Hello! Just miscarried and ready to start again, come and join us...

Okay, I didn't want to drone on earlier but now after a glass or two I do so...
Please can I have some PMA? I feel fed up today about the whole TTC thing. Spoke to a friend for over an hour tonight who's 6 months pregnant and I kept thinking that I was a mere 7 weeks behind her Sad She had two MC's and I know she can relate to how I feel, and I could talk to her about it, but now she's off the phone I just feel fed up. And frustrated! I almost half wish I'd never even ventured on this TTC lark in the first place as it seems to do nothing but do my head in (even when I was pg and didn't know anything was wrong it did my head in in other ways!)
I keep thinking of things we may plan for, say, 6 months time, and can't help but think 'will I be pg by then' and similar thoughts. But! What if it does take ages? What if I mc again?!
Then its back to square frigging one. Marvellous.

MarathonMama · 04/09/2011 19:58

Oh Summer your post made me cry, how old is your DS? My DD is just two and I'd love to hear those words, I bet you were smiling for hours!

Peps your car sounds fab, let's hope it works Wink

Blue grabs a choc muffin, thanks! 73 years is blinkin' impressive! What's their secret??? Hope they're both ok, glad to hear they're sounding better than expected. I don't have any grandparents left and really miss them (especially my matriarch grandmothers, both were awesome woman, I didn't really know my grandfathers that well). Hope AF buggers off soon so you can SWI without company, IYSWIM. Enjoy your break!!!

MissG am so with you re. the girl from Fife, what was going on with Michelle Rowland and the waterworks? Very OTT IMO. Also, she sang an Adele song and wasn't a patch on Adele, she was good, don't get me wrong, but not as good as the hype she got from the judges and audience. You can only assume that the other people they'd seen that day were rubbish or that she doesn't come across as well on the telly.

Hope you enjoyed the cocktails. The last time I went out I got there first, ordered a round of cocktails including a virgin one for me which I was drinking when they arrived (they were non the wiser) and then had a glass of wine with dinner that DH kept drinking when our friends weren't looking.

How are you feeling? I'm trying not to think about the scan but the time is really dragging. Just want it over and done with now.

Manda good to hear from you. I've got everything crossed that it's good news. Are you POAS every day?

Baby glad to hear you had a nice time with your niece, hope baby arrives soon for "J".

Shimmery please can you come and do my garden? Plants hate me, they go brown just looking at me.

Did you all see that Amanda Holden is pg again? I'm not her biggest fan (she always seems a bit smug) but have been impressed with her PMA. She's told everyone early this time as she "knows" it's going to be ok. Apparently she took advice from Zita West.

Hello to everyone I've missed, just off to check on my homemade crumble (passes it round with custard or ice cream) and to watch Dragon's Den...

babysaurus · 04/09/2011 19:11

Hello all,
No cousin baby news as such but my wayward Grandma told me last night that 'J' had gone into labour. I sent my cousin and J a good luck message only to get one promptly back saying she 'had NOT gone into labour, night x' However, developing news is now that she is in hospital being monitored as she has had a week of on / off concrations. Watch this space...

I was going to log on last night but was far too tired after spending the day with my gorgeous neice. She is fab, very cute indeed, and DH LOVES her too (always a bonus Wink)

MandaHugNKiss · 04/09/2011 12:26

missG!! I am shocked and also in awe of your lies! I mean, all in a good cause and that, but soooo convincing. I'd be sold and I can normally smell a rat a mile away!

My tests are still bfn but I am only 9 dpo today so... yeah.

Man, I'd kill for some prawn satay just now. A whole LOAD of it

Missgiraffe1 · 04/09/2011 10:03

Happy hols Blue !!!

Missgiraffe1 · 04/09/2011 10:02

Morning everyone!

Pie Welcome back, hope you had a lovely holiday. What about that girl from Fife last night (had to laugh when she said the place was a 'dive')? Personally, I think the judges were OTT (does make good TV of course), I thought she was fab, but not quite to the extent the judges did! With a wee bit of vocal training though, she could be amazing. I don't know anything about charting, so can't really say anything helpful. Maybe the next months blood tests will be better news FX.

