Oooh, Magnum icecream! I had some meringues and clotted cream icecream last night, twas delightful.
We got let out of work early yesterday as we're in Salford and there were hoodies amassing outside the local McDonalds. Everyone was really concerned to make sure I got home safely which was very touching, I like being vulnerable pregnant woman! Out in the sleepy enclaves of Cheshire we were untouched by trouble, although the city centre Patisserie Valerie seems to have been looted for pastries (we clearly have a better class of hoodlum up here! Grin)
Worm, too much information as usual! Grin
Hugs to Mrsb33, my Sis took 18 months for her first (she was v early 30's) with no known obvious cause. Look after each other x

yellowtomato · 09/08/2011 20:51

Hello mrsb33 really sorry to hear you are feeling so down and it is rubbish that tests are taking so long. It really is tough, not sure if it helps but we tried 3 years altogether, would you consider acupuncture?

sparkly where is the pic of the cats in the sling, I'm sure they'll model it really well.

I am going to try to resist another scan, am seeing the midwife next thurs to listen to heartbeat so maybe that will help!

Am def feeling much better now, such a relief!

Estate agency opposite my flat got smashed up last night, I slept through it though! Hopefullythings will be calmer tonight.

waves and magnum ice-cream to all

mrsb33 · 08/08/2011 16:47

Sparkly I'm sure the cats will oblige! Take pics Wink I looked at the Surf but am not keen on not having a proper carrycot type bit as I'll be using it for Bug to sleep in during the day. We live in a 3 storey house so will NOT be humping the moses basket up and down every day, and don't want to buy another one!

Sparklywine · 08/08/2011 11:58
Sparklywine · 08/08/2011 11:56

Just to let you know that Monts has sobered up and is kicking away, yay!
Harassed, had a look at the Uppababy, oooh it's plush! The pil's have kindly offered to buy us the pram when the time comes, they state it's family tradition but actually they are just looking to kick-start one I think Grin Further research highlights the Silver Cross Surf, retailing at a mere £500 as opposed to the £560 for the Uppababy. Whadya think? In the meantime I have successfully bid on a Sleepy Wrap sling for £18, cheapskate that I am! Half a grand does seem a bit steep, but I suppose it does for 3 years or so and will get almost daily use. That is 45p a day by my reckoning (this dubious maths is how I justify all my outrageous purchases Grin)

harassedandherbug · 08/08/2011 09:37

Bugger, missed people!!

mrsb any news on your test results?

star how are you feeling now?? dd is slowly coming round to the idea of a boy, but she's 5 so boys are rubbish Grin. She's taking some persuading!!

harassedandherbug · 08/08/2011 09:34

Sorry, haven't been on much. The weeks are so busy, work is crap and lurching from one crisis to another, boss off for two weeks at our busiest timeHmm and the weekends are sooo busy plus mil has been in hospital for 6 weeks now. To be honest I'm exhausted. First due date coming up this week, and struggling to get my head round it all and make sense of it all tbh. God I'm depressing!!!! On the plus side, lots of wriggling and have even bought a few bits. Trying to get my head round a pram. Think we've narrowed it down to a 2nd hand Chameleon or a new baby style oyster.......

Wombat such sad news about Suki, I'm so very sorry. But you've most def made the right decision, it just might take you a while to believe it. We had our beloved dog pts 2.5 years ago when he got desperately ill. It was awful and he wasn't ever going to have any quality of life, but god we all sobbed our eyes out. It does get better, we just talk about the good/funny bits now.

wellie have a squish ((()))! If you can't vent here, where can you???

emma good luck lovely.....

sparkly my mum was a basket-case mum, don't do it!!! How are you keeping?? Sounds like you're blooming.

yellow have a look at the baby jogger city mini. It can also take a carrycot now. The only down-side, in my opinion, is that it's forward facing only. Or the Britax one is very good too. I'm craving an Uppababy Vista but just too much money and they don't come up 2nd hand often.....

This poor baby is going to have a complex, everything is hand me downs/second hand!!!!

