TTC 6+ months plus, part 2

Afternoon ladies,

I have never heard of this position thing but I have to be honest - that does not sound like something I'll be doing any day soon.... .

This just seems like the looooooongest 2ww ever. Ov'd about 6 days later than I originally thought so whereas I did think AF was due middle of this week (based on cycle length) she probably won't turn up until the start of next week (based on normal LP). Yawn yawn.

Need some excitement to make the time pass...

No Pout, usually a day, maybe two. Sometimes it comes straight away but that's less common. But this did happen about 6 months ago ( can you tell I've been chart scouring!?) Current theory is a lame egg so not enough progesterone pumped out by corpus luteum. I should be banned from google! I'm sure it can't be right though. And it doesn't half drag things out. I did manage to go cold turkey on fertility friend for two whole months, but I'm all sucked in again now. Is everyone else hooked on it?

Purple I know about the inappropriate mojo times thing - the only time I am remotely interested in SWI is a week before I ovulate. By the time I'm ripe and ready to go I have more interest in learning to knit and taking up bridge than in DP
I do mean Roux junior BTW! Though Roux Senior does have a twinkle in his eye. I usually have a thing for much older men (not a Freudian, looking for a father figure thing much!) so it's surprising that I do prefer the younger Roux!

Euro & Peace The cervical position thing actually makes me retch when I have tried. Like you Peace it seems to bear no relation to my cycle and goes up and down throughout the day like a brides nightie on her wedding night. It always feel open too which is weird.

I'm sorry that your AF hasn't had the decency to show up properly yet. Do you usually spot for this long?

AF is crawling in for me this time, now on fourth day of barely there spotting. Bad headache and feel crap today, just want my period to come now. Had full on huge cry yesterday on dh, so much for taking things in my stride more these days. My mum knows I'm trying and I do talk to her sometimes but I feel like she is on constant period/no alcohol alert with me. How, if I ever get a bun in the oven, I'll hide it til I'm ready to tell, is a mystery.

On the topic of cervical touching - I quit this a while back. It makes me feel bleugh and how it feels bears no relation to where I am in my cycle.

Biscuits, really hope the clomid works for you. Let us know how you get on taking it.

Euro that is what slightly worries me that there is no follow up whatsoever while I'm on it - it is just see how it goes and if nothing after 3 mths then pay for IUI or IVF...

pout I couldn't get on with the cervical position and texture thing either (and was not a fan of the rooting around, frankly) but for me the CM is a pretty reliable indicator. Despite the PCOS I only get the EWCM once a month (although I sometimes don't get it all - I guess if I am dehydrated or something).

Biscuits I suspect I will end up on clomid. It's a fairly cheap and easy thing for them to try (although it should be made more expensive by the accompanying tracking to make sure your ovaries are not overstimulated but a lot of drs don't seem to bother with this).

pout lol at losing your mojo even for Michel Roux. I still have some mojo, it just seems to arrive at random and inappropriate times... What I would prefer is mojo for SWI with DH in the 5 days pre-OV. Nope - instead it arrives on work nights out.

Hello Gaga, I'm so sorry to hear about your MC. I know what you mean about pregnancy announcements. I actually think that I find it more difficult to deal with the announcements of pregnancies that were planned where it only took a couple of cycles than the totally accidental ones.

Biscuit I'm glad that your appointment went okay. Did the lone man's partner show up in the end? There seems to be loads of conflicting information about Clomid and when to prescribe it. I hope that it does the trick for you!

Welcome Miggly I'm sorry that you too had to go through the awfulness of an MC. I have unexplained infertility too and the fact that you did conceive and have your DD is lovely to hear. Would it be rude of me to ask how old you are. I worry that I don't have 3 years worth of eggs waiting!

