Right then girlies..........I know i cant be the only one! If you cant wait to get Christmas out of the way so you can start ttc in January, sign up here! all our ttc threads seem to have gone v. quiet lately, im drummng up business for the luckiest, most hopeful, positive thread for 2006 babydust essential if you can do it! Come on, get your names down, January is a long dark month you know!

Hey there....sorry I missed you yday Pussycat....but actually made it to the cinema for only the second time since dd was born 16 months ago...oh how life changes!!!!!! Great film..Brokebrook Mountain...a real weapy love epic in my opinion..sat there blubbing at the end...hormones!!!!!! Gotta dash, off for meeting in LOndon today...yuk....

I'd just like to say hooray for you Homemama. I've been nagging everyone about CM for ages and now you have made me feel as if it was all worthwhile.
Butterfly girl Homemamma gave you a great answer about your cycle but I would have said pretty much the same thing.
I've found evening primrose oil has made a different to my CM - well it seemed to last month, I?d had very little change after my implant was removed. So it could have been just a matter of time. You should only take it up until you are ovulating though. Grapefruit juice is also recommended. I?ve seen it mentioned on several threads although I?m not sure how it works! Some people also recommend cough medicine ?Robotussin as it also loosens mucus but it probably isn?t a good idea just to start drinking the stuff.
Pussy cat didn?t you buy a thermometer, have you started using it? This will probably give you a better idea of when you ovulate.
Northerner if you have the Egg whitey mucus you should get onto DH / DP tonight ? and tomorrow ? and the next day!!!

It doesnt really matter how much / big / long / stretchy the cervical mucous is as long as its there as the cervix also acts as a sucker, slurping the sperm up the straw-like mucous when the time is right (yes our bodies really are amazing!). I dont think there is anything you can do to change your lot but dont worry, because everone has it to some degree whether you can see it externally or not!

If you have cycles of different lengths, then it generally means that you will probably be ovulating at different times of the month which does make things a bit tricky. You could try using one of those ovulation kits, although they are v expensive (about £25 i think ) and I think you should try for at least 6 -12 months first before resorting to that (unless you are loaded) as the average time to conceive is 6-12 months for the average, healthy couple.

If you have a regular, but longer cycle than 28 days, then as a rule, it is only the first part of the cycle that is longer - from ovulation to the next period (first day of bleeding) it is virtually always 14 days. So: if you have a 35 day cycle, you would ovulate on around day 21.

i know its only our first foray into ttc.......my dh thinks i should "relax" "dont think about it" and that we should just do the biz as and when and if i get pregnant marvelous, if not, it will happen when its ready.

You can have periods and not ovulate. A period doesn't mean an awful lot taken on its own merits - for example you have 'periods' when taking the pill and the way that works is to stop ovulation. It just demonstrates that there has been a decrease in particular hormones.

Temperature charting, cervical mucous and periods all put together all give you an accurate picture about what is happening in the cycle. Being aware of all these things will give a better chance of pregnancy. Although it is true that the 14 year old will almost always get pregnant first time she has sex wherever she is in her cycle - because that is sods law!!!

is there anything that can make us produce more of the good-ladder type stuff? if its snakes and ladders, think mine must be acting as a big slidy snake, sperm obv not getting very far

The cervical mucous is v important, but it will appear different to different women. Its purpose is to act like a straw, or ladder, for the sperm to travel up, directly into the womb.

The brown blood you're seeing would be classed as the first day of your period pussycatmomma.

I think implantation bleeding is a bit of a phenomenon, and in my experience it isnt that common. It can be anything from a bit of brown blood to red spotting, but only a bit.

As for Oxfordshire, we moved here to get out of London due to the old chesnut, needing a bigger place to live and wanted a nicer place to raise a family. But we have shot ourselves int he foot as it is just as expensive here and not as fun as lOndon!!!!

Sorry Pussycatmamma THere's me banging about about singing soapstars when there's serious business going on here!

Don't know anything about implantation bleeding so am interested to hear the answer on that. Regarding CM, not quite sure, have read it should be egg whitey. Mine is. However, surely having periods means you are ovulating though? If you don't ovulate you don't get periods do you?

Not much help am i Sorry, quite new to this and not very knowledgable.

I do have a regular 28 day cycle. Dd was just a stroke of luck then as she was concieved after just one occasion of unprotected sex in that month !! but like you said sperm can live for a few days so it must have been timed well.

If nothing happens this month i will remember days 10-17 being good days next month.

also is it ESSENTIAL to get egg white cm, if none does this mean not ovulating? i have never yet to this day found any cm which is very clear and wet, let alone stretchy to a couple of inches as per Zita West specifications!!!

can i just ask 1 ickle question?
I think i have started my af really early, about 5 days early, but at the moment am still at the "brown" stage, not the bright red blood stage (god, im - sorry if tmi)
Am i right in thinking the first day of red is day 1?
nearly sent myself round the bend this month, thnkin it was implantation bleeding, wishful thinking im afraid. Does everone get implantation bleed if they are get pregnant, if they do, how much like a period is it??
btw, Devon is beautiful part of world to live, how come you in oxford?