Sparklywine · 08/08/2011 08:41

Aw, Wombat, what sad news! I have welled up in the workplace and must have some sugary tea and a malted milk asap. Poor Suki. I'm sending you lots of hugs, you're being very brave. You're going to be such a great mum, I'm going to be a complete basket-case, I know it! The type that has to have an afternoon lie-down in a darkened room with some smelling salts.
Wellie, I'm sending you hugs too, it must be awful sometimes us banging on, we're quite far away from monitoring ewcm now but I hope you stay with us to chat, and there are some lovely sort-of-newbies on here in the same place. It will happen for you, look at Yellow and her trials, and now here she is buying, er, teensy socks! I'm not sure why, but then I've bought a bookcase not suitable for age 3 and under due to tiny dangerous pointy parts. We've all clearly lost it.
Yellow, as Wombat says the run-up to 20 weeks is a bit crappy - no movements, no proper bump, wondering if the scan in many many weeks time is going to reveal your worst fears........if a private scan will make you feel better then go for it, not for me to say really but I'd recommend involving DP too, you need his love and support. Oui.

Had a lovely glass of red wine last night and then dreamt all night that I'd got absolutely hammered on cocktails, to the extent I kept waking up in a panic wracked with guilt. Haven't really felt any kicks since Saturday so trying to stay calm, but it's quite worrying. I've spent far too much time lying prostrate on the bed with the bio oil, gently pressing down on various parts of me trying to get some movement out of Monts. I get one kick, then can't quite believe it and try for more, but he only does it once
So, goes to show, no matter how lucky we are compared to others, I for one am still an ungrateful, whinging old bag! Grin
Waves to Harassed (you ok out there?) and everyone else, I hope we have a happier week x

wombatinwaiting · 08/08/2011 06:14

Thanks ladies and for the tea and scones - tis tough but we will get through it.

Well done yellow on getting the socks and maternity gear! I was definitely similar to you in terms of getting bored with the buggies. I found the mumsnet review section here on travel systems quite good - as you need to consider if you're likely to be on public transport a lot, have stairs to climb etc.

To be honest, I hated the 12-16 week period - I felt so un-duffed and was convinced it had all gone wrong (as you say, based on nothing at all) but fortunately we had a 16 week scan as routine here. I would highly recommend you go for it for peace of mind. Junior's real activity kicked in around 20 weeks which was hugely reassuring (plus good 20 week scan too) and I am waaaaay more relaxed about the whole thing and dare I say it, almost enjoying it Smile

Waves to all and leaves out hot buttered muffins with selection of condiments.

yellowtomato · 07/08/2011 19:54

Ahhh wombat so sorry for you, big hugs and gentle head strokes coming your way. I really feel for you, sounds like your being stoic but it must be tough. You made the best decision for her but it must be difficult. I've made you some camomile tea and scones with jam. ((((hugs))))

wellie there is no need to apologise, we're here to vent and listen to each other. I went through some tough moments before I got to this stage so can totally empathise. Do I remember correctly that you have a doctors appt coming up?

emma congrats........i know it's a tough time and the weeks will drag but you've made the first step. Well done!

How are all the other recently duffed ladies?

star that sounds frightening, glad all is well now

mrsb33 did you get all your results?

I bought some maternity trousers today and a skirt and some tiny, tiny little socks! We also looked at buggies which gave me a headache. So many......We just want something really small and light that doesn't cost a million pounds. Any suggestions from you previous duffers? To be honest I was v bored looking at buggies and cots etc, was like washing machines to me.....what criteria are you supposed to use to decide? I've no idea what I'm looking for.........

Also feeling a bit hysterical that something might have happened and I'm not pg anymore.....such a limbo stage, am at 15 weeks....been obsessively thinking about having a private scan. This is based on nothing and when I mentioned it to DP he just rolled his eyes at me. Not sure if I should just have a scan and not tell him?

The good news is that I've been feeling better, went out until 12.30 last night, for dinner and then a bar......been feeling tired today but I couldn't believe I managed to stay out so late......I think I must have turned a corner!