Purple I have totally lost my mojo and am jealous that you have a little crush! Even Michel Roux on the TV in his chefs whites cooking some sexily pronounced French dish doesn't do it for me any more!! I knew I was in trouble when there wasn't a flicker of lust

pout my periods are also just like that - I always have pain and (sorry TMI) clots but every few months I have a real agoniser. Like I can't do anything pain.

popcorn OMG believe me - there is noone fit at my work either, this is just the best of a bad bunch. The worst thing is that today I bumped into him whilst out shopping with my mother... Hi all, I'm new to the thread. We're currently hoping for number 2, but nothing's happened yet - but just wanted to share as hopefully it might encourage some of you not to give up hope!

We started trying for the first time back in 2006, and after a year and a half started down the route of testing etc - nothing came back except a diagnosis of unexplained fertility. Got referred for IVF but after meetings with our consultant we decided it wasn't for us. Which felt very sad, but also, in a weird kind of way, a relief to know that the testing and the scans and the waiting around for appointments and long trecks to the hospital were all over, and we could go back to living properly again. Does that make sense?

Anyway, that was Jan 2009, by which time we'd been trying for almost 2.5 years. At the end of February, to our complete astonishment, we had our first ever BFP. Guttingly, that ended in miscarriage but I found out that I was pregnant again in July 09 (around 3 years after starting TTC), and gave birth to a healthy baby girl in March last year. Occasionally I feel like I still can't quite believe it.

Sometimes it just doesn't happen straight away. That doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong, or that it won't happen.

Oh and another thing that happened at the clinic when we went to get the Clomid prescription the bloke asked if I had my maternity exemption with me for the prescription, I was like 'er no, it's a prescription for infertility - see? (pointing to where it clearly said so on the prescription).

Poor chap looked a bit and was desperately back peddling (don't know if he was worried I might just burst into tears there and then....)

I think I might have meant clomid, not chlomid - I'm such a beginner.....

Evening Ladies.

Back from our appointment. Good news was that the 2nd SA came back pretty good. Or at least normal. First SA showed reduced motility (2.5) with min required to pg apparently 5, but second SA showed 35 or something so loads better.

Sooooo, Consultant has given me 3 mths of Chlomid to try to see if that works then we would be looking at IUI then IVF. I'm surprised about the Chlomid as I thought it was for people with irregular cycles and mine are pretty regular, but he says it can still improve chances apparently and that they have had a few pgs from it in cases like ours. So we'll see. It's another 3 months to potentially waste wait but at £7.40 it is definitely cheaper than IUI / IVF / ICSI!

Hope everyone else is good. Any Chlomid tales to tell? Good or bad.....

Hi everyone sorry to gatecrash but I've been reading this thread for a while and totally empathise with all of you. DH and I have been trying for a year now and I had an mc at the beginning of the year. My two best friends are both pregnant and due when I would have been and one was an accident. I feel like I'm going mad and my stomach does somersaults every time I hear someone is pregnant!

I have been seeing a gynae privately and am on my third month of clomid. The first month I took 50mg and didn't ovulate and last month I took 100mg and ovulated with a pregnol injection but still didn't get pregnant. I'm taking it for another two months then will have the HSG thing to look at my tubes (doc doesn't think they will be blocked as I have got pregnant before and I've never had a STD)

I also have a luteal phase defect, I spot 8 or 9 days after ov and get my period about 10 days after. I said to my doc that people on here had been give progesterone to help this but he said it's not proven to get you pregnant or recommended by the royal college of blah blah to which I said I know it doesn't get you pregnant but how can you possibly get pregnant if you're shedding your lining before an egg can implant! So now he had prescribed me tabs to take twice a day from day 21 to 26. Is that what you had Joycep? He said if taken too soon it can act as a contraceptive but is day 21 quite soon too?

Anyway just wanted to say I have learnt so much from this thread and thanks for sharing your stories it's nice to know there are other people out there going through the same thing!