Baby any cousin baby news yet? And how did it go babysittng your niece? My nephew is getting WILD, but hilarious with it.

Cheers for the prawn advice IQ and Marathon. King prawn satay here I come! Yuuuuummm..... Marathon not long now until your scan. How are you feeling?
And IQ you? Is your sis back this weekend looking after you? (wish I had a sis like her! I just 1 bro, with ! crazy little boy, who both create mess in ways I never thought possible!)

Summer I did have a shloer last night actually, cheers. Hope you enjoyed your Wine . And Smile at your DS's declaration of love. They are just sooo cute. What age is he again?

Shimmery sounds like you're having a productive time off? My garden needs some colour, so feel free to also pop round to mine and brighten it up! It currently has half-built decking and over-grown grass Blush , my BFs DH is building the decking so I can't really get onto him to HURRY UP (as much as I would like to Smile )

Pebs happy new car! Hope it works (not the car, the theory. Well, obviously I hope the car works of course Grin )

Blue hope you kissed and made up, that and your SWI plans are well underway this month.

Waves to Manda Eve Zebra Poppy and whatso wishes everyone a lovely Sunday. I am off out later for Sunday afternoon cocktails . My friends will immediately be suspicious when I tell them I'm driving. So, my cover up plan is that my SIL phoned not long before I left the house asking if I could babysit tonight, as her work have asked her to do an extra nightshift tonight as payback for when she took one off the other week when the wee man wasn't well. Genius, as my friends know I would drop everything for my wee nephew Smile

BlueCrane · 04/09/2011 09:53

Morning all...thanks so much for all your lovely thoughts re. my Grandparents. I spoke to them yesterday as it was Grandma's 95th birthday and they didn't sound too bad...but so difficult to tell over the phone! It will be their 73rd wedding anniversary next weekend! Hmm hat could well have just 'outed' me as there can't be many people who have relations married that long...oh well! Anyway, DH and I made up on Friday night - think we were both just over tired, AF carried on spotting yesterday (CD11!!!) but we did manage to get the SWI started so feeling Smile about that!! Now nearly packed for hols so will do a quick round up before we go!

missg so sorry to hear about your Gran, hope she recovers well and that she does make it out of the hospital!! definite raise of Brew and Wine to fabulous Grandparents!! Grin

pie sorry to hear about AF... yeah for your friend, that's great news! Hope you get some answers from the clinic soon!

shimmery loving the June squad hoodies Go with the PMA too...enjoy your break!

summer your moment with DS is definitely something to cling to in the midst of all of this!! Hope you enjoyed your Wine there's a few of us who will be moshing together in a week or so!!

peb v Envy of your new car as I want one of those!!! Really love them!! Enjoy!!

Must go and finish the packing...will try and do a quick check later before we go but just in case Have a great week everyone...hope there's lots of SWI, metalling and hanging in there before scans etc! Don't chatter too much or I'll never be able to catch up when I get back!! Take care all...

pebspop · 04/09/2011 08:43

i bought my new car yesterday! it's definately too small for a baby, pram etc so fingers crossed sods law works!!

i love my car it's soooo cute!! can't wait until i pick it up later in the week.

i am carrying on with my temping. i got a bit excited yesterday as it went up a lot but it's back down to the normal temp today. think i did it a bit later yesterday so maybe thats why it was unusual for me. anyone else taking temperatures? i am using fertility friend to chart. hoping it will help me to see why af hasn't started yet and whether i will ovulate or not.

Summerbird73 · 03/09/2011 20:24

oo shimmery you can come and do my garden no seriously i looove deep purple and reds, DH is a keen gardener and our garden is lovely but full of bright colours goddamit!

welcome back pie sorry AF got you, it looks like we are all synched again! we will be holding hands in the 2WW in a few days time Confused

missg thank you for your thoughts, yep no one will ever match up to my DGrandad and i have definitely decided that a middle name for a boy or girl will be Cassidy - just need to convince DH now, he is sold on the girls name but i may need some extra persuasion to use it for a boy.

