edwardcullensotherwerewolf · 21/10/2011 23:58

Gosh it's quiet in here tonight! And I wanted to share some news

edwardcullensotherwerewolf · 21/10/2011 19:18

cero I was given that advice last month, having gone to the GP because I was getting symptoms of pg but AF had come and gone (albeit a bit intermittent and shorter than usual) and I'd had 10 a few BFNs. Gosh reading that back if I'd been the GP I'd have laughed me out of the surgery!!

Anyway, this month I didn't even do an OPK, just went with rough dates and my feelings (I always know when I ovulate) and tried my best to ignore the fact that I wanted to be pg. As you say, it's easier said than done, but I've made a conscious effort not to talk about conceiving/being pg, DH has made an effort not to ask if I feel pregnant etc. That really helps tbh. I feel much more relaxed about it this month :) (In fact, if anything, I've been convincing myself I'm not pg, and anything that suggests itself as a pg symptom has quickly been found another excuse Grin )I know I've rabbited on a bit, but I hope you can take something from it and have an easier (and hopefully BFP) next month Smile

ceropegia · 21/10/2011 18:28

oh no, tomboy just read about your bfn - So sorry about that....Better luck next time for both of us
x

ceropegia · 21/10/2011 18:24

twittwooo I agree with edward - It's unlikely they'll ask you anything you don't already know, and if they do, then it probably won't hurt to wait a little while for the answers. I can't remember what those 12 week questions were...so long ago (!) but I think it's important to wait until you are ready to tell them, and not just do it because you think you have to.
Good luck at that appointment - so exciting.

I went to the GP today (for DD's chesty cough) and asked him what we might be doing wrong. He said being stressed about getting pregnant was 'not conducive to getting pregnant'. Hmmmm... wise words, but easier said than done.

edwardcullensotherwerewolf · 21/10/2011 14:28

Smile Tomboy , I know what you mean. Could have been a bug making you a bit nauseous, and could also be messing with your cycle if you haven't been well? Who knows what affects it!

Twittwooo (almost shortened to twit , then realised what I'd typed Blush ) if you really don't want to tell family yet, maybe you could answer what you know about family history, and anything you don't know you could take away and ask when you're comfortable telling your parents? I can't imagine anything being so pressing that it can't wait a few weeks to be put in your records (and I would have thought your family would tell you of anything serious that may have been in the family?)

Twittwooo · 21/10/2011 10:46

I wonder if any of you ladies can help? Like most of you will understand, we are reluctant to tell anyone about this pregnancy until at least 12 weeks but I have my booking in appointment in just over a week and I know they will ask questions about family history. I'm not all that close to my parents so I don't really know all the information I should, and DH probably isn't all that aware of his family medical history either. Should we just bite the bullet and tell our mums so we can ask the questions about medical history? Or, in your experience, is it not all that necessary?

Tomboy and ceropegia - sorry you didn't get BFPs this time.

Lady - good news!

Mouse - if it helps you to know, I'm feeling crap too! Headaches, nausea and sickness galore. I'm not complaining because I'm hoping it's a good sign, but it's hard going, isn't it?

TomboyWife · 20/10/2011 22:48

edward please don't feel guilty that you encouraged me to test. Truth be told, I was hoping someone would encourage a little bit. I'm not particularly annoyed about the BFN, just that this cycle is dragging on so long. (I'm also wondering what the persistent mild nausea was all about. I don't think that was all in my head as if I wanted to invent pg symptoms that wouldn't be where I'd start. Perhaps it was just a very mild bug.)

ceropegia · 20/10/2011 22:46

Mouse, wiggle, tomboy, edward, thank you. Everyone is going through so much here. I wish I had a wand to make everything okay x

LadyMaybe · 20/10/2011 22:38

Ah well Tomboy, maybe it was an anovulatory cycle, they're quite common early on after MC.

Izzy How may weeks am I? That's a very good question! Grin there was quite a lot debate as the bean was so wriggly it took ages to get a CRL. By dates I'm 11+4, at one point she measured me at 12+5, finally after getting up and weeing she got one that is the 6cm, which she said was 12+4 but because it's within a week of the LMP dates they're keeping my EDD as 6 May (which I think is a bit different to the UK, I think they'd shift it to match the scan because it's more than 4-5 days difference). Anyway. I've googled and come up with 6CM = 12+2, which is what my fertility friend pregnancy tracker is saying based on ovulation date. So that is what I'm going to use privately Grin at least until it gets too confusing.

We're going to wait until next week's appointment to get screening test results before we tell DH's family and a few friends.

ceropegia sorry about AF turning up - disappointing. Take some time to give yourself a treat and take it easy.

Mousebacon my sympathy for the bleugness, and yes, hoorah for the prenatals, they were the only thing that made me feel like it wasn't a disaster that I was existing on peanutbutter or marmite toast. Things are much better for me now although evenings are still bad, especially when I attempt to cook. I think it's the smells, just gets overpowering.

Right, DS is making me feel guilty for being on here rather than paying him attention, so best get on with the day. We have a long weekend and the final of the Rugby world cup...with a bit of luck the weather will be good enough for BBQs.

edwardcullensotherwerewolf · 20/10/2011 22:21

Lady great news! Smile

cero sorry to hear AF arrived.

Ooh Tina ! Tentatively hopeful for you Smile

Tomboy Sad hope everything sorts itself out for you soon. I feel awful for goading now Confused

I'm jumping between convinced I'm not and wondering if I am. mega Confused
I want to buy a test tomorrow but have promised myself I'll wait until Sunday. Hmm

TomboyWife · 20/10/2011 21:58

So sorry to hear AandR's news. If you're out there, I'm thinking of you. Sad

Cero sorry to hear AF has got you. Sad

Lady great news on your scan! You must be so relieved. Smile

Tina sounds promising!

Well, I tested again this morning. Yet another BFN. I think that's pretty definitive as I'm on CD35 or more (I've kind of lost count -- well late in any case). I guess it's just my cycle still adjusting after the mc. I wish it would bloody well get on with it. Angry

getawiggleon · 20/10/2011 20:53

AandR So very sad to hear your news. I hope you've got plenty of support and everything goes as well as can be expected tomorrow. We're here if and when you need us Sad

Zam Thinking of you too this weekend

Cero Sorry af arrived. It's the hardest part of the month, I hope she stays away next month.

Lady Brilliant scannage news Grin. So happy for you. Hurray for the wriggling and great that you got to have an extra long look. My 10 week scan is to try and rule out the condition having occurred again. Although the neural tube closes at just 25-29 days into pg (before you know you are pg basically), anencephaly can't reliably be detected or ruled out until 10-11 weeks. And the pregnancies don't tend to miscarry, quite the opposite in fact; they usually go beyond 40 weeks. It's all a waiting game?

Digi I took prednisolone during my last pg (only 10mg though) for NKs. I'm a firm believer in the differences they can make to ladies who suffer rcm (I was prescribed them by Mr Taranissi who is a big advocate of immunes testing) I had a few raised eyebrows from the doctors/midwives at UCH though. Fine by me. I didn't suffer any real side effects and am pretty sure that the moonface was from eating my way through the first trimester rather than the steroids!

Mouse How many weeks are you now? I haven't felt a single pg symptom yet. Seem to remember the nausea kicked in at around 6-7 weeks last time though. I could do with feeling a little pukey just for reassurance! [freak emotion]

Twittwoo Grin for lovely midwife and early scan
