Let's face it May 2012 is full of bank holidays leading up to an extra day off thanks to the Queen. We are all bound to get updiffed and miss the time off -(where we should be in the pub) looking after our new babies.

A bus for those who find it difficult to remember new names. Ting ting - no getting off untilk a BFP.

Starting the stats Bleats (31) TTC#1 af due 31st Aug ish

Oh forgot to say, I'd be mighty peeved too. YANBU Smile

Spuddy Sad

"if it sits round for longer than 2 days it is dead so needs to be flushed out for new stuff". This is total crap AFAIK.

But why is he wanking instead of dtd? Do you think maybe he doesn't like SWI - maybe sees it as a bit clinical/sperm bank like or something? I know my DH some blokes don't like having a "schedule" for DTD.

desperateoldie67 · 19/08/2011 12:08

Blimey Spuddy, I don't think I'd be too happy either. But then given that I'm all hormonal and all over the place at the minute, it may be better to wait for a more balanced view from some of the other ladies.

(((hugs)))

Spuddybean · 19/08/2011 11:40

Hi guys. I'm a bit annoyed - please tell me i'm being silly and emotional.

As i said yesterday i was pos OV and wanted to dtd when DP got in from the gym. He said he wasn't in the mood/able as he had 'sorted himself out' earlier in the day when he was wanking working from home.

We then did it half heartedly this morning and he said he hardly came as he used it all up yesterday. He then gave me some bullshit about having been on 'dadsnet' and had researched that if it sits round for longer than 2 days it is dead so needs to be flushed out for new stuff (is this true?).

Even tho we dtd on tues which would have meant thurs was still fine (he quite clearly just wanted a wank and not to have me involved!).

I dont care about the odd wank, but i do care if it's on my most fertile day - which he new about - and it renders him incapable of making enough sperm to knock me up!

Am i being a baby obsessed freak?

minipie · 19/08/2011 10:23

Morning all.

Mersea I'm the other way round, I'm not scared about being pg per se - but I'm terrified by the idea of having an actual baby at the end of it! However, for some reason I still want to have one nonetheless Confused.

On the timing question I gather that we ovulate the day after a +ve OPK, and the egg survives for about a day after ovulation, whereas sperm can live for up to 5 days.... so basically the 4 days in the run up to +ve OPK plus the 2 days afterwards should be SWI days.

I think I should be getting a positive OPK towards the end of next week, so will be SWI'ing from Monday onwards! (Maybe a bit of practice before then...)

harmony welcome! how old is your DS2? sounds like you are aiming for quite a small age gap between #2 and #3?

Byrnsie30 · 19/08/2011 10:04

Hey all,

I worry about being PG too after 2 early MC's - I just try to tell myself it'll be worth it in the end!

Spuddy I believe you have a 24-48 hour window to conceive after ovulation. I try to dtd an extra day just for good measure ;)

Also, sperm are supposed to hang around for up to 5 days after sex so if you've dtd before +ov test then you may have some reserves just waiting for an egg! Good luck. I think we are on roughly the same time scale, I am due to Ov on Monday so in full swi mode at the mo! x

harmonyb23 · 18/08/2011 20:47

Thanks for adding me in Horsey.

Mersea I know how you feel. I fell pregnant with DS1 when I was 14 and was soo scared. I didn't find out I was pregnant till 24 weeks as I was still having periods etc. My mum and dad were soo shocked and I found it very hard to come to terms with the fact I was pregnant and no sooner did I know it DS1 was here.

When I tried to get pregnant the second time at the age of 21 I was terrified. Not just of being pregnant but of what my mum and dad would think etc... I had an ectopic before I had DS2 and was terrified this would happen again. I love being pregnant though and although the first 3 months are always a worry it is well worth it. I'm sure you'll get pregnant when you are ready and if your sure that you had CM today then you've always got tomorrow morning/day to try :)

Just coming to the end of AF now so I shall be OPK testing soon. Already been doing a bit of S(W/O)I.

Back to work in a couple of weeks and I really don't want to go, been enjoying being at home with the kids and being able to breastfeed DS2 instead of him having formula - I love the closeness of BF'ing.... Oh well! It's only a couple of weeks and then it's half term (got to love working in a school).

Hope everyone is well :)

FloydieDoydie · 18/08/2011 20:27

Tickets please ladies! I've been AWOL for a week or so; was trying not to stress too much, especially as I missed four days swi because I was away for some (non preggo related) tests.

I should be in my fertile zone right now - although negative OPK today Sad - so need to get himself to get on it (me).

