yellowtomato · 11/02/2012 15:36

So have been to the hospital for Ctg and all fine except baby's heartbeat is borderline on the high side. She did a ve and waters have broken but cervix is high and posterior although soft and 1cm.

I have to go back at 6pm for a repeat Ctg and be admitted as I have to have iv anti biotics at 2 am. No contractions yet but I really need some to avoid further interventions tomorrow. Not sure I will have signal in hospital or if mn works but will try or worm/wombat via fb.

Eeeaak it's happening finally!

Wormshuffler · 11/02/2012 11:31

Quick update, I think waters have broken, gonna phone hospital in a mo. Please send contracting vibes this way!

Sparklywine · 10/02/2012 19:03

A possible birthday on Valentines, poor future boyfriends, the pressure! Grin

Sparklywine · 10/02/2012 19:01

Aw Yellow, hugs. I wanted a water birth and incense, didn't happen. The sweep didn't work for me, the induction did, and I have an angry little evil genius now! Grin I thought Gabes would be early, he was just too cosy in there, and who knows if they didn't induce what my body would have done with being pregnant for soooo long. The induction will just give baby a nudge if they're a bit reluctant - it's hard but look at the bright side, by Tuesday you will have met your baby and be sniffing a lovely, soft, downy head! Grin
Oh, he's grizzling, gotta go but sending you some lovely cheese to go with your wine x

yellowtomato · 10/02/2012 18:12

Thanks wombat

The midwife tried to bully me into a sweep today but I refused but the induction has been booked for 8.30am Monday. Really not keen but feel like I am kind of out of options and have been crying all afternoon. (ok not all afternoon but lots of it!) I know the baby could come this weekend or the induction could be fine but it just is really not what I wanted.

I guess I can't stay pregnant forever, I was just sure she'd come in time. I think wine is called for.

wombatinwaiting · 10/02/2012 12:05

Aw yellow. I really feel for you. If it helps, and I know it doesn't always, statistically loads of mums get that far overdue, although I realize it's prob dp who needs this more than you. You are doing fabulously to hold it all together. I'm also thinking that by your dates, you're still not that overdue! Sending lots of calming vibes to you and lots of encouragement vibes to petite tomato xx

yellowtomato · 10/02/2012 10:33

Yup, felt like a colander or pin cushion or something by the time he had finished with me but still no result.......pah and bah

Thanks for all the info about the induction, I prefer to have info and to be prepared. I really am not keen still and am just hoping that my lovely baby decides to come out this weekend. Monday I'll be 40+14 and DP is insistent I be induced on that day, he can't take the waiting anymore. I'd prefer to wait until she is ready but am finding it increasingly difficult to hold my nerve.

off to see the midwife in a mo so will see what she says. Dp expects me to book the induction today so will prob be cross if I don't........hmmmm, well we'll see. It seems to be quite cold and icy so I've decided to get the bus rather than walk......I thought a walk uphill for 30 mins might help but not if i fall over and twist my ankle!

Will update later.......

Sparklywine · 09/02/2012 18:41

Yellow, you must resemble a colander by now!
You will be teary hun; boredom, tiredness, nerves, stress, all conspiring. Not long now!
Re. your question, not sure - when I was having contractions all my concentration was on managing them - don't recall Gabes moving. Tis different with an induction though.
I had a pessary inserted, this was painless. It went in around 10am, and fell back out in the loo around 6pm, after an hour or so of cramps, along with quite a lot of blood which they weren't worried about, it was a show apparently.
The pessary can bring on contractions very quickly when it gets going, and they are quite intense. Please know that a certain high level of pain means things are well underway, you will not have this for hours and should therefore not panic or think you have a low pain threshold (as I did) - insist on being examined, insist on pain relief. When you feel an overwhelming pressure, sort of like you want to poo but not quite, and want to sit on the loo or get on all fours, you are close. When you know instinctively that you need to push, you are very close. If you say you need to push, it tends to get the midwives' attention, and if this doesn't work say you need to poo, that will work! Grin

You should go through all of this with pain relief, I didn't thanks to midwives thinking I was being a drama queen I expect, and because I was still only 3cm dilated quite late in the day - nonsense, insist on attention and you will be just fine. I did get gas and air for the last ten minutes which was a delight, I can highly recommend it! Grin
I hope this doesn't make you more nervous, it seems to be a common tale with inductions that things can accelerate rapidly all of a sudden (I say that, it's still hours) and catch everyone by surprise - had I known how quickly it would be over though, from feeling the first serious contractions, I'd have felt a lot better, so do take that with you and it should help you manage the pain and focus on the end result - a gorgeous baby (remember the bruised boxer schnoz though)!

Wormshuffler · 09/02/2012 17:51

Hormones ! It's a sign ! X x

yellowtomato · 09/02/2012 16:33

So I've burst into tears twice today for no good reason. Is it a sign? am I losing the plot? I've had acu and -snored- -through- listened to a relaxing/letting go cd....maybe that is the culprit?

yellowtomato · 09/02/2012 10:23

Also have a question, when contractions start does the baby keep more still or continue to wriggle about?

yellowtomato · 09/02/2012 09:42

No news I'm afraid and no signs either. I am feeling the pressure now, DP is v stressed about waiting and wants me to induced ASAP and is trying to get me to agree. I've agreed to Monday but we'll see. I bought a new download mp3 'how to let go and open your uterus' which I've listened to twice and have one more acu today.

sparkly how did they start your induction, was it with gel, pessaries or breaking waters? Was your cervix favorable? I guess I can ask what the plan would be when I see the midwife tomorrow. Really not keen but am kind of out of option.

