Let's face it May 2012 is full of bank holidays leading up to an extra day off thanks to the Queen. We are all bound to get updiffed and miss the time off -(where we should be in the pub) looking after our new babies.

A bus for those who find it difficult to remember new names. Ting ting - no getting off untilk a BFP.

Starting the stats Bleats (31) TTC#1 af due 31st Aug ish

Byrnsie30 · 08/08/2011 10:54

Don't know what is going on with MN. It posted my message and logged me off before I'd finished!

Anyway, I'm not due to ovulate for 2 weeks, but decided we will dtd every other day this month Wink. Had planned to do that last month, but didn't get round to it. As this is the last month of trying before I head back to the doctors and demand some tests, I should give it my best shot!

All I need now is for AF to bugger off and we can get started!

Byrnsie30 · 08/08/2011 10:46

Hey all,

Thanks for the folic acid advice. I have sorted myself out since mini break down and lots of crying on Saturday! (I crunched the car a bit in a car park as I was in a 'I'm still not pregnant' daze!)

minipie · 08/08/2011 10:22

Hello all is there still space on this minibus?

I was chucked off the April bus yesterday by a particularly nasty AF (hot water bottle and lots of chocolate needed) so no way of kidding myself it was just an implantation bleed!

Seems my cycle has now settled down to a regular length - unfortunately it's a long one, 32 days, with ovulation very late on about CD19/20. Not helpful!!

Imustbecrazy fx for you that AF never appears properly and the April bus was the one!

I've been taking folic acid when I remember regularly all the time I've been TTCing and about a month before that. I don't think you can overdose can you? I think the only thing to be careful about is Vitamin A, some regular multivits have quite a lot of that and it can be harmful in pg.

spuddy I'm with you on the ttc frustration... DH needs to have had lots of sleep before he's in the mood so it's hard to persuade him midweek! But I think the recommendation is every other day anyway since every day can mean he has less effective sperm or something Confused.

Adding myself to the stats:

MorningCoffee (29) TTC#3 Af due 27th August
Bleats (31) TTC#1 af due 31st Aug ish

minipie (31) ttc#1 AF due 7 Sept

Imustbecrazy(26) ttc#2 no idea at the min as still not had Aug af!!!

HorseyGirl1 · 08/08/2011 08:54

Hey all! Cheered my face up a bit and ready to get back in business. I've been taking Pregnacare Conception (or the Boots own brand type) every day when I get up. I even keep a box of B Vits in work just in case I forget to take it at home. The cycle before this last one was 25 (short for me) and I took the B vits in addition last month and I'm back to a more usual for me 28 days so it maybe helped. I think I'll just take the B vits from now on once I finish the conception vits for a while - can't do any harm. Now where are those pretty pants! x

MyCatLikesToHideInBoxes · 07/08/2011 21:07

Welcome aboard Horsey

Hi Crazy, will be happy if you join us, even happier if you don't.

Aha Bleats - I do indeed have cats but my name is actually from one of my favourite toddler books (My Cat Likes To Hide In Boxes) Bummer about the garden, Bengal's are gorgeous and soooooooooo super silky soft. My two are just bog standard rescue tabbies but I love them dearly and so (to their horror) does ds.

I just take folic acid every day Byrnsie but then I have to take thyroxin every day too so it's just habit now to wake up and take my tablets. As I understand it the reason they say to take it every day from a month before conception is because your body can't store much folic acid up but it's the first two to three weeks of pregnancy that it's really key for so with your system you'd still be getting it at that crucial time.

Spuddy & Clandy - it's a good job dh doesn't get to see this, all this talk of sexy undies would raise his expectations way too high! Grin

Bleats · 07/08/2011 20:10

Well fingers crossed Imustbecrazy that you do not need this bus, but I am very happy for you to keep your seat warm.

I bet that this has been said before on MN, but DH always calls it frolic acid Wink.

Hello HorseyGirl welcome to the bus. Love a good cry but now that is done it is time for the sexy pants Grin.

I give folic acid a miss during my period a (very long) hangover from when I was on the pill. I kind of go on a Byrnsie's style cheese and wine blowout for the period and then get back on it. I had assumed that folic acid kind of built up, unlike vit C, but this is based on absolutely no research. On the other hand everything I have seen on taking folic before ttc suggested that you only need to build it up for a month and then keep it up for the first three.

Well AF got me yesterday - had a good cry then thought I'd jump on the May mini-bus. Good luck all xx

Spuddybean · 07/08/2011 16:09

My understanding was you took it consistently for at least 3 months before you ttc to build up stocks.