I went to a party this afternoon, it was a birthday party/welcome to the world for the birthday girls newborn sister. I held the 2week old for a while and felt a little choked but generally it geared me into action to get cracking with this mission Grin she was adorable though.....

I meant to say - on Thursday night DS said 'i love you' for the first time and then said 'cuddle' it was soooo amazing i was a wreck! Smile hopefully it was the first of many Hmm

cheers everyone Wine i have opened a bottle of sauvignon blanc if anyone fancies joining me - with a sparkling shloer for marathon iq and missg [hic]

Hi Guys

I am definitely up for having a June baby . Marathon's statistic that most people who have an MC will have a baby/be pg within 2 years has helped boost my attitude. Eventually one will stick and stay stuck. It will happen.

You have all been very busy it seems. Hello to pebspop and welcome to the mosh pit. Sorry that things have been stressful for you Marathon and hope things are more settled soon - I know that my DH is a bit at a loss regarding MCs (he compensates by making nice food and buying me flowers, but he doesn't do visible emotion - to the extent that on the few times I have seen him cry, it has scared the life out of me).

Blue, sorry to hear about your grandparents. It's awful when you know it's almost time.

Baby - you walked 8.5 miles in one go? I can do about 6, but 8.5 is a pretty hefty venture.

I am currently on vacation from work (1-5 September). As you know, this was originally perfectly timed for SWI, but things changed Angry. However, I am enjoying myself nonetheless, and am baking biscuits (honey oatcakes anyon^) and cooking dinners like a pro. I have also planted a whole load of tulips and daffodils for next year. DH is amused at my gardening - he's now calling the back a "goth garden" as it is full of deep purple/red or simply poisonous (e.g. monkshood) plants...

PieMistress · 03/09/2011 19:58

Quick Hi! Am back from a great hols but unfortunately the EVIL WITCH got me on the first day :( so am back on the SWI this cycle! Congrats missg!!!! So happy for you!!

Will be back later once i've managed to catch up with all i've missed! There wasn't even a phone signal in the cottage we were staying in! I felt very cut off (but did find out a close friend is now 6 weeks pg after having a m/c about a month before I did, am so happy for her).

My GP also called and said my progesterone results showed I didn't ovulate last cycle but FF shows I did with a clear temp rise so not sure what's going on. Am now in the queue for the 'clinic' though but not sure how long I'll have to wait!

Anyway! Big HI to all, time for pizza and x-factor then hopefully a MN catch up! xx

Missgiraffe1 · 03/09/2011 10:18

Zebra HcG doesn't need to drop to 0 before ovulation, but it does need to drop to a low level, but what that is, I don't know. Sorry, I'm no expert either. They consider 5 and below to be non-pg, but I've read stories of women who've obviously ovulated - as the got pg - before HcG dropped to that level.

Blue sorry to hear your grandparents aren't doing too well. It doesn't matter how old they are, it doesn't feel any easier trying to get your head around the fact that their time here may be coming to an end. I can empathise. My Gran, who is 90, fell down the stairs on Thursday night, has broken her hip and wrist Sad and ripped all the flesh off one of her shins (sounds really grim). At her age, and with her other health problems, we are not sure she'll ever leave the hospital now Sad. and Summer I know you were really close to your Grandpa and miss him loads. I am raising my Brew in honour of all the lovely grandparents we miss, or wish well.

