Hello! Just miscarried and ready to start again, come and join us...

OP posts:
Summerbird73 · 13/09/2011 09:38

may i be a bit self indulgent please...

i got a text this morning from my friends husband. she had her baby girl this morning. we announced our PG's together Sad. I was stood at the tram stop wiping away the tears. it is odd because more than anything else i am so happy for her, she really is a lovely caring friend and was devastated when i had my MC. I am sad as i should be 36 weeks pg now and packing my hospital bag, but i love my friend to bits and am thrilled she has a little girl.

Anyway, that is it really. I had a word with my Grandad 'up there in t'sky' and told him to send us some good luck, i promised him if he did then i would name my child after him Smile

Summerbird73 · 13/09/2011 09:33

pie glad to hear you 'got the goods' it was missg who started the Desperate Housewives-v-Mad Men craze. And look where it got her?! Grin

baby not surprised you are getting the bad end of the high wind, i know where you live and it is beautiful countryside, if a bit open. Good luck!

boobeez in true MN style 'take no notice of DH' (i wont go the whole MN hog and say 'leave the fecker' as they do on Relationships and AIBU!!) he is doing what my DH does, wants to get excited but wont 'believe it until he sees it'

IQ i am happy to welcome your sister into the Northern Fold. I bet she is walking in crutches as we speak Wink Ask away about BFing on here if you like. I have hidden the FF/BF topics as they get me so wound up.

Basically my story is (actually this is a bit long): I really wanted to BF as (a) it is free! and (b) Breast is best innit?. Well that didnt quite work out. I successfully BFd for a week (in fact the midwives were praising me for being so chilled about it). Then after week 2 it got ridiculous, i was constantly feeding for 3 hours at a time Shock it was the height of summer and i was fraught to say the least. DS wasnt settling and was getting frustrated when i had no milk left. DH wanted to top him up with FF but i was so post natal i was convinced that FF was poison because of all the hassle you get from the MW and HVs. I was so low. The turning point came one night when DH fed DS a bottle of expressed milk at 2am to give me some rest. The bottle wasnt enough so he had to wake me anyway. The next day i prepared a load of FF bottles and weaned DS off the boob within a week (cabbage leaves down the bra really really does work - i used to walk around with little green leaves peeping out of my top!)

Anyway, DS was fine on the bottle and ended up sleeping 12hrs a night by 6weeeks old. What upset me was the passive aggressive comments i would get from my friend who should be a Govt BF Champion! We are still friends but she did say some things without thinking. My mantra is: it doesnt matter how you feed your child, as long as they are thriving and getting some sort of nutrition then you are doing a good job. Oh and stay away from the threads on here, if you are FF you are poisoning your child and if you are BF in public then you are a titty flasher... you cant win! I am in awe of everyone who can successfully BF for any length of time.

pebspop · 13/09/2011 09:24

thanks for the replies everyone. i will speak to the consultant about it in two weeks. at least she is a woman so might be a bit more sympathetic.

the doctor thinks it might be pyschological and if i stop worrying it wil come back. i don't think i am particularly worrying so don't really believe him.

manda i did get induced and had to have the op to remove the placenta.

after checking my temps again this morning it has gone back down to normal - think the rise over the weekend was from drinking too much oops! doesn't look like i ov'd then.

ShimmeryPixie · 13/09/2011 09:06

Congratulations boobeez. And well done Pie Wink - that's dedication to the cause!

Can't stop, so I'll catch up later. Innit.

PieMistress · 13/09/2011 08:28

Awww IQ your scan sounds fab!

How is everybody today?

Well, despite DP's upset stomach I managed to errrrr get the goods desperate housewives styleeeee Grin (aka missg or was it manda ?!) told him he didn't need to do anything except lie back and I'd take care of the rest Blush but needs must!!

So, CD17 today but no temp rise yet, but hopefully tomorrow!

