lily06 · 07/10/2011 17:28

Afternoon ladies,

Bigmac lovely to see you in here as well, hope everything is going well.

Love the new name, Tina.

TinaOnHerBroomstick · 07/10/2011 17:23

Grin bigmac, glad you found us! Muffins are always welcome in here, they'll top off the wotsits that I just scoffed whilst hiding from dd nicely

bigmacandhappymeal · 07/10/2011 16:24

Hello everyone - I've spent time in the freakout room and am now a grad and didn't even realise this thread was here! I am a fool but I come bearing gifts of muffins and hot chocolate... can I come and play in here as well please?

TinaOnHerBroomstick · 07/10/2011 14:14

Hi, do you like my Halloween name

Sorry about af bear Sad

I don't have any cbfm advice sorry loup, I've never taken the plunge with one! All I know about the duofertility monitor is that ages ago the manufacturer hijacked a thread that I'd started Angry. I'm day 10 today and had a temp drop this morning so think I'll ov early this month.

We're going campervan shopping later, I'm very excited! Grin

Loup23 · 07/10/2011 12:33

Sorry AF got you bear and sorry you're having such a miserable time post mc - hope this month gets better for you, you're definitely due some good luck.

How are you getting on tina? What day are you? Is it coming up to the 2ww Grin?

I'm day 18 today, got my first peak on the machine but also temp rise this morning so think i've missed it this month - does anyone have any advice on this? I suppose next month I should start DTD on cd16/17 to make sure we're not too late - am thinking about getting a duofertility machine (not that i'm obesessed or anything...)

Waves to all and sends lots of baby dust to those newly updiffed x

itsabear · 07/10/2011 10:06

And today brings....AF and a whole lot of pain. Oh, and an abscess in my tooth so off to the dentist for an emergency appointment. Anyone else have the feeling that their body is falling apart post-MC?

MissTinaTeaspoon · 06/10/2011 17:50

Just had MNHQ on the phone. They want me to speak to some journalists about their mc campaign. Eek! Anyone else been phoned? I agreed in principle but only if I didn't have to have my photo taken.

itsabear · 06/10/2011 13:30

Congratulations mouse and knitter! Hoping that the next few weeks are as stress-free as possible. As regards scans, I know that next time I am pregnant I will be in two minds about an early scan. The consultant said I would be eligible to have an early scan but I don't know if I will end up having one. The EPU seem reluctant to give scans here...knitter that list looks very tough. The ectopic pregnancy must have been so scary.

Got me thinking about my scan history:

1st preg - scan at 6wks, 12 wks (where was told high risk downs (1 in 148) but then turned out after a few days that the consultant had miscalculated blood test results and was actually 1 in 1150), 20 wks = DD
2nd preg - nearly booked private scan but decided was being neurotic (!), 12wk scan showed MMC at 6 wks
3rd preg - booked private 'reassurance scan' at 7+5 which showed baby small for dates. Second scan at 9+3 showed baby had died.

Mcs take away all the excitement of scans, don't they. I am jealous of people who have all the innocence of not knowing how much can go wrong.

I still had a positive test on Monday morning so went to EPU where they refused to scan me as their test had come up negative. I was quite upset and asked them to do a blood test. The results are 4.7 which apparently is still higher than a non-pregnant woman would be but not high enough for concern.

Our bad luck continues this week as we had to rush to A&E on Monday evening with DD who had a high temperature. Obviously she perked up as soon as we got there and was soon racing round the wards causing havoc. Then I came down with a nasty case of tonsilitis and have been in bed since Tuesday. Not a good start to being back at work.

AandR - I hope you're coping ok. I remember those weeks inbetween scans being like some sort of strange twilight zone. x

MissTinaTeaspoon · 06/10/2011 13:10

loup fx that egg's about to pop!

ladym I don't like grapefruit juice but sainsburys have got a new apple/pineapple/lemongrass blend out that I've been drinking for the last week, not really for cm reasons but just to try, the cm thing did cross my mind when I bought it though!

