Aw - sorry to hear you're feeling such a rotten tomato yellow (sorry - couldn't resist!) - any better today? I guess the heat probably isn't helping much.

Very quiet on this thread - I assume everyone is melting and eating ice lollies?

Soooo, I met up with the mner from the freak out thread and it was lovely! We were able to share our fears and hopes and didn't touch on any secrets that have been shared on-line already Grin. What it has done is make me want to meet you ladies even more - would it ever be possible do you think?

yellowtomato · 28/06/2011 16:42

Just a quick moan from me, am feeling so tired and bloated today, am really struggling to work. Really wish I could lay down!

harassedandherbug · 28/06/2011 14:32

Me with another new name... couldn't get on with the last one!

worm I am Envy at your TT tickets!! I couldn't get any. Have a lovely time though.

Wombat has your meeting gone ahead????

wombatinwaiting · 28/06/2011 10:04

Oh yes - I'm sure you'll have the greatest day at the christening for babe - will you pray? I hope the sun will shine and that the boring bits only take a minute Grin grin] and Blush - clearly have too much time on my hands!!

Wormshuffler · 28/06/2011 09:14

Thanks wombat the concert is in Birmingham at Aston Villa ground, am dreading the drive home though I am usually aslepp by 9pm! I actually think Internet would have been on My list before water and electric!
I look huge today, people are noticing but not saying, I quite like having a secret! We are going to a christening on Sunday, DH's family, I have no idea how I am going to get away with that one all my dresses show a podge or don't fit........Technically I will be 12 weeks by then but would still like to wait for the scan next tuesday Grin good job i have a little patience.......... (see what I did there )?

wombatinwaiting · 28/06/2011 06:40

Oooooh - am v Envy at your take that date worm! Enjoy every second and blow them a kiss from me - where is it?

Hurrah for travel sickness bands yellow and thanks for checking out the meet-up today Wink although I'm yet to hear back from a text I sent....

Been running around trying to get water and electric sorted for new and old villa - stupidly complicated and haven't even thought about phone / internet yet....

V glad to hear that DH has come around pants and what a lovely treat to look forward to this weekend. I still chuckle that you're a grandmum at the ripe old age of 40!

While on sizes - I seem to be towering over you all at 5'5"! 10-12 for about the last year and a half after really focusing on getting down from a 14-16 (surprised myself by how much I enjoyed exercising properly) however I'm sure that's all going to go out the window once junior arrives..... Hmm currently perfecting the pie-muncher look very well.....

Waves to all x

Wormshuffler · 27/06/2011 16:21

Chatty bunch today!!
How lovely that you are feeling movements pants, don't be dis-heartened about not feeling them wombat, with second/third/forth PG's they usually feel earlier movements, something to do with us being previously stretched and more sensitive inside I believe.
Great news about getting a helpful doc mrsb Grin
I like wombats idea abut organising things to make sod's law come into effect! Booking a ski holiday would definately do it for all you still TTC.
While we are all sharing our sizes I am 5'1 and 12-14 top half (when not pg) and 14-16 bottom half, what you would call a classid pear shaped.
Horrah for seabands yellow
Scan in 8 days Grin I'm off to see take that tomorrow Grin Grin

pantsandpup · 27/06/2011 13:53

A complete tosser stranger has just asked me if I have a couple of months left.........

Dh has obviously finally realised I'm really fed up with him and is taking dd and I away Sat evening (grand-daughters 2nd birthday tea in the afternoon) and to do something lovely on the Sunday to celebrate dd's 5th birthday.

mrsb that's great!!! Well done you.

yellow glad you're feeling better Grin.

yellowtomato · 27/06/2011 13:45

Hello ladies

Good news is that the bands still seem to be working! Hurrah

mrsb33 that is an excellent result, hopefully you feel a bit better from taking action?

pants sorry you had a crap weekend, hopefully the week is better. As I'm feeling well now, I'm putting off telling my boss! I'm 5ft 3 and 14-16 ! I didnt sleep well either, too hot.

Emma hope wed goes well , opk's never worked for me.

wombat I think it'll be weird her dp is there, mine would not approve of all the sharing! Dont worry, she checked out ok!

wombatinwaiting · 27/06/2011 13:39

Soooo pleased to hear that mrsb - well done to you for being so proactive and geting all those tests done - nice one! Very interesting to hear re: the clogging up of CM Shock.

