Ceropegia - I don't feel like I had to push hard for the early scan really. I saw my GP about 2 or 3 weeks ago when I was very newly pregnant and, because of my previous miscarriages we agreed I'd wait until now to phone her again so she could arrange initial appointments etc. This was really just because I didn't want to get my hopes up and receive appointment letters if the worst happened again. At this stage I asked her about an early scan but she said the EPU would be very unlikely to do one so I left it at that. I called her today, as agreed, but she is off at the moment so I called to arrange the appointments myself. I asked about an early scan and the midwife agreed. I think I was lucky to get a lovely midwife on the phone though - she did say she had 'sneaked' me in. She also said that with previous miscarriages I hadn't used their resources (I chose to deal with them at home) which I think helped as she didn't see me as a 'drain on the system' so to speak! I think it really does depend on where you are and who you speak to, although I was told by two people that they have a new set of criteria in my area which determines whether you get one or not.

Good luck with the test!

ceropegia · 20/10/2011 10:19

Hello everyone - back after ridiculously busy 24 hrs...am totally tempted to test today (should be tomorrow really). Only thing stopping me is extortionate price of digital test (don't like other ones). I might possibly cave in though...I FEEL pregnant (famous last words!)

Lady Thanks for your kind words - 3 consecutive mcs is rough...How does everyone keep going. Mc after mc is my biggest fear.

YRMOTB I love gardening, and Ceropegia is a plant I love (and also I got exasperated trying to find a name that wasn't taken so I thought of the weirdest plant name I could muster).

edward I think mc is mc - it doesn't matter when it happens - it's devastating and I'm feel so privileged to have found such a strong group of women.

twittwoo It seems like early scans are sometimes offered, sometimes not...did you have to push hard for it?

I'm very bad at keeping up with this amazing thread - forgive me!

CollieandPup · 20/10/2011 10:01

zam I'm so sorry Sad

And aandr too I'm just gutted to read her news. Sad

I just don't know what to say to both of you other than I'm sorry and I'm thinking of you.

lady. Yay for excellent scannage!!! Whoop!! Some happy news was needed!

Good luck to mouse and twit for forthcoming scans!

tina sounds promising!! Grin

Twittwooo · 20/10/2011 09:53

Hi everyone, just catching up on the news after having been away on holiday for a few days.

Zam - so sorry to hear your news. I hope you're being looked after.

Any more news Tomboy?

mouse - I hope your scan goes well next week.

I now have an early scan booked, and on the NHS too, even though my GP said it would be unlikely! I called this morning to make my initial appointments and when I asked about an early scan the lady put me through to the EPU. I spoke to a lovely midwife, who I also spoke to on the phone during my second mc, and although she said I was in a 'grey area' in terms of an early scan she sneaked me in for one anyway. They have a new set of criteria which determines whether you are entitled to one or nor apparently. So it's next week when I will be about 8+3, fingers crossed!

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 20/10/2011 07:22

Fantastic news lady !!! Grin Grin. How many weeks are you now?

TinaOnHerBroomstick · 20/10/2011 05:25

Grin for lady!

And I'm allowing myself the tiniest glimmer of hope...pink cm at 7dpo...

LadyMaybe · 20/10/2011 04:21

It's good news for me

Bean was super wriggly, measures about 6cm now, nuchal was 1.5mm, and the sonographer had a trainee with her so spent an age going through all the anatomy, from head to toes so we got a really good long look. I'm very relieved, and everyone at the rpl clinic downstairs was very happy too. They've invited me back next week, and then it'll be high risk pg clinic care from then. Very happy to have got this far.

edwardcullensotherwerewolf · 20/10/2011 00:07

digitalgirl · 19/10/2011 22:59

oh bloody hell I missed that bit of Lady's post about AandR - so so sorry to hear that too Sad

digitalgirl · 19/10/2011 22:58

zam I'm so sorry Sad

Good luck today lady

Just wanted to quickly pop on and asnwer wiggle's q about nk cells. I don't get retested after bfp...or after 12 weeks. I took 25mg of pred from bfp to 12 weeks, then I dropped 5mg every three days. According to my consultant once you reach 12 weeks the risk of mc from nk cells attacking is gone because they disappear (or have no effect) once the placenta takes over. The only reason I have to keep taking it after 12 weeks is because you have to wean yourself off them slowly.
I'm a great believer in steroids helping those who've had recurrent mc's - but I know that it's strong stuff and you need to be absolutely confident in your treatment because the side effects can be quite bad in some people (although I was pretty ok while on them, the withdrawal was a little uncomfortable).