(have just made myself cry)

I am knackered today, nephew is full of the cold, so can't breathe out of his nose. Was up almost every hour during the night. Suppose it's good practice Wink I broke all the rules and took him into bed with me for Auntie giraffe cuddles Smile . Doesn't seem to be too bothered though, he is now running about my sitting room shouting beagle and poodle - his 2 new words. so cute Grin

Summerbird73 · 02/09/2011 23:27

blue here have a Wine i know how it is when you are so emotionally close to your grandparents. Forget about the PMA and just have a big old me me me moment and a little blub on me..... [hugs]

babysaurus · 02/09/2011 22:45

Blue you need wine, not bloody tea! Have some,. treat yourself, and I'm sending you a PMA hug! x

BlueCrane · 02/09/2011 22:33

Evening all...seem to have lost the PMA somewhere in the midst of crazy work and AF deciding to do a bit more spotting today Angry really wish she'd just go now...CD10 and fed up! Should be feeling chirpy now that I've finished work for hols but was just draining today trying to get stuff ready to hand over, the AF thing and my Mum told me that my Grandma and Grandad who are in their mid 90's and also live overseas (where Mum is - 12 hour flight away) are really not doing well...Grandma keeps having TIA's (mini-strokes) most days now and Grandad's heart isn't doing well and he's so so breathless now Sad we went out to see them in January and said our 'goodbyes' but still v v hard not to be there and to think that they might not be around much longer. And now just popped out to pick up DH from work and he's had a bad day too and we've just had a stupid argument on the way home so just feeling so fed up with everything!! Supposed to be starting the SWI tomorrow so need to make up...which I would always want to do before sleep anyway.

Sorry for me me post...not got the brain to name-check at the mo...might go in search of a Brew or Wine and some left-over apple and rhubarb crumble!

Summerbird73 · 02/09/2011 21:07

oh my word we are a chatty bunch - loving missg and babys little offshoot chat last night Smile

marathon i am sorry to hear about your argument with DH. We had our worst one not long after DS was born (i told him that he only wanted DS to show off to his family and friends and behind closed doors he was as pig headed as his father Blush ). I cant give you any wisdom only to say that i hope you both can work through this and clear the air, which i am sure you will. and the friend situation; god yes that would completely piss me off, i see your point about 'my friend sarah' Hmm yes it is clear that she is feeling insecure but i guess you have to just go along with it, after all you will be joining their baby club soon!

missg and zebra thank you for your kind words about Cassidy, i just love the name anyway. Grandad was like a father to me so it will be a fitting tribute Smile ooo and missg i think Caitlin is a beautiful name, i have hardly heard of any others actually so it is definitely not too popular.

blue you truly are queen of the WTF cycle, god you must be so frustrated Confused here why not join me in a glass of Wine

eve i did chuckle at you working whilst wearing a fascinator! Grin hope you feel better by the wedding, and have a lovely day Smile

well it is only CD7 but me and DH managed to SWI last night, and intend to as much as we can muster next week - i have missgs stats to hand and shall be referring to the timescale closely! Hmm

waves to shimmery manda pebs whatso baby and everyone else in the mosh pit!

zebradoodle · 02/09/2011 19:07

Hiya ladies, got to be speedy as scooting off for the weekend, but just wanted to give everyone a quick ...

Pebs, not yet doing inappropriate things to tempt fate, but am definitely going to start. Pure genius.

Eve, really hope you enjoy the wedding, remember you're easily as beautiful as any of them, and your new fascinator sounded gorgeous. Boobs out and all that!

Marathon, second MissG's fine advice about your DH. Also, if you are feeling brave enough for a chat with him about it, might also be worth trying to put across that however angry he is, calling the sort of names you mentioned isn't ever helpful, and just makes you feel more hurt after the event. Hmmm, I'm not explaining myself very well, but trying to suggest to him a more constructive and less confrontational style of disagreement in general, if that makes any sense? Oh, and definitely recommend that last rolo.

Baby, much DIY PMA to you, it'll get there and be gorgeous when it's finished I'm sure :)

Blue, feeling your pain on the pre-holiday work-crunch, aaargh. Why is it that one just ends up having to do twice as much work the week before to get it all done, hmmmm Hmm. Maybe some Wine?

Also, thanks Marathon for the good advice on getting a -ve first, was wondering if that might be a good plan so will definitely go for it I think (oh, the irony of fervently hoping for that negative Hmm). Onwards and upwards and all that (more irony in apparently finding my PMA under a pee-stick, it's been strangely absent most of the day until now)!

