Let's make some May babies

The end of July is drawing near; SWI with DP hasn't been as frequent as hoped; and I've decided to err on the side of caution.

So. Here's a thread for anyone else hoping to make a beautiful May 2012 baby.

I am 27 and TTC #1. Been on pill for an age so unsure of cycles. Only been trying for a couple of weeks - the more I type the more I note my wild optimism!!

Anyone else who knows more about this business than I do? Please come and give me some hope that a May baby might be at all possible :)

Sorry to hear that AF got you Badger. I wouldn't wait to be honest, but then I'm 43 and rapidly running out of time (if I actually have any at all...). :)

YeahThatsTheBadger · 24/08/2011 09:21

GTR I had never heard of this cervix positiony stuff. It was mentioned upthread but I had no idea what it was all about! You lot are very aware of, and in tune with your bodies. I don't even really have any idea when I ovulate, if I have any pains when I do... Confused

And so I woke this morning, went for a wee and AF has finally got me. :(
And now I have a dilemma. My brother gets married go August next year. I am one of the bridesmaids. So do I wait for a few months so that I won't have a newborn baby or be heavily pregnant. The wedding is in Ireland so I need to be able to travel. Although I was a bridesmaid when 8.5 months pregnant with DD. In Ireland. That worked out ok though. It was quite a sight though. I'm only 4ft 11in and had such a huge bump. It didn't help that the other bridesmaid was 6.5 months pregnant. Grin

GTR2882 · 24/08/2011 08:55

Thanks musical and desperate - think I will just plod on with the old SWI until I either get royally upduffed or the witch gets me!! I think I am due to ov any time from today until Sunday so there will be a lot of BDing from now until then!!

I don't think I have copious amounts of CM so I am just going to use Pre-Seed to help the little fellas along :)

desperateoldie67 · 24/08/2011 08:15

I've got no answers for you either GTR cos I'm a bit lax at checking to be honest! Hmm

musicalmrs · 24/08/2011 08:04

GTR2882 - I can't answer your question I'm afraid, but I also have an indecisive dancing cervix - wish it (and its CM) could make its mind up so I had a slightly better idea of what's going on!

GTR2882 · 24/08/2011 06:15

Morning ladies! I just have a quick question to all you knowledgeable lovelies out there and an early TMI warning! I am having trouble charting my cervical position! Should I be checking it in the morning or afternoon (I tend to check it first thing after my shower)? Yesterday morning it was medium and kind of softish with what I thought was watery CM. when I got in from work I thought I'd check again to male sure all was ok and it had moved into a low position with a firm feeling bit appeared open!! This morning it is once again high but medium (can't tell if open or closed as too high) but my CM is back to a lotiony/creamy texture! Can anyone shed some light on what might be going on? I am currently CD12 and going insane together with worrying I al not going to ov at all this month!!!

Is it too early for a drink Wink?!?

desperateoldie67 · 23/08/2011 22:53

Hahahaha...AF may have battered me over the head with her cramps and general pain in the arse-ness, but you ladies have made me laugh myself silly today. Thanks for all being amazing.

Some of you are clearly frustrated comedians, and anyone that funny surely deserves to be upduffed just for the extra comedy value for the rest of us struggling souls! :o

The only way to cope with all this insanity is to retain our sense of humour, and I think we do it rather well.

Night all, I'm off to bed - I'll just snaffle some of that choccie off the table on my way out :)

pillowupmyjumper · 23/08/2011 22:33

Arrrrgh! AF has come aknocking ... off to the june yacht i guess

congrats to all the BPFs... chocolate for the BFNs and good luck to all those who don't know what the f is going on

x

GTR2882 · 23/08/2011 22:09

And after reading all your posts and letting DH rest tonight, I am hoping that the little fellas are well rested and ready for action!!!!

GTR2882 · 23/08/2011 22:05

Have pee'd on my OPK stick for the third time as promised and............. I am none the wiser!! Definitely looks more positive than negative so am gonna err on the side of caution and SWI like never before! Poor DH won't know what's hit him, but I am determined Wink

Rusulka · 23/08/2011 21:52

Poor you Heidihole!

He's obviously needing a rest. Don't forget sperm are supposed to be better equipped for action after a couple of days rest, and they can quite happily float around up your hoo-ha for a few days waiting for eggs.

(I'm secretly worried that we didn't manage it last cycle because I bonked him rotten 5 days in a row, and by the time the worn out sperm got to my egg they just fainted)

Massively jealous of your iPad Chin up, all will be ok.

mrsshears · 23/08/2011 21:49

heidi I know how you feel,dh has done this to me a couple of times now.
On a positive note my gp told me that every 2-3 days is best when ttc so going by this you could still have swi tomorrowSmile

Discolite · 23/08/2011 21:47

Mildertduck Risen pizza dough?! That actually did make me laugh out loud! And I do like the sound of sarcastic ovulation Rusalka.

My bbt spiked this morning but it's a bit early...I'll actually be excited to wake up early tomorrow to see if the trend has continued. Luckily DP and I dtd yesterday and two days before that so at least we haven't buggered up the timing like we did the first month we tried.

Festie, I don't know how regular AF is for you, but at 5 days past her expected arrival and no sign, I reckon you are definitely in with a chance! Which would be a very nice wedding present :)

Rusulka · 23/08/2011 21:47

Was reviewing thread and reading funny bits to DH tonight, suspect if we manage to get updiffed he will be conducting much sniffage as he very badly wants to be a wizard too.

Boys...

