. Baby is fine. Measuring 8+4 (vs my expectation of 8+5 - I think I messed up my dates yesterday) and moving!! Measured 19.8mm... my mind just boggles at the size of a tiny baby just under 2cm bouncing about!

Missgiraffe1 · 12/10/2011 12:26

Hi all,

Just dropping in quickly. Yep, scan later this afternoon. Wish I could be more excited rather than nervous. Manda good luck with yours. Am thinking of you, hope you are managing to keep calm.

Wit be great if we could just whizz quickly to the 12 week mark with no fuss and no pressure? This pg is ALL I can bloody think about! One minute I'm thinking ahead to maternity clothes and planning my leave, the next I'm chastising myself for being so stupid. It's not stupid, I know. It's just that, post-MC, the early days are a whole different kettle of fish Sad

babysaurus · 12/10/2011 11:37

Hi all,
I feel quite gloomy but not sure why. I went to get a flu jab (don't norrmally bother, but as I am now pg thought it would be wise) and popped downstairs to the ante-natal session to ask about booking in. As soon as I mentioned being a Type 1 diabetic everyone seemed to leap to their feet and words like 'urgent' 'fast track' and 'consultant' were bandied about. I explained that the 3+ hour apt (if the last time was anything to go by) wasn't really neccessary as I am sorting out my adjustments in medication myself but the, lovely, midwife said they HAVE to refer asap as they don't specialise in diabetes.
I think I am gloomy as I didn't want all this so soon; it is just making me all the more nervous.

BlueCrane · 12/10/2011 10:50

Feeling quite Grin as I have made it through the 10-10:40am window without a dash to the loo thinking i'm going to puke!!! Seems as though the extra sleep and plain old folic acid rather than the pregnacare might've done the trick!!! I am even slowly sipping a cup of tea which is real progress (must say it doesn't taste amazing but it's at least a hot drink)!!! Sorry, amazing what little things are suddenly exciting!

pebs so glad that you will get good care, extra scans etc when you do get your bfp...that must be such a comfort as finding out about MC late on must've just been awful. Hoping you get to Ov soon though!!

Must actually do some work... Blush

pebspop · 12/10/2011 10:29

eve yes i did refer myself to epu. when i had my first mc the nurse (mw?) at epu told me to ring her when i got my next bfp and she would sort me out with the early scans - i never went to the gp to get the second bfp confirmed.

i thought it was a bit strange but i rang and they got me booked in the next week. they said i could go every week/two weeks if i wanted so i had one at 6 weeks and one at 8 weeks. thought i would be ok after that so didn't go again......

now that i have had another mc, next time i get bfp i will be getting scans every two weeks (which i will attend this time) and i will have my own midwife who i can see every week if i want to rather than seeing a different midwife just at booking, 16 weeks etc. i think i am getting this special treatment as i had a late mc. this midwife will also deliver the baby. not bad for the nhs eh!

i think i will have a scan every two weeks and see my midwife every two weeks alternatley. not sure what my boss will say though! definatley need the regular scans though as i didn't know i mc'd until 20 weeks and it had happened 3/4 weeks earlier.

i am on cd 18 today and not seen the ov rise yet - why is my body so crap? saying that when i got bfp last time i must have ov'd around cd25 or even later as i thought af was due but she never came.

Summerbird73 · 12/10/2011 10:16

poppy DH reckons it was hilarious as both me and DS were in a right strop this morning. He couldnt wait to get out the house! I said how Smile it is that my li'l boy and i have our strops in tandem!!

blue i agree it will be lovely to try and hide a BFP from MIL and BFF - although i will clearly tell them as-they-will-send-out-for-the-emergency-doctors-if-i-refuse-a-glass-of Wine Wink

and i am very Envy of your 10 hours sleep! i did that too in the early stages with DS