I don't know about ibs but i read sometimes the coating on vit pills can affect peoples stomachs/bowels. So you have to make sure they are the ones which don't irritate you - not sure if this is just capsules tho.

Sorry for not helping at all there!

Byrnsie30 · 07/08/2011 15:52

Hi spuddy, I have no idea!

I was taking pregnacare for conception when I first started ttc in Jan. I kept taking it even during AF. That got a little expensive, so I was just taking it from OV to first day of AF.

I'm now just taking cheaper folic acid and I'm debating if I should take it continuously?! Probably won't do any harm, but is it necessary? E.g. do I need to build up a stock of it in my system?

I've also been told I may have irritable bowl syndrome, and I wondered if vitamin supplements would irritate that?!

Spuddybean · 07/08/2011 15:30

byrnsie i thought you took your folic acid daily regardless of what time of the month it was. I have been taking it daily for about a year. Am i overdosing myself?

Byrnsie30 · 07/08/2011 15:19

Hey all,

TMI ALERT! I am having a very unusual AF. Not as crampy as usual, a lot lighter than usual (although it's increasing-I think!) Confused

Done a bit of research and it's too late for implatation bleeding. 15DPO yesterday when AF arrived. It could be the following type of bleed, but I think I'm clutching at straws!

Hormones that control your menstrual cycle triggering bleeding when your period would have been due. This is called breakthrough bleeding. You may have this more than once, around the times you would have had a period if you weren't pregnant.

I've added my stats below as I'm pretty sure it's just an unusual AF. Had a mini, emotional breakdown about the whole thing yesterday - oh dear! Blush

MorningCoffee (29) TTC#3 Af due 27th August
Bleats (31) TTC#1 af due 31st Aug ish
FloydieDoydie (32) TTC1, CD6 AF due 3rd Sept (aprox)

Byrnsie30 (30) ttc#1 OV due 21/22 Aug, AF 7th Sept
Clandy (23) ttc baby 2 af due.. Erm no idea
Imustbecrazy26

Also, does anyone have any experience of this? AND does anyone continue to take folic acid when AF has arrived? I never know whether to continue or just leave it 'til Ov time again?!

I have enjoyed Wine and cheese the last couple of days - woohoo! Grin

Clandy · 07/08/2011 13:24

Haha that made me chuckle oh would be up for it every minute of the day if he could.. Or so I thought! Think he is prob secretly hoping I don't get pregnant straight away as my sex drive almost disappeared after dd1 Blush an now it's 3 times a day (tmi Grin)

Spuddybean · 07/08/2011 13:13

Well i have always had a higher sex drive than DP so i find ttc especially frustrating. tmi warning: He would be happy with 1 long session on a weekend afternoon and 1 (non penetrative) fool around mid week. Whereas i want full sex every day.

So we have agreed on every other day and every day on the fertile time. But it takes a lot of effort from me to get him in the mood (he just has to look at me and i'm up for it!).

Clandy · 07/08/2011 12:42

Haha that's the1st place I headed when we decided to ttc!! For the first ever time I got told "do we have to, I'm tired" think I am wearing the poor man out and I'm not even sure it's the right time yet! Blush

Spuddybean · 07/08/2011 11:29

Morning Ladies! I'm feeling more positive today; DP is on his way home (he will be home for a whole month till 10 Sept! Hurrah) and i have new saucy undies from agent provocateur!

So poor DP's going to be in for it this month Wink

Bleats · 07/08/2011 11:25

Hello Cats why thank you. I love your decorations to the bus it is already starting to be quite homely.

Do you have cats cats? I have been ogling bengal kittens this w/e but I really can't get them as I live in a flat. Would love to move get a garden to get a cat (and some sun) but house prices in London mean you have to choose either a room or garden for the money we have scrabbled away Sad Envy

Mine have been extremly heavy since coming off the pill in april my first was 38 days and then 29 so thought they were settling down but i am now on cd35 just with the spotting last night and now nothing!!!! How frustrating? Confused

Pipbin · 07/08/2011 09:52

I found that this month. I was 11 days late and had spotting for about 3 days before she arrived in full force.

I came off the pill at the end of April, had two perfect 28 day cycles then this late one. TMI alert: this one has been heavier, hurt more and I've had pmt. I think that this is a 'real' one. The last two have been more like withdrawal bleeds.

Imustbecrazy26 · 07/08/2011 08:27

Waves back to bleats!!

Well i thought af had arrived went toliet had the smallest amount when i wiped sorry tmi so tampax at the ready as af is mega heavy since coming off the pill but later on the was just a small amount of pink stuff so though id be in full swing this morning but nothing this morning whats going on?