HeidiHole · 23/08/2011 21:42

Warning - self important pity post

Not sure if I'm in or out... I'm certainly not as confidently on the bus as I'd like to be

SWI cd 7 cd 9 cd 11 cd 13 and then tried last night on cd 14 but DH couldn't keep an erection. Never ever happened before. He mumbled something about the pressure (I suppose I have might have been a bit unromantically demanding in that I obviously set a timetable (verbal) of nights we were trying)

He then said we would try tomorrow (which is now today) and went to sleep

Then tonight he sneaked off at 9pm and I went to look for him and found him fast asleep in bed without saying anything. :( currently lying in bed with iPad a bit pissed off and un fertilised

So no sex after cd 13 which isn't ideal!!

We will see I suppose :( just wanted to feel we had given it best shot. He's the one who is keenest for a bloody baby!

MoominGirl · 23/08/2011 20:05

Rusulka, I know what you mean about the hoo-ha! Have been doing oral temp for the same reason, but my temps have been up and down all over the place and since it's my first month charting I haven't got any basis for comparison.

OPKs are also not shedding much light, but it's only CD11 (am hoping I don't have to do them 3 times a day tho Hmm )

Got my fingers crossed for all of you in the 2ww!

Rusulka · 23/08/2011 19:46

I know what you mean, GTR, I'm seeing pregnant women and babies and delightful small children EVERYWHERE... and none of them are mine, WAH!

Bluewater is especially bad for that kind of thing. Prams and buggies everywhere.

Don't get me wrong, I may only be testing with my ovulation sticks once a day, but I'm prepared- we're having SWI anyway, in case (not wasting the sexy hoo-ha). Last time we were at it CD10-14 and 16, and AF was nearly a week late, so my body must have been at least thinking about implantation... either that or I completely misread the situation. Starting to wonder if what I thought were implantation cramps from CD17-19 were actually me ovulating, although I did the OPK sticks on days 15 and 16, and nothing. Crazy body!

GTR2882 · 23/08/2011 18:33

Lol Grin hoo-ha!! Grin that tickled me up! My OPKs are as pale as pale can be and I actually dont think I'll ov ever again! Slightly melodramatic but that's just how I feel at the moment and I keep seeing either pregnant ladies or babies everywhere I turn! :(

I actually read somewhere that you should try to test with OPKs more than once a day as one woman almost missed her surge that lasted 20.5 hours and if she hadn't checked 3 times she would have missed it! So I'm going to drink until 8 and then check again at 10!!!

Ok I'm done!! :)

festiemum · 23/08/2011 18:21

Hi all, I'm back!

Wow! So much to catch up with; I have tried to be a good girl and read it all. Glad we've had some more BFPs and sorry for those of you got by the witchy bitch.....

I am slightly confused (nothing new there then!) Had a good wedding and festie, but threw up on me wedding night, so did an internet cheapie test the next day - BFN. Then bought some tests from the nearest supermarket (turned out to be Sainsburys, and read ALL SORTS of bad things about their tests since - bah!) Got two very faint positives during the festival, and wanted to sleep A LOT! Also found festival toilets particularly challenging smell-wise. AF hasn't shown (now 3-4 days late), but did another internet cheapie test this morning and got BFN. Think I may have had a dodgy batch of ICs? Always found them to be good in the past.

Anyway, opened a bad banana for DD today, and that sent me runnning to the sink retching...... Spose I will have to go and get some more tests and try again.... Some kind of definitive answer would be good really!

Rusulka - I don't think I ever got a particularly good line when I did OPKs - but I was using ICs.... Think I'm going off the whole IC idea!!!

Rusulka · 23/08/2011 17:16

My bbt is climbing like a wheezy old lady going up the stairs. At CD9 I assume this is just my body thinking about ovulating in a really sarcastic way- either that, or I've been measuring it wrong... have decided to go with sticking it in my mouth this cycle- I know it's more accurate to stick it up my hoo-ha, but I couldn't bring myself to do that days 1-5.

I have terrible mackerel burps after getting in an oily fish frenzy, now I wish I'd just had yoghurt for lunch.
It's freezing in the house and I can't have a cuppa because I'm depriving myself for the OPK. Wah... Oh sod it, I'll do it now.

Nothing doing. Incidentally, is anyone doing that trick of when they think they see a line, looking at the space next to where they think the line is? It's a good way of checking whether you're seeing something or not. (Well, it is for me, anyway).
I see all sorts of things when I look directly at something like faces in the artex on the ceiling which generally aren't there, so if I look at a stick and still see a line with my peripheral vision when I'm looking next to it not at it, then I know I'm not going mad.

Having seen these faint lines on my OPK sticks, I'm now starting to wonder whether I ever actually did see a line last month. I thought I did once, but now I've seen that these lines are actually pinky coloured, I'm just starting to think maybe I made a whole song and dance over nothing. (blush)

Quenelle · 23/08/2011 16:27

Grin mildertduck

desperateoldie67 · 23/08/2011 13:52

LOL!!! milder you have just made me laugh out loud! Thanks for that, because I'm having an utterly crappy day :o

..."what the actual fuck self..." bwahahahaha :o

mildertduck · 23/08/2011 13:30

Agh. I once spent a weekend etc - this was a couple of years ago!

mildertduck · 23/08/2011 13:28

I am ashamed to admit that I have just googled '9dpo knee pain'. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK SELF. YOU ARE NOT PREGNANT IN YOUR KNEES.

(my knees always hurt when I feel or have been sick. I spent a miserable weekend in the throes of norovirus with a pillow wedged between my knees because they were so achy)

musicalmrs · 23/08/2011 13:22

mildertduck - Same boat here - cycle 1, going a bit barmy! I keep having potential symptoms, that could potentially be other things. Bloaty and crampy too, also have undecisive CM, and periodic feeling sick.

Probably overthinking everything - wish there were a way to switching this bit of my brain off so I could concentrate on some other things!