Am I right in thinking there's no chance of ovulation until hcg levels have returned to that negative result anyway (sorry if that's a completely noddy question, I'm new to paying attention to all this Blush).

and waves furiously at shimmery, pie and everyone else (with requisite apology as am speeding and KNOW I've missed someone)...

InsomniaQueen · 02/09/2011 17:32

Hi all - will catch up properly later (after my take away when my blood sugar will be sufficient to actually remember what I'm talking about and to who)

Just wanted to say to MissG that I checked the seafood advise with my midwife at my appointment as it's my face thing ever......the current advice is to eat it if you trust the source and are sure it's been cooked properly. If it's been pre frozen then the risk is even lower. The issue with shellfish was the concern about red tide poisoning but obviously food standards (in most places) have improved a lot since that advice was given. She did say don't go mad and have it every day but if you treat it like you would tuna ie only having a certain serving per week you should be more than fine. After getting the go ahead I had huge king prawns at a restaurant and I felt great knowing I had checked it before hand.

Additionally on the things to avoid - I had a stinking cold before getting my BFP and was covered in vicks and drinking covonia hourly.....no spoon just sipping it straight out of the bottle. Unbeknownst to me this is a big no no and all decongestant medicine should be avoided......I spent a few weeks beating myself up over it but have come to the conclusion I can only do the right thing from now on and since then haven't even taken paracetamol even though I'm told it's safe cos I'm a basket case!!!!

Love to all!!! Xxxx

Missgiraffe1 · 02/09/2011 16:17

Yikes, I was just reading up on foods to avoid and I came across this qwn the NHS website:

"Hi, I had consumed 30ml(Bailey's whisky) on the 9th day after conception (i.e first week of my pregnancy). Would that be a problem? Someone please advise on this..
Thanks,"

I know many of these are probably intentionally written by the NHS, but how about being a bit more realistic:

"I gubbed a bottle of High Tide's yummy Cabernet Sauvignon on Friday night then found out I was pg on the Monday. Will I be ok? " Grin Grin (I sure bloody hope so!)

babysaurus · 02/09/2011 15:38

Hello all,
Just got back in from yet another mammoth dog walk. I think my waistline is starting to see the benefits too, at least I bloody hope so! Maybe this too can be under the tempting fate / sods law stuff - ie get slimmer just before getting pg and therefore getting spherical! I can but hope! Wink

MarathonMama hope you're feeling a bit more chipper. These things take time (cliche I know) and ups and downs must be very much par the course. As for the dishwasher stuff, my DH can be similarly frustrating! We are currently having to wash up in the Victorial ceramic sink in the cellar and have a minimum amount of crockery here as we don't want to have to move boxes of stuff about and currently have nowhere to put it. DH offered to make us poached eggs on the campstove and then realised, as the eggs were done, we had nothing to eat them off. Sounds ridiculous now but it was irritating at the time. As is the tip he makes wherever he has been working, I am the opposite and can't work somehwere that's a tip whereas he seems oblivious.

I have been reading what you are all saying about peanuts / prawns etc with a wry smile. When I was pg I looked into the 'facts' behind the sort cheese etc no go areas and found them largely over the top considering the apparent 'risks.' However, now I have had a mc I think I would be VERY careful about what to eat now regardless! 'Just in case' and all that...

I am looking after my five month old neice tomorrow. Eeek! Sure it'll be fine, and I'm looking forward to it, but I suspect by this time tomorrow I'll be absolutely bloody knackered!! We think we might go off to the coast as it can hopefully wear out both the baby and the dog, but maybe wait and see what the weather is like first.

My cousin's girlfriend is still, as far as I am aware, not in proper labour, but has been havinhg contractions, on and off, since Saturday. They come every 8 mins but then it slows to 12 and then 15 and then tails off, only to start again a few hours later. She is getting really pissed off as she is both exhausted and has barely left the house (when she has the contractions they are really painful so she can't really be out and about.) Poor bugger!

