Firstly, good luck tomorrow Blue! x
Sorry to hear how pissed off you are Two and Shimmery. Have a nice glass of
and take care of yourselves.
Hospital appointment was, I'll be kind, predictable. I was there, as instructed, at half two and was promptly seen at, er, four o'clock by the same diabetic consultant I saw last time, Dr M. He is spoken of very highly by various members of staff (one's I was a bit groany about him to) and, he seems a nice-ish bloke but he DOESN'T FUCKING LISTEN! He looked at my readings, all fine apart from one of 14mmol (I am having to alter fast acting levels to quite a bit more than usual, and 95% of the time am getting it spot on which, if I may be smug, is bloody good going) so he focused on that.
He cannot comprehend why or how I know what doses of insulin I need if I haven't been on one of their carb counting courses and kept saying that if I get 'persistently high readings' I will have to go on one. I explained that I am having to alter things now due to the hormones etc and generally am fine, as my Hba1c of 6.4 shows, but he was adamant that it was because I couldn't 'count carbs' in the first place, despite evidence to the contrary. Also, as one size does not fit all, going on a course to 'learn' how to do something I have been doing brilliantly since 1995 isn't going to make much difference when one's insulin requirements may change on a monthly basis...
Will stop there as a) most of you prob don't know what I'm talking about and b) it's dull even if you do!
All the appt was for this ten mins with the diabetic consultant, I didn't see anyone else which was a shame as I was going to mention the spotting and see if I could wrangle an earlyish scan. I think that will have to be brought up at the booking in appointment I have next week instead.