Waves to all and passes around some nice warm brioche :)

Boobeez · 12/09/2011 21:43

Thanks guys and thanks to missg for words of encouragement. Feel a bit like I'm walking on a tightrope at the moment! Told DH who nagged me for testing (men can't understand what it's like) it's all very well being all logical about it, but this is pretty emotive stuff as you all know! He has said he won't get excited until the 12 week scan... I'm with you on the prodding missg. I need to stop doing it cos I'm gonna get myself arrested! Big breath and big PMA! Xxx

InsomniaQueen · 12/09/2011 21:34

Taking it easy...ish with my crutches but unfortunately my sister has had to go home so I'm on my own now and have to care for myself which is a bit pants but I have managed to cook myself some meals and wash up which I wasn't able to do 2 weeks ago. So full catch up on scan with baby IQ - it really was lovely and I was very glad but it was that initial moment of "where is the heartbeat".....I didn't have the "is anything there moment" but I was totally silent until she moved down and I could see the heart beating away. It was nice to see proper features like nose, cheeks ect but I suppose the nicest thing was seeing the spine as it made the baby seem real IYSWIM! Everyone who I've spoken to has said their baby was dancing/bouncing all mine seemed to do was stretch and wiggle his bum....but I suppose he (yes I've decided its a boy) simply just takes after his dad and likes a lot of sleep!!! Due date is 18th March 2012....just praying that me and the little man make it there safely. Currently watching 'royal navy submarine mission' which I am in love with as I have a thing about ships/subs....yes weird but I do love it!!! Right so enough about me - must catch up with all you lovely ladies!!

Zebra unbelievably jealous of your 'work'.....which I could work in NY but I suppose most of my salary would end up going on shoes and clothes so maybe not really the best idea!!

missg the problem has been ongoing for a while for me but with the relaxed ligaments and increased weight the physio wants me to take the weight off now before I end up with a major issue.....so another 6 months of being 4 legged I think!!! Fully agree with the other ladies about your oscar winning performance....totally loved this. It is all very stressful getting a BFP post MC but the 'one in four' doesn't necessarily mean you. Each pregnancy is different so I think you've done the right thing by having the day off.

pebs sorry your dr was so rubbish but hope that a bit of time away and relaxation will help to bring things along. I'm jealous of your holiday.....I love holidays but as DH has put me on a flying ban I won't be going anywhere for a while. Definitely hope that you are able to get back on the wagon in october so that you can join the other metallers here!!

poppy how was your birthday? hope you had a really good day at the zoo I hope and a sneaky dinner with DH....I haven't been to the zoo for years I suppose these are things to look forward to in my future!!

marathon - totally loved your scan description....I've managed to hold off crying but I think that is more cos mt sister threatens me whenever I get too overwrought!! hope that you can convince the midwife about your dates as it would be bloody pants to get all that way and be induced unnecessarily. I've now told my work team as its pretty damn obvious but still feel like its pretty early so trying to not get too attached Hmm....I'll let you know how I get on with that!!

baby so glad you got AF..IYSWIM and hope that you are able to get back on the SWI cart soon so that you can join the other ladies in the metal corner. Also how was your birthday? Hope it was lovely!! And good luck with nailing the windows back in.... Confused!!

shimmery sorry to hear work is so mental but glad that you actually enjoy it and that your still managing to squeeze in some SWI....you little minx!!

manda forget about being 'me' really were all here together and your 'me' is something we all want to help with where we can!! Hope that you are feeling a little better after buying your peace lily. How old is the little one that your still breastfeeding? Wanted to ask about breastfeeding generally on MN but some of the ladies are a bit 'intense'!! Don't worry about testing I bought 2 boxes of cb digi's and tested weekly to check that the 'weeks pg' increased each time....it gave me a sense of relief to see it change every week!!

blue glad you had a lovely time on your holiday and packed in so much SWI many lovely activities!!!also love your being at your desk looking busy...I couldn't get on to have a look today so thought I would do a catch up before bed tonight.

pie I know what you mean about the innocence of never having experienced an MC....I haven't even thought about shopping for mini iq as I don't want to jinx it and really don't feel ready to buy anything until I get my DH home and we have been for our 4d scan - I think him being here will be that bit of support I need to go and buy a pack of scratch mits!!