Waves to everyone x

LadyMaybe · 06/10/2011 11:22

Mouse - would you be just 7 weeks or could you go right at the end and squeeze to 7 1/2 weeks? A few days can make a difference but I guess they should see a hb then.

Knitter it is a tough old list, that's for sure. I have everything crossed that this time is the good one for you.

MissTina, great that cycle seems to be making an effort to get on track. Do you do the grapefruit juice/pineapple juice thing? It occurred to me that my two last pgs (including this one) I was drinking the juices. Just saying ... Grin

Right, got to sleep. Bad night last night stressing, so will try my usual trick of listening to In Our Time podcasts - they usually give me a good nights sleep (sorry Melvyn)

TomboyWife · 05/10/2011 21:49

Wonderful news Knitter! Grin

mousebacon · 05/10/2011 21:36

Thanks blackkat as it stands at the mo. If I try and go in half term I'll be 7 weeks but if I go th le following week I'll stand a much better chance of it being conclusive but then I suppose there should be a hb at 7 weeks shouldn't there?

Thinking of you aandr, really hoping there's a positive outcome for you x

Playing catch up, as ever.

Knitter, such lovely news Grin I have everything crossed for you for a smooth ride this time xx

mouse, about scans, I booked at 7 weeks for an 8 week scan privately. My consultant did the scan and explained the risks and likelihood of seeing a HB. He also offered the reassurance already cited about reduced risk having seen HB at 8 weeks. I think it was probably the best 60 quid I've ever spent, and the scan photo I treasure the most. HTH. X

A&R, thinking of you xx

to everyone else

Loup23 · 05/10/2011 15:06

Trying hard to catch up, great to see these BFPs!!!! Huge congratulations knitter and mouse Grin Grin Grin Hope you both have trouble free pregnancies.

Good news re the ewcm tina enjoy the next few days Grin I'm CD16 (8 days of high readings on my monitor still waiting for a "peak") off to acupuncturist tonight so hopefully that will shift an egg out!

Waves to all others and promises to catch up properly soon x

KnitterNotTwitter · 05/10/2011 10:21

Thanks for the lovely words folks.

Re scans: mine is just a walk-in clinic at St Georges so it's a case of booking the husband and we head along. The scans I've had were:

PG1 - just the normal 12 week and 23 week scans -> DS
PG2 - ectopic - no scans until preparation for emergency surgery as didn't know was pregnant
PG3 - scan at 5 weeks to check not ectopic, scan at 7 weeks to see heartbeat, scan at 12 weeks as spotting - missed misscarriage
PG4 - scan at 6 weeks to check not ectopic, scan at 9 weeks to check not MC, normal 12 week scan where high probability Downs - confirmed by CVS
PG5 - scan at 7 weeks to check not ectopic next scan will be the CVS scan at 11 weeks probably 2/11/11

What a depressing list...

MissTinaTeaspoon · 05/10/2011 08:20

Good morning

twitwoo could you ask your gp to lie bend the truth a bit? One of the gps at my surgery told me to come to him if I get pregnant again and he'd say that I'd had some cramps to refer me to epu. Saying that though, I completely understand your reluctance to go back there mouse, it's certainly not somewhere I'd want to go back to either. The thought of that waiting room corridor makes me feel sick just thinking about it!

Grin for knitter

Waves to everyone else. I've got ewcm early this cycle, I think that my body is attempting to correct itself.

Freezingmyarseoff · 04/10/2011 22:45

Mouse I had a scan at 8 weeks with the EPU, as last time they said they would see me early this time. I still had to get a referral from my GP though, and I didn't see her until 7.5 weeks, couldn't face doing anything earlier. I didn't actually book in with a midwife until after the scan.

Twittwoo I'm sorry that you (probably) can't get an early scan, but at least you have a lovely GP, it does make a big difference.