MarathonMama · 02/09/2011 15:00

Awww, thanks MissG, that's good advice. DH is definitely a number 3 on your list. Love him as a do, he just doesn't do emotion, I've only seen him cry twice. I think the whole thing has left us both feeling a bit tender and I'm hoping that time will make it better.

I think my friend is insecure. She's expecting her second child imminently and she thought that I would be having one soon after and we'd be in it together. I know she's worried about coping with two. "Sarah", the other friend, has just had her second and has a DD who is the same age as my friend's and my DDs, so I suspect my friend is trying to establish a friendship with someone who's in the same boat (as it were). I think it's a good idea and I don't begrudge them doing it, I just felt a bit Sad when I read the email and it said "I've got my friend Sarah coming round on Monday if you'd like to join us" without saying I've got OUR friend or just "Sarah" coming round. It's like she's deliberately trying to push me out. I think it is made worse because I'm still feeling low about the argument, I'm sure I'll feel better about it tomorrow.

Anyway, you need to add another one to your list:

  1. Men who can't bloody load the dishwasher and put things in so that when you take them out they've flipped over and are full of dirty water. Are you listening DH??? I hope not

Can you tell I've just unloaded it Hmm

Anyway, I asked my mw about prawns because I love them and she said they were fine in moderation but not to have too many in a week because they're bottom dwellers (no idea what the point is, I suppose it depends on the type of bottom...)

OP posts:
Missgiraffe1 · 02/09/2011 14:37

Marathon I just wrote you a massive post and lost it! Sorry to hear of your argument. My theory is that men fall into 3 categories:

  1. Those who are very sensitive and understand the complicated emotions a MC brings, are attentive, sensitive, can show that side of themselves and can therefore be a great support to wife/partner
  2. Those who know and understand that their wife/partner is going through a range of emotions and a very tough time, but don't know how to show it, or show their own emotions, so don't know how to be supportive etc
  3. Those who just don't understand

It's really tough, and the pain and effects of a MC do not just disappear once you're pg again, or a few months down the line. And it can be even tougher if your DH falls into 2 or 3. Perhaps sitting down and having a talk bout your argument would be the best, telling him that you weren't meaning to be critical of him just for the sake of it, but it is because you are still hurting about the MC, and they way he reacted to it wasn't helpful? Sorry if this is rubbish advice (I'm not actually sure I would take it myself, as I'm not sure talking about these things with my DH helps (not sure if mine is a 2 or 3, probably a 3), as it makes no difference to the way he is/acts!)

Here, you can have my last rolo Biscuit x

And re your friends? I agree, it's a bit odd. Why not e-mail you first, say they had been talking about meeting up, check you were free, then do the group e-mail? Is your friend insecure by any chance, and quite excited about this new friendship? Maybe you wouldn't be so annoyed about it if you weren't upset about your row (but then again maybe your friend is a bit of show off/friend thief and needs a slap????? Grin )

It was the prawns I was worried about. I thought that prawns were ok if they had been frozen before as well as well cooked? As tempted as I am, I'm not sure I could eat them. Knowing my luck, revised guidance would come out the next day saying "Stay away from prawns PG ladies!"

pebspop · 02/09/2011 14:25

giraffe thanks for that, i was 20 weeks when i found out about the mcc so i suppose af might not come for a while yet.

marathon no-one really told me anything about when to expect AF. i was expecting it to be the same as last time when i had mc at 11 weeks. it would annoy me that your friend has stolen your other friend but try not to let it get to you. you could all be friends together and it may be fun!

maybe i should go to the doctors about my missing af. i have never been to the gp for anything pregnancy/mc related - they won't know who i am lol i have only been once since i joined the surgery four years ago!!

i should be getting my consultant appointment towards the end of this month so not sure if i should just wait for that as the doctor might just tell me to wait anyway. does anyone know what the doctor might say/do if i go now?