Waves to all..........and another big hug for wombat

MarathonMama · 07/08/2011 17:51

Hi all,

Haven't caught up properly but just wanted to say a big (whispered) congrats and fx to Emma

Also, Wombat sorry to hear about Suki, she won't be in pain anymore and it's probably relief for her. Hope you feel better soon.

wombatinwaiting · 07/08/2011 16:43

A quiet congrats to you emma - while I know it's really early days I have my fingers, toes and all other bits crossed for you. Do keep us posted.

Aw wellie - completely understand re: your frustrations and up and down-ness and I'm very conscious that it must be saddening / frustrating / annoying / aggravating to be sharing this thread with others who are at the stage of the journey you would dearly love to be at. Absolutely no need to apologise - sending hugs x

Good to hear from you star and sorry to hear re: your dd's eye - nasty stuff. Hope it hasn't put too much strain on you.

What other news from all you lovely ladies?

I was a bit too Sad to post last night and I'm sorry to bring some bad news to this thread. We made the very tough decision yesterday to have Suki put to sleep as after running some blood tests to check her kidney / bladder function, the vet saw some very worrying results and then performed a further x-ray that showed that her bladder had ruptured and become detached and we really had no option but to end her suffering. It was very quick and painless for her but suffice to say me and DH were really upset. She was such a darling pooch - so affectionate and human-like in so many ways. Doing better today as lots to distract me at work. She will be sorely missed.

wellieboots · 07/08/2011 08:11

So sorry girls, was just feeling thoroughly miserable yesterday. At least af turned up later in the day, so my body is doing something right!

I'm sorry emma in particular for not noticing that you were feeling low, I really hope it all works out for you this time.

Hugs and apologies to everyone

emmaandthestar · 06/08/2011 09:45

Thanks star although I don't feel positive at the moment.

Wellie I know how you feel, I took a break as i was just not in the mood for pregnancy chat... I think I will need higher levels on the bloods before i can even think that I am upduffed. At the moment zero symptoms and generally feeling low...

On that happy note - off to make loads of burgers for the BBQ tomorrow :) I will pop in and share them round here.

Star82 · 06/08/2011 08:09

Sorry everyone. Still around but been in hospital with the little one. She's fine but her brother caught her eye with a skipping rope which made the iris pool with blood so they needed to keep an eye on her.

Had a brief scroll down.
Sorry to hear about your dog wombat, poor little thing :(. Our eldest dog broke her arm when she was a puppy and has a really bad heart murmour so know how worrying it is.

Fab news emma. Hope all goes well and stsy positive. Hard to really believe it when it happens but it is true Grin.

Really sorry wellie, you held out a long time before testing so must feel really disappointed. Maybe a little break will be good....and maybe the odd lurk Hmm. I had a break which helped but then againi'm pretty rubbish at keeping up to date when i'm on here anyway, Grin. Big hugs and good luck at the docs!

Congratulations on a boy harrassed! How does DD feel? I can't wait to know. 2 weeks to wait until we can haave private scan to find out or another 5 or 6 weeks until NHS scan.

Hi to all. Have a lovely weekend. x

wellieboots · 05/08/2011 22:42

Not good news here, caved on cd37 and got a bfn. Think I now need to take a break from mn cos everyone on this thread is now pg, and my body just refuses to cooperate! I made that docs appt for Friday so I'll let you know how that goes....i

Huge hugs to everyone and the best of luck with your pregnancies....

emmaandthestar · 05/08/2011 19:40

Wombat so sad about your dog but glad she is on the slow road to recovery...

Worm don't paint! look here for some tips on staining - these guys are really good www.sandedfloors.co.uk/tips.html
If you are doing it yourself - watch thier video - we had them come in as we are dreadful DIYers :)

emmaandthestar · 05/08/2011 19:30

Hi all, thanks for all the positive wishes... well 10 dpo (CD27 of a 31 day cycle) I poas and got a very faint positive (i don't feel I could call it a BFP!).
I went for a blood test on the same day (4 days before AF due) and got HCG level of 13 :( it's pretty low...
The next day I tested with a digi and a regular (the digi said 1-2 weeks and the regular one was slightly darker). please please keep everythig crossed but I am not optimistic.