Spuddybean · 18/08/2011 19:30

Hello everyone. I pee'd on the ovulation stick tonight and got a line so gonna leap on DP when he comes back from the gym - i hope he's not too tired!

Does anyone know how long have you got after you get the line to conceive?

Mersea · 18/08/2011 17:46

Thank you both for your reply, it's good to know others also feel like this sometimes. I think trying for a baby later in life does seem scary as you have been settled for so long just the 2 of you and I am happy with the way we are. You're right about skipping the pregnancy bit it would be ideal, just need to stay focused on the nice result. I am sure my dp and I can work through this and thinking too much is something I need to control before I drive myself crazy. Good to talk to you, it's reassuring and I do feel less lonely Smile

Imustbecrazy26 · 18/08/2011 17:45

Hi all,

Well cd 46 for me and still no af and no chance of being preggers this month as me and dp havent dtd for 3 weeks!!!!!! Feeling abit down about it all at the min!!!!

Hope everyone else is well!

desperateoldie67 · 18/08/2011 13:21

Don't feel upset and abnormal, and certainly don't feel like you can't come here and chat about how you feel. Just cos we're rampantly desperate to get up the duff, doesn't mean we're not shitting ourselves too!! Frankly, I'm terrified. If I think about it too long, I too would resemble a rabbit in the headlights, so have no fear Mersea you're not alone :)

If by some remote chance (I'm 44 next month) I do manage to conceive, then I will be shit scared from thereon in! And I'm in complete denial about the whole pushing a baby out of my fanjo bit... :o

HorseyGirl1 · 18/08/2011 13:13

HI Mersea, not at all. I've felt like that - maybe natural when you have had a m/c as I have too. Sometimes although I'm crushed when AF arrives, a tiny bit of me is relieved also. I really dread being pregnant again and sometimes I wonder why am I putting myself through this. But then I think how nice it would be for us to have our own child and have the pleasure of bringing him or her up. Wish I could just bypass the pregnancy bit though x

Mersea · 18/08/2011 00:02

I had a good show of CM today (sorry for the detail!) and decided to dtd but when it came to it DP said I looked like a rabbit stuck in headlights and I did feel really scared at the thought of being pg. We started talking and of course that was as far as we got! So chance missed, not sure why I get like this I am sure I want a baby but just get a real panic on when it comes to doing something about it Confused. I know I must sound crazy and completely the opposite to all you lovely ladies so desperate to conceive I end up feeling so upset and abnormal.

desperateoldie67 · 17/08/2011 19:02

Indigestion and heartburn here I come...when will I ever learn? Blush

desperateoldie67 · 17/08/2011 19:02

Sounds like you're having a lovely time Bleats :) Fingers crossed for you.

All you can eat curry sounds better than what I just had for my tea - Sunday's left over pork dipped in mustard, a couple of slices of farmhouse loaf with butter and half a packet of beetroot - that's just not normal, is it?! :o

I just told my housemate that if she hears me screaming in the morning when I visit the bathroom for a tiddle, she should remind me about last night's beetroot LMAO!

Bleats · 17/08/2011 18:42

Sorry to have been so remiss but I am currently touring the folks in the South West and only just discovered an internet connection. This has meant lots of SWI (I love a hotel room!) and generally reconnecting with DH. Wonderful and fingers not legs crossed.

Hello to all the newbees - this is turning into a busy bus just bustling with crampy symptons - albeit in the positive way. Sorry to Harmony for your AF but the best of luck for this time around. AM and Desperate I am looking out for you guys for the first BFPs.

Right off for all you can eat curry Grin

After AF being 5 days late and lots of possible symptoms, but BFNs, I have fallen off the April bus. After a good sob and a big cup of tea, I am picking myself up, and am joining this bus.

Byrnsie30 · 17/08/2011 09:17

Hey all,

Well I am leading up to OV and swi every other day in the lead up! Feeling a bit more positive again.

After posing the question 'what is the point of swi when I'm not OV?' I remembered how sperm can survive up to 5 days in the female body, and some of it just hangs around waiting for an egg!

spuddy, with the CB digital OV test info there is a chart included advising when you should start POAS, based on cycle length. So, for example, I have a cycle length of 33 days and it advises me to start testing on CD 16. I also used a free on-line OV calculator and this seems to agree with the CB advice. After a couple of months predicting and testing I can say that the info has been acurate! Hope this helps!

As for EWCM - I have no idea - bit squeamish about it to check properly. However, I do use pre-seed and like it! x