Lovely to see you again x

mrsb33 · 27/06/2011 10:03

Ladys just popping back in to say been to docs today, am now booked in for an interal exam next week, day 21 bloods, pelvic ultra sound and seman tests. So whoop whoop! Fingers crossed we can start to get answers now. He also said its beens proved that charting and scientifically managing fertility can dry up and clog up cervical mucus!! So there's my problem straight away! Lol

OP posts:
wombatinwaiting · 27/06/2011 09:46

Ooh pants - am v happy that you felt movement but have to admit to being Envy too. As sparkly will tell you, I'm not know for my patience and so am drumming my fingers waiting for these flutterings I keep being promised...... Hope the steps issue resolves itself....

I wonder if you might think about selling on those clothes on e-bay emma - almost a guarantee of a bfp, oh and get a new job while you're at it and book a really expensive holiday just to make sure Smile

pantsandpup · 27/06/2011 09:12

Hi girls,

Sorry I didn't back on over the weekend. I had a pretty crap weekend thanks to not so "d" h and not so "d" sd. Think I need to get back over to the Steps board..... Hmm.

MrsB I completely understand why you need a break. It's so mentally and physically exhausting. After two mc's so close together I was wondering how much more I could put my family through, so this one was our last go.

yellow Are you telling your boss today?? I think you should tell him what you feel comfortable with, however don't feel like you need to justify it..... these things happen. My boss was ok-ish. Said I'm a bloody nuisance which I think he's only half joking about, and when he said he was going to have to pay me a load of money for doing nothing any ounce of sympathy vanished!

wombat I get the impression L is very lovely and bubbly....I can't see any tumbleweed moments Grin. don't forget to report back!!

sparkly we're the same height but I'm fatter (14-16) and older (40)!!!

emma that's rubbish about the clothes... I really hope you get to use them soon x

worm that really does sound like stretching pains. I'm getting very sore ones if I over stretch or reach in weird way.

I've had a rubbish nights sleep. If I was an ice lolly I'd be a puddle on the floor!!! And dd woke up with tummy ache......

I def felt some movement last night too. I've had the odd is it/isn't it fluttering, but this def was.

wombatinwaiting · 27/06/2011 07:44

I know - it all feels a bit odd! Plus it may be one of those odd things where we realise we have nothing to talk about Blush and there are tumbleweed moments....! Bit like a blind date really although I think her DH will be there too, so a bit of a strange blind date Hmm

Really glad to hear the pains have subsided worm -are you still feeling a bit sick? Uterine rupture sounds horribly painful....

I had a lovely white wine spritzer last night and for the first time in ages had a brilliant night's sleep - hope it was just coincidence!

Waves to all and leaves out hot buttered crumpets for those with the stomach for them! x

Wormshuffler · 26/06/2011 19:31

Ooohhh meeting up with someone wombat ..............yellow could you get your people to check this person out so we know our wombat isn't getting groomed please...........
Thanks for asking about the pains, I havn't had any more of the really painful top tummy type ones, I do get low down pains, but not in deep like AF, more like stretching I think/hope. I will check with the midwife as I have had 2 CS so there is always the worry of uterine rupture.....
I'm none the wiser on these peg trouser things either.........think you will have to do a clever linky thing sparkly
Pleased the travel bands are doing the trick for you yellow long may it last, with maybe just a tinge of sickness for reassurance sake.
Shame you don't live around here you guys with childcare problems, my BF has just set up as a childminder and needs kids!
That sucks about the clothes emma leave them where they are and I hope you get to use them soon.
Hope you are all having a nice weekend.

Sparklywine · 26/06/2011 18:24

You're meeting up with someone Wombat?! Am Envy
I think with peg trousers, picture the old-fashioned wooden pegs that taper and are shite stylish (I have some, oh yes). Then picture a 5ft4 size 14 podgy 37 year old attempting to carry off the shape Grin I think this is the time to indulge in crazy fashion, at no other time would I team pegs with a horizontal stripey top, but, oh yes, it's all coming out this season!
Hope you're all enjoying the sun ladies! Gave me a headache but an icecream and an afternoon nap helped. Now contemplating a rose wine and soda.....just a wee one! I think the baby must be craving grapes.....

wombatinwaiting · 26/06/2011 09:54

Heavens above - there is no hope for us! If yellow describes working for MI6 as not really having a "proper" career then I'm not sure what is - answers on a postcard please! Grin

I found that some months I didn't get a smiley face with the opk emma which was really frustratin (not to say expensive too). I am wondering what "carcking on" is.... some strange tradition in your part of the world?! Grin

And how are you today worm? REally hope the pains have settled and there is nothing else to report for now - the days are ticking down to your scan.....

