Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

One healthy heartbeat. One potential ectopic twin. Having scan from specialist on Thursday before I see my obstetrician. Am completely mentalling and madly worried.

dachs I have everything possible crossed for you! Hope your scan goes well today.

DiffedAgainDachs · 05/09/2011 08:56

Thanks guys - the scan is at 12 so will check in afterwards to let you know how it went. I hope there is something there as I'm not quite sure how I'll cope if this pg goes wrong.

Biscuitsandtea · 05/09/2011 06:39

Good luck Dachs - thinking of you today xx

Purpletoes · 05/09/2011 06:11

Dachs good luck today. I have everything crossed for you.

Blackkat · 04/09/2011 19:10

digi so great to see you here Grin hope the wedding went ok yesterday. Everything crossed for you on Weds.

Posted to Dachs elsewhere, but wanted to make sure you know will be thinking of you tomorrow

And Kat counting down the days for you to be at 12....crying is definitely a pg symptom, I cried at the advert where the dog had made his own promo video to get out of the dog home, in fact thinking about it now is making me feel a bit upset. Dr Quinn is clearly better material to shed a tear over! Smile

to everyone else,

pigletmania · 04/09/2011 15:17

God I can't wait until dd goes to school this week so I can get some rest, I am exhausted (she has SN) so its really hard to keep her occupied, she is so bored. All i want to do is lie down as I feel so heavy and I am only 5 months. Heavier than dd, comparing the scan pictures she was a wee little thing (weighed 8.4 at birth), this one looks like a whopper, and the sonographer said he was a good size.

digitalgirl · 04/09/2011 10:25

Kat I'm on treatment for high nk cells and pcos - so I'm on steroids, progesterone, aspirin and metformin. I have one ds (3yo) and I've had 4 mc's in the last two years, so I feel far more experienced in miscarrying than I do in having a successful pregnancy

I joined the due in April thread in a bid to feel positive about this pg, but I'm finding it easier to relate to the women miscarrying than the ones with ms. I never really get ms in pregnancy. I had a little with ds, but apparently the steroids are supposed to mask any symptoms of nausea. I'm not even tired. So apart from the occasional back ache, heavy boobs and huge appetite I don't feel pg at all. I even had a bit of a dance at the wedding yesterday to no ill effect. Still, if it's bad news on Wednesday, at least I will have had a good time this weekend.

DiffedAgainDachs · 04/09/2011 09:33

piglet thanks! :) I just hope nothing goes wrong this time.

kat Not really too keen on Sully's hair - he doesn't really do it for me. But if he has a really good body I'll keep an eye out for top removal next time I'm at home and it's on! :) Hope you manage to stop freaking out soon. There's no reason to worry if there is no bleeding or anything. (Which I know is true but it's kind of hypocritical for me to say that 'cos I'm freaking out 24/7 about everything)

kat2504 · 04/09/2011 09:25

dachs I like watching Dr Quinn in case Sully comes along to take off his top Blush Good luck tomorrow will be thinking of you.

Not much news here. Was having a major freak out last night for no apparent reason. Four weeks until I get to the magic 12 week marker. I keep just trying to tell myself that as long as there is no bleeding there is no immediate need to worry and I should be happy I am not puking my guts up five times a day!

pigletmania · 03/09/2011 16:58

Thanks everyone Smile

dachs I am so pleased for you after the heartache you have been through, was following you a couple of months ago. Wishing you a boring and uneventful pregnancy Smile

Congratualtions too milky will be lovely having a brother for dd to play with.

DiffedAgainDachs · 03/09/2011 12:15

piglet Yay for good scan and being team blue! :)

kat crying is def a pg symptom. I keep crying! ALthough watching re-runs of Dr Quinn is a debatable pastime...I only ever catch the end of it when I'm waiting for Daily Cooks Challenge to start :)

digi Brave of you to become official! I'm still just lurky lurking. Enjoy the wedding and hope it takes your mind off things.

LAF PROM is premature rupture of membranes.

milkyways · 03/09/2011 11:59

Congratulations piglet!! Team blue here aswell!

kat Haha, Dr Quinn can get quite dramatic in the most cliched of ways! I'd class your crying as a pregnancy symptom!

A big welcome digital! Congratulations on your BFP :) I know, it's so hard getting past those milestones. With me, even when I have got past the "risky" part of pregnancy, I am still having major freak out sessions at least once every 2 days! It's crap, but that's what recurrent mc's do to you :(. Just remember that there is no reason why this pregnancy won't work out for you this time. I completely ignored this baby for the first 12 weeks. I wouldn't look at the scan pictures incase I got too attached.
I echo exactly what you say kat about not allowing yourself to get happy. The first 12 weeks are really really hard emotionally, mentally and physically.

I got a letter from my consultant today, saying that I am free to carry on the aspirin until week 36 which is a bit reassuring. Really didn't want to stop it incase it is helping in some way.

