Thanks for the info...will give the docs a call in a mo as they didn't give me one when I went in to register my bfp! I could always pop in and pick up the form once it's been signed...will make the whole experience a lot better on Monday if I don't have to pay for it as depending what needs to be done it could get expensive!!! Just hope I'm not feeling sick on Monday as having the dentist fiddling around will then be even more hideous than normal!!

MandaHugNKiss · 14/10/2011 11:15

blue x posted with you. I think dentists don't really like to mess around with amalgam/mercury fillings whilst you're pregnant as replacing them releases tiny amounts into your system = not good for baby but that knowledge of mine is from years ago - could be dentists have since developed methods to avoid that. In short, I suppose the advice of a dentist is best in this situation. As for charges, my doctor filled in my exemption certificate as soon as I told her I had my bfp (and it's a different certificate from the MATB1 which I thnk you need to show empoyers when you're due?). It arrived about five days later. SO! Call your dr's reception and explain you need the maternity exemption certificate (MatEX) and I think they should be able to arrange for the doctor to sign it when they have a moment, then you can sign it too and they'll send it off.

farfallarocks · 14/10/2011 11:14

Thanks manda :) Glad you are feeling better

bluecrane I got the exemption form straight away from my GP, you don;t have to wait until the 12 week scan.

MandaHugNKiss · 14/10/2011 11:04

Welcome TWW. Your story sounds heartbreakingly similar to mine - mmc, induction of labour at 16+5 after baby had passed about two weeks before, shortly after a fabulous nt scan. I know every loss comes as a shock, but when you've passed what is, in general terms, thought of as the real danger stage it comes as a huge blow. Speaking from my own experience, I felt so desperately empty and missed my baby so much I had an urgent need to get pregnant almost immediately to try and salve that feeling... but, with just 6 months between that time and now (and a bfp five weeks ago) I have to say I think I really needed the time to grieve for my little boy first. And, anyway, my body took five whole cycles to sort itself out (but I am a bit of a gimmer at almost 38!) to you. It's a tough time. So you've had your first af since the loss? Did you have an signs of ovulation this cycle?

blue It's bloody hard to try and appreciate the good days/hours. Vicious circle of 'Ugh I feel crap/that's good! Wait, I feel better/yay!, Oh no, I've felt ok for a while now/METAL!!' I was blubbling again last night about feeling so awful - how to explain feeling starving but the thought of ANY food suggested to you (and there was a LOT) makes you wanna run to the toilet to barf.

eve ditto, poppy nothing wrong with beans/cheese on toast! Stop with The Guilt, woman! You're doing the best you can with The Sickness (and better than me, by the sounds of it - the thought of feeding DS2 yesterday also sent me off into tears, could. Not. Face. It. (DP took over, DS2 didn't starve!)) Also, belated birthday wishes - was it fun, despite feeling cruddy?

BlueCrane · 14/10/2011 11:01

Hmm need some advice...bit of a back molar tooth or filling (not sure which) has just fallen out, not in pain but obviously need to get it sorted. Have just booked a dentist appointment for Monday but am not sure what they are/aren't allowed to do when you're pregnant? Also, I won't have my excemption certificate at that point so guessing I'm going to have to pay for it as well??? When do you get the MATB1 (or whatever it's called) from the MW to use to get free dental treatment...is it after 12 weeks or at the booking appointment? Grrrr...and just as I was having a better day!!

BlueCrane · 14/10/2011 10:13

Morning all

I am feeling less sick today and have decided that I am going to enjoy it rather than stress about it as I did on Wednesday - so nice to have a non-fuzzy brain for a little while Smile Had an awful over-emotional evening last night but think getting it all out of my system, having a good cry and talking to DH about everything that I had got myself stressed about has helped!

twoweekwonder so sorry to hear about your MMC...please make yourself comfy in the padded area of our lovely thread and help yourself to cakes and Brew and the odd Wine / tipple if you feel the need!! These ladies have been a real lifeline over the last few weeks and really helped keep me sane!!

missg how did you get on yesterday with your talk?

eve we must be due around the same time as I will be 8wks on Tuesday when we go for our booking appointment. I have an early scan next Thursday but we didn't get past 5-6weeks last time with the MMC so it will be a huge relief to see a bean and hopefully a heatbeat not that I will fully relax even after that

baby how are you doing today?