Come on send me some dilation vibes!

Wormshuffler · 09/02/2012 07:53

Lurking from phone. I'll be back later on laptop .

wombatinwaiting · 09/02/2012 07:16

Lurky McLurky from Lurkyland.....

wombatinwaiting · 08/02/2012 17:52

oooh - I'll take one of each please yellow and I shall forgive you for the scones are you so updiffed! Grin

Sorry that you are getting hassle from all sides - your attitude sounds fantastic and very healthy - as you say, you still have 5 days to go, you're having regular checks, feeing good (if not a little cake-filled Grin ) and plenty of movements from petite tomate. Have a gentle squeeze and a pat on the back for staying so calm.

P.S. If your head does fall off, will they still induce you....?! Grin

yellowtomato · 08/02/2012 16:41

Ahhh wombat he's adorable.......

sparkly interesting to know when you were induced and that with hindsight you would have preferred to wait, I do remember xmas being a factor now you mention it.

I am not fed up at all and like the attention! You guys are not annoying at all but I'll tell you who is..........my mum and mother in law and all the rest of the panic panic your head will fall off brigade.

i am relaxed and fine and would prefer baba to come when she is ready. I am more than happy to potter about, stuff my face and sleep.....there is no hurry. However, my mum is in such a frenzy she's driving me mad....she wants me to text her every day...i don't want to cos I don't want her to know until it's all over and don't want to set a precedent but if i don't she starts harassing me. So today she texted me about half 10 to say she and my dad were going out so i should text them on both their phones......so i did to say that there was no news......then she called me about half an hour later to know if there was any more news, pains etc.......grrrrr. Then the mil called dp because she believes we have a medieval system of healthcare here and that in France I would be induced tomorrow (according to her) but she was in a right panic cos she thought i'd just been at home all this time and not having any check ups or anything......so she got dp into a panic (he's close already and doesn't need any encouragement) and so he phoned me for no real reason except to tell me about the panic......so I was feeling fine but then all these other people in a panic make me feel massively under pressure to perform.

Im more than happy for people to get in touch, see how I am, if there is any news etc cos it makes me feel nice that I'm not forgotten but the stressy-ness and scare mongering I could do without. ffs the WHO and NICE guidelines both say a 'normal' pg is up to 42 weeks.....which is not until Monday. All my tests are fine and the baby is active. I know this, i have read a lot of research and am happy with this but the more I have to repeat myself the more I get anxious and worry about something going wrong etc..........

Grrrrrrr and breathe.............

Ive downloaded a 'relax and help you to open your cervix' or something like that track from t'interweb so am going to lie on the sofa and listen to that now.

Afternoon tea was lovely although I did eat too much but that was to be expected, have bought broccoli and fish for dinner to compensate.

i love you guys descriptions of the breast feeding/declining face...so exciting that I'm nearly there........

I couldn't manage all the cakes so have bought back a selection for you guys, there is a mini brownie, cheesecake, raspberry meringue, pistachio thing-y and shortbread. Sorry I ate all the scones!

wombatinwaiting · 08/02/2012 14:55

I have just added a new pic to my profile here from today - I know I'm biased but it's a really cute one of Jack!

wombatinwaiting · 08/02/2012 14:20

Gah - post had been eaten twice! so just a quick one to say come on petite tomate - stop giving your mum a hard time. Get the teas in while you can yellow - good for strength in labour! Grin. Do tell us to wind our necks in if our stalking / lurking is making you more fed up than you probably already are!

Arf arf at the twizzlers sparkly - they are such funny little critters. Would you consider posting a pic of Gabes on your profile? Would just love to see him!

Another playdate in the park today - Jack was with a girl who was born the same day but he looked an absolute bruiser in comparison - there is no mistaking he's a boy!

Sparklywine · 08/02/2012 11:33

Ooh, I was induced at 40+9! This was to squeeze me in before crimbo if you remember, otherwise I'd have had to go to 40+15 if nothing happened, and wasn't keen on that! Looking back I'd much rather have waited a little longer, but was slightly worried by the 'head will fall off' brigade. Baby will come when it's ready Smile
Oooh oooh, I love an afternoon tea too! Had a massive scone and clotted cream at the garden centre, scones are my new very favourite thing. Now I just need to learn how to make them so they are not like flat, heavy paperweights!
Gabes is snoozing but stirring so best go, his little mouth is pouting and searching like a hungry baby sparrow in a nest. Wombat, Gabes also rejects the boob with a haughty look of disgust sometimes, it is funny; the fickle creature has to demure at some point until he can rustle up his own immune-boosting, tailor-made feast, but you'd think I was offering up a turkey twizzler.
Waves to all and contractiony, whaley music vibes to Yellow x

yellowtomato · 08/02/2012 10:50

Nothing, rien, nada, etc

How far did you go before you got induced sparkly I am 40+9 today!

Off to afternoon tea today, oh how I love those little sarnies and scones and jam and clotted cream.

I've done 2 lots of washing today, could that be a sign? I have also painted my toenails and tided up my lady garden. I couldn't be more ready Grin