Never tried travel bands yellow as my sickness never got that bad, but I have heard others swear by them and I guess not an expensive remedy.... maybe you could try experimenting with taking them off too (if you dare!) Your 6 months off sounds like a good compromise although I'm told it whizzes by. Am I right in saying that in the UK you can extend your time if you want to providing you give them enough notice? I am actually leaving the company here as I really wanted a couple of months off before junior arrives and as maternity leave here is only 45 calendar days Shock then I would be back at work before he was born! People tend to work right up to the point of popping - not for me thanks.... I have this rose-tinted vision of doing the lady what lunches for a couple of months, in reality, I wonder if I'll actually get my a*se off the sofa!

Good recommendations on the mat jeans purchases ladies - thanks. I'll be raiding those stores when I'm back next month. In the mean time marathon what was so bad about Pop Tarts? Never been there (or to Sheffield in fact) but I'm intrigued now....!

Forgive my ignorance sparkly but what on earth are peg trousers? They sound a tad painful....

In other news, I should be meeting up with one of the ladies from the Freak Out thread on Tues as she is here on hols. Will be very interesting (I think....) - I don't think I've shared as much personal stuff on there as I have with you lot, so hopefully it won't be too embarassing. I think I may have felt junior making some movements yesterday but with all the digestive gurgling going on it could have been something else entirely - am still v impatient to get something more definite.....

MarathonMama · 25/06/2011 21:21

yellow your situation sounds exactly the same as mine before dd was born. I put her name down for three nurseries when I was 7 months pg to start full time when she was 6 months old. I didn't get a place until she was 10 months old and then it was only for one day! Would definitely recommend putting your name on the list asap.

I ended up staying at home and not going back because my DH and I both worked 10-12 hour days and also commuted into London but the nursery hours didn't cover the time we were away. I wasn't comfortable with a nanny (I used to go to a childminder after school and she used to strap the babies she looked after into pushchairs and then watch the snooker, she didn't engage with them at all). I also didn't like the idea of not seeing dd at all during the week and my job wasn't something you could do part time, so I gave it up and became a SAHM. It was scary and I do miss some elements of work, mostly the adult conversation and male company, not the actual work (which seems trivial now).

I am also the same about sleep! I remember stressing soooo much about the labour and birth (I'd been told I had a low pain threshold) but that bit was ok, the bit afterwards with the sleep deprivation was far worse! It does get easier though, relatively quickly, although doesn't seem like it at the time.

Sparkly 5 weeks? That's impressive, she must be superwoman! I'm afraid I was talks in a whisper a Pop Tarts girl on Saturdays Hmm I'm sorry, please carry on talking to me Grin Btw, would definitely recommend Topshop maternity jeans, I'm not usually a Topshop person (being elderly) but I loved their maternity jeans.

emmaandthestar · 25/06/2011 21:12

Worm hope you are ok - I actually ended up on casualty with the first pregnancy as I had really back cramps at 11 weeks - they couldn't tell what was wrong but went home had a bath and yes, it was just wind (a lot of it mind)!

We have 3 more days of SWI - and then blood tests on Wednesday - hope awful if I didn't even ovulate.... the OPK never seem to work for me :(

Mrsb I'm with you - this time last year I was running 1/2 marathons on a regular basis and fitted some really nice clothes, now I am not even buying clothes in the vague hope that I will be pregnant soon.

I have a heap of stuff from ASOS that arrived 2 days after I miscarried (I was getting big at 11 weeks and thought I was home and dry). It still sits unopened in my office at work...

Night off from SWI tonight and then carcking on tomorrow so won't be online tomorrow :)

Waves to all and have a wonderful sunny day tomorrow

yellowtomato · 25/06/2011 18:40

Awww mrsb33 I'll miss you. I totally understand why you need a break and another focus though. It really helped me to get this new job and take my mind off things....Please do pop in and/or lurk as it suits you and we'd love to hear any updates from you even if not baby related. Hope you manage to find your va va voom again. Big hugs and lots of love to you.

Thanks for the work advice ladies. I wouldn't really say I've got a 'proper' career but it is a properly job and my company and particularly my department takes work very seriously and everyone works extremely hard. Not to give too much away but most of my department are based in the USA and me and one other person were recruited to launch plans in Europe so we're the only 2 in the UK from our particular dept although we sit within the rest of the UK based company.

I am thinking of taking 6 months off, seems like a good compromise but tbh I am still not at the stage of thinking this will work out so it's a bit of an abstract concept to think about. And I've really got no experience at all with children or babies and so have no idea how I'll feel. A friend of mine went back after 3 months and she said that after 2 months she was bored and looking forward to going back. I just know that I love sleep and a new baby and sleep are not always that compatible! I also work long hours, often 10 or 12 hours so not sure what kind of childcare would work with that and DP is the same. I guess I'll just have to see. I have heard that round here you need to sign up for a nursery place when you are 12 weeks pg to get a place......eeekkk!