Two week waiters and indeed everyone else...help yourself to cake and Brew

Poppyjen · 14/10/2011 10:00

eve beans and cheese on toast is a splendid tea - not a bad mummy at all Grin very nutritious and delicious! Very excited on your behalf re carpets - can't wait to have ours done its long overdue...

Far Hope that the B100 has done the trick - sounds very promising! I am hoping I have a similar success Smile

CD8 today and AF has only just finished Shock she really eeks it out sometimes! Told DH last night that it is back to SWI bootcamp tonight and that we'll be throwing everything we've got at it this month...he looked very pleased with himself Wink

Happy Friday everyone!

PS - anyone with DC already, can I just ask, is it just me or is Numberjacks one of the more bizarre programmes on TV???

eve34 · 14/10/2011 09:43

Morning all

I will try to catch up but at my age it is a bit of a haze.

Welcome to FFrocks and 2WkWonder I really am so sorry that you have had to join us, but feel this is a really positive place to be look at all the BFP we have. And we understand how hard the hard days are.

Manda - so pleased to hear your scan went well. I am due at the doctors week on Monday so should be 8 weeks by then, not sure if I will get an early scan or not. I keep wondering if we should pay for one, but as we got to 11 weeks last time I don't think it is worth it.

Miss G - glad all is well with your scan. Did you manage to do your talk for work?

Summer - have you tested yet???

Pie 39 is the new 30 you know.

Baby - hope you are keeping ok, I can not add anything more than what has been said let the professionals do their job, smile and nod!

Nothing to report here, Feeling slightly less sick today, I had to go shopping yesterday and I couldn't even face that. DS got beans and cheese on toast for tea. Bad mummy. I do keep thinking yeah for morning sickness just wish is was more bearable. I have to travel to London next week and I am dreading it. It is for my appraisal so have to go.

Anyway it is the weekend and we are having new carpets fitted today. Can't wait I am ashamed of the one I have in my lounge. Hope everyone has a great weekend

farfallarocks · 14/10/2011 09:30

Welcome twoweek, big sqeeze to you this morning and so sorry for your loss.

To the progesterone crew, pie and poppy and manda I am 10 DPO, no cramping and no spotting. This is a first for me and I wondering if the b100 could have worked its magic already?

We are not TTC until November and the test results but am feeling encouraged!

PieMistress · 14/10/2011 08:31

Welcome to a lovely thread twoweekwonder, sorry to hear about your MMC. Fingers crossed you get a bfp next week! We are here for hand holding, symptom spotting and general metalling! x

Poppyjen · 14/10/2011 08:25

Hi TwoWeekWonder so sorry you find yourself here, but pleased to meet you Smile These are some of the loveliest ladies - such a supportive crowd. Fingers crossed that you get your BFP next week, but if not we'll be here for you until you do!

babysaurus · 14/10/2011 00:08

TwoWeekWonder lovely for you to join us, although very sad to hear of your MMC. (I had one in July but the baby had stopped developing at 6ish weeks, although we didn't find out till the 12 week scan as everything else continued developing normally.
As for hand holding, it goes without saying! x

TwoWeekWonder · 13/10/2011 22:36

Hello Ladies, may I join you please?

I had a mmc in August, thought I was 17 weeks pregnant, but baby died at 13.5, probably a few days after the scan. Have not been sure about whether I wanted to TTC again, but had half hearted attempt this month, and now obsessing on 2ww. Already have 1 DD.

