Freak Out Room For Those Newly Updiffed After M/C Part VIII

dooscooby · 20/07/2011 12:53

Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

Excellent news Angela Smile

angela85 · 17/08/2011 07:55

Hi guys. Sorry i didn't post sooner. I came on after my scan on Monday, and there was so much bad news about that I didn't feel right saying anything, I felt you guys needed support.
I'm really sorry for the bad outcome freelance, and hope next time comes quickly and sticks. Xx
Hope all goes well for you today Laf. I had some light bleeding 2 weeks ago. was terrified, and feared the worst, but all is going great now.
I'm actually 14 + 2 now, feels so great to be out of the 12 week stage, but it won't stop me worrying!
hope everyone else is doing well. Xxx

stitchinline · 17/08/2011 07:05

Fx for LAF and biscuits for today.

LAF77 · 17/08/2011 06:52

Yes, I was tossing and turning a lot last night too biscuits I'm squeezing your hand. We will get through this together.

Biscuitsandtea · 17/08/2011 06:47

Up early, can't sleep, freaking out about this afternoon Sad.

Good luck this morning LAF x

LAF77 · 16/08/2011 20:43

freelance/celery thinking of you. It is so hard, but I understand your feelings of just wanting to move on now. Nothing can bring our lost pregnancies back. I know that I wallowed around in grief for several months at the beginning of the year, so for you to have the fortitude to be positive is a testament to your character. I hear you about the pg/mc weight. I have put on a stone in the last year because of too much eating, drinking, and too little exercise.

I'm OK at present, biscuits and shell I've had a really busy day at work thankfully, so I haven't been able to obsess. No bleeding today either. So in about 12 hours or so, I'll know how things are going. I'll probably have an early night tonight as I've drained all of my energy worrying over the last couple of days.

milky perhaps after all of this is through, we can go into partnership and go onto dragons dens with our home HCG test. It does seem quite barbaric that the standard treatment on the NHS is no scans until the 12th week. Waiting 2 months to know what is going on is crazy. It would be nice to have answers. CBD leaves you guessing after the 3+ reading, so it is a long 9 weeks!

Thanks for all your comfort and support everyone. It means a lot.

bigmacandhappymeal · 16/08/2011 19:59

FX for the scan moomin - sometimes it would be nice just to be able to fall asleep and wake up on the day of the scans wouldn't it. Will be thinking of you.

I was knackered at the end of my booking in - it felt really other-worldly to me, like I was there by mistake and that someone would hoik me out of the room any minute and tell me i'd got it all wrong.

Take care - like you say, one day at a time.

Moominsummermadness · 16/08/2011 19:55

Ah Freelance, so sorry to hear your news. Big virtual hugs. Keeping everything crossed for you that your next time will come around quickly, and it will be a happy and healthy pregnancy.

Thanks for the reassurance, Bigmac, it does help to hear that people can have some blood loss and a healthy pregnancy. I'm just taking things one day at a time at the moment, got a scan at EPAU on 25th.

Had my antenatal booking appointment today, saw Dr and midwife who were both lovely. I'm still worried, but feel calmer about it all than I did now. Think I'm too tired to feel too stressed!

Biscuitsandtea · 16/08/2011 19:51

Just nipping in to say good luck to LAF for tomorrow morning - hand holding available if required xx

bigmacandhappymeal · 16/08/2011 19:31

Just popping by and so sorry to read the sad news doitnicely and freelance I hope we see you back here soon with some good news. Take care of yourselves.

Also hello to every newly up the duff. This place is great and hope to see you on the grads thread in no time...

moomin just wanted to say that I had brown discharge from 6+3 with this PG until 16 weeks, pretty much non-stop with a few stonker bleeds and a clot (turns out my placenta was low for a while but has shifted itself up now). I also had periody cramping from 6+3 - 9 weeks and that low heavy feeling of being about to come on. My EPAC nurse told me that this can be really common. Doesn't stop you driving yourself mad with worry though. Completely understand why you are feeling anxious about this but thought it would be helpful to hear some news where (touch wood) all is going well now - I'm 25 weeks today.