summer yes please for the 70s meal - prawn cocktail is one of my fave things!! Please come this way into the mosh pit IQ opens the red velvet rope and invites summer into the mosh pit. Also loving your shaking of manda....really I think you and my sister would get on like a house on fire....she has decided that she is really from "up north" despite being born and bred in london. To answer your question she has stopped having her sympathetic pregnancy but is on hand to threaten me everytime I get worried so I suppose she is still doing her job!!!

boobeez....arrgggghhh congratulations - scary but wonderful - sending you plenty of sticky thoughts and hoping that everything will continue well for you!!

Right I think I got to everyone and now it is definitely time to get to bed as I'm struggling to keep my eyes open....night lovely ladies!!! Xxx

babysaurus · 12/09/2011 21:25

Hello,
I can't write much as we're in the process of nailing the windows back in (don't ask) as there are gale force winds.
But... wanted to send Manda a massive hug. I have been reading the thread, on and off, but couldn't add much as signal has been shite (poss due to storms) so connection via phone (where I kept dipping in and out) kept going. Sorry! I can't add much else that the others haven't already said but am thinking of you xx

Boobeez - congrats! Fab news!

Right, I need to rush but will be reading tomorrow even if I can't post that much. I shall also try and reply properly tomorrow too.

PieMistress · 12/09/2011 21:24

congrats on bfp boobeez!!

we had quiche tonight (is that 80's????). Have got ov pain and EWCM after + opk yesterday but DP has a tummy upset and one more

pebs I can remember how fustrated I was when it took 8 weeks for AF to appear! I hope you ov on hols and the witch doesn't even make an appearance at all! :)

summer will grab some cava - cheers!

Summerbird73 · 12/09/2011 21:09

blue its ok i know you were sort-of complimenting my chasseur, you werent complaining when you were helping yourself to seconds were you? eh? eh?

boobeez congrats to you on your BFP! yippeeeee and i bet you will just blurt it out to DH if-you-are-anything-like-me that is fabulous!! when is your due date? and i am glad you were lurking, it is good to know you have been metalling too! here have some prawn cocktail and a glass of sparkling mineral water Smile

on the other hand pebs i am so frustrated for you, how can you just 'relax' if you havent had AF for 10 weeks Angry honestly some GPs are subtle as a brick. Come on in and join the dinner party, i have poured you a glass of reisling and there is some dried-out chicken left over

BlueCrane · 12/09/2011 20:12

D'oh...my comment about the chasseur didn't post correctly Blush

Missgiraffe1 · 12/09/2011 20:11

ooops sorry Blue and Summer, I'm blaming placenta brain Smile

Congrats Boobeez and thanks!! I totally know what you mean. I've only known for 2 weeks but it feels like months!!! Wish I had a fast forward button. It's so bloody hard not saying anything. I keep messing up and almost saying things in front of friends (probably because I've been telling so many porkies recently and I forget what I've told to who!) I think you should tell DH. It's a joint venture after all and you would need his support IF anything was to happen. Anyway, Mrs thread mantra namesake, we will hear of no IFs on here Smile PMA all the way! (she says as she starts to prod boobs and panic irrationally as she realises that boobs have always been incredibly tender by 6 weeks in previous PGs, but aren't now Confused )

BlueCrane · 12/09/2011 20:10

boobeez Grin super congrats on the BFP!!

summer the chasseur was delightfully dried out and the Cava complimented it wonderfully...thank you Smile

peb so sorry to hear about absent AF and unhelpful docs...really hope you did Ov and that you have a fantastic holiday next week, without AF though strangely I guess it would be a relief if she did turn up!

After my lack of sleep last night I'm taking things easy tonight watching TV and will be having an early night I think!

MandaHugNKiss · 12/09/2011 19:19

peb I don't remember if you mentioned, forgive me for asking if you did, but I assume you were induced? And did they then have to do any surgery to remove the placenta, as often it doesn't come away itself at that stage?