AF due 18 October (ish?). Keep thinking I might be pregnant, but also think I might be wishfully imagining symptoms. Think I need some hand holding whatever the outcome next week tbh.

PieMistress · 13/10/2011 22:07

poppy I would ask at the practice for a GP that specialises in reproductive health. I went to see them before my m/c as we were on our 6th cycle TTC no.2. She agreed to do progesterone tests that month, then refer me. I got a bfp that month but had the miscarriage. I went back to see her in August (3 months after the m/c) and was in floods of tears. She agreed to refer me (I think mostly because of my age and how upset I was) and said it was a 3 month wait for an appointment (but it wasn't, it's 6 months although I was fortunate to get a cancellation).

You could ask for a referral to a gynae, rather than a fertility clinic (I think) as they should have PCOS knowledge (??). The key is finding a sympathetic GP who won't fob you off with 'try for a year then come back'. Is clomid something they prescribe for PCOS? I think the speil about no NHS resources if you have one child is for IVF.

That sounds like a lovely dream by the way! Made me a bit emotional!

far had a lovely acu session tonight. The treatment in itself makes me feel so much better and I enjoy a power nap! He put one in my ear tonight for the first time to help relax me as i'm having terrible bother sleeping at the moment. Have been awake since 5am every morning this week and I can't even blame DS!

Poppyjen · 13/10/2011 21:03

Thanks Far ! Haven't yet managed to call them to make the appointment, I think I am subconsciously putting it off because I really don't know what to say to them. Not sure how to go about asking for help, last time I tried a direct approach and asked for a referral I was most definitely fobbed off - that's when I got the spiel about there not being any NHS resources for fertility treatment as I already have a child. I didn't even mention fertility treatment (I really hope we don't have to go there...) I just wanted to talk to a specialist about my PCOS!

Anyway if anyone has any ideas for a softly softly (but firm) approach then please share with me Grin

Hope all those with bouncing beans are feeling well tonight, and that the rest of us are managing to keep our PMA on track Smile

I had a lovely dream last night that one of you had your baby and we were all trying to work out how we could send flowers whilst keeping MN splendid anonymity.... there's a lot to look forward to!

farfallarocks · 13/10/2011 17:49

Pleasure poppyjen, pleased that my obsessive googling might be helpful although I do sometimes worry that I know too much and manage to convince myself I have every problem going.

36 days to O, wow , that does seem long but I think spotting 10 dpo is fine?
Some peopel seem to think lp is not a problem at all. Good luck with the GP!

pie I am having accupuncture, she also focuses on getting blood to the area. I think in Chinese medicine they see luteal phase problems more wholistically.
I don't use FF, just OPKs but I get sore boobs the day after the OPK so am pretty sure I am ovulating very close to :)

No mention of HSG or Lap, just a scan. He seems fairly convinced my issue is hormonal rather than structural problem with tubes etc. Time will tell

Sorry for progesterone hijack!

Poppyjen · 13/10/2011 17:41

Pie and Far my LP is currently 11 days with spotting at 10dpo - starting to worry about this. Definitely on my list of things to speak to GP about. First part of cycle is too long (36 days to O) and latter part too short - I just can't win! Bah!

Very interesting article Far thanks for sharing Smile

PieMistress · 13/10/2011 17:38

far are you trying acupuncture? I spoke to my acupuncturist about my low progesterone (which he pretty much poo pooed as being a problem!). He has been working on increasing my blood flow to my uterus the past few sessions so i'm hoping that's what has helped with my lining? I normally start spotting at 11dpo. Do you use FF? I don't know if I would risk clomid TBH, but it's hard to say though. Did your consultant mention HSG or a lap?

Sorry for hi-jacking the thread with hormone level woes [hsad]

farfallarocks · 13/10/2011 17:31

Mine is now 11/12 days BUT I get cramping and spotting from anywhere between 2-4 days before AF so things are breaking down a lot sooner.