Big hugs to you all and most importantly mint magnums and mini pork pies
xx

Doitnicelyplease · 16/08/2011 18:18

Thanks for the well wishes lovely ladies xxx

Freelance so sorry to hear your news, hope everything goes aswell as it can for you whether it is an ERPC or natural :(

Good luck to everyone else

LAF hope you are having a better day today, is it your scan tomorrow?

moomin sorry to hear you are fearing the worst

Stitch glad you had a good appointment at last, even if it did take forever! Sorry if you have already mentioned, but where is back home?

So sorry freelance and doitnicely that you have had the worst confirmed, look after yourselves and best wishes for you and your partners x

Velvet is right about how sad things are at the moment, hopefully the upcoming scans will bring positive news for some.

stitchinline · 16/08/2011 14:35

freelance am so sorry - sending you lots of hugs and my very best wishes.

freelancegirl · 16/08/2011 14:34

Thanks Biscuits! I am also off to try lose some of this baby/miscarriage/steroid/eating myself silly weight. If I find myself back here after my next bout of SWI (whenever that is) I will be employing my pet name of Celery for you to help me in my quest :)

Biscuitsandtea · 16/08/2011 14:23

Freelance Sorry to hear your news. I know though that in a way you had been waiting for confirmation so I am glad that you know the answer, but sorry it was the wrong answer (if that makes sense). I hope they can get you in for an ERPC quickly - I think you said you would like so that they could run tests? I hope that this can at least provide some answers for you so that the next time you get all the support and care you possibly can, and the very best and most appropriate medical assistance.

Your positive outlook has really taught me a thing or two and I should thank you for that (although of course I wish you weren't having to beat the odds with positivity).

Velvet and Collie are right - we have had some really bad luck on this thread just recently and I'm really sorry that so many people are going through such rubbishness.

I also hope that those that have had cause to leave us recently are back soon with super sticky beans. You're all still in our thoughts. Do take care xx

freelancegirl · 16/08/2011 14:12

Hi Doitnicely sorry to hear you are going through this again but good to see it is going quickly and that you are feeling positive about the next step.

I had the miscarriage confirmed this morning and I feel the same. A little more detached this time, rather than the shock, horror and grief of the last one. The only thing I do find frustrating is that I feel that I have lost a few months again. I don't have children and have just turned 37 and I am aware that time is moving on. I feel you have the right attitude though, it is lovely to have one child already and hopefully you will soon have another successful pregnancy. Sod the age difference.

Thanks all of you, for being so supportive biscuits, LAF, moomin, stitch, LAF, velvet, scooby, milky, Collie, Shell and anyone else I have missed. It really has been great to have people to talk to who can relate to what we are going through. Great to be sitting in EPU and reading that people are sending me virtual hugs (thanks Scooby!).

I am waiting until the hospital get back to me re a day for the ERPC. I am bleeding so there is a possibility it might happen before I get to that stage but I am hoping it won't be too hideous. My next date with the NK cells specialist is on the 9th Sept so I guess I will find out then what if anything I can do differently next time and also when I can try again. Under treatment apparently there is an 85% success rate for women with high nk cells so I just guess I have to keep on going.

In the meantime I will be lurking and hoping everything goes ok with everyone else. Thanks again for all the support and good luck everyone. Remember that you are very very likely to go on and have successful pregnancies xxx

stitchinline · 16/08/2011 13:54

I've updated the stats but not sure if they are right or not - I seemed to have gained a few days so not sure if it's the case for everyone or just me?

I also created a MIA for those that haven't posted for a while (and are over 20 weeks) as I think the big list can be a bit intimidating if you're just starting out. If anyone objects happy to go back.