Mouse it's so hard not to think about it but I agree with Twittwoo and trying to think about things in smaller chunks is quite helpful (well in my experience anyway), although I do generally tend to over think things through

confu3ed sorry if this is unhelpful but I know people who have got a BFP in first month of Clomid, so don't rule it out just yet.

AandR thinking of you. Hope you are getting lots of hugs from your family.

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 04/10/2011 22:30

mouse and twittwooo I couldn't get anything on the NHS this time, so paid for a scan at 8 weeks. It was reassuring, and according to the consultant there's a 98% chance of things working out after seeing a hb at 8 weeks. Didn't completely set my mind at rest because I'd lost dc3 at 16 weeks after 3 good scans but it felt like the first hurdle over with and I then paid for further scans at 12 and 16 weeks that stopped me going insane. Finally had my first NHS scan at 20 weeks!

aandr how are you doing, lovely? x

mousebacon · 04/10/2011 22:24

Thank you, that makes a lot of sense. I think I'll take your advice and give myself a bit more time to adjust!

Must finish marking and go to bed now... x

OP posts:
Twittwooo · 04/10/2011 22:17

mouse, I'm new to this thread so I'm not familiar with everyone's history but sorry to hear you had complications with surgery last time.

From what you say it might be best to see your consultant but I know what you mean about planning things so far ahead. Would you have to book it now or could you wait a couple of weeks and then book for when you're 8 weeks? That might be better, taking things two weeks at a time might be easier than trying to arrange things for a month from now.

In a way I think my GP is doing me a favour by not booking me in for anything yet. Taking things a week by week, if not day by day, is the best way forward in some ways. I suppose not everything in life is within our control and sometimes we just have to take things as they come, one step at a time. Easier said than done though!

I hope you find a way to make the right decision about the scan. Good luck! x

mousebacon · 04/10/2011 21:55

That's exactly what I'm worried about twittwooo

I have a few options re scans - the epac will see me, my consultant will see me and there's a walk in place that i've just found out about (I think that's more aimed at the youth of today tho IYSWIM...)

The reason they'll see me is because of the complications I had after surgery last time. The consultant reckoned 7/8 weeks would be best and I'd prefer to see her TBH (epac has bad memories) and I thought I might go for a 10 weeker with the walk in place but I'm not sure they'd be equipped to deal with me if it was bad news...

It's just that that means planning ahead 3/4 weeks and I'm not that brave at the mo. Aaaggh!

Twittwooo · 04/10/2011 21:47

digital, my GP said that not so long ago she would have been able to refer me for an early scan but that things have changed and there is little chance they would say yes. This was before I even asked her about an early scan. She is really lovely, but the fact that she wants to wait before even referring me for a midwife appointment makes me think she isn't holding out much hope either :( I might give the EPU a call next week, say I'm feeling very anxious given my previous history and see what they say. It's worth a try!

digitalgirl · 04/10/2011 21:42

twittwooo I know it differs from postcode to postcode but I'm pretty sure that you should be eligible for an early reassurance scan at 7 weeks - especially after 2 mc's. My local epu let me self refer, and before I knew that my gp referred me for an early scan. It's proven that reassurance and positive care from doctors etc does help to lower the risk of miscarriage. Can you ring your epu? Or find the nearest one that does walk-in clinics for scans? Or ask another gp?

Twittwooo · 04/10/2011 21:33

Great news knitter!

mouse and digital - are you talking about private scans? I went to see my GP yesterday (I'm just over 5 weeks). She said that I won't get an early scan even after 2 previous miscarriages, just the usual one at 12 weeks. I have to phone her again when I'm about 8 weeks and if everything's still okay by then she's going to arrange my midwife appointment and 12 week scan. I can't let myself think things will get that far this time, but at the same time I think about it constantly.

I've considered booking a private scan, but I feel like I'm tempting fate - I even felt that way going to see my GP. Is that how you're feeling too mouse?