Big wave to all - but must dash as laptop is about to die...

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 19/10/2011 22:39

Good luck for the scan ladymb looking fwd to hearing some good news later Smile

Very sorry to hear about aandr Sad Sad. I can understand her needing a break. If you're lurking out there, I'm thinking of you xxx

LadyMaybe · 19/10/2011 22:26

Hi there, my scan is later today, so you should see news when you wake up tomorrow, please send good vibes

getawiggleon I'm so sorry for everything you've been through, it does seem as though our small crew have been through anything and everything on their journeys. I'm super pleased to hear about your BFP again, and really wish and hope it'll be totally perfect and smooth sailing this time around. Will the 10 week scan be able to reassure you that the same thing hasn't happened? I know the chances are tiny and you're on the mega folic acid, but it must be an extra layer of worry Sad

Ceropegia again, welcome, but I'm so sorry for your later loss - just seems so cruel. I've had 3 consecutive MCs but all were earlier, around 8 weeks development, it must have been a devastating blow when you thought you were safe and I suppose had told more people. It sounds like it was a traumatic experiences. Good luck and I hope AF doesn't turn up on Friday Smile

Gosh there's some difficult news here at the moment, we must be due a better turn.

Lily so sorry that you're having complications. It really must feel like a double-blow.

Zam, such a huge shame. Sad

I have one final piece of sad news - I spoke to AandR privately earlier this week and unfortunately her pregnancy hasn't progressed and she is booked in for an ERPC this Friday. She's taking it all one day at a time and having a break from MN for a while but hopefully she'll be back at some stage. SadSad

I'm pleased there are a few rays of sunshine here - YRMOTB hoorah for being offered a seat and definitely looking preggo. Mouse Congrats on the sickiness - I know it's a double-edged sword but if it's helping you feel reassured then that's a good thing. Tomboy I'm going hope for good things, rather than just wierd/confusing things. Izzy oh yes! lady of leisure for a little bit now! congrats on starting your maternity leave. And welcome back FalconsMistress....oh and I stalked the grads thread and see there has been a happy arrival GrinGrin

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 19/10/2011 20:05

Big (((hug))) zam Sad Sad Sad

TomboyWife · 19/10/2011 20:04

So sorry to hear your news Zam. Sad

Knitter glad to hear your scan went okay.

Welcome (back) to those new to the thread. Sounds like you've had a terrible time of things. I hope your stay brings better luck!

Still no news from me. No AF, a few symptoms but not the ones I had last time I was pg, but after two BNFs this cycle I'm reluctant to test again. Still it's been about a week since the last BFN, so I should really (wo)man up and get out another stick. sigh

getawiggleon · 19/10/2011 18:41

zam so sorry you are going through this. What did the docs say? It's strange that it's exactly the same as the first one. I hope af stays away and that this is just a slow burner xx

mousebacon · 19/10/2011 18:22

Oh zam I'm so sorry Sad I hope you're getting lots of love and cuddles in rl xx

Yay for good scannage wiggle Smile

[pukey face] from me xxx

OP posts:
ZamMummyInGabs · 19/10/2011 17:57

Thanks for your kind words but levels exactly the same, 48hrs apart, not gone up at all let alone doubled. SadSad On the up side no need to worry re puking, shellfish or alcohol for forthcoming Mozambique road trip. But vv sad - had a really good feeling about this one. DH has taken DS's out for pizza while I wail by myself. Back to gynae on Mon if no AF. Sad

KnitterNotTwitter · 19/10/2011 17:35

zam so sorry - is it really as bad as you think [ignorant emoticon] can the numbers catch up again?

wiggle lovely news - good scan. And definitely worth going back to see the hb next week methinks - so reassuring

Izzy DS is called Joseph so you can't use that!! I love the name so perhaps I should see it as the most sincere form of flattery... oh go on then I suppose you can :)

edward DS is 3y3mo... so still young...

I'm away at a work conference at the moment - back home tomorrow evening. Apparently DS had a wobble when I wasn't there this morning and refused to get dressed. DH left him to it with a pile of clothes and went to iron his shirt and feed the chickens. When he came back DS was getting himself dressed (exciting new skill) although his t-shirt was back to front apparently.

I still have had no pg symptoms since Friday - maybe I should be pleased rather than worried!

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 19/10/2011 17:26

zam any increase at all? Am crossing my fingers that bean's hanging on in there. Hope you're doing ok xx