Its still a definite improvement on the 9 day phase with spotting 4 days before AF that I used to get. I also had 24 day cycles and now they are 27 days so getting better! Maybe my body is just taking a while to regulate post pill?

Great about your lining and signs of ovulation, that is all encouraging. I had not realised the high FSH and clomid connection. Gah! Its so hard isn;t it as consultants all have their own theories and plans and we have to navigate it ourselves and amost self-diagnose (very dangerous indeed!)

PieMistress · 13/10/2011 17:13

far what is your normal luteal phase? Mine is 11/12 days which isn't ideal, but not terribly terribly bad either? I conceived DS with the same luteal phase (but was younger!!). That link is very interesting. I've read though that they don't like to prescribe clomid if you have high FSH levels as it makes your ovaries work even harder, and, even bring on premature menopause?! It's mind boggling isn't it! The sonographer did say my lining was nice and thick on Monday (around about time of ovulation) but not sure if that means anything!

I get +opks, a distinct temperature rise every month, plenty of EWCM and a bit of pain on one side so am pretty sure I ovulate. I think it might just be poor quality eggs though (not got a scooby!). I guess i've got to be realistic in a way as am 40 next year! PAH!

farfallarocks · 13/10/2011 15:20

poppygen I can relate to the neon pee!!!

farfallarocks · 13/10/2011 15:20

My level was 20.

I am defo ovulating but lining is coming away too early for the beans to implant!

Had a repeat test on Tuesday and very curious to see the result because my luteal phase does seem longer now.

I am taking the B100, my ferritin was on the low side of normal so thought I would give it a boost!

I have also thought better of ordering prog cream on the net although I have done a fair bit of research and bought the book Natural Progesterone by JOhn Lee. I would know which one to go for if I do go down that route (Serenity) as its important not to get the stuff that is just wild yams.

The consultant I am seeing used to be very anti progesterone. However, he is running a clinical trial called PROMISE at the moment and apparently he is changing his mind. I think some consulants prescribe it too readily when it should only be prescribed in true cases of luteal insufficiency. My only worry is that is can delay a miscarriage. I think its helpful in cases where the MC is caused by hormonal imbalance and not an abnormality with the fetus.

I found this page very helpful. It looks like we have different reasons for low progesterone and that your low levels may be being caused at the start of the cycle, hence raised FSH. The treatment for that seems to be Clomid.

Whereas for me it looks like a corpeus lutem problem and hence progesterone might help

Poppyjen · 13/10/2011 15:15

Hi ladies

Pie I am taking the B100 complex (actually I am taking 2xB50s, not that this should make a difference), and as yet (6 days in) I am having no side effects at all from that (other than the bright yellow pee Blush ) or from the agnus castus (I am taking 4x 400g tablets daily). Really hoping that I see a change in my cycle this month. How about you, do you feel ok with your supplements?

Just managed to get my notes from the private consultant who first diagnosed me with PCOS, I am hoping that taking these along to the GP when I go will help to convince them that as we already know there's an issue they should hurry up and refer me already! Here's hoping....

PieMistress · 13/10/2011 14:39

Thanks far, good to hear about my thyroid - it's a shame my prog and FSH levels are all screwed up! I did mention progesterone supplements to my consultant but he was a bit [hmmm] about it. I've got another appointment on the 8th November so will bring it up again then as he will have another 2 x progesterone levels from me. Are you taking the B100 as a complex or just on its own? I take plain B6 50mg in addition to my expensive zita west vits (as there is a good range of B vits in those pre-natals). Think my old eggs need all the help they can get!

I did muse over just buying some progesterone cream online but thought better of it. What were your prog levels (if you don't mind me asking)?

farfallarocks · 13/10/2011 13:53

Disclaimer - plenty of people conceive fine with TSH levels above 2.5 I don;t want to panic anyone.
I was told that low progesterone and slightly raised TSH and very early miscarriage were probably connected