The thing is the contract was a done deal when they asked for the medical stuff which is why I was more comfortable with my omission. I know that if you lie on CV or about stuff before you get offered the job then that can be v serious but this was after. Tbh I thought it was nosy and unnecessary. Why would it help them to know I'd had 2 mc when someone else equally may not have had any but still go on to get pg soon. The rest of the company contains a number of pg people (3 at the moment) and the policies are quite generous. It's just the UK part is a kind of subsidary of the US part and I'm directly working with the US part although I've got a UK contract if that makes sense?

Anyway, worm you are right I am probably worrying too much....it's just that feeling as sick as I have been I was thinking I might have to tell them sooner rather than later so they can be more understanding and let me go home early when I'm feeling grim.

In other news I got some of those travel bands today and remarkably am not feeling sick for the first time in weeks! Was feeling very sick this am and then put them on and bingo, felt much better. Has anyone else tried them before? Seems like magic although I'll see how long it lasts!

Sparklywine · 25/06/2011 17:17

Aw, MrsB, we cross-posted earlier, and it looked like I'd trampled over you to get to the discounted ruched jersey! Your post was very poignant, I hope you pop in, and re-join us when you feel ready. A break from it all will do you the world of good if it's affecting you so badly. Take care x
Marathon, work already seems really petty and pointless, and I'm looking forward to handing over to someone else come December. I'd like to go back 3 days a week next year, they won't give me back my current position but are, before Wombat gets out the statute books Grin obliged to give me an equivalent role on the same pay. Less responsibility, same dosh, win-win!
Yellow, must be difficult, you seem to have a proper career unlike me tossing about Grin so I can imagine you don't want to scupper anything. Do you want the full 9 months off when bubs arrives? I know a career girl who only took five weeks off for hers, she is lovely and enjoys being a mum but it's not her life. She's slipped back into being super-successful like she was never away (which, to all intents, she wasn't really!)
The asos sale was ace, I got some 'peg' trousers (possibly a mistake as am 5ft4), a couple of smart-ish wrap tops, a silk vest top and a couple of long-sleeved jersey numbers. I think my work wardrobe is now sorted, just need another nice pair of jeans; Gap had some decent ones the other week when I looked, that will see me through.
Oooh, Roxy's. Though I was more of a Kiki's girl myself when I wasn't indie-ing it up in the Leadmill of a Saturday night!

MarathonMama · 25/06/2011 16:53

Oh Mrsb that makes me sad. I hope you enjoy some time away and manage to be happy and relaxed again soon.

Yellow I agree with what Worm says, you really won't care about work in the medium term. I was surprised how much I lost interest after dd was born. It all seemed so petty, the politics, endless navel-gazing, pointless meetings etc. It's still hard to know how to tell your employers and I don't see why you shouldn't mention the egg donor point if you're comfortable doing so and think it'll soften the blow.

Sparkly I was at the uni too, '95-98. I loved it there! Bar One, The Park and Foundry, Pajama Jump, the Leadmill, Roxy's etc. Those were the days! I haven't been back for years, bet it's all changed. I know all the Halls have been destroyed now which is such a pity.

wombatinwaiting · 25/06/2011 16:42

It's a real toughie yellow and I think your idea of taking in the egg donor notes is quite a sensible one (if you feel comfortable revealing that level of detail). Seems unusual that they asked for 3 years worth of doctor contact - surely that would relate to discrimination if they had known about your history and then not offered you the job. Mind you, I'm not up on the latest employment law.....

wombatinwaiting · 25/06/2011 16:38

Ah mrsb - I am really sorry to hear that it's all getting to you and I completely understand you wanting to take some time out. I can imagine also that it must be v hard with some of us now updiffed and chatting about the stuff I'm sure you want to be involved with too. Sending many hugs - we will miss you and hope to see you back here soon xx

Wormshuffler · 25/06/2011 13:02

sparkly no problem it's my pleasure! what did you get?

yellow could you be worrying too much over this? I mean surely it would be no surprise to any company employing someone of child-bearing age, that they fall pregnant? It may help if you explain, well from a personal level for you, but at the end of the day you don't need to. There are strict guidlines in place regarding discrimination that HR will know all about. Once you have a baby you will be amazed how much your mindset changes, and the things at work that you used to get stressed over just don't anymore. Believe Me you won't give a toss about work once bubba is here.
