Manuka honey helping to concieve?

Roxanne123 · 12/09/2011 09:02

Hi ladies, i know the pain of wanting to get pregnant after trying for so long.

7 people i know who had been trying to concieve between 6months and 3years gave me a tip... they were having 2 spoonfuls of manuka honey umf25+ a day.. all of them who now have children or are pregnant.

After ttc for 14 months i decided to give it a go... i am now 13+2 :)

This may be a total fluke but if it can help anyone at all its worth putting it out there

Kat I am howling at "If you want to eat this honey, go ahead." It's the thought of loads of 30-something women solemnly swallowing teaspoonfuls of expensive because they think it's yummy.

WishingIWasLucky · 21/09/2011 11:11

Grin Grin Grin

No Aries, the great thing about it is that you don't even have to have sex, the honey encourages immaculate conception between CD 10-15, my friend's sister's second cousin said. Lolz.

Am buying primarily cause of other reported health benefits (acid reflux for DP and general colds). Worth a try for TTC too if I'll be taking it anyway.

I can see where you're coming from with the exploitation angle (all those ridiculously priced fertility monitors, vitamins, etc). Would be interesting to see any valid research done on The Honey. creeps off to see if Ben Goldacre has anything to say on the matter

kat2504 · 21/09/2011 11:00

There are no other bases to cover apart from having sex!
This is expensive exploitation of desperate women who will pay over the odds for anything that claims to get them pregnant.
aries is right.

JIZZ IS WHAT MAKES BABIES

If you want to spend lots of money, spend it on something that will actually help such as ovulation testing or a clearblue monitor.

We were all born without our parents forking out over the odds for a bit of honey. It really is just preying on desperation.

I, with my rather unhappy path to attempting to make a baby so far, have every sympathy with anyone who is struggling. I also don't want to see them waste lots of money.

If you like to eat this honey, go ahead. But don't expect it to magically impregnate you.

Rant over.

GenericDietCola · 21/09/2011 09:50

Aries I think you still have to have sex. I suppose we might as well cover all bases as it were.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 20/09/2011 22:29

Hiya aries not seen.you for aaaaaaaggggesss nope this magic honey cures everything you'll ever suffer from Hmm
I think it's worth a try....cheaper than a lot of things we try during ttc...

louloubellamozzarella · 20/09/2011 22:20

Got two 15+ 250ml jars off ebay today for £16.50 incl P&P! Did a bit of reading around and I think 15+ is a decent strength. I want to use it for skin and soothing colds too so couldn't really justify the 25+ as I think I'll use it quite fast.

The jar labels are slightly damaged (hence low price) but use by date is 2013 and they are sealed, so a bit of a bargain I think! Now let's hope this bloody works Grin goes back to start of thread to clarify exactly how the honey is supposed to work.

Ariesgirl · 20/09/2011 21:45

This is my first post in Conception since throwing a strop a few weeks ago. I am definitely going to try some. Most of me is berating myself at the mere idea of spending that much on bloody HONEY, mind...

Tell me, does it actually act as sperm? Do you still need to have sex?

WishingIWasLucky · 20/09/2011 21:21

Oh and good luck everyone Smile

WishingIWasLucky · 20/09/2011 21:20

I don't know whether this is due to the honey or not ..... Sorry for tmi : normally no cm to speak of; however- for the last few days had quite a lot: of all different descriptions! Nothing else changed apart from one teaspoon of 25+ honey consumption daily. Dh noticed it too Blush. hope its a step nearer to BFP. Keep those fingers firmly crossed girlies! x

pinkapples · 20/09/2011 21:08

Officially purchased! 25+ and £26 later hmmm hope it's worth it I'll try just about anything right now

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 20/09/2011 19:53

Right, you lot are bad influences! I have caved & bought a jar today, it's only 10+ as I could only get to Tesco and it was £9.99 Shock The girl at the till actually asked me if I realised it was that price, when I said yet she gave me a look to say "are you MAD??????"
Yup! Grin

I had my first spoonful before, and it is actually quite nice, if a little sweet. If it works this cycle it's bloody magic stuff as I'm already on CD25 (UCL28)

GenericDietCola · 20/09/2011 19:33

DH has just bought me some honeycomb biscuits with cinnamon! Has he been reading this? I don't tell him any of my crazy ideas to help us ttc so that is very clever of him to have noticed my recent honey and cinnamon consumption!

WishingIWasLucky · 20/09/2011 18:46

Very wise Hickorydick! I'm sure we'll update if any of us gets a BFP!

hickorydick · 20/09/2011 18:45

I'm hanging around in here to see if it works before spending all my money on special honey. Holland and Barrett have sold out of 500g jars on their website (due you lot no doubt!) and as I was entering my card details into another site ready to buy I realised I may have actually gone a bit mad...

If it works for you ladies then I shall invest. Good luck everyone!

JennaP · 20/09/2011 18:27

This may be a silly question but does the honey have to be taken on it's own? I've been trying for six months. I finally meet MR right and tick tock, tick tock!

PieMistress · 19/09/2011 21:02

wishing I was 7 weeks (it was in May) . I also have several friends with nice big bumps that are due after I was :( There is a great thread called 'Just MC and Ready to Try Again' - you should come and join us! I'd have been totally lost without it, those ladies have been a life saver!

Thanks for the good vibes happy here's to BFP for all of us!

WishingIWasLucky · 19/09/2011 20:34

That's so very kind of you Happy! I do the same: lick it off the spoon pulling faces with every lick! It's disgusting in a weird way! Here's Fingers Crossed for each and every one of us FX Smile

TheHappyCamper · 19/09/2011 20:28

TheHappyCamper · 19/09/2011 20:26

wishing sorry to hear about your mc. Horrible Sad

CD16 here and finding the honey disgusting but taking it in tiny licks off a spoon in between mouthfuls of hot tea! Grin

WishingIWasLucky · 19/09/2011 14:32

Piemistress: yes, its horrid, especially as it's getting closer to EDD, and friends all around me in RL blooming in their pregnancies. So sorry for your loss too. How many weeks pregnant were you? Hope you are faring better then me. Glad you're enjoying the honey though! Hehehe x

PieMistress · 19/09/2011 13:51

wishing sorry to read about your m/c. It really sucks doesn't it :( :(

I can't eat it off the spoon, I need to have it in my warm (not hot) tea. Bleurghhh!

WishingIWasLucky · 19/09/2011 12:05

Anyone else finding the honey too sickly? Where's Roxanne gone? Does she know what she's started even?!

WishingIWasLucky · 18/09/2011 09:56

Piemistress: it's so hard to pick yourself up and continue with the same optimism after a knockback, isn't it? Will book some sessions on Monday. Will keep you updated too. Thanks hon x
