Aaaaggh. Why do I feel pg?

Why am I gagging over the toilet in the mornings, have sore, tinging boobs, am going to bed at 9.30 exhausted and yet have taken 2 pg tests, both BFN????

We aren't TTC, I'm not desperate to be pg (in that I'm not anxiously watching every sign, although I would be happy to have another).

We did BD without protection 4 weeks ago (mid-cycle), but 2 weeks later AF came, although different to usual. I did a pg test after that as I was feeling pg, it came up negative. I put it out of my mind but with tingling, sore boobs, lots of motion sickness like last time I was pg and feeling sick in general so I did another test today but still a BFN.

What's going on? Any ideas anyone? I never have any PMT so this is all a bit peculiar. Logically I'm sure I'm not pg, but I don't feel comfortable drinking & eating normally just because I have all the symptoms. We're in Australia for work, but treating it as a bit of a holiday so indulging a bit more than usual. I've been here for 5 months, so I'm sure it's not jet-lag related.

Good luck with the scan btw, hope all is well :-)

EmilyD · 23/12/2005 12:04

ho hum, have come on this morning so was having false symptoms or perhaps my hormones are on the change - I am 32 now and have been trying since may to conceive again with one mc earlier this year. I think i just need to chill out a bit now and forget about getting pregnant all the time and hopefully being more relaxed it might happen? Had a horrid year this year, lost my best friend to breast cancer amongst other things and just hoping for a better 2006. :-)

cupcakesbakingonanopenfire · 23/12/2005 08:58

Emily, my big symptoms (when I think I miscarried) were constantly needing to pee and incredibly tingly boobs. here is a list of early symptoms which might help.

veuve - good luck for tomorrow.

veuveclicquot · 23/12/2005 08:33

Hi Emily. Yes, I think there is. Men can get them too apparently (!). If, as I expect, my scan comes back showing no pg, then mine is a classic one. I'm even finding smells offensive and too strong fgs.

I'm wondering if it's just my hormones going haywire. I AM 35 you know!! Prob pre-menopause or something.

I hope you get some answers too.

EmilyD · 21/12/2005 13:39

Is there such a thing as a false pregnancy as last month i was convinced i was pregnant with nausea, swollen boobs etc but then was not, this month again i have the same symptoms!!! It's doing my head in!

My last pregnancy i had a feeling of a washing machine/knitting feeling in my stomach which i haven't had this time (although i keep having like a jumping feeling in my tummy this month)

What are others symptoms of early pregnancy????

veuveclicquot · 21/12/2005 12:59

1st Jan, so ages before the scan.

cupcakesbakingonanopenfire · 21/12/2005 12:25

That's a pain. Good luck for the 24th - just want you want to be doing, I'm sure!
When is your next period due?

veuveclicquot · 21/12/2005 12:14

DP definitely doesn't want another. It would be his 4th and he's 48 now. We've nearly split up over the issue before.

Oh cupcakes, it does sound like an early miscarriage. I'm sorry .

I saw the doctor today (feeling like a complete fool) and she immediately wondered if it was a UTI. Apparently this can cause frequent urination and nausea. She also wondered if it might be an ovarian cyst, causing the stretching feeling.

So, I had an internal (nice!) and she announced she couldn't feel anything. OK, no pg I thought and was sent off to do a urine sample.

When I came back she took one look, said it looked highly unlikely that it was a UTI and said I should go for a scan. I finally clicked that when she said she couldn't feel anything in the internal it meant she couldn't find a cyst. She said it was too early to detect if I was 8 or so weeks pg by doing an internal that way.

She's sending off the sample anyway and I've got to go back in on Chrismtas Eve (!) for the results.

I toddled off to the scan place to book the scan (with probe, double nice!), but they can't do it for another 2.5 weeks because of Christmas.

Oh well. No veuve or pinot for me over christmas by the sounds of it, just in case. Unless of course the sample results come back with a UTI of course.

