Let's make some May babies

The end of July is drawing near; SWI with DP hasn't been as frequent as hoped; and I've decided to err on the side of caution.

So. Here's a thread for anyone else hoping to make a beautiful May 2012 baby.

I am 27 and TTC #1. Been on pill for an age so unsure of cycles. Only been trying for a couple of weeks - the more I type the more I note my wild optimism!!

Anyone else who knows more about this business than I do? Please come and give me some hope that a May baby might be at all possible :)

Rusulka, really sorry to hear your news. I'm glad your partner is being supportive.

louloubellamozzarella · 15/08/2011 22:37

I'm really sorry to hear you news Rusulka. Hope the next couple of weeks are kind to you and take it easy. Hope you'll stick with us May peeps :) X

I keep appearing at the top of the list but AF arrived on schedule so I've moved myself down to the next round. Did plenty of SWI on holiday (side issue: has anyone else ever managed to have sex in a swimming pool? We tried man/womanfully but simply couldn't do it and don't know why) but currently on CD12 so should be ovulating in a couple of days, which means that probably the good work put in over the last week will come to nowt and the much-less-romantic surroundings of home complete with visiting parents-in-law will have to do the job instead.

Congratulations MammaInTheMaking - great to see a BFP. Is anyone else up the duff yet? I've been skim reading but there were 11 pages since I last logged on and I don't want to miss anyone out. Congratulations on your talented shagging and excellent parts if you are!

Sorry to hear your news Rusulka. That's rotten for you. I would go to the GP, even though probably all they will say is 'poor you'. It might be possible to have a scan at the early pregnancy unit to see whether it's all gone and clear - I know I would have liked to know that after my mc. People on the mc forums have mentioned an ERPC - I don't know what that stands for but I think it's some kind of clear-round if the miscarriage doesn't complete naturally. On the other hand, your body will most likely take care of itself. It took me 11 days to get a negative test after I stopped bleeding. Once it came it was a big relief to know we could try again. See how you feel in a couple of weeks.

HeidiHole · 15/08/2011 21:54

Rusulka I'm so sorry that is really crap. I'm thinking of you emotions must be all over the place.

I know you will pick yourself up and dust yourself down, maybe get yourself checked at the GP for reassurance before starting trying again

festiemum · 15/08/2011 21:25

Oh Rusulka, so sorry to hear that.

Don't really have anything to add, but wanted you to know you are in my thoughts, and have the support of everyone here. xxx

puzzletree · 15/08/2011 21:08

Rusulka I think once you have stopped bleeding and have a negative test you're ok to start trying again. Negative test should mean that everything is out of your system, mine lasted for a good while after my miscarriage but then that was further on (9 weeks). To put your mind at ease speak to a GP, but I'm pretty sure they'll say it's fine to start trying again straight away, we were told we could start as soon as we felt ready.

Catsycat · 15/08/2011 20:49

Hi Rusulka. I'm so sorry this has happened. It is a very sad and hard thing to go through at any stage, and IMO the baby becomes "real" as soon as you see that + result on the test, with all the hopes and plans that implies. Take care of yourself, and give yourself permission to go to pieces and grieve, however you need to.

In answer to your qustion, hopefully everything will come out fully over a couple of days, but if you continue to bleed for a long time, then go to the GP. If tissue is left behind you can get an infection, so I would go and have it checked out after a week or two (if bleeding is period like). If you bleed very heavily (soaking right through heavy flow pads in less than an hour) then you may need to go to A&E. Hopefully it will be straightforward for you, and not too heavy, because it is early on. You may want to consider going to your GP anyway, so this can go on your medical notes.

You can try again straight away really. Some people are advised to wait for one period before trying again, but that is for dating purposes rather than anything else.

I'm really sorry, and thinking of you.

Tibbycat · 15/08/2011 20:43

Rusulka, thinking of you Sad x

orangehead · 15/08/2011 20:26

Oh sorry Rusulka. I cant really remember, my last mc was 11 years ago and after each of mine I waited at least 6 months just because I didnt feel ready. Think you need to wait till at least negative test. Docotors normally say I think till after your next af but I think that just to make dating easier

Rusulka · 15/08/2011 19:53

Quick check please for those who have had a mc before- do we need to wait a few months to give any left over tissue from this one a chance to come out? Not that it would affect future tests, as I now don't really believe I ever had a positive one, but I don't want to have this go wrong again.

Thanks.

mskatemc · 15/08/2011 19:52

So sorry to hear that Rusulka

notnowImreading · 15/08/2011 19:25

Hi everyone - just back from holiday. Just place marking so I can find you all again.

Rusulka · 15/08/2011 19:03

Evening all.

Sorry to share bad news, but it's what we're all here for, so here goes. I just found out why it wasn't showing up on tests in the worst possible way- straight after an argument, on the toilet.
Feel really gutted.
Would have been 5 weeks on Wednesday. I don't subscribe to the maybe baby on this one, I think, now that it's happened. It was a baby to me. I expect I'll see it at some point and go to complete bits again, but I'm telling myself that it wasn't meant to be, and there was obviously something spectacularly wrong with it, so it's a good thing really.