Hope you're all well and enjoying your weekend!

LAF77 · 03/09/2011 11:41

Welcome digi so happy you are here. Feel free to obsess away. We all need to, and when you have had RMC, it makes it even harder to be calm. I think 8 weeks is an awkward time for your body because you should be at your next cycle and I think different strange symptoms appear.

The first 3 months are torture. There are many times when I've thought this pg was over for lack of symptoms or bad signs, but the bean is still here, or at least I think he is. I was naughty and went into a jacuzzi for 5 mins yesterday. The water wasn't that hot, but I'm beating myself up for doing it.

dachs what does PROM mean? Good luck for Monday.

Waves to everyone else!

kat2504 · 03/09/2011 10:02

hello digi Hope you have a lovely time at the wedding today. I'm in a similar point with regard to mc milestones and admit doing the same with regards to cm checking! I don't feel really pregnant either and my boobs aren't really hurting. I wish I could fast-forward the next month, then I would be 12 weeks and happy. I really am pleased to have got diffed again so soon after last time, but I can't allow myself to be "happy" about it yet as right now it often seems like a ticking timebomb waiting to plunge me back into the horrors of miscarriage. I guess it's self defense in a way. Although having seen this little bean alive on a scan, I am already more attached than I was the last 2 times in a way.

digi are you on any treatment of any sort? I'm on the aspirin and the clexane. I didn't get given the clexane till 6+4 though so I hope that is not too late.

digitalgirl · 03/09/2011 09:54

Right, I'm officially joining this thread after lurking (in denial) for the past month. The freaking out has finally started in earnest. I'm 7+5 today - so smack bang in the middle of mc#3 and mc#4 milestones. I've only had one day of nausea last Tuesday but have been fine since. Very paranoid about every twinge of back ache, cramping. Every trickle of cm has me dashing to the loo to check for blood. Boobs don't feel as heavy but maybe that's my imagination. I'm at a wedding today so I'm desperately hoping I'll be distracted for most of the day but I was at one yesterday and every minute I had to myself my brain was working overtime figuring out what to do if I started miscarrying. Sad
And today I have a headache. Which I what I had the day I started mc-ing in the last pregnancy. Hoping it's just because I had a late night last night. Still don't feel particularly pg so I'm not looking forward to the first scan on weds (will hopefully be 8+2). Have to get it over with I suppose.
Wish I could just sleep through this bit.

kat2504 · 03/09/2011 08:37

That's lovely news piglet :)

Does crying when watching re-runs of Dr Quinn Medicine Woman count as a pregnancy symptom? Or maybe I am just a bit wet anyway.

pigletmania · 02/09/2011 21:28

Wow just come on here after being off for a while, congratulations diffedagaindachs thats fantastic Smile

Just had my 20 week scan, we are batting for the blue side, and baby looks healthy so thats good. The placenta is a bit low so will have to go for another scan when I am 36 weeks.

By the way my EDD is 14th January 2012

bigmacandhappymeal · 02/09/2011 16:51

dachs big (((hug))) for Monday and the days inbetween

Peaceful, uneventful and swift weekends for all
xxx

DiffedAgainDachs · 01/09/2011 15:42

I have the first scan on Monday, then another one the following week. We were only going to have one put back but there were only 3 fertilised and only two of them were still alive on transfer day, and the second one wasn't good enough to freeze so they strongly encouraged us to have both put back, which we did. So I guess I find out on Monday how many there are! Am terrified...

kat2504 · 01/09/2011 13:06

Thanks dachs come to think of it I remember you not having any symptoms last time around. My trouble is that the last two times, i have had symptoms at first which have gone away between 6 and 8 weeks (probably the same time that the pregnancies failed) and gone on to mmc. So now what I would really really love is some convincing symptoms. Where are you up to at the moment and when will you get an early scan? Have you had two put back in this time or just the one?

milkyways · 01/09/2011 12:58

Hi all :) Thanks for all the replies last Saturday - didn't really think it would upset me, I feel a bit embarrassed posting now - I think it's a bunch of hormones making me all teary...I cried at the end of Tangled yesterday, and I am forced to watch it everyday, so should be used to it by now!

LAF Lovely news on your scan - it's amazing how they grow from blob stage to human baby isn't it? Also, how frightening with the blood. Even when you know where it is coming from, and you know it's not serious it can still be very worrying and frightening. Hope you are still calm about it - still mention it to the mw on your next visit. Congrats to moomin and hairy too on happy scans! Getting to 20 weeks is wonderful!

Congratualtions dachs. Hope everything goes smoothly for you this time. x

I don't really have anything to say about myself. Two nights ago I had a panic attack at 4am as I couldn't feel baby move when I prodded my belly, so ran downstairs with my doppler and listened. He was happily moving about - I just couldn't feel it. I just want my baby in my arms!

to everyone, hope you're all well x