Euro I abandoned the temping because it was turning me into more of a basket case which I didn't think was possible! As for the cervix thing I can't get on with that, I'd have better luck reading tea leaves. I think I just have it in my head that PCOS can cause EWCM at several times throughout the month and then I read about ladies on here who have the EWCM then their fertility monitor thingy says they ovulated much later. I'm just getting myself worked up over nothing I'm sure. I will chill and be thankful that I have movement on the egg front

Biscuit I agree with Euro, you have to milk the comedy value of this. People will appreciate the entertainment, it's better than reading copies of Homes and Garden magazine from 2003.

Izzy That's crappy. I don't have anything to say that will make you feel better except that we have all been there and can relate to the awfulness & know how you are feeling. It's such a bugger though when your AF is messing you around by doing a no show and you are half expecting and hoping to see a positive stick.

I don't know how your surgery works. Trying to get an appointment with ours on the day is a bit like trying to get an audience with the Pope.

pout if you are a fertility friend user, CM and temps are your primary signs. Secondary is cervical position and texture. So I guess it must be pretty important.

It's a pretty reliable sign for me as I only get it once a month and usually just a day or two before ov.

Biscuit roll your eyes in his direction occasionally and sigh for the benefit of the other patients. Waiting rooms are v dull. You can get them wondering what is going on.

Never mind other people being confused when DH turns up - I think HE might be confused

Yep still negative tests, just did a clearblue digital and was really hopeful of a nice pregnant result but nope got a horrible not pregnant instead :(

Think i'll phone and make an appointment then, not sure whether to call this pm and get one for next week or whether to do the phone in and get one that day...

Biscuit I hope you are throwing this man the odd withering look just to add to the confusion. People will be really confused when your DH shows up - they might think that that you are some kind of surrogate or something

Joycep I forgot to say in my last post that it looks like ovulation is starting up afterall. Though I'm never convinced that EWCM is enough of a sign to be sure. I irrationally worry that I'm one of those people who ovulate on day 26 or something stupid & that's why we aren't getting upduffed because I've given up on SWI by that point!! What about you?

The West Sussex IVF thing is good but DP is hell bent on moving to Surrey I'm not sure what happens if you go on the waiting list and then move. I like living in West Sussex but he is fed up of the train costs into London & getting home so late. I was okay about moving but now I'm really worried that it would take away the safety net of IVF. Yet another example of TTC ruling our lives!!

Weirdly, I am waiting at the clinic now but am here before DH as he is coming from work. Everyone else is in couples and this man arrived on his own and is now sat next to me so we look like a couple too. Bit odd It must look like we've had a row though as not speaking to each other

Mrsd I am also a bit confused as to why we were told to bog off & pay. I can only think that it is because the hospital we went to was in Surrey and the PCT guidelines are different there . My DP said that we were probably too calm & together about it all and if we had either been crying or shouting we wouldn't have been fobbed off! I have made an appointment with my GP, though it's not until the first week in August, to discuss what the heck I do now and how to get on the waiting list & when the clock starts RE the 3 years waiting time IFYSWIM. I will also mention the endo to her because she seems quite knowledgeable about all things TTC.

I think that your DP is right about tackling things in bite sized pieces. I think that the TTC rollercoaster is so full of things to worry about and it can be a snowball effect once you start thinking of one element of it.

I too wanted 3 children, then I thought we'd probably only have time for 2 & now I reckon we'll be lucky if we have 1. It's funny, life never goes how you plan it.

About periods, I find that about every three months I have a period that is especially heavy and painful - not sure how that works but it has always been like that even before TTC.

Joycep I can't believe that I forgot to congratulate you for finding that AWOL ovary - I mean't to because I was like yay when I read it

The morphology thing is comforting - thanks for that. Though I reckon I might keep that information to myself for a bit because it may focus DP's mind when it comes to vitamins and his booze consumption!

Izzy I second popping to your GP. The fact that you are asking them about your lack or periods rather than fertility per se might actually be a good thing and work for you to bypass the waiting time for a gynae referral.

Biscuit I like your new name BTW, in fact I like anything that has a minimum of 500 calories . How did your appointment go?