DH is being very supportive, and is promising that we'll nail it next time.

And so, to the back of the bus (or the crow's nest on the yacht, or basement, or whatever. You know what? f**k it. I'm waterskiing from the back and thinking about how I have at least another 10 days to carry heavy shopping and do DIY without feeling guilty. Go me.

Looks like this puts me in with a chance of a definite May baby now, as opposed to a legs-crossed-for-an-extra-2-weeks May baby.

I'd better get more definite results on pg tests next time or I will go spare.

Congrats to the ladies who managed it this time, and fingers crossed for the rest of us for next time- there's so many of us on this yacht, with such varied due dates, I'm expecting a full-on mexican wave of pg results over the next month. Fingers crossed.

orangehead · 15/08/2011 17:27

Tibby I think the heat is a bad thing if it prior to dtd, so should be ok.

Tibbycat · 15/08/2011 15:41

Just had to share to people that will understand...away with work in London (live in the NewForest) today and tomorrow and driving home tonight as ovulation is tomorrow or Wednesday ready for some bonking! Wink

Anyway, yesterday we went to s spa to try to chill out a bit. Didn't realise until I got home and looked online that DH shouldn't have been lounging in the hot tub for ages.! Really hope it doesn't affect him too much.

Also, ovulation due yet no change in VD! Not like 'egg white' yet. Anyone find theirs changes suddenly? It's one thing I've never tracked before.

X

Catsycat · 15/08/2011 15:35

Hi everyone. BFN again this morning, now on day 25 of my usually regular 23 day cycle. Still feeling bloated/crampy, and weight loss still seems to have frozen (though I got into my size 16 jeans for the first time in months this morning - only with a loose shirt!!!) My boobs are still tender, and if weeing was an Olympic sport, I'd be a favourite for 2012.

Maybe the ERPC has just messed up my regularity? I just want one more baby, then sod it, the menopause can take me.... If I am not pg then I wish AF would come back so I can have the tests and then have another go.

Bloody hell, I just thought the cat was choking - turned out it was Lorna on Tikkabilla pretending to blow up a balloon. Gave me quite a turn that did!!!

Catsycat - how is it going with you?

Kveta · 15/08/2011 13:38

mildertduck - I always used the supermarket own brand ones. I had quite shocking morning sickness with DS and probably did need the vitamins at least for the 1st trimester! but sainsburys do a 'mum and bump' packet which is pretty much the same as the pregnacare formulation, but cheaper - I would not be surprised if Boots, Tesco etc do the same thing. (I used Wal Mart ones to start with, then Sains, and DS is pretty normal, so from my sample size of 1, I'd say they are fine :o)

I also think all the shite about the omega-3 fatty acids has been MASSIVELY oversold to the vulnerable pregnant woman! most statistical surveys, so far as I'm aware, show basically fuck-all difference in intelligence between kids who were exposed to RDA quantities of Omega-3 compared to those who weren't. and it can make the head bigger too*. which is NOT desirable if you plan a vaginal birth :o [wince]

*I think. I may have read this online somewhere that wasn't peer reviewed though :o

mildertduck · 15/08/2011 13:29

Fingers crossed for Rusulka, cosmic and catsycat - here's hoping for good news!

Duly demanded SWI from husband yesterday; fortunately after several years of my not having any libido to speak of he is only too happy to oblige, bless his wee cotton socks. Am in a very jolly mood today. My cheapo 25-pack of tests from Amazon arrived this morning; really want to have 'a go' cos I haven't used this type before but that would be a terrible waste.

Actually, I have a question: vitamins - are the stonkingly expensive Pregnacare ones worth it or should I just stick with folic acid? I eat a pretty good diet - lots of veggies and my idea of a good time is a packet of spinach to myself - so I don't think I'm deficient... anyone got any advice?

Kveta · 15/08/2011 09:36

hi all! congrats to all the BFPs and others who may have BFPs!

nothing new here except DS has had a run of such bad nights there has been no SWI, so think we'll be lucky to get a May baby - will probably end up trying for a June one now! pretty sure I've been ovulating over the weekend too, but who knows. will be testing next week sometime anyway, think I'm technically du next weekend (not this weekend), so prob test from tuesday onwards in anticipation! have 3 cheapo tests and 2 clearblue ones I got last time I had a scare. not sure about peeing on a stick that costs £7 though!

festiemum · 14/08/2011 23:02

Oh and Hi to all! We're quite a merry band now!

Fingers crossed and legs open to everyone! Wink

And so to bed! Night all! :)

festiemum · 14/08/2011 23:00

Hi Heidi. Thanks for the crossed fingers!

The crampy bloaty, weeing a plenty continues! I have been testing. All BFN so far, but only 10 DPO, so still in the running. Will TRY to give it a couple of days till I try again, but I have NO self restraint!

Getting married on Weds; would be cool to get a good result before then!!

HeidiHole · 14/08/2011 22:51

festiemum you're next on the list.. AF due in a few days according to the info... are you still having the symptoms you were earlier? Have you tested again... any sign?

Fingers crossed for you!

MoominGirl · 14/08/2011 22:28

Thanks for the welcome and fingers crossed for everyone waiting on inconclusive results