Yes, I used to get :) with the OPK before clomid but they were always about CD19-20 so my luteal phase was too short.

Now I'm going to catch up on all you guys to cheer me up...

harassedandherbug · 04/08/2011 11:34

Morning!

So sorry I haven't managed to get back on, I've just been so busy! So much for days off......I'm in the office for a rest. At least I get to sit down and get tea made for me if they know what's good for them.

On the scan/boy front, dd is decidedly unimpressed! She's 5 so boys are rubbish in her opinion. Dh on the other hand is over the moon. I'm chuffed for him, but didn't mind although I thought it was a girl as dh has another dd from previous relationship. Took ages though as my little bug was in totally the wrong position for any measurements and sitting like a frog with feet obscuring the bits! So they sent for a walk and to get something to eat and drink, and that did the trick. We saw him moving about, sucking his thumb and then arms waving about.

wombat so very sorry to hear about your dog! How is she today??

cuttle that sounds horrendous! Did they find a reason or where it's coming from?
sparkly ahh yes, more time for me to spend on the touchline!! Ds1 did football and ds2 rugby. Thought I'd done with that, ballet/dance lessons are far more civilised. No it's not Vinnie, and neither is it sodding Rio! Dh's first suggestion........ Hmm I'm also a crier at the moment. Not good when dd's constantly got Disney films on Blush.
yellow funny how some people just know isn't it?! I guessed my sil was preg before she told us. Good luck with the client today.
wellie any news?? Fingers still x'd for you.

wombatinwaiting · 04/08/2011 11:25

Glad it went well with the parentals yellow albeit they stole your thunder a little and great news that DP's parents are very happy. Good luck with the client - did you ever tell us what work said?

So the update on Suki is that she had the op to fix the front leg this morning which went well and she has come round. They'll be keeping her there for the next 48 hours or so to monitor her mobility and keep the pain under control. She really needs 3 legs out of 4 to be working ok and at the moment it's really only 2 until her pelvis heals and / or she gets used to walking with a cast. Poor old thing. We saw her last night a bit doped up and looking sorry for herself but they seem to be taking v good care of her.

Wombatjnr has been v quiet today which is a worry as he has been so active. Can stress affect movement does anyone know? Oh and I managed to reverse into someone this morning - no damage to theirs but big dent in mine - v Angry with myself and nearly started crying....

Waves to all and leaves out spinach and cheese puffs which I am attempting to create for a little party we're having tomorrow night.

yellowtomato · 04/08/2011 08:02

Morning ladies

wombat how is your dog doing now? Hopefully recovering well.......
cuttlefish does sound scary, so happy for your that heartbeat was still there.
harassed a blue one! Congrats!

it went better with my parents than with the inlaws although my Mum said she already knew. No idea how but she just thought we seemed closer last time she saw us.........weird......anyway that took away some of our thunder and there were no tears. I was sure that there would be tears all round. They are both v pleased just not very emotional. The we had an update from DP's sister as she's visited his parents since being back and now they finally believe it is true and wanted they are apparently very happy. These things never turn out the way you plan do they. I'm telling my client today so hopefully that will go well......

Ahhh sparkly bless you crying in the garden centre....I'm in for the footie team, I'll get very aggressive assertive with the ref!

CuttlefishDramas · 03/08/2011 19:17

Thank you for the hug Wellieboots Glad you had a nice break - Where did you holiday? I was on implanon but I haven't had a period before BFP, but I know I was warned that it could take 6 months for cycles to settle down.

Oh, congratulations Harassed! Really pleased for you :)

Here's hoping that's the last you see of those headaches Worm.

Poor Suki, Wombat, I hope the vets are able to help her. 9 out of 10 cases are good odds, but I will keep my fingers crossed tonight for you.

Hope you are staying relaxed at work still Sparkly? I didn't know indigestion means hairy!?

Wormshuffler · 03/08/2011 17:35

Football ? How ghastly it would have to be rugger ! Sending best wishes to your pooch for a good recovery wombat