I had a whole load of pregnancy symptons in the summer. Firstly I was going to the loo about 3 times a night then I was exhausted and falling asleep in the afternoon. Then I got tingly boobs - they felt as if they were about to start leaking milk (!)
I was convinced I was pg and took 3 tests but all were negative. Then I got my period amd all the symptoms stopped. I now wonder if I had a miscarriage and that was why I kept getting negative tests. Because I was sure I was pg - I have been twice and I know what it feels like!
Hope you get a better resolution. Good luck at dr's.

mumsXMASwish · 21/12/2005 08:08

why would DH be upset? Does he not want another child or is it because your abroad?

veuveclicquot · 20/12/2005 23:29

I'm a bit scared now. If I'm pg DP will be rather upset.

I'm wondering if its PCOS (does that make you feel sick?)or a tumour?, or early menopause?

If I am though, I would be really pleased. Even if all my baby stuff is in the UK.

motherinfurriercoatnoknickers · 20/12/2005 15:02

Scan!Scan! Scan!

mumsXMASwish · 20/12/2005 14:48

Well I for one am keeping my fingers crossed for you. That to me sounds like a pg so I dont think i'll have to cross them too hard!

veuveclicquot · 20/12/2005 11:56

About 16 days ago I think, but AF came a couple of days afterwards. During AF my symptoms went away and then came back again a few days afterwards.

Totally bizarre. I'm hoping its nothing sinister. I just can't work out what else would make you feel sick for 2 months.

I just nipped in for another update (this is my christmas name - we upgrade from pinot to veuve for the day . Bit oblique I know) - thanks for asking after me Lilac, just saw your post!

Well laydeez, the symptoms haven't gone away. I still feel sick every day and have the 'stretching uterus' feeling.

I went to the loo 11 times today but am not entirely sure if this isn't normal. I don't think my bladder ever got over the shock of having DD.

I have a sticky out tummy now and bigger boobs, but this could easily be put down to the sheer amount of food and wine dp and I were eating for the 6 weeks he was out here.

So, I'm off to the docs tomorrow to see if I can get to the bottom of it.

In total, 2AFs and 3BFNs, but lots of nausea, loo trips and fatness.

Whaddaya reckon she'll say?

LilacBump · 06/12/2005 20:59

how are you getting on, pinotgrigio?

HumphreysCorner · 29/11/2005 18:16

You do make me laugh I can just picture you. I do hope you get some kind of result soon.

Good Luck hun!

pinotgrigio · 29/11/2005 09:52

Just reporting back.

Still feel pg, have gone up a dress size and have strange 'growing uterus' sensation.

Had a good retch at lunchtime and am still feeling sick most of the day.

If I'm not pg, then I want to reserve myself a place in the guinness book of records for best phantom pg ever.

Boobs aren't particularly sore any more though. Just hurt if viciously prodded to test their soreness. When I was pg before they needed a 2m exclusion zone.

pinotgrigio · 24/11/2005 23:02

OK. Managed to get into the loo without DD this morning. It was all very off putting trying to read the instructions and not be too obvious(haven't told DP yet, don't want to scare him for no reason) with DD hammering on the door.

Well, of course it was a BFN. I feel like a raging hypochondriac. The digital tests are a bit funky though.

Am now in a dilemma about whether to allow myself wine over the weekend. I think this must all be down to some wierd hormone surge.

I'm a bit crampy and sore boobed still. Felt sick this morning but it's gone now I've stuffed my face with a huge slab of banana bread. Yum.

I'll go to the doctors next week if it doesn't go away. Do you think this is what menopause is like?!?

lol sackache.

PG please do another test to satisfy SA

SackAche · 24/11/2005 10:55

pg - You'll have to go for a pee before you go to bed...right????

pinotgrigio · 24/11/2005 10:54

I'm in Sydney. Left London last July & due back in Feb. This timezone difference is ruining my mumsnetting and I can't come to the meetup. Sulk.

Sorry toothy! Nonetheless I feel REALLY sick and am going to bed. Bleaurgh.