Fingers crossed you did O, and that AF won't ruin your holiday noetheless. Have a great time.

MandaHugNKiss · 12/09/2011 19:16

Many congrats, boob, what good news!

I want to go to a 70's themed dinner party now. It all sounds just soooooo sophisticated!

pebspop · 12/09/2011 19:15

congrats boobeez

just got back from the doctors. even though af hasn't started 10 weeks after mc, they wouldn't give me anything. :(

he said it would just be giving me extra hormones and it's better to let my body sort itself out. he said i should forget about it and it will happen (yeah right!!).

i have to go back in three months(!) if nothing happens. he did say it probably would by then though.

i have got an appointment with my consultant in two weeks to discuss the results of my mc testing so i will mention it again then.

i am off to tenerife with dh on saturday so knowing my luck af will come then!

i have just started temping and today my chart showed that i might have ov'd over the weekend so maybe af will come in a couple of weeks.

Boobeez · 12/09/2011 18:33

Hi girls! It's me boobeez. I haven't posted for a while but have read up every now and then on how you've all been doing. Congrats to iq, manda, missg and marathon! Sorry if i've missed anyone. Hope it's all going well for you all and hallooo to everyone else ;0) your posts have made me smile while I've been sitting out of the metal room. Ok, well I have some news... Just this minute got a bfp and feel freaked out. Bit wary of telling DH, as he said I should test in a couple of weeks - as if!! Also want to save him heartache if it doesn't work out...hmm. Want to go and hibernate for 9 months now!! Biggest giveaway this month was the boobeez which have been sore for about 2weeks now...I have a packet of m & ms if anyone wants them. Don't think i can manage them now! Xxxxxx

Summerbird73 · 12/09/2011 18:29

oh and you all have to wear a kaftan or a maxi dress a la Alison Steadman in Abigails Party!

Summerbird73 · 12/09/2011 18:28

Ha i can see it is easy to confuddle me and blue we are, after all, wearing matching mosh gear, and metalling like mad!!! yep i do hate the 2WW too which is why i suggested 'Come Dine Avec Moi' this evening.

Right the Chicken Chasseur is bubbling in the oven and will be suitably dried-out casseroled by the time you all get here at 7pm sharp. The cheap Reisling is chilling in the fridge and i have pushed the boat out, and bought a bottle of Cava!

Nibbles and Babycham on arrival. With a perrier water for the bumps (or is that too 80s? maybe someone else can do the 80s night?) Grin

BlueCrane · 12/09/2011 17:30

missg that list was summers so my small list was the first for this cycle Smile can't say I have any food aversions yet and my tiredness could easily be linked to my restless/sleepless nights! Oh how I do hate the 2ww and as much as I try to stay calm and not symptom spot it comes and gets me again Blush

Missgiraffe1 · 12/09/2011 17:22

Erm, Blue first symptom spotting? Confused

"..however i had two glasses (count 'em) of wine on saturday night and fell asleep aaaand the same happened last night. My colleague made me a coffee and i at it this morning."

Tiredness and food aversions have already been reported. Your list is impressive! Grin

BlueCrane · 12/09/2011 16:23

Ooh summer menu sounds fab...and I'm sure will help with my painful super bloated tum too Hmm can I put that as my first 'symptom spot' of this cycle...super bloating, needing to pee often, strange vivid dreams on saturday night and awake from 3am last night... Hmm that ended up being quite a list...wasn't expecting that! Just been called into a meeting...catch you all later...what time for dinner summer ?? Smile

Missgiraffe1 · 12/09/2011 16:05

Hehe Summer I am there!! And all featured regularly on my Aunt's pub menu - awesome! Stomach feeling much better now! (not enough to try the Prawn balti I had planned for dinner right enough Sad )

ShimmeryPixie · 12/09/2011 16:03

I'll dine avec you Summer. The mash potato and chocolate fudge cake are calling to me...

Summerbird73 · 12/09/2011 15:51
